I felt bad for Deamon II he was really funny and likeable when he was introduced to us. He had a charisma similar to Bealor, with the way he doesn't look down on hedge knights and he wasn't afraid to tell powerful people like Gormon Peake to stfu.
It’s really hard to Dislike Daemon Blackfyre, he was largely content with his life and was pushed to rebel by the ambitions of other men, and by the gods was he a warrior worthy of the title Dragon even if he was a black one
@@KaiHung-wv3ul well, I’d say Daeron was probably the better ruler as a whole, he was after all called the good, but I think Daemon would have been a good strong king but also a generous one, just probably not as smart as Daeron was politically
Now where is that certain Bitter dude whose goth half sister rejected him for their magical half brother emo twink 😂 Jokes aside had things gone perfectly House Blackfyre could've been the Targaryen's most loyal cadet house similar to the House Karstarks to House Stark.
“We don’t know how…. But Daemon was able to escape by secret means…. Daemon’s plans were not widely known…” I just put it together. IT WAS BLOOD RAVEN! “A brother that I loved. A brother that I hated.” We might assume he loved King Daeron and hated Aegon, or Daemon. But what if he loved DAEMON and hated AEGOR for persuading Daemon to rebel? Wouldn’t that be the kind of twist GRRM loves? Maybe aiding Daemon’s escape is what changed Bryden into a more of a Machiavellian character seeing that saving Daemon’s life did not one any favors….
I might buy that if it wasn’t Bloodraven n his men the Ravens Teeth that killed Daemon as he was helping Sir Corbray off the battlefield, it certainly wasn’t an honorable way to kill him.
I've started to think that bloodraven actually only killed one Blackfyre personally (Aenys). I think Daemon and his two oldest sons were killed by random archers, I think Daemon II died naturally in the black cells, Haegon was killed by Aerion, and of course Dunk killed Daemon III.
And daemon IV if you even call him that was killed by Maelys, another blackfyre and he himself was slain by another knight of the kingsguard, Barristan the bold. Maelys’s son Maenar was also killed by Maelys when he tried to bring back dragons. Gods I wish the other blackfyres were written about more.
Actually liked this episode more than what happened in the books and thats sorta the first time ive been watching this show that ive really felt like that other than them having viserys having a long running illness over season 1 rather than just him dying in his sleep in the books.
Tbh they don't have a reason. Rebellions like the blackfyre cause would dissolve with Daemons death. By the time they mustered the troops, marched south and what not the war would be decided either way. Raising troops unnecessarily wastes food and needed manpower for taking in the harvest. The north exists in a state of razor thin subsistence farming, fishing and hunting
given we are getting Dunk and Egg i 100% suspect they are laying the ground work for this after House Of The Dragon. I mean they could still call it House of the dragon if they wanted and make it an anthology
Given how Bloodraven is the most magic oriented (at least by current evidence, Quaithe may match him if the theories of her being Shierra Seastar are true), a very interesting alternate timeline would be if Bloodraven hadn't been exiled to the Wall. It was only 64 years after Bloodraven joined the Night's Watch that Daenaerys was able to hatch dragons. And the tragedy of Summerhall is rumoured to be a botched attempt to hatch dragon eggs, that took place when Bloodraven and Shierra, house Targaryen's most proficient magic users, and Maester Aemon, arguably their most proficient scholar, were all absent. Aemon may have only gone to the Night's Watch because Bloodraven did, given its implied they worked closely. And Shierra isn't really mentioned after the Blackfyre rebellions. Dany's only supernatural ability (by Targaryen standards) in the books is being a dreamer. They could almost all ride dragons given their blood. Bloodraven and Shierra (if the rumours are true) had a lot more power and expertise to work with. So if Bloodraven, Shierra and Aemon were all still present and active members or leaders of the dragon hatching project, I reckon they'd have succeeded in hatching a dragon for Aegon V, especially if Dany's virtuous character contributed to whatever forces aided her in developing her blood magic ritual. Aegon V aka Aegon the Unlikely was initially very far down in the line of succession. Due to his relative unimportance he was allowed to travel with Dunk amongst the smallfolk, coming to genuinely care for their wellbeing when he eventually became king. He wanted dragons not to subjugate the smallfolk but to force his lords into submission so they couldn't resist his reforms to aid the smallfolk. It's very similar to Dany using her dragons to atone for the atrocities of Old Valyria by fighting to abolish slavery. Aegon V works to amend the mistakes of Aegon the Conqueror's heirs, like Maegor the Cruel, the Blacks and the Greens, and Aegon the Unworthy (Aegon IV). So in an alternate timeline, I reckon Bloodraven, Shierra and Aemon succeed in developing a ritual that hatches a dragon egg for Aegon V, and it's likely at least Bloodraven, Shierra and Prince Duncan (Aegon V's son) would have become dragon riders shortly after. (Edit: Given Prince Duncan abdicated the throne, if there was a limited supply of eggs it's possible he wouldn't have become a dragon rider, and that Jaehaerys would have become a dragon rider instead. And again depending on egg supply, since Jaeherys died three years later (poisoned by our enemies, the infamous House 'Sudden Illness'), it's possible Aerys, the Mad King, would have been among the foremost dragon riders. That... could've been very bad)
Maelys is still my favorite blackfyre. THE MONSTER OF ESSOS! THE BEAST OF THE EAST! If Andre the Giant. The wrestler was still alive. I'd want him to play Maelys. That would of been my dream casting!
Why did Aegor mistrust Daemon II’s dreams? Is it because he knew Blood Raven messed with dreams? Or did Blood Raven only mess with dreams later in life? Or was Daemon II just a dud and Aegor knew it?
some of the middle section is taken from the Daeron ii / Aenys i series with some stuff cut out to make it more focused, the opening section is new, The Great Council of 233 is different from the Maekar Series with much more focus on Bloodraven and Aenys rather than Aegon V, 4th Blackfyre Rebellion and War of Ninepenny Kings is new. i'd estimate 50/50 new and old.
Do we think Bloodraven actually used magic arrows full of EVIL!!!!! or did Daemon and his two sons just die from random arrows fired from random archers?

I don't really think it counts as an official house or cadet branch. He was a bastard until his father died and pretty much rebelled against the new king immediately.
I believe Damon Blackfyre's real father was Baelor The Blessed and not Aegon The Unworthy and the Dareon II real father was also not Aegon The Unworthy but Prince Aemon the Dragon Knight so this means that although Dareon sat the throne he was an actual bastard and Damon Blackfyre had the higher claim being Baelor's only living son and surviving heir. This makes their entire conflict ironic and a twist. If you don't believe me just go back and look at Fire & Blood or the ASOFI wiki and read about Daena The Defiant and tell me she wasn't successful in consummating her marriage and the entire circumstances of Baelor's death suspicious at best. The same goes for Aemon and Naerys Targaryen, their relationship is a mirror of Cersei-Jamie's relationship to come except with all the toxicity. There was no love in her marriage to Aegon The Unworthy and Aegon hated Aemon all the way until his death, the answers are all right there for the reader to draw the same conclusion. Dareon II isn't Aegon's. Aegon threatened to disinherit him many times, we may never know why he did. Maybe Dareon II already had too much political power and favors. I think Aegon The Unworthy only had 3 Great Bastards and not 4 (excluding Damon) and those were Aegor Rivers, Brynden Rivers, Shiera Seastar. People like to say this was a quick and short conflict but there are so many layers to this story that the human drama in my opinion is superior to the Dance Of Dragons.
