The Cure will forever hold a place in every GenXers heart that had even the slightest bit of alt tendencies. Robert Smith's voice enchanted my teenage dreams
For being labeled “depressing/goth rock” music..they sure do make me happy. The best live band I’ve seen followed up by Depeche Mode. Please continue on your Cure journey. They’re so worth it.
Oh yeah, NOW we're talking! Pictures Of You, Lovesong, Boys Don't Cry, I could go on and on. They are still going strong to this day, with amazing new music and an album coming out soon.
This is probably my favorite song. I can't help but dance around when I hear it. As a college radio dj of the 80s, the Cure was a huge part of my DJ life.
The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Duran Duran were all big performers on the soundtrack to my youth. 😍 Love it! So glad to see you dipping your toes. Thanks for another fun reaction! Have a great day!
Seeing a young guy react to such great music from the past for the first time is a joy to watch. And I like that you learn a little bit about the songs before you hear them.
The Cure are timeless and a genre all of their own in my opinion. This song just lifts your spirits it's so dreamy! They have many great songs...pictures of you, Friday I'm in Love, In between days...Close to you, Let's go to bed. Then there's their newer ones, still going strong.
I love this one. If you want to explore more of that pop side of the cure my top two would be Friday I'm In Love, and Pictures of You. If you want to delve into the synth/new wave vibe Fascination Street off the Disintegration lp and The Forrest. If you want to brave stranger tides I sat Close to Me And Lullabye. But do Lullabye last before full albums because I don't want to scare you off
He and his wife have been together for 50 years and married for 35, as of 2023. He wrote this for her after a trip to the South of England, at the Beach. Lovesong was his wedding gift to her. Pictures of You he wrote after a house fire and he found pics of Mary in his wallet and rubble. Also, The Cure is going to be great no matter what song you pick. I've seen them 5 times over the past 4 decades and they are amazing every time.
Edward Scissorhands look was based off Robert Smith - as Tim Burton is a huge fan of The Cure. Also see, Sandman and The Crow which had influences from The Cure. Oh - and if you listen to The Cure live around 1992 - they could definitely have moments of hard rock with their wall of sound, drop d, distortion filled sets. They do have a wide range of sounds.
Robert Smith and the Cure are Legendary! Pictures of you, In Between Days, Lullaby, Love Song (covered by Adele on her "21" Album! Dive deep into this band! You won't be disappointed! 💋 🎶
They are amazing! A lot of great songs. They are great live. I have seen them twice and am planning on seeing them again in June. Boy's Don't Cry, Pictures of You, Lullaby, all are fantastic! You won't be disappointed with any of them.
I grew up on 60s and 70s rock, prog, blues, jazz and jazz fusion. I'm now heavily into Nightwish and Wintersun, but I adore The Cure. Always have and always will. Robert Smith is a great songwriter and poet. They still sound good live.
I think it's great that you're willing to touch on a broad spectrum of styles and genres - both as a person and as a reactor. That's what makes a channel like this interesting and fun, is seeing people stretch themselves and experience new things. Sure, you'll come across songs that you'd never give a second listen to - and some that you even hate. But there's so much great music out there in so many different genres, moods, eras etc. Why limit yourself? Really digging the channel.
I’m 52. The Cure, it’s a thing. Fascination Street remix I prefer. I love that their still out there doing it and fighting Ticketmaster. True goth hippies
There’s literally a dozen GREAT Cure songs that were popular. Across a few different moods, but always with great lyrics and a strong bass guitar underneath it all.
The Cure are one of my top 5 all time favourite bands. You should really try a song from each album. Their early stuff is far different from their middle stuff, which is far different from their later stuff, which you guessed it, is far different than their current stuff lol. Head on the Door and Pornography are both darker, gothier albums. If you want playful, try Love Cats (song), super cute and playful. The Cure is so multifaceted, and talented, to really get a feel for them, you've gotta take the plunge.
Salvo! One of my favorite alternative 80s rock songs! This is one of their more upbeat, lighter songs. They have a lot of much heavier, moodier songs. Very deep catalog of songs, and recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. A few of my favs: Close to You, Lovesong, Lullaby, The Walk, Let's Go to Bed, The Perfect Girl.
Another Cure song you may like is "In Between Days" from 1985. They had about 30 great songs. Seeing them play the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Glad you found them!
Queen, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Prince, Sublime, Violent Femmes,Sade, Billy Squier, Journey, Scorpion,& Heart, were the songs I played over and over until the tapes broke. ❤Thanks
It's so cool that you can have an appreciation for some of the big classic groups (Led Zeppelin and the Stones), and still like 80's synth-pop. You are my people.
That’s the music I grew up with brother.. there isn’t a better decade than the different genres during the 80’s.. the cure are amongst my favorite to this day and I still blast these songs at my gatherings.. you’d be surprised at how much the youngsters love it..
"Plainsong", "Pictures of You", "Disintegration", "A Forest", "Lullaby", "Boys Don't Cry", "The Lovecats", "Lovesong", "In Between Days", "Friday I'm In Love".
The Cure is a new wave band from the 80's, maybe post-punk, but for me it's an alternative with a mix of indie music like Talking Heads, New Order or Siouxsie and the Banshees. It was a new wave and a vogue for something new, The Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, The Psychedelic Furs, Japan, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and many others, I like this kind of music, although I am a fan of progressive rock, but the alternative kind of influenced for the further development of the rock music industry, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, Rammstein and so on.
Yes, a totally 80s sound 😂 You should check out their song "Lovesong" and for a bit of fun "Love Cats". You nailed it when you said this song could have been played in a classic 80s movie like Sixteen Candles. A GenX classic band for sure!
Awesome! One of my favorite Cure songs. I just scored tickets to see them in concert in a couple of months. Will be my first time seeing them and I’ve literally loved them since the 80s. The Cure have a ton of good songs. Please checkout an early song of their called “Primary” and make sure it’s the official video and tell us what you notice about the song.
I would listen to the Standing on a Beach collection of singles a ton when I was in the Army 90-91, loved the dreamy songs. There is a log of kind of "surf guitar" sounds in a lot what they play.
The Cure, eh? Sal - you are heading down a path that makes me so happy... If you get into their dreamy sound, don't shy away from Lullaby. 🕷🕸 This Twilight Garden is also stunning. Lot's of good stuff to explore here.
Right on Salvo!! The Cure is a very worthwhile rabbit hole, and this was a perfect starter. HIGHLY recommend the following next: Fascination Street, Lullaby, Lovesong, Push, A Forest, Burn, From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea...for starters. Great band - sure it's not for everyone - but this is FUN 80's New Wave! Great reaction.
You were just the cutest getting into this one!!! I have always had a special place for this one in my heart. After another grievous night at work, this reaction put me in the best mood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ps: I would agree that this is quite playful!!! I typically dance around like a maniac for this one!!!!!!!!!!
Huge Cure fan ..seen them numerous times in concert. You definitely picked a very upbeat happy song of theirs. The Cure is mainly known for darker mellow and depressing songs. Try A Forest, Boys Don’t Cry or my favorite Charlotte Sometimes. Enjoy SalvoG
This is definitely one of the more pop sounding songs they did, you have to listen to their older stuff to really get them. Goth/new wave/alternative. Now you should go listen to Siouxsie & the Banshees “Kiss Them For Me”. The Cure is going on tour in the US in May, wish I could go see them.
This reaction led me here! I love The Cure, and I hope you will too ❤ Check out "Fascination Street" or "Lullaby" for Gothic Rock, "Boys Don't Cry" or "Hot! Hot! Hot!" For post-punk pop, "Pictures of You" or "Love Song" for more cheesy catchy poppy goodness!
Dude, you do realize the song is about accidental or suicidal death, do you not? The wizardry of The Cure was to juxtapose the uptempo and upbeat sound of the music against the song's tragic lyrics. Its a masterpiece!
The Cure will forever hold a place in every GenXers heart that had even the slightest bit of alt tendencies. Robert Smith's voice enchanted my teenage dreams
His music expressed our angst
Very true!
Abosultely!!!
Definitely agree!
Moreover, Robert Smith is the only member of the group who is in it to this day, he is also the creator and leader of the group
Oh more Cure for sure ☺️
I fell in love with the Cure the first time I heard them.....his voice, their sound ❤❤
This is one of the best songs ever recorded. It gets better every time you hear it.
I am 60 years old. Got into the Cure in 1987. Hands down my all time favorite band. Title track on this album is amazing.

