Oz the Great and Powerful - Caravan Of Garbage
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лис 2024
- In 2013 Sam Raimi decided to try something a little out of his wheelhouse of horror or comic book movies and directed a Wizard of Oz prequel focusing on the great and powerful wizard. Starring James Franco (RIP), Michelle Williams, Milla Kunis and Rachel Weisz it details his arrival into the mystical land, the origin of the Wicked Witch of the West and how the wizard has always been a dog of a bloke. Not a bad one to be honest. Anyways, thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review

God damn if it doesn't crack me up every time when Lawrence (and/or Ben) do bizarre edit inserts as James & Maso demand them. The editing in CoG is always absolutely top tier and the editors deserve so much credit for everything they add.
The Frank Castle panic shots when James is saying write to Lawrence about bad sperm were perfection
I would have written out Caravan of Garbage instead of abbreviating it. I am not saying you should have. I am just telling you what I have done.
Ben & Lawrence, The Boys behind The Boys, and they all do such great work for us... Bless this content.
2:57 cracked me tf up
Even Spoilers for no apparent reason. Really top shelf stuff…
Fun story about this movie: i went to see it in theaters with my gf and it was release day and we were a little early. Bought the tickets, went to the door, went to walk in and a group of what I can only describe as Oz fanatics stopped us and said "uh, there's a line!" And it was probably about 5 people all in Wizard of Oz clothes just hanging out near the door. So we apologized and stood behind them until an usher led us all in. When the movie began, the only people in the audience were the 5 Oz superfans and us. They appeared dejected when the movie ended. I still think about that frequently.
Genuinely an amazing story. The audacity!
That’s hilarious lol
What a story, mark
They also may have looked that way at the end of the movie because for a diehard Oz fan it was just awful! I find it funny that I could not disagree more with the positive things these guys are saying about it. I literally think the exact opposite of their good comments 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
That sucks lol.
I'm still convinced that James Franco's role as the Wizard was written for Bruce Campbell (it is basically the perfect part for him) and the studios wanted to go for a younger, more recognizable face.
With Bruce this might have been an actual good movie.
Oh Bruce would've absolutely brought the energy needed for this. He can be cartoony and double-sided easily. Him bantering and getting in arguments with the monkey wouldve been amazing.
What a missed opportunity
True, that’s basically Ash in Army of Darkness. He comes out of the sky and everybody thinks he’s the chosen one but he’s a selfish jerk
Glad to hear someone else say the exact thing, I always thought it was written with him in mind!
I guess maybe it was purely down to star power, I honestly think Franco might be the worst actor I've ever seen but I'd put money on more people knowing him over bruce Campbell.... Which is just a sad statement to even type.
The next video better start immediately with James saying "... So here's The Thing."
The Thing is I’m expecting it now …
Things and prizes
Or Joe Biden going: "It's uh, you know... The thing!"
And it’s just a picture of Ebon Moss-Bachrach
*otherwordly mutated shrieking*
I love how 7 minutes into this review James just goes “can I review a different movie? Can we do the thing instead”. That’s why I love this channel, because you truly do not care at all! ❤
So excited, I love the Thing, but I also love people gushing about loving The Thing.
And by the way he never said anything about can we do the thing instead at the beginning of this video he never said that

My only two problems with this Army of Darkness remake.
1. The lead actor.
2. It pretends green Mila Kunis is not extra hot.
Green makeup just makes people hot.
There’s an army of darkness remake?
We all want a green girlfriend - preferably orc - it is just basic science.
James Franco is a great actor

It's sad that there's approximately 3 dozen Oz books and they keep ignoring them in favor of prequels.
The MGM film was too good.
To be fair, there’s approximately half a book that the first two movies never got around to and this movie uses elements from that.
RIP James Franco. He died doing what he loved. Drinking piss. His own? who's to say

Ben's brother also does amazing, strange videos under the title CJ the X. Some men just wanna watch the world burn.
When this movie was being made, there was a big push in Michigan for film studio incentives, and there was all this hype around it, like Michigan could be the next big thing in film making. So they built this huge studio in Pontiac, MI, and that's where this was filmed. During filming, they invited some state representatives to come and visit the set, to try and gain their support. I happen to be related to one of those representatives (first cousin once removed lol), and knowing that I was a big fan of film and animation, he reached out to see if I wanted to go with him. So I got to tour the whole place, walking right on to some of the sets. I was in a throne room with gold scattered everywhere, a dark forest with ten foot tall mushrooms, and a huge open warehouse like space, where they had the air balloon suspended on a wire that could "fly" across the set.
At one point, we were standing just outside one of the sets, with around ten of the film-crew. A door opens, and Rachel Weisz walks out. She had just finished a scene, so she's in full wardrobe, looks incredible, and of course, everyone just turns to stare at her..
She gave us an awkward, "Hey, guys!" 🙂
We responded, "Hi..." 🥴
Then she was swiftly taken away by golf cart.
All in all, it was really fun experiencing something like that happening right here in my home state. Unfortunately, the incentives were cut when Snyder took office (same guy that was at least partially responsible for the Flint water crisis - great guy), and the Michigan film industry pretty much died after that.
Yeah, Snyder cuts are always disappointing.
@@vaguerant 😂

This was a very cool story. Thank you for sharing.
And a sad one, as well. Though I guess as someone who sometimes makes money in the BC film industry I should be grateful that our bribes to Mr. Snyder paid off!
17:08 The fact that a Wicked trailer explicitly showing as a musical mere hours before this video became available to the majority of people leads me to believe that someone at Universal has a personal vendetta against one Nick Mason
Yes, but people are morons.
It's his father.
I never thought I'd ever hear Mason say "Dump him, girl!"

