- Find out how dentures are made.
This video is a brief overview of some of the laboratory steps to demonstrate how dentures are made. This video is not a tutorial on how to make your own dentures at home. This video is not meant to show all steps involved in the process of making dentures.
Fascinating!! I was sitting here curiously looking at my brand new (uninstalled) upper, thinking, I really want to make teeth, help people be able to eat again! I'm looking for schooling tomorrow, & I'm starting @ 38yrs old. Thank you!!
Hey there, Brian! Same here. I'm wanting to help people too with making dentures. Seems like a lot of people have had bad experiences with not getting them right. Did you end up going to school?
How’d you go with it? I just started at 17
That’s awesome. I’m 34 years old and about to get alll lol my teeth pulled and hope they can get my teeth to look like my teeth. I’m so scared.
Wish you all the best!
@@sofiajohnson197 how did it go for you?
I grew up constantly in a dental lab my grandpa owned and my dad worked at. This brought back so many memories watching them work, and the one thing I remember was them saying you don't want perfectly straight and perfectly white teeth, because those look too fake. Thanks for making this!
I had no idea how much work was involved in making dentures. You achieved amazing results! Those are the most realistic and beautiful dentures I have ever seen. Good Job! I am looking at getting dentures in the near future. I can only hope that the person who makes mine has the some ability as you do. Thank you for sharing this!
Paul Duke yes it is an Amazing process. One must have Patience and skill , at our Lab we do this kind of work & then some 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
wow , such a art and science mixed,, as a denture wearer i never new it was so much work untill now. Great video
Thank you so much for this. I'm in the beginning process of getting dentures and you have answered many questions I have. Excellent videos.
I just had a top plate made a few weeks ago. Although they briefly described how the dentures were made, this really brings the process to life. Thanks so much for sharing this video.
Great and really interesting video. I"m a nurse and have handled literally thousands of sets of teeth, but didn't know how they are made. Very cool!
Thank you a very discriptive and informative video. I have always been interested in the craft of making dentures and working in a dental lab, it seems like a very interesting job!
Thank you so much for sharing how dentures are made. I get my new smile in about 5 weeks and this video has answered a lot of questions.
Thank you for taking the time to explain this process.
I appreciate you making this video. I'm getting my first denture around December. I am 43 and have had 15 teeth pulled over the years. 4 within the last mn. I am very excited.
If only i werent scared of the dental care itself😢
Thank U for making such a good quality video on the whole denture process. I graduated dental laboratory technician school about four years ago and looking to go back into the field this is a very good refresher.
this is the best denture making video i have ever seen...
you did an awesome job showing and explaining in a language everybody can understand...
Great video Mr. Parisien. I'm working on my RDH and we are working on materials at this time. It is good to see the process done because it makes the book come alive. I'm not planning on doing dentures, my job would involve cleaning and educating patient among other things.
That's very interesting. My partial denture has metal tabs that extend from each tooth into the acrylic substrate and there are acrylic "hooks" that wrap around my rear molars to help hold it in place.
Awesome, job! Thank you, for sharing your wisdom and knowledge with us. I'm getting the rest of my teeth pulled out today and then the impressions and then my new set of dentures. This will be my frist time.
Thank you…I’m facing the entire process of getting dentures any day now and found your video extremely helpful. It’s unnerving to not know anything!
I wish I lived in your area and you could be my doctor!!!!!! lol. Thanks for the videos....excellent job!
Right me too :(
Me too!
I've been through most of my appointments with my denturist and will be getting my new teeth in two weeks!! To say I am excited is an understatement lol! My extractions were VERY traumatic but I think it will be worth it all in the end!
I have about 6 more weeks until I'll have mine. Can't wait. It's been a rough ride.
Thank you for the video. That helps me a lot. I understand this process being in manufacturing all my adult life. I am trying to learn as much as I can because I have lost a lot of the back teeth and need a parcel are implants soon. Money and cost is my biggest problem. I am sure you hear that pretty often. Thanks again for the video, that helps. Good work and good job.
James in Texas
looks nice. I used to be a denture finisher years ago..one of my favorite jobs.
I have found this very informative thanks for this video.
