completely agree with you, its a shame that the government do not fund this sort of dentistry for all citizens as it should be a right. but in my opinion the dentist surely can not be expected to bridge the financial gap in the manufacturing process out of money for his/her own pocket. if we pay £280 for dentures on the NHS and the dentist gets roughly half of it, (with the practice owner getting the other half), which is typical, then s/he has to make the top and bottom set for less then £140 in total for it to make the dentist any money at all. I was shocked when i found out that the NHS fees most of us pay account for over 90% of what the practice gets in total, so in reality our tax doesn't go towards our dentistry. @@debbielosli830 It is super hard to tell the difference between a cheaper and a premium material as a patient. Both come in different colours and with and without fibers. The lesser the better becuase it can cause allergic reactions and irritations of the tissue. Another factor is the shrinkage of the material. Over time they tend to shrink a little. Some materials shrink more than others. The premium material used in the video is a hot polymerisation material which compensates a lot of the shrinkage and because of the heat has very little monomer left in the denture. The UK tariffs set by the government for NHS treatments are far too low I'm not surprised fewer and fewer dentists are taking in NHS patients - I've just started a treatment plan which will cost just over £1000 for 3 lower teeth extractions today 2 more extractions next week and then replacement dentures - I think it's well worth it - final day for the dentures to be fitted is December 7th (it's October 31 today) after Christmas will crack on and have one upper extraction and a replacement denture made to include this tooth ( I already have one with 3 upper teeth on) can't wait to get it all over with 😬

Sorry but it feels icky to see them flat out say that someone using the NHS will be getting poorer denture quality than “Private”. Everyone deserves the same and best care provided possible. On top of that, it’s very counterproductive for the NHS to only pay for the worse set of teeth than private because, as they said in the video, the NHS teeth will wear down much quicker and even go as far as to cause new jaw problems for the patient, unlike the private teeth. The NHS will then have to pay for another set of teeth AND pay to fix the jaw problems created by the “cheap” teeth. At that rate, the NHS will end up having to pay a lot more than what the private had to pay. Wtf? Just give the patient the best quality of teeth there is from the beginning so that they don’t have to go through all this pain. It will save money in the long run.
And it’s not cheaper or more cost effective since they will break more often and will need to be replaced. Wouldn’t it make more sense to make great, solid dentures for everyone so they need them once? I’m in the USA and my mother has had the same denture for over 40 years because it was made the very best.
Every denture I had Brock or crack I get on NHS but still have to pay there no refund or replacement you have to keep paying they last no more then 2 years if your lucky
My cheap denture broke and cost $175 to fix so I could eat and then broke in same spot 2 days later and it's a money scheme, I made my own with acrylic and put brass mesh in the middle for extra strength and 5 years later my denture I made works great and cost $ $30 to make,,,,,,dentures are a big money scam,,they cost nothing to make and easy to make but they charge $3000 for a denture that costs $20 in materials to make
I'm in Pasadena, California. Is there any dentist office I should check out and get a replacement for my dentures? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
We don't have NHS per se in The United States. We have Medicare and Medicaid. What I am wondering is this. There in England do the dentists explain the difference in NHS payed teeth and Private paid teeth ,and Do they ever say to the patient " look this is what Your getting with NHS teeth and this is what is available with private paid teeth" . So, being armed with this information ,is it possible to maybe pay the difference and get the better teeth while the government does at least pick up part of the cost?
we do, but NHS dentist only work towards the UK government funding and unfortunately a lot of cutting edge materials and equipment is not available due to limited budget. Dentists do show to patients the difference and compare, but if they work in full private practices there is no need. only if they work in mixed practices. With private dentistry dentists will spend more time focusing on the detail of every course of treatment provided instead of worrying about the funding, a lot of the tools used in private dentistry to improve treatment is not available under NHS due to budget.
I just want to be able to smile again. I don't leave the house anymore and I've been very close to just ending it all. I'm 51 and my life is over. That may sound stupid, but it's not to me. I have top dentures and now I need the rest of what I've got left, out after losing my two front bottom teeth. I don't think I can bear both dentures in my mouth. I'm just done.
