This genre of music has been around forever and has always been one of my guilty pleasures. I rather be listening to this genre compared to music without any creativity or effort put into the music. Power metal is one of those forces of nature in the metal world that pretty much anyone can enjoy even if they are not really into metal. The soaring vocals, the catchy choruses and the wondrous riffs, solos and keyboard flourishes are what make power metal so addicting.The other element of power metal that makes it immense is the thematic elements found in the lyrics and music. Dragonlance and a slew of other fantasy genres there is always something for a listener to enjoy and even learn from. I have found so many obscure fantasy novels and such after listening to power metal in this genre. There is just a appreciation all around for fantasy, horror and science fiction that it feels like I am among my peers when I am immersed in the likes of DragonForce.Another thing that any should experience is seeing these power metal bands live. The energy of the stage and the audience is just an incredible experience to embrace.(DragonForce) are one of the most consistent bands I know and I am always static to hear what they come up with when they write new material. The future of power metal is also something to be static about there are some new, younger acts creating amazing music. The list consists of Gloryhammer, Twilight Force, Dragonland, and Pathfinder to name a few. These bands are developing fresh ideas but still keep to the roots of the likes of DragonForce, Rhapsody of Fire etc. Like the other genres of metal out there, there are bands who are remaining innovative and fresh but keeping to what makes that style of metal so addicted to begin with. Embrace the cheesiness of it, let the music make you feel happy and alive sometimes diverging from your normal bubble can lead to some wonderful growth as a metal fan. Be the dungeon master of your story take the forest trail less traveled and be blown away by the majestic beauty to be found at the end of road. “On wings and winds we ride Towards a land so green Take me across the horizons To the forest of destiny When we reach that place So far beyond the sun Where hopes and dreams come true In the forest of destiny”.

Sounds like Blindboy Boatclub on ligo bigo 😂 Kat warn't highly successful band, tho during this period their handlers who signed Kat, 'Peaceville Records' (British independent record label) who wanted Kat to change the sub-genre to more modern what was trending during this period in 2001, which made sense at the time. I personally wasn't a fan of the album 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down'. Nor a fan of the vocality which wobble in and out of key. Kat already stripped most of their early death/doom elements on "Discouraged Ones (1998)", and although both that album and "Tonight´s Decision (1999)" are still fairly heavy albums, they are not the most metal oriented albums. Instead it´s more like a British style era post NWOBHM, or more correctly a combination of heavy alternative rock/metal and dark new wave/alternative rock, which is a more valid description of the band´s music. There's the Peaceville Life book by Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw Founder of Peaceville Records, which signed some of the most infamous death/black/doom metal and crust punk bands worldwide in the late '80's and throughout the '90's who began playing drums at school and became a 'punk rocker'. He formed the band Instigators with his school friend Simon Mooney (guitar). After Simon Bridgewater (vocals) and Simon Elsey (bass) joined, they made some demo recordings at Lion Studios in Leeds, UK. These collected demos became the first release on Hammy's then cassette-only label, Peaceville Tapes, in 1983.

Good reaction. On the instruments: The winding one is a Hurdy Gurdy, the instrument that you confused with a Hurdy Gurdy (at the very beginning) is called Nyckelharpa. You should try "Helvegen" from Wardruna feat. Aurora for starters.

This album got me hooked to Unleash the Archers. I love the whole scifi concept and the more progressive aproach compared to the previous albums. Loved your in depth reactions. To me Gods in Decay and Phantoma are my favorites of the album. I agree that the beginning and blood empress is strongest of the album. My wife got me into the long ballad, since she pointed out the strong points of the song. Sad it came to an end with the final song :)

Welcome to the party, pal... Don't sweat the tears. I've been all about this album since release day in 2018, and Ruby Pool gets me every single time. To me, it's songwriting perfection, a liminal space in sound. Here's hoping these guys wind up on your personal playlist moving forward. They've got a couple early EPs(both quite good), three full-length LPs (all stellar), and we're two singles into the release cycle for album number four this fall. Those show they're still developing as musicians and as songwriters, and I can't wait for the rest. Happy listening...

I can tolorate Arch Enemy tho not a fan! one of my top 10 Illustrious virtuoso artists Andy Sneap who co-produced 'Doomsday Machine' album (mastering/mixing) posh English guy 😂 Andy Sneap’s name appears on albums by Judas Priest, Carcass, Napalm Death, Megadeth etc and the list continues. He has produced a number of albums which have been spinning on players of metalheads around the world. Besides working with bands, his first band Sabbat has reached cult status amongst many thrash fans. The Sabbat albums are still as relevant and as back then when they saw the light of day. Andy Sneap’s current band Hell has gained massive interest as the debut album called HUMAN REMAINS is an outstanding release for sure. Sabbat and of course his long career as a producer. Andy Sneap's mixing and mastering elevate sounds to new heights. Everything sounds massive, clean, exact, and balanced - to say the least. Andy Sneap is a guitarist and songwriter, though mostly known these days as a producer. He founded Sabbat at the age of 16, wrote all the music and released three albums with them, producing the latter two himself. After the initial splitting up of Sabbat and failing to achieve similar success with Godsend, he decided to focus on a career as a producer and has found great success in this field, working with bands as diverse as Masterplan and Killswitch Engage. Since 2008, he's also the guitar player and co-composer in Hell. He owns, runs and is the resident producer at Backstage studios in Derbyshire, UK, which he founded in 1994. Backstage studios currently have Megadeth's old live set-up as one of the studio kits. Hell's "Curse and Chapter" was recorded using that equipment :)

Arch Enemy really grew up on me over time to be one of my favourites! You definitely should listen to more! I think they also improved musically with time (and we can argue in context of vocals, but instrumentally - pure improvement)..
