As the saying goes 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away', start your day with healthy apple and oats smoothie.

Servings - 1
Total calorie count - 343 calories
Apple - 95 cal
Dates - 80 to 85 cal
Milk - 125 cal
Oats - 38 cal

Queen of Spices - Episode 2
Ingredients:
1. Apple - 1 (I used medium sized apple)
2. Oats - 2 tbsp (rolled oats - I used Trader joe's organic oven toasted old fashioned oats)
3. Milk - 1 and 1/4 cup (warm milk preferably - I used organic lactose free low fat milk)
4. Dates - 4 (I used California pitted dates)
5. Ground cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
6. Crushed ice
Procedure:
1. Soak dates, chopped apple and oats in warm milk for at 20 mins. If you are using a high speed blender like vitamix, skip this step.
2. Separate the soaked ingredients from milk and blend them into a fine paste.
3. Add milk, ground cinnamon and crushed ice and blend again.
4. Pour it in a glass and sprinkle ground cinnamon on the top if
desired.
Notes:
1. Soaking oats prior to blending gives smoother texture to the smoothie. Soaking increases the digestibility of oats and they will be better absorbed by the body.
2. Increase or decrease the amount of oats according to your preference.

@@meghajain9928 - I use oven toasted oats. You can just toast them in a pan for 2-3 min on a low flame. Brown mat karo, it spoils the taste.

I tried it it but without dates. I added honey and yogurt milk instead. It really tastes good. But for people who doesn't want cinnamon just add a little. Trying can't be that bad. Certainly worth the try.

I feel instead of waiting for 20 minutes.we can boil it for 10 minutes and grind it immediately. Cooked oats is better to digest than raw socked one. Thanks for sharing the recipe.. loved it..!!
Rolled oats can be eaten after soaking.you need cooking for steel cut oats and instant oats.
I have read not to use steel oats but use rolled oats or quick oats. Those can easily be soaked.

A very healthy smoothie but not perfect for those who want to lose weight as dates are high in calories. If you’re trying to lose weight use 1 or 2 dates instead.
You don't have to use dates at all
Today I had same breakfast, instead of dates we can add peanut butter or honey for better taste.

I add Flax seed and Chia seed as well.
I always have it but different type..I grind with oats apple and dates after that I add some banana pomegranate and my overnight soaked dry fruits chopped and it's awesome..but I use water to grind because I have pcod problem

Thank you. You can use white oats but instant oatmeal doesn't have much health benefits. You can just roast the rolled(old fashioned) oats and grind them into fine powder, store it and use it whenever you want. You can buy oat flour instead of white oats and use it as well.

I add 1 apple, 30g oats , milk and 2 teaspoon of honey, 1-2 teaspoon of peanut butter..may I consider it as for weight gain?..reply pls
Well, I'm not sure. Weight loss or gain depends on various factors like metabolism, genetics etc..Just calculate the calories to see if that's enough for you.