I just did a test fit and bite check with the wax gums and actual teeth. Now I'm waiting for the dental office to call so I can go in for the real denture test fit. I'm so excited!! I've been without teeth for 10 years and I'm only 50 years old. A strange reaction with medication made my enamel weak and all my teeth started chipping away. I finally had them all pulled. The tops went first and it was under a local, so it hurt like hell. The bottoms were pulled 2 months later and I felt nothing under the local. Same place, same dentist. Go figure. Anyway, my journey to dentures is almost complete! Thanks to all the dental technicians and such that make this possible!
This is one of the best things to do... give a beautiful smiles for people who had lost early their theeth.
Me😑😕
That's why I chose this field of work, too. To see people's lives restored to some normalcy...having their smiles and ability to eat better!! I love dental technology!!♡
Yeah man. I lost mines from a bad car accident. I used to go to the dentist every 3 to 6 months. All that money spent for nothing cause I lost them when I hit the pavement face first. I still remember waking up next to my teeth. Well pieces of it. I had the perfect Colgate smile and now it's all gone.
Good work. I did it 40 years ago and the process really hasn't changed much.
My dad was a Dental Tech. Legondary in the Los Angeles and Orange County area. He was know to make a full upper or lower faster than anyone in the world; while still getting a quality fit with little need for adjustments. He died in 1995, but I've mentioned I was his son to some dentists and techs over the last dozen years and they all know who he was like he was a celebrity. Hahaha! Dental appliance celeb! Good vid! Brings back memories. I can still make a decent appliance myself without any formal training. In the blood... I'm like Michael Jordan's son of Dental Tech skills. Lololol
Can u help me i need to ask some questions about the major in the us please answer, ig or anything
That looks incredible! I really enjoyed watching the process it was technical and intriguing to say the least. I am actually looking into a Dental Technology program nearby where i live so this was defiantly educational.
Thanks bro. I'm in the process to make my own dentures and so far so good. I'm planning in helping others as well. Especially those who can't afford to pay for dentures.
That is a great thing your doing. I’m trying to help my son who has had terrible teeth since he was very small. He never smiles and is very touchy about it. If he can get his teeth all pulled I can help him get the dentures. Hopefully someday.
So let's see how they came out
I'm going through that now. I have sickle cell disease and I need upper dentures & a partial for the bottom but I have to figure out how to afford it. The constant infections keep my sickle cell flared up which is pain so I need to do something fast.
Very well done. Clear explanation. 5 stars.
Always wondered and you have solved my curiosity.... That is so amazing to me and you explained every step perfectly.... Thank you for sharing.....
I've recently quit my dental nursing job and I've always wanders how they made them! Thank you!
I can see why it didn’t work out. Wander 😂 where did you wander to? You mean you WONDERED how they were made 😂😂😂
You don't have any idea how much I love your video, thank you so much, learned a great deal; just need to know where to buy tools & materials.
What an utterly fascinating video! I had no idea about all the steps that are involved with making dentures. I'm getting upper and lower partial dentures soon - I'm missing 2 molars on the top on each side and 1 on the bottom. Also a few teeth at the front on the bottom. I'm looking forward to being able to chew properly again. Now that I've watched this video, I'll appreciate my new dentures even more. 😀 🦷
Absolutely Love the finished Product!! Great video quality also.
Very cool! thanks for the video. i actually have a temporary top denture which was done in one visit. my permanent ones will take 4 visits. now i understand a little Better as to why. Thanks again. very cool!
Thank you very much for the insightful video. If you have the time, I do have a couple of questions, which may or may not have been answered in previous comment posts.
1.) This video shows a denture created using mouth models with no teeth whatsoever. What is the process when using models with teeth remaining? Once the bite registration is completed, are those remaining teeth sanded down to nothing/the gum line?
2.) While I have been told immediate dentures are not the best route to permanent dentures, is the repetitive aligning process for the immediate dentures really that much of a hassle for the patient?
Again, great video, and thank you very much for your continued help and insight.
Fascinating video - thank you for taking the time and trouble to produce it.
I didn't realise that there were so many processes involved. Amazing. Recently watched a video showing how to make dentures at home. Not surprised the comments were turned off. Very interesting, thankyou.🙂💜
I love this! I've watched it about 10 times now. I want to make some dentures!!
Very informative. I love the concept of imperfect is actually quite unique and makes it more esthetic. Love being a Dentard.
Barry, Thank you for your quick reply and thoughts on this mater. You make some good points to consider. I'll need to weigh the pro's and con's of my treatment options and go from there. Modern dentures sound like they work quite well if they are fitted properly by a qualified practitioner, so that's one less concern? I think...
