The Secrets of the Ancients | Stargate Lore

- Опубліковано 25 січ 2022
- An examination of the secret history of the Ancients, builders of the Stargate and how the race of Alterans that accomplished this would come to be remembered only through myths and legends. They would be known by many names, the Ancients, The Ancestors, The Lanteans, The Gate Builders. Though gone from the physical plane, the Ancient’s legacy in the Milky Way and Pegasus Galaxies would live on through the secrets they left behind.

I love these Stargate videos. The ancients lore is pretty deep. Wasn't the destiny also on a mission to track down the origin of a frequency at the universe's center while also seeding it with new stargates? Wish they had a chance to explore that more.
Correct! I just wish we had gotten a third season, as I would have loved to see what happened with Eli on the screen, and not just in the comics....
@@ninjabreadman8166 wait there's a comic that carries the story on?
@@jacobleonard5138 Yea, but I don't know how far they go, and I don't know how long they ran for. Still, they are out there, and can likely be read on some site or another. Happy Hunting! 😊
They were studying the cosmic microwave background
Technically destiny and it's seedships didn't seed entire galaxies just a fairly narrow corridor they took through each of them. It's part of the comics that some of those version 1 gates remained around the Milky Way and Pegasus but it's not clear if the Ancients ever bothered to use them either to reach Pegasus before the city ships or even to get around pegasus before the new gate network was done. I always got the feeling they meant to try and use those gates to reach Destiny but it'd required an idiotic number of ZPMs to cross thousands of intergalactic gaps ( unless they'd involve the repentant Priors in an effort to set up a string of supergates like the old gate-bridge but with each of those supergates multiple galaxies apart so they might catch up in 5 years or so.)
I was always a little torn on the Ancients. On the one hand, I admire their achievements; they were a truly advanced race, and had they not been overrun by the Wraith, just imagine what further advancements they could have gained.
But they were pretty high-handed to the Pegasus Team when they returned to Atlantis, especially since they were discovered by a Tau'ri ship in deep space. They had a ton of knowledge, but it seemed often that their wisdom hadn't kept pace with it, and that more than anything was what hurt them the most, imo.
Just as a side note, it always bugged me that Stargate Command never sent a follow-up mission to that planet where Ernest was trapped for all those years. I mean, obviously the Stargate ended up getting buried as that part of the castle collapsed, but once we had ships with ftl drives like Prometheus, I kept wondering why Daniel at least didn't push to go back and at least see if it was possible to salvage that machine with the knowledge of the Four Races, especially since he was so eager to stay behind with it in the first place
Rodney certainly had thoughts on their high opinion of themselves in spite of their many, many screwups.
@@CantankerousDave in all fairness to the Ancients, Rodney has thoughts on everyone that wasn't Rodney. But I actually tend to agree with him on that score. They were brilliant, but they had a strong tendency to miss the forest for all the trees.
The Ancients are indeed a master class on the dangers of outsmarting yourself.
@@erikbjelke4411 indeed
@@erikbjelke4411 I get the feeling _THAT_ is why they don't interfere. 🤣 They fucked up enough for one Universal lifetime.
The lore behind the Ancients was my fav part of Stargate? I especially loved how they tied it in with existing earth mythological characters like Merlin and the Arthurian legends

One of the most underrated sci fi series, it does not need to be reboot, it needs to be reborn and rise again
Now that the series The Expanse has concluded, leaving at least 3 books uncovered, would you be able to do some of these videos explaining things like the Ringbuilders, the Protomolecule, and the Ring Entities?
Thanks for the suggestion! I'd love to but I'd have to have time to read those books first!
The Expanse needs a spinoff series to further explore and expand Corey's books
@@NerdCookies When or if your time allows, please consider reading them. I really found The Expanse to be on par with masterpieces such as R.D. Moore's BSG, Firefly, and the like. I'm still reading the novels myself, but I am particularly enamored with the authors' portrayal of the societal evolution humanity could undergo as we reach Mars and beyond.
This was in my recommended and I’ve never seen so happy to see a recommended video.
The Ancients was indeed highly developed with superior intellectual capacity but in that they also was bereft of the ability to fend for themselves as with the Wraith they should have easily swatted this race away but did not as they lacked the capacity to think in a military way and the Wraith understood this and used it against them.
Gradually along their history they lost something.
There is a belief among fans at least that when they sat down and conjured up the second evolution of their form they knowingly made humans more aggressive in order to be able EVEN if it took them longer to evolve to both be intelligent and military.
