Fun Fact: at the end of level 2 you can actually jump past the "capture" and activate the level end allowing you to skip level 3. Its used in speed running. You need either steroids or a jet pack. The bars only come up and capture you from a ground trigger. So just go over it. I don't know why but the level end is an actual level end button. It is a little finicky though. You have to hit it at an angle rather than straight on. They could have just made it a picture but they programed in an actual level end. @@gasabur2934 It is definitely a real button but it is a finicky button. You have to hit it at almost a 45 degree angle to get it to work. I tried my hand at speed running this game and always had trouble with this button but I guarantee it does work.....eventually.
Most video games that use hitscan can share the mantle of having the "best sniper pistol". I think my most used weapon in "modern" (haha) shooters were things like COD-4's m9, that pistol shot fast and was always accurate. Any gun that operates like that is an instant classic no matter the game.

Civvie's been a real one since day one on this channel. The overall quality of his channel either indicates previous experience, or a hell of a lot of notes taken before stepping up to the plate. Quickly one of my favorites. Never stop, you magnificent bastard.
Interesting piece of trivia: the CD version of Duke Nukem 3D came with all of the editing utilities that were used to put the game together. This included a level editor and a .art file editor that allowed you to edit the in-game graphics. ...A .art file editing program that had a detailed palette of skin-tones already built into it... Bundled with a game that already contained scantily-clad women. Yeah, the devs knew EXACTLY what they were doing with that one. I'll never forget the first time I logged into a local BBS and realized that the .art file I'd edited as a 13 year old and uploaded randomly one day after school (which included un-pastied boobs on the strippers, _among other things_ ) had somehow managed to spread across the entirety of the digital landscape of my city in the space of about a fortnight. Good times, man.
I was such a damn dork I actually bought a book that taught you how to use the level editor. Way too many summer days and nights spent making levels including a replica of the HQ from Men In Black. Ah good times.
I bought the Megaton Edition, didn't know it was pulled from Steam afterwards. I lost my original 1996 CD-ROM copy of DN3D so I feel lucky now. Can you elaborate on why it was pulled?
@@metanumia Once Gearbox obtained the rights to Duke. Randy decided to pull any other Duke releases from steam. So that he would be the only sole provider. and be the only way you could obtain the games legally. The sad part is. That his RE-release of Duke3D, though having a brand new episode. was a WORSE port. than Megaton. Worse audio and visuals to name a few. in short. The CEO wanted duke all to himself. and forced others to go through his company to get it and buy lesser versions.
I own both Megaton and World Tour on Steam, but find myself playing World Tour more often due to the real 3D rendering. They patched up the other major issues it had at launch, like Duke's original voice lines being weird.
12:40 Yes! I remember how exciting it was that the stages in Duke 3D looked like actual places from real life. In Doom they were just abstract labyrinths.
All pages probably have 1 sentence about what he did, like doing my mom. The book doesn’t have a foreword, index, glossary, dictionary, nothing, not even a cover; the front and back of the book is just the first and last reason why.
Fun fact: in Duke New-coom (the old platformer), he says in the intro that he'll still have time to go watch Oprah after he finishes with Proton. In DNF, the museum depiction of this "cutscene" shows him saying he'll still have time to go watch Lenoman. Prime example of the Mandela effect.
@gromaniak16 Judas Iscariot was the person who betrayed Jesus Christ and hate with Randy is because, 1, fuck up Duke Nukem, 2, fuck up Aliens Colonial Marines.
@gromaniak16 He's the face of Gearbox Software, like Todd Howard is to Bethesda, or Gabe Newell is to Valve. Because of that, all of the company's mistakes and shitty practices are his responsibility, at least in the eyes of the gaming community. However, that isn't to say the hate is unjustified as both Gearbox and he himself seem to have been working really hard to be as unlikable as possible. Duke Nukem Forever was a soulless, rushed flop that fans had been waiting for for 25 years, whereas Aliens: Colonial Marines was the most 2013 shooter of 2013, and had non-functioning AI caused by a single typo. As for their attitudes towards fans, Pitchford basically bounced back from the poor reception of DNF by moving on to flogging a shitty re-release of the original DN3d, while suing the developers of the eduke32 source port because it threatens sales. On a personal level, he allegedly misappropriated company funds totalling 12 million, and has a thing for "barely legal" porn and hosting parties where adults expose themselves to children, but that's neither here nor there. TLDR: Shitty business practices, carelessly rushed games from beloved franchises, and being an absolute creepshow, while being totally unapologetic about all three.
