Bethesda's Creative Director Responds to Starfield DLC's Negative Steam Reviews - IGN Daily Fix

- Starfield’s DLC Shattered Space was meant to resuscitate Bethesda’s 2023 new IP, but it seems the DLC has been met with mostly negative user reviews on Steam. Complaints have ranged from the DLC having a boring design to a lack of value to the overall narrative and gameplay. And now, Bethesda’s Design Director decided to take to Twitter to respond to user sentiment on its DLC and the game as a whole: “Maybe it’s a game of expectations. Fans want a lot, and we do all we can to accommodate them. Here’s what I can tell you - nobody, and I mean nobody, at Bethesda is patting themselves on the back while ignoring our players.” This was in response to a fan suggesting Bethesda don’t really hold its fanbase’s opinions too highly, being dismissive of their concerns around Starfield. The design director went on to assure fans that the company is in fact listening to its community to fix anything that may be an issue that players notice. One thing the design director said that I want to take aim at is, “Most of the quests and levels were done by designers who have worked on previous Bethesda games and DLCs, going all the way back to Morrowind.” And that right there might be the issue players are frustrated with. Maybe It seems to some that Bethesda hasn’t evolved its formula and quite possibly feels a bit outdated. Or it could be the opposite for some: maybe it feels like Bethesda has deviated too far from what made its previous entries so well-received by players and fans.

They desperately want starfield to be their next big elder scrolls or fallout, but the creators of those series are no longer working on them anymore.
The current creative simply doesn’t have the same level of talent that those who created fallout and elder scrolls some 30 years ago did.
The current Bethesda crew led by Todd Howard has only been reiterating all the concepts of the original creators for the last 20 years.
Unfortunately that may be the case...😢

If a DLCs job is to give you more of the game, then Shattered Space is a good DLC. It just happens to be more of Starfield.

Im ganna be honest Morrowind and Skyrim had pretty meh quests. All of the fun in the game came from the gear grind gameplay loop, the exploration and the abundance of content. All of which is missing in Starfield.
Bonus , ES6 has no excuse not to have LEVITATION

Starfield is a game filled with missed opportunities and surface level gameplay… the only thing that has depth is the Ship builder but space is uninteresting and the space combat is not that fun…
So tired of ppl exclaiming about stuff like the car in Starfield. It’s there because they made a massively underwhelming, badly designed game. ‘We do all we can’? Bullshit. It doesn’t take eight years to make the best game of 2010.

Simple - What CDPR give us with Phantom Liberty DLC - coolest new place, coolest and beautifulest new characters, awesome main story and more awesome side quests and Cyberpunk 2077 already have a cutting limbs, gore, leg and shadow from 1st person view and look ont this little piece of crap called Shattered Space for 30$.

The Game is fine, BGS best Game if it comes to Quests and Faction Storylines. Exploration is not bad at all, its just different. Reminds me more of classics like Starflight or Star Control (2). IMO the only real issue: The Outpost System have no purpose (yet).
Bethseda has often been a mix of both outdated, and making their games less challenging since Morrowind/Oblivion. Their style may work if they kept embracing rpg elements. They want to make their games very accessible to a wide audience, but its hard to appease a wide audience if they can't modernize the engine and features to the same level as other top games. Randomly generated areas also work best for dungeon crawler and roguelike games like Binding of Isaac or Cult of the Lamb. Games with lots of exploration need some areas with more polish and a reason to be unique, something to catch a person's attention as a landmark. Starfield isn't bad, but its exploration feels less exciting when running into the same labs and bunkers on every planet. In some cases, doesn't even feel as randomly generated with the layouts almost being identical.
It felt like a T rated fallout in space, felt goofy, didnt have any geit

gamers might not be any more intelligent than they were before but they're way more selective

Don't hate Bethesda games, the IP's are fun and great scenarios but yes, technic is way too old and feels kinda dusty. But over all for me, it works to play every few years a Bethesda IP, mostly diving into the wastelands for 50-100hrs. Like Fallout 76 today, after the baaaad Release, it's a nice to play game today👍.

Modders would never want this at all and considering they are trying to relearn it because it is not wholly the same as SKYRIM/F4 at all , actually been the reason why there hasnt been a lot of mods of large scope because they are still figuring the new stuff out

Skyrim is way better than Oblivion. Oblivion is the precursor of all the settlement quest of FO4. With super weird NPC design. It's the worse installment of the series. Well so far.