This is my favorite song of all time. It takes me to my happy place.
One of my most favorite Cure songs!
Lulluby, the forest and many other songs to listen to. The Cure has been one of the greatest band in the 80's but not only.
For being labeled “depressing/goth rock” music..they sure do make me happy. The best live band I’ve seen followed up by Depeche Mode. Please continue on your Cure journey. They’re so worth it.
My fav band Im 65...the music is so layered
One of the best pop ballads ever recorded.
Oh yeah, NOW we're talking! Pictures Of You, Lovesong, Boys Don't Cry, I could go on and on. They are still going strong to this day, with amazing new music and an album coming out soon.
Love Robert Smith and his Cure.
My favorite Cure song. That bridge into the last chorus is so uh....indescribable 😅❤
I love your passion and heart in reviewing these songs...Music clearly touches your heart...
I was always a metal head, but I kept this one in my heart as a secret
you can be a metalhead and listen to slow cheesy stuff as well. And you can wear it proud :)
You forgot New Order
You'll love "Friday I'm in Love" if you like this one. One of my favorite 80s bands!
Boys dont cry and Lullaby are also one of their best Songs. They have a massive catalog of great music. My favorite Band ever ❤
The Cure and Depeche Mode are my all time favorites! All Cure songs you noted are amazing, as well as countless others. Enjoy!!!
The Cure is one of my all time favorites! Thank you for checking them out!
Seeing a young guy react to such great music from the past for the first time is a joy to watch. And I like that you learn a little bit about the songs before you hear them.
Think you would enjoy Friday I'm in love....ty for your reaction!❤👍🔥

I grew up on classic rock, metal, then hc punk and hip-hop. I never gave them a chance till my 40's and now I love them.
Robert Smith and the Cure are Legendary! Pictures of you, In Between Days, Lullaby, Love Song (covered by Adele on her "21" Album! Dive deep into this band! You won't be disappointed! 💋 🎶
Ahhhh…that time in my life when the guys used more hairspray and wore more make-up than I did!!
This song and The Cure takes me back❤
They are amazing! A lot of great songs. They are great live. I have seen them twice and am planning on seeing them again in June. Boy's Don't Cry, Pictures of You, Lullaby, all are fantastic! You won't be disappointed with any of them.