> Samsara -Summer Moon come home Come on now Samsara, you can do it! The good news is after you get the bottom denture in, you'll be home free and never have to go to the dentist again! Your tooth problem will be solved and you can move forward in your life and focus on something that you enjoy! Since you already have gotten used to your top dentures, you are quite capable of getting used to the bottom ones in conjunction with the top ones. I want to share something with you that works for me with the hope it will help you - all you have to do is change your mindset. Instead of telling yourself "I don't think I can bear both dentures in my mouth," change that sentence a little bit by instead telling yourself, "I know I will adjust to wearing both dentures in my mouth." Tell yourself multiple times each day, "I WILL be able to wear both dentures." "I WILL adjust to wearing both dentures." Everytime I have told myself "I CAN do it!" when I've had to overcome an obstacle in my life, I did indeed succeed. Use the power of positive thinking by telling yourself over & over that you CAN do it, and you will. If you tell yourself you can't do something, you won't succeed because you have set yourself up for failure by convincing yourself you will fail. When you tell yourself you will be able to do something, you will do it because you've set yourself up to prevail. Ten years ago when my husband died, I was left alone and had to learn to do everything myself at age 61. It's been a long road and I was overwhelmed at times - but what helped me the most was telling myself I COULD do whatever it was I had to do - and everytime I told myself that, I did indeed accomplish what I had to at the time. And one more thing, Samsara - you're only 51 - you're a youngster - cause I have to get my bottom teeth done too and I'm 71 years old. But you've got a lot more going for you because you are able to get your bottom teeth, so please be grateful for that because I don't have the money to get my teeth - I can't get them till I figure out a way to pay for them. And I will figure it out because why? Because I'm a "I can do it!" kinda gal! Just like you are going to become. You are not done, you're only 51 - I don't think I'm done and I'm 71! So cheer up, Samsara - YOU CAN DO IT!!

Thank you for this. I’m so mad. They wouldn’t take a picture or even look at a picture of what my teeth looked like before making mine and also forced my bite into a position that was not my natural position. So I have a lisp, I can’t eat because the teeth don’t come together the way they should, the bite is off. I went through 6 surgeries to remove and grind down bone. But now I don’t have enough bone to keep them in , they just pop right off and that’s with strong adhesive. I had an Anaphylactic reaction to one adhesive. I went through so much pain, I’m allergic to Epinephrine so while they were digging out my roots ( my teeth had just started sliding off my gums, I had great teeth but I have Vascular Ehlers Danlos Syndrome among a lot of other health issues) so I felt most of that pain during each ( 6 ) of those separate surgeries. I had to go to a teaching hospital for mine. They look nothing like my teeth I have lost a lot of bone density. I was never given anything ( temporary teeth to help retain bone and keep my jaw working right. I am so depressed and feel so ugly and would love to eat. All my hair is falling out due to nutrition problems but no one cares. Thank you again for this video.
I also Feel your pain, I too have had the same issues with nhs dentures, (I also have severe hair loss, and have wondered whether it’s connected to my teeth/nutrition) it truly is an absolute disgrace and so wrong how they can expect anyone to live with these non fitting non functioning monstrosities. No one should be expected to live with this and like this just because we are nhs patients and cannot afford a private denture. We should be afforded a working functioning prostheses just like other nhs prosthetics such as limbs
I have had my dentures for about 10 years, but even if I put on denture cream they don't fit properly, and they affect my speech big time, for some reasons I can't eat the whole meal without them getting loose and coming out,ic some people who don't even use denture cream and theirs fit ,can u advise please?
I would definitely advise you to try to get a reline I am in the same position only it's been 8 years for me I was so excited to go get a new set of dentures and it ended up going very bad they did not turn out good at all so now I'm trying to get new ones it's just been a horrible process prayers for you on your journey
thank you for uploading this. it is very informative. i am currently having a very bad time with my teeth after years and years of neglect. (not proud of myself!!) i know all of my remaining teeth will have to be removed and i have been looking at all sorts of different remedies including implants, but the price of those is way way out of my reach so the next best solution is dentures and after watching your upload i will definitely going down the 'private' route. (if i can find a dentist who will take me on!) as you say "you get what pay for". thanks again.
I’m in the process of having a private set of dentures it’s costing £1200. It takes 6 visits before they are ready so I really don’t mind waiting. My nhs set never fitted correctly after having all my teeth removed. I’ve been without teeth for 7 months can’t wait for my new ones.
tbh it's absolute bullshit, i have paid twice for private partial dentures and both sets lasted less than a year? costing me in excess of £700 previous to that i had a make do NHS denture costing £200 that lasted over 2 years???