Loved this video.
I wonder if the ascended ancients ever found out the answer to the question Destiny was built to do.
Yea there is a comic that explains the purpose as well as shows further exploration of the ship. They never completely explored the ship in the show.
They probably know but cant tell you
I believe it had something to do with the Destiny crew themselves. Like something similar to the Novus incident but instead of going back 2,000 years it was billions. Disappointing in my opinion.
Won’t
Thanks to this channel, my brother is impressed by my Ascension to dorkyness above him.
That's hard to do....
In SGA, it is stated they were not overrun and could have stalemated the Wraith indefinitely due to the vastly superior knowledge and technology. However, they were so close to direct ascension and their numbers were so small that they decided it was better to simply pursue that route for further development.
If the Wraith never got ahold of a ZPM to supercharge their expansion they would have been nothing more than a nuisance.
I recently discovered your channel, and I am really enjoying it. Thanks!

Sad that the Asgard were not able to ascend. I wish they had figured out another way.
It is my understanding that there were some that ascended before their genetic code prevented them from doing so. Also, don’t forget the Vanir in the Pegasus galaxy.
@@anonymoose9315 The writers certainly seemed to.
@@CantankerousDave The Vanir were introduced post Asgard kaboom iirc.
It's hard to keep the timeline straight sometimes. 🤣
Thank you!!!
I really enjoyed this video on the Ancients. I love how all the lore is spread out throughout all the series and slowly coalesce into a great backstory that fits the history and lore of Earth. The mystery of the "Ring" at the beginning really grabbed my interest in their story.
Thank you!!! Huge fan of all shows Stargate!!!!! So much back story!! So many tales left untold! So many questions begging for answers!!!!
I hadn't realized that the Stargate universe was so big. I wish I'd delved into it a long time ago. 🤖👾👽
Multiple galaxies big. 😎
Its a fun trip. I am not a huge fan of Star Gate Universe because of a relationship in it, and most of the humour was gone. But it had the same writers so it stays in cannon.
I recommend going thought it all.

Huge Star Gate all three series. Was really disappointed that Star Gate Destiny was canceled so soon. Really wanted to know what that organized signal the Ancients had discovered before the Big Bang. The Ancients were awesome. Wish the fan base found out what galaxy the Ancients originated from. But I guess that is left up to the imagination. As always thanks for sharing, love the channel and all that Nerd. Have a very Cosmic Day. Be safe.😁❤👽🤓👍
Me too disappointed
Let me explain the cancelation, stargate atlantis fans, bent out of shape vowed to boycott Universe, add on the sci-fi channel was more interested in wrestling and ghost hunting, they moved universe around until the fan base dropped off enough to cancel it. I stopped paying for the scifi channel as they were no longer interested in science fiction, just showing garbage reality shows. So the Stargate fans are to blame, as it was a futile attempt to bring back the finished, completed other shows.
@@Maples01 Well I appreciate that explanation. And I do recollect Sci Fi showing wrestling. I was like what does the WWE have anything to do with science fiction 🤔 😅 😕???? Major inquire there. I think in general the whole " reality" craze really ruined many channels formats, prime example MTV. I certainly don't want my MTV now, do you?? Again thank you for the explanation. Appreciate it. Have a great and safe day. 😁🙏🤓👍
@@michaelhearson Remember Scifi in 1998, Farscape, The Lexx, Stargate all in one night, Lexx came on at 9 or 10pm as it really pushed the censors.
@@Maples01Yes, I do remember that. Big fan of Farscape, unique and different sci fi. I really didn't get into Lexx to much not much of a fan. But I do remember that Lexx was a bit explicit at times. Thinking about it Farscape had some " interesting scenes ", but I felt Lexx was a little sexualized then the Farscape though. But I do agree both shows were a bit edgy ish back then.
Loved this video! Felt a lot like you were giving an in-universe presentation on The Ancients :D
Subscribed for the Dune content, very happy I did! Now I watch every upload!
Thank you so much for Stargate lore!
Just finished Stargate SG1 in November! Watched it a little, not enough to know the characters, when I was younger and it was on TV.
Great series, Cowboy Teal’c!
In Stargate Universe a discovery was made of the true mission of the Destiny, a structure of intelligent design in the background radiation of the visible universe, what became of that story thread and is there any scope for visiting this idea again in future Stargate projects?
it was a Koala bear on the back of someone.
They've tried to resurrect the series several times, but it's not likely to happen.
