Definitely one of their better known songs. I'll have to go with live music for my recommendation so I'll say "Want" from 40 Live Curaetion 25 + Anniversary.
Hi Neonske! The Cure Are one of my favourite bands ever. I bought their first album "Three Imaginary Boys" in 1979, and then went on to see them 3 times, each time at Wembley, in the 1980s. As you've no doubt discovered, they have many styles. For contrast, can I recommend "100 Years", the mood is much heavier and psychedelic! It truly rocks 😍
I agree with you for the "happy / sad" feeling , it was their 2nd era wich started in '83-'84 when they became more of a pop band ; but before that they were really dark !!! I mean , when you start a record with the lyrics "it doesn't matter if we all die" ("one 100 years" from Pornography ) you can't get darker than this - I hope you'll dig in their "dark trilogy" some day , lots of great songs like "play for today" , "a forest" , "charlotte sometimes" , "faith" , "the drowning man" , "primary" , "the hanging garden" , "siamese twins" , "the figurehead" and "cold" just to name a few
agreed. to fully understand the cure you MUST go back to the seedlings that even though dark at times made alot of us grow!! I say anything off of the albums "faith, or "seventeen seconds" is well worth the listen. even there first couple albums are so awesome, I think 79 was the first one but dont quote me on that. great reaction, love to see folks love the cure, did somebody say depeche mode.............?????
The Cure are one of the best live acting band in the world, their concert last 2h 30/ 3hours, after the soft approach of Pop side with Videosclis, you have to react to Live act, I highly suggest The song "The Kiss" Live trilogy Berlin 2002, it's heavy, beautiful and you can taste the genius Of Robert Smith musical gift !!!!
Robert Smith is without a doubt one of the greatest love songwriters of all time :) "Just Like Heaven" another UK classic anthem! Robert Smith considers "Just Like Heaven" as the best song he's ever written (and it's not even close) The intro to Just Like Heaven is the greatest 50 seconds of music ever recorded One of the most impeccable singles of the eighties, the track was the ultimate realization of The Cure’s pop acumen. At a rather short 3 minutes and 32 seconds (for the album version). 'Just Like Heaven', was the obvious hit of The Cure’s double-LP, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. (1987) The original demo was titled "Shivers." Although The Cure had been well established in the mainstream music industry UK, "Just Like Heaven" was the track that peaked them to a bigger worldwide audience. This track has also stood up to a wide variety of treatments in cover versions and TV theme instrumentals. A classical cultural traditional lyrical theme English patriotism journey! The lyrics were inspired by a trip with his then-girlfriend (and later wife) Mary Poole to Beachy Head in southern England.
Is this the same cliff? Kinda. Close to Me was shot in 1985 and most of the images to Just Like Heaven were shot in 1987. But they did use some old images of the cliff and the sea down below.
Great react.
I'd like to see your reaction to any of the band's big hits, The Lovecats, Hot hot hot, Fascination Street or Lullaby
Another good one... "Friday I'm in Love"...great video and vocals...🎤🎶🇬🇧
The whole disintegration album is beyond perfection and every track is so worth your time..!! It’s just hauntingly beautiful ❤
I think "Burn" live at Glastonbury is an absolute banger.
Definitely one of their better known songs. I'll have to go with live music for my recommendation so I'll say "Want" from 40 Live Curaetion 25 + Anniversary.
Robert Smith has a unique voice. I agree its sad and cheerful at the same time, in a weird way lol
The CURE=GOAT! ✌️