If the first set lasted less than a year, could you not have complained and had them fix/replace? Don't they have guarantees? I only ask because I'm currently having veneers that I'm paying for, and my dentist is fixing things, changing things, and providing an ongoing guarantee with the work/materials. I have NHS for other routine things though. But for the private stuff, I'm be furious if things didn't last long.
Darlings, if a nurse forgotten your impression in disinfectant, your denture never going to fit nice or fit at all.... And your technician will be just as clueless as your dentist and the nurse, lol. They all will be blaming each other and the nurse will never confess.... she hasn't got a clue that has done something wrong... This is only 1 of hundreds of possible errors, mishaps and discrepancies in the process.. Go to someone who does dentures himself , as Clinical Dental Technician, or Denturust .. preferably an intelligent one and talented ( extremely rare). But if they have other technicians working for them- then you no better off than going to a clueless dentist... best of luck...
Why should dentures be different to anything else in life? Healthcare is about functionality, the NHS pays for satisfactory solutions to medical/dental problems. No matter the treatment, there will always be a gold-plated version that costs extra. Dental cosmetics are the same.
😈4 Month wait for cheap upper and lower partials start to finish!? WTF? I can build a house in 30 days! God created the universe in 7 days! Mine must be made in China! So Cal desert dentist joke!🏴☠

But abroad dentists can make these up at less that a quarter what dentists here in uk charge ... which is so wrong How come british dentists are charging so much ...imo its litarally totally taking the piss
What?! Ok. I wonder if you say that when you have an accident and the ambulance just picks you up without question or a bill, or your GP refers you straight to the clinic the same day if they suspect cancer, for example? I wouldn't be alive without the NHS and I'm sick of our right wing government underfunding for years to try and sell it off, so we can all suffer on insurance like the US. Ugh.
Why is it a sham? I'd have thought it was the exact opposite to a sham - better materials and more labour time = higher cost. That's about as transparent as it gets.

I’m in the USA and my mother has had the same denture for over 40 years because it was made the very best.
everyone wants government funded healthcare...this is what you get when things are state funded. Garbage.
Every denture I had Brock or crack I get on NHS but still have to pay there no refund or replacement you have to keep paying they last no more then 2 years if your lucky
Nhs ones are just as good mine look perfect just keep them clean
My cheap denture broke and cost $175 to fix so I could eat and then broke in same spot 2 days later and it's a money scheme, I made my own with acrylic and put brass mesh in the middle for extra strength and 5 years later my denture I made works great and cost $ $30 to make,,,,,,dentures are a big money scam,,they cost nothing to make and easy to make but they charge $3000 for a denture that costs $20 in materials to make
sure wish you would make a video to show us all how you did it.
What is the cost of each type of denture?
Instead of telling yourself "I don't think I can bear both dentures in my mouth," change that sentence a little bit by instead telling yourself, "I know I will adjust to wearing both dentures in my mouth." Tell yourself multiple times each day, "I WILL be able to wear both dentures." "I WILL adjust to
wearing both dentures." Everytime I have told myself "I CAN do it!" when I've had to overcome an obstacle in my life, I did indeed succeed.
@@ofthedifference 🙂 Thankyou so much for your kind words and much needed encouragement. I promise I will follow your advice. I will make an appointment after the holidays and hopefully I will be done by summer. I still get anxiety when I think about it, but I am mentally preparing myself so I'm hoping, sorry 🤭 I WILL be ready, by the time I get my appointment. If I have a wobble, I will remember your lovely and uplifting message. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband, it must be difficult. I really, really hope that something works out for you. I need to remember that there's plenty others worse off than me, and be grateful for my own situation. So thankyou again, you've really made a difference, I mean that. Sending love your way and I hope you have a lovely Christmas...💗 🤶 💗🎅💗🧑🎄💗🎄💗☃️💗...and a fabulous New Year❣️💗🎉💗🍾💗🥂💗
Thank you for this.
Feel your pain.
I also Feel your pain, I too have had the same issues with nhs dentures, (I also have severe hair loss, and have wondered whether it’s connected to my teeth/nutrition)
it truly is an absolute disgrace and so wrong how they can expect anyone to live with these non fitting non functioning monstrosities.