Like I had mentioned, dentures can be made successfully for most people. That being said... dentures are a prosthetic replacement. They are no different than someone who's lost a arm or a leg. Can you still function with a prosthetic arm or leg? Yes. However, you wouldn't imagine that a prosthetic arm will afford you all of the same abilities or range of motion as your real arm, would you? The same goes for dentures.
You nailed it when you mentioned "qualified practitioner". Over the years I have seen many good and many bad dentures. Dentures are like everything in life... you typically get what you pay for. I often have people calling looking for the "cheapest dentures". The terms "cheap" and "healthcare" are typically terms you don't want to mix together. I'll often tell people "There are two things in life you don't want to get a deal on: Healthcare and parachutes." For a lot of people, however, it's tempting to go with a low cost option. Keep this in mind though: The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Best of luck to you.
Beautiful work I personally would like it a bit brighter but great video nice to know how mine were made!
I'm getting new dentures in 8 weeks, and this explains so much
Thank you for this video. Just had 13 teeth pulled, and given temps. I was wondering how they were made. Thank you
Soo finally people got to know how much dental technicians work hard to make a beautiful smile for the patients
Thank you, I appreciate your demonstration.
Thanks for sharing , always wondered how they were made?
Thank you for making this! This is very informative!
Nice video ! I always wondered why a partial denture, and especially the lower, is made to fit around the teeth instead of making a full denture to fit over them, it would look better and be held better into place by the existing teeth.
I'm 27, with all of my teeth, and not in dental school or anything. Why did I watch this? Why did I find it so interesting? lol. This was really cool to watch! Thanks for taking the time to record and share this.
Very informative. Thank you. Well done!!
I've had two upper plates that looked really natural. When people found out I was wearing a denture, they couldn't believe it. This last one does not. I really enjoyed this video. It sure answered a lot of my questions. I'm getting new full upper and lower plates made this month. I am hoping they will fit well and look more natural. I've had uppers for over 40 some years. If the person making them are as good as you, I know I will be a lot happier. I have a question. Is it normal to end up biting the inside of the mouth for awhile, after getting new dentures. I've, actually, had such pain from this, I have cried. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. Was very informative.
This is so cool. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. :)
Thank you so very much for this video and calming my fears about getting dentures. I will be getting mine in about 6 weeks. Great job 👍
Omg I love your work! Your teeth is the way I wish mine were! I don’t like that straight smile, I wanted mine to look more real! You do amazing job! Great work! ! Good looking teeth
Awesome informative video, thank you for making it
Waaaaw the waxing looks amazing , I hope one day I will learn to be as good
Dental student here. Thank you for the thorough explanation of the whole process.
This has been so helpful!

You beautifully articulated it!
Beautiful! You are more than a technician you're an artist. :) Thank you for sharing. How did your competition turnout?
Great video, thanks for posting!
You're the best, doc!
Hi Barry, I just came across your video on how dentures are made. My question relates to how does the lab determine what tooth shape, size or length of each tooth, and how many teeth are actually used in a denture plate (12 or 14)?
I ask because I fully expected to receive denture plates that looked similar in shape, size/length, and number as I had prior to all my teeth being removed.
The initial lab gave me ginormous front teeth with comparable large top plate that actually changed the look of my upper lip.
Then after significant healing and more than 6 impression appointments, spanning over a year, for the creation of my permanent upper and lower dentures, the second laboratory did the extreme opposite.
Now my teeth are too short, showing nothing but pink gums when I smile (not happy). Something that never showed even when I had my own healthy teeth.
When I questioned the dentist about the extreme change I was told that showing what would look to others as alot of pink gums, represents healthy teeth without receding gum lines or periodontal disease.
I wish that important detail was explained to me better. People say "ask more questions".
Well, I don't make dentures in my day job, so how would I know the exact questions to ask in the hopes of avoiding problems with my dentures.
Most General Dentists can and do provide this service in their practice. It's the dentists' responsibility to educate their patients on the entire process of getting dentures. That may consist of verbal instructions, an informational handout, or preferably both.
Dentures are not cheap, especially when you consider that getting dentures is usually the last resort.
Thank you, I look forward to your response.
Thank you for making this video. I just had 6 teeth out and a denture put in today so this was very interesting to see how my new smile was made :)
Learned a lot , thank you 🌸
Thank you. This is great.Helped me with my studies.
nice, both students and patients can benefit from this video
Wow, you even put in the rugae. Very nice gum work. Wish you would've done my work. What would you use if you had a patient who couldn't use acrylic?