@Kyros Droztamyr jazz suffered because the graphics we're just way too big, you could barely see in front of you given the speed so it's difficult if you don't have the layouts memorized
I remember, being like 16 playing this with my friend and saying "this can't be a real game!" because it was so fucking badass. It was like everything a juvenile teenager thinks is awesome rolled into one amazing package. One thing after the other to blow your fucking mind! I still love it.
In Duke Nukem 64, you could save the babes by interacting with them - which I preferred as opposed to leaving them or killing them. This could be because of the Nintendo censorship they put on Duke 64, removing a ton of the sexual content if not all. What's weird is, Duke 64 is so much different from 3D when it comes to a lot of the levels. I'll never forget the "Good Morning, Clarice" easter egg in Death Row for example. Weapons and sounds were different and Dukebots existed, even if they sucked and would go fuck walls all the damn time. Pistol gained a new ammunition type called DumDum Bullets, Shotgun got Explosive Shells equal to a Rocket's damage and the Rocket itself? Heat-seeking missiles. Despite the removal of music, Duke Nukem 64 had its charm - its own reason to be played.
The rocket launcher replaced the devastator in DN64, the current rocket launcher was a grey-tinted shadow warrior grenade launcher instead. Explosions were also in 3D on the N64, creating copious amounts of lag. Oh and the freeze launcher was replaced by the plasma gun, which just phazed enemies out of existence.
@@redblack7578 I agree with you on that. The dual MP5's (I'm pretty sure they're that at least) sounded weird but had an amazing gameplay feedback and the fact that you could shoot corpses until they gibbed was very satisfying, even on Damn I'm Good which forces you to use explosives most of the time.. or a Commander's rockets.
Marathon also has tricks to make it feel like a real space too, though not as much as Duke 3D. And this was the same year as Doom 2: rooms over rooms were done simply by overlapping sectors over the lower floors and even though the upper ones had to be bigger, you could resize those sectors to whatever you wanted and so long as their polygon shapes remained convex the engine wouldn't care. Hotplate polygons (my name for hurt floors), mostly lava were usually animated in such a way as to look like real liquid, which Duke also did Vertical Mouselook Crosshairs (I don't know if the original Mac releases had them, but Aleph One certainly does) You could interact with computer terminals like the emails in Deus Ex and the audio logs in both the floppy disk and Enhanced versions of System Shock 1 (also the same year as Marathon) You had whole levels in vacuum, with the sourceport adding the ability to make only certain areas vacuum, courtesy of a script by Liacrow (Duke 3D had that too but never used it) The 5D space technology used by the RAR system above was rarely used for 5D environments ala Lunetic Fringe Branching level paths were included in the engine but unused because the branch points were the two escort missions, where you had to save crewmen with the worst friendly AI since vanilla Daikatana. You bet your ass modders took full advantage of the "Plank" system in their own WADs, like Eternal and Rubicon. You could grenade jump like in Quake before Quake's time and even before Rise of the Triad. The Grenade Climbing I mentioned in a one of your Doom videos as well as the "wall walking" jump extension trick is an evolved form of that and in low gravity areas, you could use the flamethrower as a jetpack like Duke Nukem 2. All sadly nerfed in the sequels, though wall walking still works somewhat. Wait, that's not a realism trick... Duel wielding weapons such as the starting pistol so unlike Doom, your pistol doesn't suck once you get the second one. Marathon 2 in 1995 added a couple of new things before Duke 3D did too, namely swimming in real liquids, which was available per polygon height with no invisible teleporters at the surface needed (I think Build did it that way?) and used the lighting engine to simulate flow and tide. Sadly, liquids were linked to texture sets so you could only have one per map, but the sourceport Aleph One removes that pesky limitation. Dual wielded super shotguns like in DUSK and the ability to punch with both fists instead of one. Ambient noise (but no music unlike Marathon 1 and the best mods, which is bullshit) Unique multiplayer modes besides classic deathmatch, such as Tag, King of the Hill and Oddball. Yes, Oddball debuted in Marathon. Marathon Infinity was the Doom 2 for Marathon so while it still kicked ass, it only added an SMG with a pathetically small magazine, too many vacuum levels, minor plot holes regarding changes to the level design during development and a consumer edition of the level Editor for the original Vulcan 2 engine, called Forge and a physics editor called Anvil. Aleph One uses Weland (a partially limit removing but ultimately inferior version of Forge, the latter due to a missing 3D texturing/height adjustment mode like modern Doom engine and Build editors have), ShapeFusion for physics and Atique for merging maps into WAD files (called .sceA). Most other Marathon fans call A1 wad files maps, after the term in the Forge manual, which is confusing as fuck.
