What a perfect quote to capture my sentiment. Thank you for sharing!
Damn that's good
Captured my mind too. Thanks for sharing!!
i love this!
"Leisure is fuel" is a great saying!
So thankful for some of the cultural shift away from "hustle harder" culture that used to dominate everywhere. This video and leisure as fuel is so much healthier. It's not a matter of wanting to be less productive but rather prioritizing health in all forms above working ourselves into the grave.
Beautiful video!
Absolutely. Put in quality, whether work or leisure, and be intentional about what you do.
Every time I hear someone say the internet is all just junk I think of this channel and the level of quality you provide, it is truly inspiring!
That means a lot. Thanks for the kind words.
At this stage in my life having a a crazy schedule running an indie studio, trying to stay green with learning, finding time for hobbies, raising two children, and trying to stay sane...I can attest to need to disconnect and do mindless things. It's not just valuable, it's necessary. Excellent video as always Matthew.
Sounds like a lot to juggle, but you're doing it. Cheers
Thanks
You’re the first tip ever! Thank you!
This is exactly what I needed to see and hear going into 2022. The last few months of 2021 were an unorganized blur and I wasn’t looking forward to jumping back into that mess after the holidays. But after some downtime I’ve been able to recharge and now I’m excited to put your suggestions into practice.
Also, the video was shot extremely well as always and excellent choice on the Keychron K7 👀
Thanks for the kind words. Have a happy new year.
Loving your videos for so many reasons, nuggets of truth, knowledge and tips of wellbeing. 🐕
Thank you 🐕
I love the phrase "work less. " It shifts the dynamic completely; allowing one to assess if a task is truly meaningful, and whether or not you're taking the optimized steps within the time frame given. Love it!
🙏🏽
I'm frequently guilty of playing my videos at 1.5 or 2x speed, trying to cram as much content consumption as I can in my viewing. However, your videos always force me to slow down, contemplate and consider my sense of urgency. As I reached the end of this video, I felt...calm? Or just sort of quieter in my own mind. It's hard to describe, but it's similar to the feeling I get after I've been in a period of flow and deep work.
It's engaging content that asks of me to be more intentional with my time, and because of that, you received a new subscriber.
I appreciate that and thanks for sharing the insight.
This video is so timely. I’ve been struggling with the same things you mentioned in the beginning of the video. So much value packed in one video and also shot so well. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this Matthew!
Thanks Edward. We got this. 💪🏽
"...there are no boundaries between work and home which lead to overworking or never working."
Wow this hit me hard. Thanks for this great upload yet again!
Sometimes I wish your videos would never end. It's a different kind of therapy 🌻
☀
It’s 3am and I am benge watching all of your videos. You are now one of my favorite youtubers. I love your visuals and storytelling. I’m a videographer in Louisiana and is inspired so much by your content. You’ve gained a faithful follower. 😊
Thank you Miss Jae!
This was awesome bruh I'm learning lot of new things and insights from your content as an artist also make a video on branding and logo design !
That's wonderful to hear!
Growing up we had this notion that people who stand top of the class spend 8 hours or more studying and in most cases it was true however there was this one teacher who told me differently.. the message I got was it does not matter how long you are with the books but what you do when you are in front of them makes the difference … simple , sensible and obvious … this video sort of brought that message back in a more resounding way ! Thank you!
What a great teacher. What I learned from Jim Kwik, knowledge is only potential power. It’s what you do with it that matters.
So many good tips and beautifully shot video!
Thanks Derek. Good to see you here. Happy holidays friend!
Hey bro, your channel is helping so many people to work smart.....
Glad I could help
Funny that all my distractions kept me from watching this, even though I saw the notification weeks ago. Luckily, UA-cam’s algorithm bumped it to the top again. 😅
For me, #1 cause to not getting work done- distractions! They are everywherreeee. The days I turn on Focus mode, and avoid checking news - I feel super productive.
