You are so right. There is so little exercise training in the US really by those who understand OP. Next time I go to PT, I will be sure to ask about their strength and conditioning knowledge as it relates to OP and OA.
From Google: “Osteostrong” is a type of bone strengthening that uses brief (12 min), weekly, low-impact, high-intensity osteogenic loading. Aim: to investigate the therapeutic impact of Osteostrong in people with osteoporosis. It is a controversial program so do your research before participating. I, for one, am not doing it.
Great interview and content! I am still perplexed how I got osteoporosis after walking/hiking all the years and yoga the last 12 years. Though I did slack of on the yoga the last 3 during COVID to 1X/week or less. Maybe that did it.
I'm in the same camp as you in the physical activity department, but I didn't do resistance or weight training which seems to be key. I also have the genetic factor.
Thank you for this very valuable and educational presentation!
A wealth of great and practical information!

No Bonefit specialists in NH. So hard to find osteoporosis knowledgeable trainers.
It seems like it's hard to find specialists across the USA. This is an untapped resource for sure.
Thank you! Wonderful information!
