Hi Hal There is an actual picture of the great white that landed on Alex Mamacos, as they were winching it off the boat at the dock. It's in the book Shark Attack In Southern African Waters And Treatment Of Victims by Doctor Tim Wallet. A great book if you can track it down. Published 1978. I have a 1983 reprint. Definitely a great white. Hard to tell the length but at least 10ft or 11ft. The boat was a 6 metre ski boat. Mamacos had a "crushed pelvic girdle". Cheers 👍
Thanks for that extra wee bit of info brother. I wonder if we can get that book online? I’ll look for it. South Africa was worse than Guadalupe back then.
@@kieranhart5776 Hi. I've seen second hand copies online yes. Look around. You should find it. I just looked. I saw some although they had blue covers. Mine is a red cover. OH MAN OH MAN!! Thank you Hal again for Truth reporting. There is no way I am ever going on a small boat let alone swimming in the ocean!!! SCARY !!! GREAT STORIES!!
The odds of it happening to you aren't great at all. You can see drone footage of sharks checking out swimmers and surfers. Most of the time they don't bother you. But if they're hungry or starving or they're just having a bad day, look out. Sometimes sharks attack for what seems like no reason at all. They even do this with seals and sea lions occasionally where they bite them in half and swim away without ever even eating. They've done this with people as well.
After seeing them jumping on boats, taking people from boats, and even the one where the shark actually getting into the shark cage - I know what hobby I’m NOT taking up!

Hahaha that’s funny. But yeah definitely better safe than sorry. I didn’t have the hard hat so went with my Harley helmet. I looked ridiculous but safely got the rocks I needed!

The harbor in Key West is full of large bull sharks which hang around the un-railed boardwalk where the fishing charters cut bait and clean their catches (near the White Tarpon). A show just on Key West attacks would be interesting.

Hal, if you happen to read this, Ty for your great content! In the Video with the Mako on the boat, they were able to to drop the Mako into the water after several mins with a rope tied to its tail. They hung it over side, and cut the rope off which allowed the Mako to make a fast get away alive to swim and breach a boat another day! 😅 Also just curious I'm from Texas and we pronounce lasso as Las-so, while Hal pronounces it as Las-sue. My wife and I just bought our second boat. We bought a nice little boat for our first boat. It was an 18' aluminum fishing and sport boat. It had a nice set up but the engine needed some work. We got caught in a fast moving thunderstorm in the middle of the lake with a stalling engine. Even with two bilge pumps running it was raining so hard the boat began to swamp. There's over 17,000 alligators in this 12 sq mile lake. You go down and you're swimming with the gators. My wife is awesome she stayed calm with full trust in me to get us back to safety. Personally I was having a near heart attack, panic attack and already planning on our next boat😂. I sold that boat and bought a 19' CC with a self bailing deck and I added a 3rd bilge pump. If you boat in Florida there's more than just obstacles to worry about and what's in the water is only half the worries. Fast moving daily thunderstorms down here can really get nast fast. That day it went from 92 degrees to 72 degrees in 10 minutes and wind gusts close to 45 mph with like 6" of rain an hour and lightning strikes everywhere around the lake. It lasted roughly an hour. Storms like this have reaped havoc on the bigger lakes and capsized 5 or 6 boats in one storm. The same thing happens on the ocean but in a much larger scale. One thing is for sure in Florida if you go boating and something goes wrong and you end up in the water. Your either swimming with sharks or gators and sometimes both. In my opinion every life vest should have a standard issued 38 revolver attached to it in Florida like the world war one pilots😂
I know that panic attack feeling. Think it is the same one that flight crew that got lost in the Bermuda Triangle had before hitting the water. Gators are my only concern if the boat goes down now

However, I'm not sure where the 20' length came from?

Hi, Hal! You are so right! People, DO NOT be hanging over the side of the boat to get a better view or pic of these creatures! They CAN pluck you off, or out, of a boat before you can finish a single blink. 99% of the time, they are checking you out as a source of food; they ARE sizing YOU up & the boat, "...hmmm, I'm hungry, and that boat is NOT much of a deterrent..."!
These are freak accidents that he's describing. Youve seen way too many movies. You're much more likely to die in a car accident than get attacked by especially...let alone get "plucked" like you're describing. Ive never heard of that happening before

Thanks Hal 🎉🎉🎉
My goodness! Hal, what's the footage of the shark in the pix behind you? That puppy looks monstrous!
DRY ATTACKS😩 YOU GOT MY ATTENTION THIS IS WHY I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO GO ON A BOAT ON THE OCEAN EVER AGAIN 🤣👏💃 AND I'M FREAKING SERIOUS 😂... OH AND BY THE WAY HELLO HALL🎉😁😅
1000s of fishermens tales are like this
Seals, turtles, penguins have all taken refuge on a boat from predators. I wonder if the sharks were doing the same thing!?
I live in Tennessee I can't swim so I ain't got no worries on a shark getting me. I don't go without watching your video!! You top the show off with certain comments you add. For instance what was you thinking!!😂
Never knew. Don't want to find out👀
These are freak accidents that he's describing. Youve seen way too many movies. You're much more likely to die in a car accident than get attacked by especially...let alone get "plucked" like you're describing. Ive never heard of that happening before
Youve seen too many movies and are a sensationalist
I know the mako clip you're referring to. Someone told me they managed to free it and get it back into the water but I don't know that for certain! I hope they were able to save it 🙏 🦈 ❤
Yes. They showed them get it out into the water but i didnt watch to see it swim off. Just couldnt believe how big that tail fin was…
@@SharksHappen yeah, agreed! Take care, Bud! Keep making these videos... I can't get enough of them!
