🥺 Dr. Ian I feel like I wish you were my dentist when I was very young because you have such a calming voice and demeanor about you and I feel I wouldn't lose it everytime I even think of going to the dentist because of past child hood experiences. Is it a good practice for a dentist to grind on your good natural teeth to make your denture fit?
I know it's embarrassing and I hope you're able to get dentures. I know how bad teeth can ruin a person's self-esteem and it makes me sad to see people afraid to laugh and smile. Hang in there.

The new newly made prosthesis must fit immediately without any corrections or upgrades. Your denture should not be thicker than 2 millimeters. Its thickness does not affect the fracture moment. This material makes sense for immediate dentures or those slightly older.

Thank you so much for this video. I just had all my teeth surgically removed and my “immediate dentures” didn’t fit at all. This explains why! If I would have had a dentist remove my teeth, they probably would had relined me as soon as my extractions were done.

When I had to have my teeth extracted I was devastated. I didn't eve. Know anyone who had false teeth . Within a month I had a set of dentures that are so painful that I have to stop wearing them for a couple of days to heal my mouth. Had them adjusted with no solution. My gums have receded and I have a bite that is ,lopsided HELP!
From everything I’ve heard from denture wearers, having a temporary denture that’s applied over just extracted teeth, is commonly a cause for repeated relining. I had 17 teeth extracted at one time, but chose not to get immediate dentures, but I was able to stay at home long enough to let my mouth heal fully first. The many long, sharp bone pieces that often come up through the gums after extractions, I pulled out at home with sterile jewelers pliers, (9 in all), rather than go back to the endiodontist I went to that gave me a written quote, which I paid for in full at the time of service. He later began billing me for more than 12g for the same services I’d already had done & paid for.

I made the mistake of enlisting Western Dental to extract my teeth, and to fit me with dentures. I had all 21 teeth extracted, in December of 2022, and, because of their nightmarish incompetence, I didn't receive my dentures until yesterday ( 9/19/2023 ). Initially, and 3 weeks after the extractions, they gave me an upper denture that was so poorly fit, that it was completely unusable, and they didn't have a lower denture for me. They actually sent me home without a lower denture, and with an upper that didn't fit, regardless of how much adhesive I used. After many attempts to reach the office, over a 5 week period, I was finally able to get an appointment. At this time, they gave me a lower that was as ill-fitting as the upper. So, they scheduled me for another appointment, 4 a month and 2 weeks away. Their excuse was that the doctor is rotational, and wasn't available until then. When time came from my appointment, they resorted to digitally scanning my mouth, instead of using the idiot that did the initial impressions. After that, I waited until yesterday to receive the dentures. That's 10 months without teeth and without dentures. Needless to say my diet consisted of soft foods, only. The upper denture that I have now, it's not much better than the first. The lower denture fits well. I believe that the so called office manager, who lied to me several times, was the biggest reason for the outrageous amount of time that I went without dentures. The drama involving her, is too involved to go into here. Suffice it to say that if I have anything to do with it, WD will terminate her. WD issued me a worthless apology, but not even a small refund. I would advise that anyone considering having work done at WD, to look elsewhere. They are a joke.
Using denture adhesive is not used until your gums have healed. So you will be eating foods out of a blender or food processor up to 3 weeks.

Hi Dr. I used Pro Soft that I got off of Amazon. It worked well, but has thinned and I need to do it over again. Do you know what is in that remover? Do I have to get it specifically or can you tell me if it might be made of alcohol or something? Hopefully something I may already have on hand?

Removal of ProSoft Denture Reline Kit from Denture
Run hot tap water over the edges of the liner to loosen the bond.
Gently pull back liner by utilizing tweezers and pulling back slowly.
Repeat the process using hot water and tweezers until all of the reliner is removed.
Easy as that. No silicane remover required.

I’m a denturist, I’m very shocked by those kits. Acrylic we use needs pressure pot or flasks to cure. Take very much care.

@@neightneight1280 this material is tops. They probably have 5+ relines in them. I don’t know if you can buy this stuff easily. If you really need help, talk to a local dental lab that specializes in dentures. Good luck and be careful. If you mess it up, you can put your jaw out and many problems will ensue.
Relines are only good for uppers. My lowers are a nightmare. All on 4 is just a dream - very depressing.
Just get your credit up to a 640 and go finance dental implants.