@@JamiesLife thank you very much for your advice,God bless🙏🙏🙏
Go to a denturist or denture specialist
thank you for uploading this. it is very informative.
i am currently having a very bad time with my teeth after years and years of neglect. (not proud of myself!!)
i know all of my remaining teeth will have to be removed and i have been looking at all sorts of different remedies including implants, but the price of those is way way out of my reach so the next best solution is dentures and after watching your upload i will definitely going down the 'private' route. (if i can find a dentist who will take me on!)
as you say "you get what pay for".
thanks again.
How did u get on about getting new dentures Don
I would love to know how you got on too if you went down the private denture route
Just had a nhs partial denture now feeling inadequate 🤦🏼♀️
If you made a mess like that in my lab!
Podrian traducir en español.me interesa y no entendi nada .Todos no sabemos hablar en Ingles!!
I paid over £1,000 for my dentures and they are more like NHS teeth, I think I was DONE!!
I’m in the process of having a private set of dentures it’s costing £1200. It takes 6 visits before they are ready so I really don’t mind waiting. My nhs set never fitted correctly after having all my teeth removed. I’ve been without teeth for 7 months can’t wait for my new ones.
I'm getting my temporary teeth tomorrow and my permanent in March next year. It's 14 appointments and cost me £4,783
@@thomas52211 Jesus
@@thomas52211 for dentures?
tbh it's absolute bullshit, i have paid twice for private partial dentures and both sets lasted less than a year? costing me in excess of £700 previous to that i had a make do NHS denture costing £200 that lasted over 2 years???
If the first set lasted less than a year, could you not have complained and had them fix/replace? Don't they have guarantees? I only ask because I'm currently having veneers that I'm paying for, and my dentist is fixing things, changing things, and providing an ongoing guarantee with the work/materials. I have NHS for other routine things though. But for the private stuff, I'm be furious if things didn't last long.
What if you got a over bite
Maybe the " Austin Powers", budget ones are built to last ?😟
I've got huge bottom dentures, they hurt, they're loose, and my bite is off
Great,
Mine will be made out of polymer clay from the craft store. LOL
ONE PAIR FOR THE RICH ----- THE POOR CAN BARE THE PAIN ---- AS USUAL.
the system is really ok, but nobody cleans up in this laboratory, in our laboratory such a mess would not be tolerated
Every denture I get doesn't last more then a year or 2.. they crack and brake and you have to keep paying
I emailed and messaged several times to change my address with no reply. Please just cancel my order.
Nice
So it wasn't the dentist it was the lab that screwed up on my very loose fitting dentures
Se gasta de maciado materiales en materiales en en modelo . el.rodete es muy grande
Paid £990 for 2 pte dentures which are worse than £280 NHS dentures
Pay the extra...what if you can't afford it
My NHS partial didn’t take into account that I am a woman of colour. So my only choice is to get private.
Are you serious?! What year are we in? That should never happen How ridiculous!
@@hopefully2224 it’s annoying that’s how they roll in the UK. Even my dentist understood my frustrations.
So the wealthy people get the best looking dentures and the poor get the crappy looking dentures. Great job making dentures though.
Why do you think someone else should pay for you?
Why should dentures be different to anything else in life? Healthcare is about functionality, the NHS pays for satisfactory solutions to medical/dental problems. No matter the treatment, there will always be a gold-plated version that costs extra. Dental cosmetics are the same.
😈4 Month wait for cheap upper and lower partials start to finish!? WTF? I can build a house in 30 days! God created the universe in 7 days! Mine must be made in China! So Cal desert dentist joke!🏴☠
Still doesnt explain why they are so expensive !!! In uk the dentists are disgustingly expensive ..... But abroad dentists can make these up at less that a quarter what dentists here in uk charge ... which is so wrong
How come british dentists are charging so much ...imo its litarally totally taking the piss
and this is why i dont support the NHS
What?! Ugh.
@@catsandcrafts171 i spent 3 years on a NHS waiting list and nearly killed myself because of it, so fuck the NHS
Like we need to listen to rock music garbage to watch this? NOT!! 🤬🤬
This video is terrible! Comparing the more expensive ones to the not as much as the more expensive ones!😮
Oh brother!
Disgusting video showing what a sham private dentistry is.
Why is it a sham? I'd have thought it was the exact opposite to a sham - better materials and more labour time = higher cost. That's about as transparent as it gets.
Looks like a sawmill in there, you have no shame and this should sabotage your career. 👎👎