Another to add on to the pile is that you can deal more damage with your fists with running momentum, meaning if you had enough space you could rip and tear incredibly quickly
@@gub4941 Indeed they did. I knew them for Halo like so many others, but I ended up playing Marathon before Doom because of them (though I'd seen my dad play it and Doom 3 before) though that was after Duke 3D.

When I was a child in the late 90s, playing my own custom map over LAN with my brother and friend, sometimes, very rarely, we would respawn (we were playing deathmatch) in this level. No idea what was up with that, was bewildering.
16:44 I can't overstate how much I love Duke's character. He's like if the absurdly macho protagonist from every 80's and 90's action movie and the ridiculously misogynistic actor who played him got into a teleporter accident like in the movie The Fly, and came out spouting stolen one-liners. Additionally, the fact that he shares a voice actor with Big the Cat from Sonic Adventure is one of the greatest gifts the gaming industry has ever given us.
@@BaconSenpai If you can't see that Duke Nukem of all characters, is satirizing the typical Hollywood womanizer, then that's on you. @@samuelcook1208 You didn't answer the question; what about Duke would indicate woman-hating? Tipping an excessive amount of strippers seems more like a sex addiction or something.
@@hoodedman6579 To put it simply, Duke is a womanizer. That's not debatable, ~90% of his personality is his obsession with "chicks" and "babes", and he only got more flanderized as the series went on. Anyone with such a one dimensional perception of / Interaction with women is by my standards a misogynyst. (Note: colloquially, a misogynist is not necessarily someone with a literal antipathy towards women, but rather someone with sexist and demeaning attitudes towards women.) John Carmack jokes are my favorite recurring joke on your show. Even if they're a net negative, remember this one fan of yours and it will all be worth it. Randy has so much more material though.
Shame we never got a Duke 3D redux.. There was so much content cut in levels because the computers of the time, simply could not run it. Most if not all levels was supposed to be way bigger and more complex than in the final game.
Carmack memes being a net negative to the show? Imposible. Granted, the reason I feel Romero and Carmack worked well together was they were the perfect combo of a pie in the sky artistic thinker and a grounded and deeply knowledgeable expert of his craft respectively.
A good amount of my adolescence which should have been spent awkwardly trying to talk to girls and having fun "outside" was spent playing and mapping for this game*. I didn't know about the apartment secret in the first level or the Faces of Death secret level. This is like if someone told me there was an after credits scene in The Goonies. I am incredibly upset. Great video as usual Civvie. *I was absolutely able to do room over room. It's possible, fuck what ya heard.
So, we can add "not being able to play the first installments of Duke Nukem" to the list of sins for which Randy Pitchford should be covered in tar and feathered in the public square. Anyway... I remember when Duke Nukem 3D came out. Me and my fellow pre-teen buddies spent quite a bit of time giving bills to the strippers in Red Light District. And Protozoid Slimers freaked me out. Those sounds they made still make me uneasy, and I'm 30 now.
The Hell happened to you Duke? Your games used to kick 69 different kinds of ass. Now...they just suck 69 kinds of ass. You used to be cool; you used to be my hero. Nowadays, I just take one long look at your final game and all I see is how much of a greesy bastard Randy Pitchford is. I'll always keep your games from Duke 1 to Manhattahn Project close to my heart and biceps, but as far as I'm concerned...long live the Duke.
I was thinking about that Doom easter egg in this game recently and it kinda makes me sad now how the two series went nowadays. Doom's back and better than ever and Duke... well let's not say any more words.