When the Halo game's first started they had a very similar back story. In Halo 1 and 2 the Forerunners were super advanced ancient humans who were driven to extinction by a parasitic lifeform called the Flood. The Forerunners seeded human life on Earth. Later Microsoft changed the lore and made the Forerunners a separate species.
In the early games it was never confirmed that the Forerunners were Human. That is an assumption.
@@eodyn7 No, it's a fact.
the forerunners were not humans in the Halo universe, but there was an ancient human species with advanced technology living at the same period, that the forerunners subsequently seeded Earth with to continue their legacy.
@@SniperiusForever both the ancient humans and forerunners were created by another highly advanced race that was a tier 0 civilization on the technological scale made by the forerunners to measure the technological advancements of a species.
@@SniperiusForever That is 343 lore, in the Bungie lore for the original Halo 2 ending it was revealed that the Forerunner were human or at least closely related. By Halo 3 they were split on whether humans were forerunner survivors or more primitive iteration of forerunners that were seeded on Earth.
Neglectful Precursors Lesson 101: The Ancients.
In all seriousness, I do actually really like them. They made huge mistakes, sure, but that's what comes when you gain such immense knowledge and power. And they did do a lot of good. I really respect their idea of non-interference, since they do have godlike power, it would be entirely too easy to make the universe better. . . in *their* perception, which may not be a perception shared by the ones they're supposedly making the universe better for. At most, guide with wisdom and present the choices, but always let the younger races choose.
Would love to see a video on my favorite SG-1 aliens, the Tok'ra!
The Ancients civil war is very interesting. At the same time what a bummer their history is a looooooooong line of how they lost every major battle they came up against.
Stargate is my favorite series, you totally nailed it.
This is really good, and you have a great voice - it sounds like an Ancient.
Yesss this videos are so informative stargate has been my favorite franchise of all times..please do more

More great work! Tyvm
Very nice video and very beautiful voice with relevant narration. Congratulations and Many Thanks.
Another great video
Loved this.
Thank you.
You left out the factions of Ancients. Atlantean ancients that survived (or didn't ascend) the plague and headed to the Pegasus galaxy experimented with immortality with the Iratus bug, the Atlanteans also built machines to try and force ascension. The two factions of Alterans were divided amongst those who were materialist (not the $ kind, the science kind) and the spiritualists. Spiritualists focused on ascending, while the materialists focused on improving science, the latter of which experimented with the Iratus bug and left their technology around the universe, carelessly. This is also why the ascended ancients are mostly against interfering with the universe, they saw the problems their own people created for the younger races.
Wow this would made a great preface of a new Stargate series. !
Your voice...soothing, you're knowledge fascinating. Thank you my lady
I LOVE THESE STARGATE INFO VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a great universe created. I think this universe building is as good as Dune, The Foundation, and Star Wars, as evidenced by 17 seasons spread out over three different shows. One thing about the Alterans: no matter how advanced they became, ultimately they were fallible human beings.
You’re comparing stargate to the god fathers of sci-fi? Yeah calm down dude.
Excellent post, like honey on a spoon to this long time SG fan, thanks heaps ❤
stargate and mass effect have alot in common
Not even close, there were no beings destroying all advanced civilizations every 50,000 years just to prevent artificial intelligence. Tho that was not the plan for mass effect but was what we got, it's why after 3 the next was a dismal failure, all those originally involved in the story started leaving by the time of the second game, when EA acquired it. If EA owned the Stargate series, it would never have made syndication, not even one season.
Great lore video well done. It would be great to have a new series.
Excellent run down of Stargate the ancient's, eventhough I've Seen all the Stargate TV Series and movies Countless times, I love everything Stargate, I showed my little nephew's your UA-cam vids there first time Seeing about Stargate they loved it everytime they Come to my house that's all they want to watch STARGATE they get mad Sometimes if I watch without them 😆 Lol
Nice video. I really appreciate it. ;)
Though I have to say you have some events out of order. You mentioned the Alliance of the Great races happening before Pegasus. That is incorrect as the alliance happened rather recently as stated by the Commander of the Vanir, Asgard Civ existed only for 100 thousand years. So the alliance could not have happened before (or at least the Alliance we know of) the Ancients left for Pegasus, which was 5-10 mil years ago.
And another thing is that imbreading thing. Nowhere in the show was it ever mention or at least implied that the imbreading gave us ATA gene. That is just a mere speculation. We have no reason to think the ATA is artificial gene in the Ancient Genepool. Thus it is logical that it would develop in us as well as we are an ospring species to them.