Thanks so much Matt, please keep up the awesome work. I would love if you explored the energy aspects of modern work/life balance. Given that a majority of people may WFH permanently - finding the time to refuel, being in right mindset, finding new passions/hobbies- I think these may need to be inspired from outside our homes, particularly for those in apartments. Food for thought. 🙂
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback
Man these videos are so good. I’ve been struggling with motivation as a recent college grad. I’ve been getting many rejections from software companies because competition is very strong, but this video gave me a boost to start managing my time again and keep working and improving to hopefully land something soon.
Keep going. You'll get to where you need to be.
Love how it’s concise and compact. The video had an hour of knowledge in about 10 mins
👌🏽
Dude, I love this video. I started reading Essentialism because of you and I can already connect what you're saying in this video to that book. It's truly amazing to see how little changes can have massive impact, and you're a living and breathing example of it.
Looking forward to more of your content in the future. Cheers to a new year soon!
Cheers. it's a great book!
What an amazing content on youtube!! A big fanboy from far away.
I am determined to get distractions out of my life during the work day. Your tips are very helpful. Small timer and shutting off notifications are going to be the first changes I make to my routine. Great video as always.
👌🏽
I really appreciate the unhurried, contemplative tone of your videos. It is a welcome change from a lot of the more manic content I often find myself surrounded by and it makes it much easier to focus on what you are actually saying. Thanks! 🐕
You're welcome. Glad I can find other who can appreciate a slower, natural pace.
Matthew, such a great video! I love the helpful ideas and your peaceful delivery of them against the beautiful Santa Monica backdrop. So excited that you have found your rhythm and are gracefully moving towards your goals. My favorites insights were: 1) Your environment can support your focus. This is a Feng Shui principle that some people overlook. 2) Distance = perspective. As you so aptly state, giving your brain space helps connect the dots and illuminates the bigger picture 3) Knowing your body and it's cycles of energy. This definitely supports me in not scheduling sessions late in the afternoon when my energy is low. I have a tip for balancing working from home so they don't blend ;-) KIDS! I focus on them until I get them off to school, then shift the focus to me. I prioritize exercise, then I work fairly intensely with clients from 10am-4pm when my KIDS get home. I take eating and mindful Matcha latte breaks in between -- but after they are home, I shift my focus back to them. If there's an extra project I need to focus on, I use the weekends b/c I don't feel burned out from the week. So, kids are a great and supportive boundary! LOL. Love you and love the work you are doing, Matthew. Fantastic.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your insights and helping to give me some perspective in my own journey.
Really great bonus tips in regards to family 👌🏽
Hope you’re well. We need to catch up!
I watch this every few months to realign my productivity. Super helpful! Thanks Matthew!
👌🏽
this is so great
Thanks Ali. I know you of all people would appreciate it.
UA-cam recommended this to me. I appreciate it.
👌🏽
This was awesome Matthew! I've definitely been learning this from a lot of the books I've read this year (Deep Work and others). Thanks!
What other books do you recommend?
Why in the hell do I get so excited that you dropped a new video? I thought my coffee was good this morning. Gosh, your videos must be that good. Great video Matt!
🙏🏽
Beautiful video with beautiful insights. Thanks for the tips Matt 🍵
Thanks Mayuko. Great to see you here.
Man. It’s small details but I’m so fired up to try this. I think I was not setting boundaries and allowing people and things to invade my space regardless of where I was at productive wise. Thanks Matthew.
Wish you the best
This was amazing Matt!
Thanks Carlo. Happy new year!
As a Christian creative, daily time with Jesus in the morning helps center me to start the day. That sets the tone, helping me move throughout the day with Him on my mind. This fuels my creativity, as I seek to pour truth, grace and beauty in to my work for the glory of God and the good of my fellow human.
Thank you Matt, for such a wonderful, valueable content. This helped me be more productive by doing less and make time for myself. Especially now as I commit being a full-time freelancer. Thanks again buddy!