I feel like _Half-Life_ 's gameplay design owes much more to DN3D than it does _Quake_ , despite it using the latter's engine. That and _Marathon_ . Also, _The Abyss_ is my favourite map for being such a descent into insanity.
I hated "The Abyss", because I got lost so often. ;D But I agree -> Duke Nukem 3D is the precursor to Half-Life with it´s scripted explosions and environmental storytelling. Played it in Coop/Deathmatch LAN with my brother in 1997. Sooo much fun. Quake was more ...well...a "normal" shooter. But I liked it a bit more (in singleplayer). For me Quake was also above Doom. It had the best Soundtrack (and sounds) ever (thanks to Trent Reznor!).
@@eduardodiaz9942 Beside the fact that the engine powering games like _Half-Life_ , _Counter-Strike_ and _Team Fortress Classic_ is actually named GoldSrc (Source did not exist until _Half-Life 2_ in 2004) it and its successor Source are based on Id Tech 1.
Duke Nukem 3D was revolutionary in every conceivable way back then. We had never seen anything like it before. The level of interactivity with the levels, enemies and weapons was far ahead of it's time. It's why that, to this day, it's one of the greatest first person shooters of all time.
Holy shit I just notice something. Duke has the line about watching Oprah in DN1, then in the intro to DN2 he's being interviewed by Oprah when the aliens abduct him.
5:34 - Can we take a moment to just talk about how utterly stupid the Rigelatins' plan is? Duke is a badass, he's great at killing things, running into a room and systematically slaughtering everything inside until he's the last thing breathing. What Duke Nukem is _NOT_ is a strategist. Using Duke's brain to attempt to win a war against humanity will only have the effect of removing Earth's single best soldier from the equation, it will not help design any kind of coherent strategy aside from hitting on 'babes', consuming unhealthy amounts of alcohol, and spouting one liners. I love _Duke Nukem,_ I do - admittedly, I enjoy _Shadow Warrior_ more - but shit, man, the Rigelatins are either _DUMB_ or they didn't do enough research.

In Duke 3d (on the PC, at least), kicking with your Left foot was your backup weapon, whilst kicking with your Right foot was linked to a separate key and could be done whilst wielding a weapon. This allowed you to kick with both feet simultaneously, whilst standing still.
I remember the Shotgun in Duke3D has an interesting story with it. Back when 3D realms would be pretty active with the public by releasing early demo and shareware to the public in BBS boards (for free unlike today early access bullshit), they asked the fans if they want a shotgun in the game and everyone said "Yea", then they got a shotgun in the game. Also the shotgun that Duke used is actually modeled after George Broussard own personal shotgun he owned.
mfw someone finally covered the Duke Nukem deeplore that everyone forgets Thanks so much Civvie, it's been years of me waiting for someone to make the connection of Shrapnel City, and that the beginning of DN3D is literally him returning from being abducted in DN2.
9:09 Teleporters on staircases? Nope... wrong, wrong, wrong! The build engine was unique in the sense that multiple 3D volumes could occupy the same location in 2D space, as long as no two overlapping volumes were visible at the same time. The staircases were made using lots of segments spiralling around a central pillar. Because of the width of the pillar you'd never see the two stairs that were overlapping each other in the 2D map. Not even the Doom or Quake engine could do this. Truly amazing, and I'm disappointed you didn't credit the build engine for this.

Not even close. At least with Howard we got New Vegas, as well as Fallout 3 which is fine an Fallout 4 which has its moments here and there plus it's fun to mod. What did we get with Randy? Forever??
@@huxleyable I was just referencing how both of them ruined their respective series. Randy is most definitely worse but both of them ruined their franchises
Not even close. At least Bethesda Game Studios's main problem is that they're overly enthusiastic on experimentation with their games and they achieve this with mixed results like no actual NPCs in Fallout 76 or the dialogue choices in Fallout 4 and they often leave RPG stats out in their modern games, to the point where Fallout 4 is a glorified Shooter. Based on feedback on Wastelanders, they do seem to understand how to make a Fallout game as Fallout 76 Wastelanders is the most Fallout game since New Vegas. What I'm getting at is that BSG's treatment on Fallout is no where near as bad as Gearbox's treatment on Duke Nukem. A better example would be Peter Molyneux with the Fable franchise because his direction with the main games killed any potential that they could've had while shitcanning Lionhead Studios and then fucking off to make Godus.