Other than that, I really liked it. (yet it was kinda shame that Dakara was not even mentioned. It would desserve it as it was the first planet they settled and the role it played later during the plague ;) )
Anyway thanks for your work and have a very good time.
Thanks for the feedback! The lore here seems to be kind of messy (and contradictory TBH). When the Ancients returned to the Milky Way after they fled the Pegasus galaxy, they chose to integrate with humanity or ascend so I don't believe its reasonable for them to have formed the alliance at that point. As you say it is established that the Asgard history doesn't go back millions of years, especially not in the Milky Way. However, I just went with the explanation that makes the most sense to me. Namely that the Alterans would have joined that alliance at the height of their power instead of when they were at their weakest point on the physical plane. If the latter were the case then I feel that they would have little to nothing to offer the alliance at that point aside from knowledge.
@@NerdCookies well not entirely, there is still quite a big gap where the Alliance could have been. In 5x22 we learned that the Asgards were already quite advanced 30 thousand years ago. Thus the Alliance could may have been happening since 30k to 10k ago. that is still a long time for it. And sure, I do not beleve The ancients did anything important as a civ after they returned to Earth. They were preaty much done.
The interesting thing is that in Atlantis it's established that the Vanir followed the Ancients to Pegasus. They expected the Ancients to win the war against the wraith but when the wraith won, they lost their intergalactic travel capabilities and hid out on a toxic planet with breathing apparatuses. Then in his words they were there for "eons" as the planet's atmosphere got worse. To me this supports the idea that the Asgard may have existed before the Ancients even went to the Pegasus.
Also with the established timeline of the rise of the Goa'uld there was really no time for the four races to operate as an alliance and no evidence that they worked together to counteract the Goa'uld empire after the Ancient's return to the Milky Way. The Ancients (presumably with their newly forged alliance) couldn't even protect or liberate earth from Ra's domination. So if that's the case, the alliance was pretty much DOA. That doesn't seem to fit with the idea that it was truly an Alliance of Four *Great* Races
@@NerdCookies There is one problem. Lore regarding the rise of the Goauld is not part of the series. It exists only as a part of the EU. That kinda puts it on a lower tier as the show never took the EU into account and in few cases downright ignored it.
But in any case. Vanir did not "follow" the ancients when they left MW. They went there only near the end of the war so roughly around 10k ago. And yeah 10K years fits to "eons" to me.
But one more thing regarding the rise of the Goauld. It is explicitly stated in SG1 3x03 that the Asgards were forced to ignore the Goaulds until they became a real threat (presumably because of the Replis). I would say the same applies to the Ancients as they had issues of their own not to mention that 30k ago I do not think Goaulds were considered more then a nuisance. But at least some action against them was taken by the anciens - Goauld safeguards in their tech as seen in "the fifth race". With this all said, I think 30-10k period not only fits the established canon, it makes sense and it does not contradict anything said or shown in the series.
To me it doesn't seem to fit in with the idea that the Asgard made contact with the Ancients after they returned to the Milky Way. Also I think it's possible that Thor's remark about 10s of thousands of years of history for their civilization could leave it open for a previous Asgard civilization to have existed prior to the Ancients second exodus.
Excellent video very informative
When sci-fi was just sci-fi... Sundays on channel 4, SG1 was fantastic.
Hate to burst the bubble, but the wraith were originally an alteran/ lantean creation, one that eventually got out of control and turned against them, the wraith were a classified project, not many new about it.
Are you getting this from the books or something? Because in Atlantis, they were essentially a neglected accident until their numbers grew too large to ignore

I like the Puddle-jumper. I’ll take one with a ZPM power upgrade. I won’t mind being a taxi for NASA.
The stargate series helped shape and spark my imagination when I was younger
Apparently there was some ending written that they found janus on the moon with a ton of zpms and i forget most of it lol but they go back to smack the wraith. 🤷♂️🙃
I was sad to see star gate universe get canceled. The lore and the richness of the SG universe is just great.
I was glad to see it go. The degradation of society and modern tv entertainment is evident here as it portrayed unnecessary high school drama between the popular kids, the nerds, and everyone else. You’d think if you’re millions of millions of light years from home you’d get over the high school drama and tend to figure things out like adults. If I were on that ship I’d ditch it at the nearest inhabitable planet and live out my life in peace. The behavior shown in SGU is the reason people up and leave society to go live in the mountains alone. The show was garbage.
I 💘 this lady who narrates these stargate lore videos voice. I wish she could narrate the story of my life, I know that joint would be 🔥....