With regard to Oz the Great and Powerful - The Thing is one of my favorite movies. It has probably the best dog actor i’ve ever seen. It walks down a hallway, pauses and looks in each door - like an alien trying to figure things out. Basically, displaying uncharacteristically somber behavior for a dog.
Time for The Trivia! That's because it was a wolf-dog hybrid. The crew and actors all raved about how much better it was as an actor than a regular dog, because it would hit its marks and complete its directions so perfectly as to almost be robotic.
The fact that it was a wolf-dog also caused all of the other dogs in the film (who were Siberian Huskies) to be naturally wary of it. In the scene where the ThingDog is first put into the kennel and lays down while the other dogs move away from it, looking terrified -- no training was given to the Huskies! They were actually just that uncomfortable with the wolf-dog.
The wolf-dog's name was "Jed" and also starred in the "White Fang" movies! :)

Someone should pin this to the top. Not cool to spoil unrelated films, folks.
Fun Fact:
"Bad Sperm" was the original working title for Star Wars
definitely the working title of The Phantom Menace
Bad aperm is often ejaculated after a bad case of blue balls and stronger fresher sperm has to be grown or "harvested" in order to have a successful offspring. Thus leading to the working title of this movie...
I just wanna say, I love how much personality Ben and Lawrence add to the videos with the editing. I don't think I've ever seen that with any other channel to be honest.

Lovely to see Mark and the boys, thank you Lawrence.
I remember really liking this film with the exception of James, Mila and why the witch turnes wicked. If they had Rachel Weisz as the Wicked Witch and Bruce Campbell as Oz along with giving her more agency as to why she turnes and not have it be she got tricked by her sister because a boy broke her heart it would have worked so much better. Having said that the ending to this film is great... and powerful.

Absolutely insane to me that Mason would go for "Wizards of Odds(?)" when the boys are literally from Oz.
That's why I love them, they subvert my expectations for making sense!
I loved this movie when it came out and could not understand all the hate it got. For some mysterious reason that NO ONE can ever never explain, James Franco (god rest his soul) plays a great hack fraud.
Maso saying "you liked Garden State when it came out!l killed me. Like he got him 😭😭😭
It's funny because lots of people, including myself, liked Garden State when it came out. Because when you're 19-20 years old, you really believe you're gonna meet a girl like Natalie Portman in a psychiatrist's waiting room and it will require almost no effort on your part. But oof, that movie is painfully bad when you watch it 10 years later.

As a Polish woman, I am deeply distraught Milka did not get a shoutout in this video. It's so tasty, and little known fact, their packaging legally has to be a different shade of purple than Cadbury. That's a fun fact that I don't know how I know, but it feels kind of on-theme with the discussion about MGM owning the Wicked Witch's specific shade of green. Lawrence, don’t ever changes. You too Ben, whenever you may be.
It truly is a shame that whenever people talk about The Wizard of Oz, and other adjacent films, nobody EVER mentions The Wiz. And maybe I'm very attached to the movie because I'm African-American and it's a staple project within the Black community, but even aside from that, The Wiz was a technically impressive film within its own right. The music was incredible (which is to be expected when you have both Michael Jackson and Diana Ross playing the leads), the sets (especially the set piece under the Twin Towers which doubled for the Emerald City) were awe inspiring and the alternate take on the world is darkly beautiful with an urban twist.
I wish UA-camrs would give more shine to The Wiz, because it truly deserves it (especially over films like Oz, the Great and Powerful). But I know they never will.
You keep talking about getting scarred as kids for the last two. I was 11 when this came out and the Mika Kunis becoming a witch thing scarred the bejeezus out of me. That’s why I haven’t gone back.

Loved this breakdown - I always enjoyed this film. It's very Raimi, and I'll always take more Raimi in the world (and ... he's sorta stretching his aesthetic a bit? Taking some interesting risks, having been given some good funds to play with for the effects and overall production design), And, it was a shame Franco died when he did, cos he does show some good range in this, more than I'd seen him do in any other of his films. You're so right about Williams being so deeply wholesome and GOOD - she makes it way more than just one note - her glowing goodness and powerful innocence is so deep it's actually scary! Kunis - great as always. I wish she was in more films. I even watch Jupiter Ascending because of her!