Thank you for this video. I now realize that I had a bad experience from my previous dentist and didn't know it but suspected something went wrong at the time. I went in for a reline of my upper. When I went back to have it fitted the liner was missing and the "new" denture didn't fit right. And it never did. I was charged $500.00 for this "reline". The new denture didn't have a liner at all. I asked why and was told that the new one didn't have it. I asked why was it called a reline when there is no liner. She said that is just what they do. Well, the new denture never did fit right. It eventually cracked and was repaired and then it cracked again and was repaired again. It then broke in to two pieces. I then decided to not go back and seek other care. I feel like I was cheated. What do you think. Thanks.
Hi Edwin, It's not normal where I am to reline an upper denture with a soft material, usually it's done with the same hard material that the denture is made from. You won't see a difference unless you compare before and after pics. If the denture doesn't fit right, go back and tell them. I tell everyone, go back to the people that you paid to do the work, and tell them it's not right. Mistakes happen, I make them too, but it's important to deal with them properly. As far as your denture cracking and then breaking, if that is happening in your mouth then it doesn't fit, when you're squeezing on it to chew it will break. I don't know you, know nothing about your history, but I hope this helps a bit.
First time denture doesn't need reliners.. Liners are required when your bone get resorbed with age.. And if fitting is not good.

Is it possible to horseshoe a bottom denture I take Suboxone and I don't want to take my bottom denture out every time I have to take my medicine because it's the medicine goes underneath your tongue. if I try to take the medicine with my bottom denture in it just gets all over the bottom denture because I can't lay my tongue down properly

@@shellywms70 And Kevin too, I hope you see this. There are two possible answers here, and as some random person on the internet I have no way of knowing which is right for either of you. It's possible your lower dentures are not the right shape for what you need, so that your tongue can't sit as flat as it needs to, or it might be that this medication will get all over any lower denture, no matter what shape it is.

No, please do not use a denture brush because that can cause microabrasions. To maintain Sofreliner, all you need is a little soap and water and a soft towel.

You guys and gals in the US are lucky that you have a lining in them, here in the UK you don't. You get them from hard as Had solid plastic, use some foul tasting glue that doesn't keep them stuck to your mouth and liquids always wind up going under neath and eating with them in is near impossible with the way they flap around in your mouth. Mine lasted 2 days before I binned them, + I'm still waiting for the 10 - 20 left over pieces of bone splinters to work them selves out. (The one in the front is p*ss*ng me off no end) Had the last 6 at the bottom removed at the same time under the NHS and being in the waiting list for 2 years with multiple infections and a F*ck*ng locking jaw.

Can you recommend any one to do a reline in southern ohio? Every dentist I've encountered only wants to sell implants. I have a lower from 3 years ago that are the same as they were after extractions because no one wants to do the reline, I take that back, one dentist said he would do the reline of the lower for $670. Seemed high to me.

Do you have dental insurance? That price seems incredibly high, my reline was less that 250 for top and 250 for bottom. I ended up getting a supplemental dental insurance and it cost .e around 120 per set for the reline in the end. It is now April and I go in September for my dentures to go from temporary to permanent.

Had three sets of dentures, cannot keep them in my mouth, no more than 4 hours, then my gag reflex takes over. Cannot eat with them, they come lose, and it is hard chew so disappointed in them. My first set was so large that I could not shut my mouth. The second was one that the dentist made for just a year, the second sets are suppose to be good for eight years. AlsoI did not go back to the original dentist. Even though he could see how big they were, he was the one that pulled all my teeth. Took me three months to get my first set.
I had a friend tell me his gag reflex was very bad so he had the back two teeth on each side removed from his upper denture which made the denture smaller over all of it fit perfect for him
@@theperkinsbrothers I’m the same way. I found my retainers I wore when I got my braces off, which I wore my braces from late 30 to mid 40. I am going to take them to the dentist that made this pair and tell look I have a small mouth, fix them to fit my mouth. We went out to eat tonight first bite the uppers and bottoms flew out my mouth. So embarrassing!
They were too big when I got them, and I have lost weight in the last 4 years, (not even trying) and they are now really lose!

I got 24 teeth taken out and full dentures at age 34 and I feel like I got ripped off I had a full row of bottom teeth they were not in good shape but I feel like the dentist could have saved them for the sake of my bottom dentures fitting because he's a dentist so he probably deals with this on daily basis of people telling him there bottom dentures don't fit , so I just feel like he could have saved at least two of my bottom teeth for anchors for a parcel cuz now if I want them to fit right and not fall out I have to pay another $3,800 to get a new bottom denture and two screws and I only paid $2,800 to get 24 extractions and immediate dentures and some of the extractions had to be dug out at least six or seven so I don't understand how that price is right . And honestly I don't know if I want to deal with him anymore because I feel like you could have saved me a huge headache and money I just trying to save two of my teeth for the bottom . I wish I would have thought a little longer about what I was doing I was just so excited and nervous to get all my teeth pulled while awake! Because I couldn't afford the gas it's really bullshit when you think about it like come on he's a dentist he could have saved two teeth! So now I feel like he's just trying to rip me off