Never Knowing Isn't Blake Stone a shooter on the Wolf 3D engine? That doesn't really work, especially as Civvie said DN1 is better than _Commander Keen,_ which it is. I've not played Blake Stone so I can't judge if it's better than Wolf 3D, but Classic Rise of the Triad and Pathways into Darkness both definitely are, for different reasons. And the remake of ROTT is better than Classic.
It is, sadly, it got overshadowed by Doom 1, which came like a week later. This doesn't mean Wolf 3D is bad, its all just part of an evolution process.
Surprised Civvie didn't care for Duke Nukem 3D's shotgun all that much. To this day, it's my favorite shotgun in a game due to its godly gunshot sound effect and its absurdly long range. Try loading up Memorial Service in Duke it out in DC and go skeet shooting with the assault troopers sometime. You can't do that in any other FPS game.
True, but it feels like it's more powerful in the hands of pig cops and just a personal opinion but the Super shotgun from Doom 2 is a wall of damage and sounds so satisfying.
Here here! I spent more time in the editor than I did playing the game. That's what I really loved the most about that game, and it depresses me that games don't just include one anymore.
It's odd cuz the GAMES are dead but Duke? Nah, he's more popular than ever with a new shiny coat of fan made wholesomeness and ambiguous sexual energy. I give it a matter of time before we get a Wholesome Duke game.
I first found your channel when i was really sick and i binge watched every upload. Now i feel nostalgicly sick whenever i watch new uploads. Good shit civvie, im just here waiting for an alien trilogy vid.
Great stuff, Civvie! Little piece of nerd info: The captains DO NOT teleport. Why is everbody saying that? IF they did, then why does it always take a couple of seconds until they reappear? What they do is, they phase out, becoming invisible and immaterial. In that state, they try to get behind the player to shoot him in the back. Stand with your back to next wall, so they will be force to reappear in front of you.
Hey Civvie, found your channel by happenstance and ended up binge watching every video. It was because of you I even ended up downloading Blood and holy shit it lives up to the hype you gave it. Just wanted to say thanks and can't wait for future videos.
Most satisfying moment at the end of level 2: lining the nuke button wall with all the pipe bombs you got, then press the button after they've pinned you. I do this on every run.
i feel that it's like when people are asked to draw a bicycle and they end up drawing something that would never function. i think you gotta use some references to make believable renditions of real life things.
I've always had this theory in my head from my first play through as a kid, only having the demo of the first few levels. Duke Nukem isn't a hero out to save the planet. He's a muss-murdering psychopath that thinks there's an alien invasion, but he's really just killing innocent people, cops, and soldiers that his hallucinations make him think are aliens. Think about it: why would aliens be interested in human porn? Why would he find aliens living in human apartments during an ongoing invasion? Why would an invading enemy army bother with trapping, arresting, imprisoning, and executing via electric chair an enemy combatant? Why do they send him to a human prison? Why is the execution chamber full of witnesses to the execution, as if it were an actual criminal execution? Why are the jail cells in the prison full of other aliens? Why are some of those aliens trying to dig their way out of a cell with improvised explosives? And why does Nukem blame the destruction of the submarine on enemy action, when he's the one that hits the Self Destruct switch?
15:02 “This fine lady of the night” This is rather strange. This girl looks to be modeled after Jill Valentine’s RE3 costume, but that game came a year after Duke 3D if I recall correctly.

Just a good moment to post this comment!
Arguably Judas is better, since he quickly came to regret his decision, and he was chosen to betray Christ. Whereas Randy gleefully screws people over
@gromaniak16 Judas Iscariot was the person who betrayed Jesus Christ and hate with Randy is because, 1, fuck up Duke Nukem, 2, fuck up Aliens Colonial Marines.

Oh yeah. I almost forgot about that Plasma Gun. I found the charge attack mildly satisfying, very Duke-Nukey.