Great choices, you can NEVER go wrong with The Cure. Seen them in concert several times. Hope you enjoyed it. ❤

The anthem of my life, and possibly my favorite song of all time. It never fails.
Another Cure song you may like is "In Between Days" from 1985. They had about 30 great songs. Seeing them play the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Glad you found them!

Fascination Street is a must.
Friday I'm in love & Lovesong both good ones too!
You should really check out their older stuff ex."10:15 Saturday night"/ "Grinding halt"
1 of the best intro's to a song 'period'............

I think it's pop genius. One of the top tier pop songs.
another one of my favorites bands. can't wait to see them next month!
Friday I'm in love would be a great song
Such a short but beautiful melody
Another band today that I have not heard or thought about since ..not recently if then! Thank you, You rick!
The Cure - "Fascination Street" is awesome!
Their best song!!
Yes, a totally 80s sound 😂 You should check out their song "Lovesong" and for a bit of fun "Love Cats". You nailed it when you said this song could have been played in a classic 80s movie like Sixteen Candles. A GenX classic band for sure!
my favorite band no doubt.
my favourite Cure song! Next would be Pictures of You
I always loved the ending of this. It's very unexpected.
Just saw them last month in SD.
Wish I had front row seats
They were amazing , of course!
Oh… I forgot to mention my all time favorite Cure song is called “One Hundred Years” and that would be a good example of their early Goth sound.
It’s the perfect pop song.
Love the Cure!Saw them in the 80s and they're great live xx
I would listen to the Standing on a Beach collection of singles a ton when I was in the Army 90-91, loved the dreamy songs. There is a log of kind of "surf guitar" sounds in a lot what they play.
More by The Cure!!
This was my teen music still love it
The Cure, eh? Sal - you are heading down a path that makes me so happy...
If you get into their dreamy sound, don't shy away from Lullaby. 🕷🕸
This Twilight Garden is also stunning.
Lot's of good stuff to explore here.
Edward Scissor Hand image is based Robert Smith
From someone who had The Cure posters on my teenage walls, I enjoyed.
YES!
I highly recommend “Pictures of You” and “InBetween Days.” You’ll love them!
This made me so very happy and very nostalgic!
Thanks - and please more of the Cure. You just can't go wrong.
Saludos desde Valencia España ✌️
LOVED synth dominated tunes from bands like The Cure and others, such ‘as ‘Tainted Love’ by Soft Cell
Love The Cure. Saw them the night before I turned 21. A Forest would definitely be a good choice to try next
Edward Scissorhands was based on Robert Smith (the Cure's lead singer) - that's how iconic the Cure are.
Love Cats!!!
'The Lovecats,' 'Let's Go To Bed,' and 'Inbetween Days' are all great songs that showcase Robert Smith's lyrical genius.
This is pop perfection. Overall I prefer their earlier, edgier stuff, but this song is irresistible.
You were just the cutest getting into this one!!! I have always had a special place for this one in my heart. After another grievous night at work, this reaction put me in the best mood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ps: I would agree that this is quite playful!!! A song I recommend is Just say yes by the cure, it’s truly amazing
It´s a great song! You have to listen "Pictures of you"and "A night like this"
Not a GenXer, but I've loved this since it was released!!! 🎶🎼🎵🥁🎸🎹🎤🎙🎧🤘🤘
the piano line is the best. another song you may wanna check- Letter To Elise-the music has the same melancholic vibe.
I highly recommend Fascination Street.
Check out the song by a group called modern English the song is "I'm melt with you"
"In Between Days" would be one you would really like, if you like this one.
This reaction led me here! I love The Cure, and I hope you will too ❤
Check out "Fascination Street" or "Lullaby" for Gothic Rock, "Boys Don't Cry" or "Hot! Hot! Hot!" For post-punk pop, "Pictures of You" or "Love Song" for more cheesy catchy poppy goodness!
Ciao ✌️ devi ascoltare the very beginnig of the drums 🎉
I recommend the extended version of “Pictures if You”( about 7 minutes)
A Forest Live in 1992 is the best Version of the Song
Have you reacted to Yes "Roundabout" yet? I didn't see it. I think you would absolutely love it.
Dude, you do realize the song is about accidental or suicidal death, do you not? The wizardry of The Cure was to juxtapose the uptempo and upbeat sound of the music against the song's tragic lyrics. Its a masterpiece!
Disentegration, or Fascination Street, or Burn. I hope you'll love these