You're welcome Eyel!
Video taking, Editing, Voice, everything is so soothing.
Now add kids to the mix...
Or just don't 😅
this video was so helpful, I couldn't seem to focus at all the other day but after a while I sat down and saw this, and it really helped me focus and zero down on work. thank you!!!
Glad it helped
My favorite quote when it to properly systematizing and delegating to employees in my small business:
“I want to accomplish more and more, by doing less and less, until I accomplish everything by doing nothing.”
Your content and production quality is some of the best I’ve seen on UA-cam, awesome job man!
Thank you!
recently i’ve been struggling with staying focused, and your videos have been extremely helpful. thank you
You’re welcome
Having just moved to New York about a month ago, I lost a lot of the productivity that I once had. This video was just what I needed, not only to regain what I was, but to become even better. Thank you always for your videos, Matthew!
Thanks for the thoughtful responses, always.
@@MatthewEncina you’re very welcome!
Hidden among other stuff on his channel, this man has some of the best productivity advice (for creators) available on UA-cam today. Beautifully shot and narrated, it's looks and feels...pretty timeless.
Appreciate the kind words
Such an amazing video Matthew! Your voice and the way you explain your thoughts are always so calm and measured, very relaxing thank you! ✌️
Glad you enjoyed. Great to see you here Dansky. Hope you're well!
these videos are actually insane i was always distracted watching these videos and i can safely say this is the first time I have watched one of your videos with no distraction at all these videos are so well put totgether and super easy to grasp
I'm glad. Put that focus to use.
This video just gave me life! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 Thank you!! So many golden nuggets here!
Cheers
Been struggling with being unproductive for a while and I always rewatch your previous videos for inspiration and whenever I'm out of track. I'm not working for a week now due to some tragedy and probably start over again soon with new routine, organization and management but the good thing is one of my heroes uploaded a video about this, wow thanks.
You're welcome. Take it easy. Take it slow.
Well done man. I will say for myself, I find that when I focus too much on planning my day/how I do things. I get lost in the actual routine and not in the work that I'm doing. I guess I just need to optimize the routine that works for me so I don't have to think about it. I always get so stressed out when I start a routine and then inevitably break it because of my ADHD. Then again, everyone is different. I have to spend time meditating and giving myself space to get into deep work. Respect for putting yourself out there and helping others, Matthew! Much love
I like to plan ahead as well, and can understand how that can get in the way from the actual work. These days I'm a lot more loose with my schedule, and have found a good groove with the tips I've shared. Hope you find your focus.
Thank you for being honest and helpful
🙏🏽
"No boundaries between work and home."
That's 100 percent true, man.
🐕🐕🐕🐕 Thanks for your very well written video descriptions. I look forward to your content this year.
You're welcome 🐕
Thank you for wonderfull video Matthew!
You're welcome
So True, and so helpful! Thank you!🙌
You're welcome
Really like your content and can totally relate to some of the things which I struggle too and glad that I am not the only one. One which really motivated me was "Listen to your body". I have always been told "early to bed and early to rise" since my childhood but have found out that I best work and am more productive at night between 10PM-1AM. I will try to listen to my body now as adjust my schedule accordingly.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks, this video really helped me. These days i'm submerged by homework and i needed a way to organize my different tasks. You really helped me, thank you so much and happy new year.
You’re welcome.
Some of our hobbies are fun but mentally draining. Thanks for reminding us to clear our minds to recharge and gain a fresh perspective.
Man you actually deserve 20+ million subscribers.Brilliant work❤️❤️❤️
Thanks
Less than 1 minute in and I am hooked.
You just got another subscriber Matthew.
🙏🏽
I can view this n number of times to boost myself to change slowly everyday.
Thanks Matthew!
👌🏽
Again, this is the top video telling us how to WFH and I like the concept 'Listen to your body'. Thank you, Matthew!