And on the 64 version he had 2 smg's instead of the 3 barreled gun you get on the pc wich i liked more

Hotplate polygons (my name for hurt floors), mostly lava were usually animated in such a way as to look like real liquid, which Duke also did
Vertical Mouselook
Crosshairs (I don't know if the original Mac releases had them, but Aleph One certainly does)
You could interact with computer terminals like the emails in Deus Ex and the audio logs in both the floppy disk and Enhanced versions of System Shock 1 (also the same year as Marathon)
You had whole levels in vacuum, with the sourceport adding the ability to make only certain areas vacuum, courtesy of a script by Liacrow (Duke 3D had that too but never used it)
The 5D space technology used by the RAR system above was rarely used for 5D environments ala Lunetic Fringe
Branching level paths were included in the engine but unused because the branch points were the two escort missions, where you had to save crewmen with the worst friendly AI since vanilla Daikatana.
Ambient noise (but no music unlike Marathon 1 and the best mods, which is bullshit)
Unique multiplayer modes besides classic deathmatch, such as Tag, King of the Hill and Oddball.
Lion O Cyborg bungie did god’s work before Activision turned them into the destiny factory
Marathon was seriously ahead of its time, and deeply underrated
Ever thought on doing videos to showcase these nifty tricks?

The build engine was unique in the sense that multiple 3D volumes could occupy the same location in 2D space, as long as no two overlapping volumes were visible at the same time.
The staircases were made using lots of segments spiralling around a central pillar. Because of the width of the pillar you'd never see the two stairs that were overlapping each other in the 2D map.
Not even the Doom or Quake engine could do this. Truly amazing, and I'm disappointed you didn't credit the build engine for this.
15:01 I see where Capcom got their idea for Jill Valentine's look in Resident Evil 3
That's what I was thinking
Ahh...50k subs. I remember when Civvie was at a mere 5k. Just a few months ago.
Where has the time gone?
Better question, where did you all come from holy shit!
I came half a year ago when I discovered his pro postal and pro shadow warrior series, then I watched the rest.
@@asterixobelix20 I got Pro Postal Tuesday (the original upload, which was removed and reuploaded due to audio issues) in my recommended one day. (Think it was a day or two after it was uploaded.) Loved it, so I subscribed to him.
Last year at august , I think , I saw his video about the "Defenders of faith " which he explains what kind of shooter he reffered as true oldschool fps . And man , he spoke those aspects which I said since a long time ago about oldschool fps . And from there I was his fan till he bashed Randy Bitchfart .... Now Im a much bigger fan of his channel !
Probably searching for postal 2 vids. I don't remember how I found the channel honestly.
UA-cam recommended the Doom movie review. Been a fan ever since.
Idk what it is, but all your videos are highly rewatchable
Randy is to Duke Nukem what Todd Howard is to Fallout.
No, Todd Howard is wrongly accused and is the personal meme scapegoat of Pete Hines, Randy deserves the scorn he gets.
A better example would be Peter Molyneux with the Fable franchise because his direction with the main games killed any potential that they could've had while shitcanning Lionhead Studios and then fucking off to make Godus.
huxleyable Howard wasnt responsible for new vegas tho, right? Swear that game wasnt a bethesda title
I love how he just brushes past the fact that duke had an explosive molar in his mouth
"... and Blake Stone is better than Wolfenstein 3D."
whoa whoa WHOAAA there big shooter, pump the brakes
Never Knowing Isn't Blake Stone a shooter on the Wolf 3D engine? That doesn't really work, especially as Civvie said DN1 is better than _Commander Keen,_ which it is. I've not played Blake Stone so I can't judge if it's better than Wolf 3D, but Classic Rise of the Triad and Pathways into Darkness both definitely are, for different reasons. And the remake of ROTT is better than Classic.
Blake Stone IS better than Wolf 3D. If you disagree, you’re letting nostalgia blind you.
Never Knowing Blake Stone isn’t a fucking platformer. It’s a FPS that uses the Wolf 3D engine you fucking moron.
Yeah I would fight Civvie if he made that statement right to my face
@@kylehyde215CA Super Shotgun has trash range tho.
@deadrock
Nobody said it has a good range of fire.
I really wanted to see you reach 50k, and this episode is one of my favorites! I really enjoy your videos and hope you keep on growing.
Duke3D is brilliant on its own, but the map editor makes it pure gold: nothing better than crafting your own little levels for this game.
Here here! I spent more time in the editor than I did playing the game. That's what I really loved the most about that game, and it depresses me that games don't just include one anymore.
its sadly ironic how duke makes a joke about doom marine yet his franchise is pretty much dead... THANKS RANDY!