i love youre videos , i want to do this, how did you start out on video editing? cause youre effing awesome. and i wanna create quality on your level!
It's a great video, but (and there are spoilers below for anyone who has not watched Atlantis so be warned):
You left out the bit where the Ancients created the Replicators as a last ditch effort to combat the Wraith and then turned on their creation once they realized what sort of monster they created.
I can't wait to see new stargate
My heart will always be with the Destiny. Travelling the stars and seeding exploration umungst the stars.
No, it was an automated seed ship. The humans just hooked a ride.
They built some incredible stuff
You missed their biggest and most mysterious secret, Destiny wasn't just an automated ship designed to fly to other galaxies and place stargates. It was designed to go and explore the the biggest mystery to the Ancients themselves, a strange message hidden in the cosmic microwave background.
The alterans were interesting and certainly deserve respect for their accomplishments, but it is made very clear in the show that they are not as wise or enlightened as they were made to be.
Yeahhhhh let’s get more Stargate stuff up in here
The lore of STARGATE is God tier…you can’t change my mind! 😤
STARGATE ASMR. I’m here for it :D
I hope stargate comes back.
I really hope that if Amazon buys MGM they green light a new Stargate series and that it focuses on the ancients, either directly in terms of a prequel(maybe war with the wraith or something from millions of years ago) or in an ancillary way like SGU
I like how they made the Ancients imperfect. Them being amongst the first sentient beings in the universe means that they had no help with their progress as a species and had to do things "trial by error" to attain many of their own achievements. This means a lot of mistakes would be made along the way but that's realistic. It would've sucked if they were perfect from the beginning. 😊👍
I hope that since these videos are coming out, a new Stargate will be dropping soon.
hoping this series continue..
Not a thing missed . Bravo on a galactic scale
Excellent video. Thank you !
Did the ancients have ever follow the Destiny ship?
As I understood it, the original society from which the Ancients come didn’t call itself Alteran. The Alteran name means “the others,” as in opposition to the Ori.
alternan's, please watch forbidden planet, all will be explained, one of the greatest sci films ever made
I think how they continuously failed and were beaten back because of their philosophical ways is interesting. They had all this knowledge and power but rarely fought with it that caused them to lose against many they should have been able to beat. I like that even as great technologically they were, disease still could ravage them.
I really felt like Destiny was beginning to gain traction. Definitely canceled too soon and sad to see the story come to an end.
Destiny problem was that the characters didn’t want to be there so that negativity rubbed off on the audience and we didn’t want to be there either. I know i tune out after rush acted shady for the 3rd time while Young act unreasonable suspicious for the 4th time. it gets old.
Not to mention they ripped off battlestar too much and some fucking how the Lucian alliance was more advance than the SGC as they got a foothold on the Destiny. like wtf?
i really want them to continue the destiny story and also continue the stargate SG1 storyline .. as not all the ori would have been cured and also the vacuum of power between the 3 galaxies spanning the different shows has been left hanging
Why have they not done a prequel show about the Atlanteans?
Whisper in my ear all day n night 😉
Stargate was such a great series! Big fan! I ever had mixed emotions about the Ancients. On one hand they are the superior race of pacifists and sincetists, great mentors for other younger races. As beings of pure energy they are also extremely powerful. But on the other hand they made catastrophic mistakes with terrible consequences for the universe. For example failed ki experiments with robots which resulted in the rise of the Replicators. And lets not forget Anubis was also a (psychpathic) member of this race. They sent him back physically to the mortal world with all the knowledge in his head, only to get infected by a Goa'uld snake. Then the whole galaxy is going to suffer and the poor excuse of them is not to interfere in mortal problems, even if trillions are going to die.
Anubis wasn't an Ancient. Rather, he was a Goa'uld who tricked Oma Desala into helping him Ascend, which granted him all the knowledge of the Ancients. The Ascended kicked him out of their club, which yes let him torment the mortal plane with his knowledge and power (though he was still limited in how exactly he could use it), but that Anubis kicked around for so long was solely the fault of Oma. She knew exactly what the Ascended were demanding of her: clean up her own mess. She just refused to do so for far too long.
Petition to have the Milky Way officially renamed Avalon
there is not much on the furlings they sound like Ewoks but over time things change and everything was lost, that is why i like to re-discover things that was once lost
In my head canon I always believed that the result of seeding humans on other planets in the Milky Way resulted in the creation of the Asgard, Furlings, and Nox. Each race was human essentially until genetic manipulation and evolution changed them.