Excellent video. thankyou for sharing your knowledge
Thank you so much for sharing, Dr. Parisien! This was very educational, sir:
Have a good one, sir :)
Robert
Thank you for making this amazing video. I am a student studying Dentistry in college in a foreign country, and now I have a basic outline of what we are going to do for this semester.
perfecta articulacion dientes alineados a la perfeccion centro con centro coinciden te doy un 10 felicidades
I appreciate the lab work a lot more after watching... TFS. Xoxo
Thank you for this demonstration.
thank you .. its so helpful 😍
This was great to see. At long last I've started the process, had my remaining three upper teeth pulled (2 incisors and one canine). Now comes the long wait of healing time with zero teeth up top, I do have all but my molars on the bottom. It's great to know what the final step will be. The now part with no upper teeth is alarming in a way but I'm adjusting very well. It's been so long since my teeth looked good and I could eat properly, I can’t wait for this final step. I'll ask about not having the whitest teeth possible, mine never were anyway🤪
it looks so perfect..look so natural
Hi Barry, thanks for the video. I've had two partials, upper and lower, twice, by two different dentists in two different cities. Both times the teeth barely protrude from the plastic gums on the back side. On the front they're great, but on the back side they're like some flat instrument. The gum intersects the backside of the teeth at almost a 90 degree angle just up (or down) from the biting edge of the tooth. I can't bite off a piece of bread...I smush it off like a pair of pliers. I notice yours in the video are more natural with actual teeth protruding from the gums on the inside. Why did my guys not do it your way?
On another note...I took cipro and leviquin which, I believe, killed my teeth. I had as many as five just snap off at the gum line in the course of three or four weeks. I only have 6 left and they won't last long.
Going through the same thing right now, I'm so unhappy and depressed since they took all my top teeth out , I can't eat nothing and it's miserable. I have been toothless for two weeks now and it's starting to feel hopeless , today I go get my first impressions, pray for me please , whoever is reading this , if your not in constant pain then don't do it , I regret it so so much
Hi Barry, love your videos! I was curious though, what is the purpose of a laboratory remount after a processed denture? Thanks!
I truly enjoyed watching you make a set of dentures and I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule (I'm sure) in making this tutorial. I have an I portal question and hope you'll be able to answer me. I had a set of denture implants made on the bottom, and regular dentures make for the top because I ran out of money. The teeth are too small and do not have my natural arch and fullness to them makes me look different. So would they be able to fix those teeth and arch out without having to make a new set.
so in 3 days im being fitted for my immpressions for full top dentures and this was so exciting to watch my mouth was wide open in awah thank u!
Very good presentation. Thanks.
Hi Dr. Parisien, where is your clinic located. I would love to have you make me a naturally looking denture such as this. Your denture is a work of art. So beautifully done.
omg , i loves this sir. tnx for show us, pls show us more video, you are explain so slowly and nicely.
Thank you.... its recall all the procedures .. I am in a dental profession...
i used to make dentures in uk back in 1969 and was curious to see how they were made nowdays and its pretty much the same very interesting vid
wow, what a great video, thank you for the clarity of making these, I always wondered why it took so long to receive them
You technique of setting teeth is very good and time saver, opposite to mine.
********** Thank you for a great video, you guys are True artists in your trade. I just received my first Dentures, and they look like my Natural teeth in my younger years !! *********
I'm currently considering dental technology as a diploma, and I'd love to do something like this someday. I think once you have the skills, this kind of work would be quite enjoyable...
Did you get into a Dental School
You do great work. I wish you were in the States my dentures are horrible brand new in May he made them so big that I have to go have a hard reline on a brand new denture top plate that was made way too big and the wrong shade of teeth too. I didn’t want bright white so I picked the next one but he ordered a shade three shade darker than I wanted and isn’t very well at hearing about his mistakes. Medication and chronic dry mouth is what caused me to have to do this because I couldn’t afford to have them all capped from all of them having hairline fracture in them from me clinching for 30+ years then add on dry mouth from medication and it’s a hard situation to get ahold of. No amount of water helps.
I would have liked to see more detail of each process. Like the application technique for the wax and encasement of the wax.
I get my new teeth in 2 weeks and wow there is so much that goes into making them I can’t wait for mine now hope they look as good as these
Excellent analytical skills!