@Michael Maxwell A joke that retroactively aged well
Stix N' Stones I think just calling the game “Eternal” is a roast of Forever all on its own.
It's odd cuz the GAMES are dead but Duke?
Nah, he's more popular than ever with a new shiny coat of fan made wholesomeness and ambiguous sexual energy.
I give it a matter of time before we get a Wholesome Duke game.
@@zigfaust There seems to be a movie staring John Cena being made
@@jackkingsby116 It seems still ambigious but this is the ONLY time I agree that Michael Bay is the best director for the project.
This video was the reason I got back into the build engine and did let's plays for this. Thanks so much for the great content!
I first found your channel when i was really sick and i binge watched every upload. Now i feel nostalgicly sick whenever i watch new uploads. Good shit civvie, im just here waiting for an alien trilogy vid.
2:13 A reference to Akira and trash talk on Rob Liefeld? Holy father, thy name be Civvie.
Stand with your back to next wall, so they will be force to reappear in front of you.
tis a fake teleport. pretty sure the manual says they teleport but yeah i've seen some glitch where i can actually still see them.
Seeing all the Trailer Park Boys clips of bubbles saying somethings greasy brings me closer and closer to peace
I love how much shit you give Randy. It rivals that of Jim Sterling. Keep up the awesome shit man!
The Abyss has an awkward layout, sure, but the theme of that level is awesome, and really gives you the impression of descending into an alien lair.
yeah ive always really digged the sounds in that level
or the depths of hell.
Major Stryker looks like the trucker that groped me in a rest stop bathroom off the Jersey turnpike. Nice guy.
So "PRO (BLAKE) STONE" when, Civvie? :V
>w>; Most certainly after Pro-ROTT!
@@KyosukeShigeru fuck, I'd forgotten about Rise of the Triad.
Have a thumb.
... It took me almost 20 years to realize that yes, there was the cash register secret in the first level ...
Hey Civvie, found your channel by happenstance and ended up binge watching every video. It was because of you I even ended up downloading Blood and holy shit it lives up to the hype you gave it. Just wanted to say thanks and can't wait for future videos.
I just found this channel last night. OMG. Why didn't I know about this sooner? Your videos are awesome.
"The only time i use it is wen i press H instead of J" that really got me dude, lol
I seriously thought you had more, just due to the quality of content. You'll get there soon my dude
Most satisfying moment at the end of level 2: lining the nuke button wall with all the pipe bombs you got, then press the button after they've pinned you. I do this on every run.
I played Duke 3D for the first time after watching this video.
I get why you'd wait 15 years for that sequel.
Every fan made city level looks miles better than the ones actually in Doom 2.
Actually looking like a city helps.
i feel that it's like when people are asked to draw a bicycle and they end up drawing something that would never function. i think you gotta use some references to make believable renditions of real life things.
15:00 the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. I don't know how I understood that as a kid.
"It's like Rob Liefeld drew the end of Akira"
right down to the lack of feet
And he finds a dead Doom space marine because it was violent video games that made him go nuts!
@@Assimandeli lol nice one
Hahaha damn you made my day
15:02 “This fine lady of the night”
This is rather strange. This girl looks to be modeled after Jill Valentine’s RE3 costume, but that game came a year after Duke 3D if I recall correctly.
5:14 He cooked Randy Pitch"fork" 🤣🤣🤣
His real name is Randall Bitchlord
Oh, hey, I've got a version of Duke Nukem 2, It came on a CD from an issue of PC Gamer, where they talked about the 100 greatest games of all time.
Knew it! I knew a video was about to drop because the channel was being screwy.
Anyways, I'm waiting patiently Pro Doom 2. Favorite game of all time. Shut up I'm biased.
I only wish the city maps were like dn3d
@@napalmkitty6686 A fair criticism.
@@noahvadertheberserkerpacki6604 the super shotgun more than makes up for any short coming
I really hope he'll someday do the Shadow Warrior remake games, those are my favorites, especially 1. I love the original Shadow warrior too (And Duke 3d, and Blood, and Quake and Doom, and even the other dumber titles, like Redneck rampage), but the rework. Ahh I love that game with a passion.
"Damn, those Gearbox bastards are gonna pay for shooting up my franchise"
Its 2019 and i still cannot find a better game than DN3d