The asguard aren’t from the Milky Way. They are from the ida galaxy. The Knox also I think are too advanced to have originated with humans.
@@ericsmith8129 the Altarans came to the Milky Way millions of years before. They certainly could have explored Ida and easily seeded it millions of years in the past. Also Harlan’s people, whom became androids were quite advanced thousands of years in the past and were from the Milky Way. They were also humans. In those millions of years the Asgard, Furlings, and Nox could have evolved.
I love stargate. I especially love the alterans. Just one point of their story i do not like: looking at the pace of their tech progression and timeline, their society must have remained in virtual tech stasis for centuries before any advancements were discovered.
Have you considered covering a video game franchise? I don't know if you've ever played Bioshock but I've lot to hear your thoughts on that series.
Good suggestion! I love the aesthetic but I'd have to get familiar with it before I could attempt covering any lore
Oh, thank you so much for your response. Yeah, Bioshock lore is quite rich and in-depth, I recommend reading the novel in addition to playing the games. Do take your time 😃
I want to know more about the Ancients. #WeWantStargate
9:06 I can't help but think that to them it was basically like fucking a monkey 🤣🤣🤣
Their vast knowledge, whereas we're just discovering numbers
0:10 to 0:30 This is why I shall never again call my galaxy the Milky Way. Avalon it is and ever shall be called until the heat death of the Universe.
Indeed.
Heh I do have a soft spot for Stargate it’s sometimes like the forgotten child of the ‘Star’ franchises
We need to design a stargate for the Steam Punk planet!
Imagine if this all already happened but the government hides it from is, so they just made this show, something like the X-Treme Wormhole I think it was called
8:07 it didn't happen naturally if I recall, the ancients found the insect and they themselves modifies their dna with it
It was like a research project that went wrong and when the first ten subjects managed to break out they quickly reproduced
It's my view that the Pegasus galaxy is not nearby. Unless you consider 300 million light-years to be a short distance.
I would love to know what they where like around the era they abandoned Destiny to just run on autopilot for millions of years. SGU alluded to how Destiny wasn't just a seed ship but also had a function to collect data and look for background code suggesting they wanted to "find god" or "the programmers." I doubt there is much in the way of cannon on that though since it was barely touched upon in SGU before they cancelled it.
@CartoonHero1986: canon* (cannon = really big gun) 🤔
I think the Ancients greatest feat truth be told was there own version of the replicators. They won the war with the wraith and nearly perfectly emulated the ancients down to their desire to ascend even.
Correction: they lost the war and ran away to the Milkyway
@@krane15I am talking about the replicators
Ascension is what I would want to learn more about. Like is it fake or possible to achieve in real life.
Do you think the G'hould can blend with a Wraith just curious.
Yes. Recall they could possess the primitive Unas to Adria the near ascended Ori. But why would they want to blend with the Wraith? They were vain creatures and preferred human bodies.
you should do a video on the forerunners from halo
The big kahuna burger is the mission of the Destiny, surely?
The Ancients’ discovery of evidence of intelligent life pre-dating The Big Bang, and therefore a previous universe, with a race or races advanced enough to place a marker into the fabric of our nascent Universe, and to have that marker survive for those advanced enough to discern it‽
Fuck, that was big…
Ok here is a theory. Lanteans are not referenced in the flash back at the start of ark of truth. This could mean at Lanteans where a later group of Ancients. We do not know the reasons and goals of the Ori as we have only been informed about them from their enemy the Lanteans. It seems super unlikely a civilization would last a billion years. OK here is a theory. Seeding worlds is part of the life/species cycle of the Ancients. It would explain the hugely different technologies discovered from the Ancients, like the ori, Lantean destiny, atlantis, the random stuff left behind for season 9-10 of stargate and the Tin Man from the first season of sg1 because they do not fit in the timeline for human development.
IDK anyone think that the 'Ancients' are doing sometime of a life cycle seeding worlds or am i reaching for reusable straws?
a war where they most likely wouldn't win, i find this concept silly as the Alterans were an advanced race while the Ori were constantly stripping themselves away from advancing in tech into a religion who didn't use tech of any kind for the worshipers.
i have also read that the Ori didn't ascend until after the Alterans did, which is also silly considering the first thing i just stated.
now it could be that people just have this understanding backwards and the Ori were ascended at this time and the Alterans struggle would make much more sense given the circumstances.
Stargates...Guardian on the edge of forever. Things that make you go hmm??
Keep baking
I hope when they come out with a new series we finally get to see the Furlings