👌🏽
a great reminder for me on how to stay creative and productive
Great. Thank you for sharing this.
It really is so very helpful..
You're welcome
Love your content. Great work on all the details.
Thanks Christie
One of the most inspirational videos I've watched as a working individual.
Cheers
Thank you Matthew Encinas
Productivity has been such a struggle for me and it’s become especially highlighted after starting a UA-cam channel. The amount of time and tasks required has been eye-opening to say the least 😅 I can always use a reminder to slow down. Awesome video man!
Thanks. Running a UA-cam channel can be its own multi-headed beast.
Oh man, I tried the timer method when I was lesson planning tonight. Most productive 3 hours ever. Loved it, thanks for the content, your videos are awesome.
Awesome! Congrats!
A Great video one of my faves. It's funny as a musician artist and video maker I have worked at home for years. I use to go to outside studios when I had a record and publishing deals. But most of the time I was home. Now I believe it or not I have two desks(one for me and my Partner) at WeWork so I can be focused on certain tasks like simple video editing social media and business stuff. I still do most of my creating at my home studio but the Wework does help me focus. This video we great I'm going to try some of your tips
Thanks. I’ve been thinking about an extra office away from home. Still trying to keep overhead as low as possible though
It’s been too long since the last video, but it’s all worth the wait. Great work Matthew!
Thanks Ron. I try to keep things up as best I can.
Watching this video was on my list of To-Do's. Now I feel productive. Thanks Matt!
Cheers
Great reminders for 2022. Thanks, Matt! Have a happy new year!
Thanks Gelo HNY
I love your content! It's the perfect balance of creativity and productivity which are both really important to me. Your videos inspire me to get things done, to make over my home, write my bachelors thesis or to improve my own UA-cam channel. It's amazing, thanks for the awesome content and keep on with the great work!
Thank you. 🙏🏽 Constantly balancing and fine-tuning over here.
wow! I'm not sure how much more of a great storyteller you can become because this video was phenomenal!! Extremely informative & beautifully shot!
I appreciate that. Things can always be better. Continual improvement.
Thank you so much for your amazing videos Matthew! Best wishes from Italy!
Cheers
This video was wonderfully calming and inspiring. Thank you very much!
You’re welcome
Love this content, taking note on the tips to improve my productivity.
Loved the first 90 seconds of this video! Great kick off
Thanks!
Needed this video today. Been struggling to start an important personal project this whole week. Locking it in for a good work sprint.
Do it.
This is exactly what I needed, Your video on your office with the mixing deck under the desk really helped with my bedroom redecorating that I’m currently doing, I have yet to watch this video but it looks like it’s going to be amazing. Thanks.
Nice
Love your calm vibes while you provide awesome & unique value to your videos. Not easily found these days 🙏🏻
Thanks.
"We spend time on things that don't enrich our lives, but rather simply occupy our time"
You really hit the nail on the head there. Question for you: Do you ever allow yourself to continue working past a sprint? I find that once I'm in my groove, I tend to just keep working on a project until I'm forced to stop by another commitment / burnt out by it for the day.
I have. But I've been trying harder to just get up after 90 minutes. Mostly because If I sit too long my body/back ends up hurting later. I'm an old man. So my body is literally telling me to listen to it.
03:21 solidified me hitting the subscribe button! lol 🐶 thank you for this video!
🐕
"leisure is fuel." I love this. I'm going to put it on a t-shirt.
Do it!
This hits home. Feeling the same about my productivity and procrastination. Thanks for this
that production is superb 🔥
Thanks
The technique to be able to start, 5 min 30 min and so on
you have mentioned several times.
but is now really in a difficult moment as far as work flow is concerned.
I still struggling with longer time slots but for now I'm already happy that I'm doing something
and the first attempts to master it are going very well!
thank you very much.
You're welcome.
Congrats on the growth of that Brasil Philodendron though! the real mvp ;)
