Very helpful, thanks.
freat video , really helpful ...thanks
This video came at an excellent time for me. I just finished my cabinet this weekend and was having a lot of trouble getting the trackball to work. I'm sure there are other videos out there that show the step, but this was the first one I've watched that showed exactly where I needed to go in the menu to get it set up correctly (12:30 in the video). After I did that, it works great. Thank you!
Thank you for your message, enjoy your new cabinet! 🕹
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades will the ultimarc work on raspberry pi 4. is this plug and play or do I need a additional controller board. It does have a small board connected with a USB connection
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades I bought the ultimarc. but I'm having trouble setting it up with the raspberry pi 4 .no matter what I do I can't get it to work I even ordered it with a direct USB connection for simplicity. complete newbie here. do you have any ideas. ? thank you
Thanks for the video! you have inspired me to build my own cab (pedestal actually). Because I want to use the ultimarch ipac2 in xinput mode, do you know if I will be able to use the trackball connected directly into the encoder? Or will I need to connect via the USB adapter. Thanks in advance (and will gladly take any advice on if using xinput makes sense, I was planning on purchasing creative arcades external hardrive for launchbox/hyperspin that is configured for use with xinput)
Hi, In X-INPUT mode, you will NOT have the possibility for trackball/mouse and or RGB lights.. so I would not recommend that...
On 5:40 is the MDF board is 3/4 of an inch thick.
At 12:08 what's happening with the 5 inch screen when you display games.
Great video!
Was the panel here 3/4”? I’m purchasing this trackball but my CP is 1/2”. Will the trackball sit flush if my board is 1/2”?
Hi, Yes the panel was 19mm thickness. You should use some washers to adjust the height I think with a 1/2 inch panel. Have fun with your project, thanks Daniel
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades thank you!!!
I also have the U-Trak with USB and the IPac Ultimate. Can you explain your thinking behind not using the USB interface for the trackball and using the IPac instead. Thanks for all your excellent videos Daniel.
I can explain for myself. I built a very complex control panel with a lot of different parts. I decided to use the IPAC to free up USB ports for my other items. But then I have two trackballs, two spinners, two flight sticks, and rotary upgrades for the joysticks.
@@WeirdVideoGames Thanks for the info, that's helpful to know.
I'm using an IPAC4 and an ultimarc trackball. If I wanted to add a couple buttons on my control panel as "Mouse Lef" and "Mouse Right" what's the best way to do that? Thanks
On a Ipac 4 there are two ways. In the WinIpac software just choose two ports and change them from Keyboard mode to Mouse mode. Select mouse buttons 1 & 2 and force re-config board. Done. Other option is to use the two outputs of the USB interface of the Trackball. They work without any additional installation. On the Ultimarc website is a diagram which wire is for which mouse button. Thanks, Daniël
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades Thanks
Hi there, I'd love to get RGB pcb, but i don't have PACLED: is there a way power it and to modify colours without it? And how do you connect mouse buttons to IPAC 2 ? Thanks
No you need a Pacled board or the Ultimate IO Ipac from Ultimarc to use the RGB buttons. Mouse buttons can be emulated on any free input on the Ipac2. Just choose MOUSE in WinIpac software for that port.
Hi - im all installed but while works well in Mame the trackball creates freespin in the Hypersin menu - i would rather not have the trackball as a controller in Hyperspin but if i deselect it in HyperHQ....it doesnt work in Mame! how can i either fix the trackball for hyperspin or turn it off in main menu but leave on for Mame? Many thanks
Hi, Turn the trackball off in HyperHQ and go inside Mame. Press TAB key and configure Player 1 inputs. I think that Mame expect your trackball to be MOUSE 1 and that your trackball is infact MOUSE 2 or 3. Hope this helps? Thanks, Daniel
Hello, thank you for the video, did you CNC your control board and if so is there any chance you would share the cut files with me?
Hi, yes I cut the board with CNC. You can send me an email for files or custom orders. Thanks, Daniel
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades It's Brikeibur@gmail.com, I have a CNC, just looking for a place to start in terms of design. If you would share your files I would greatly appreciate it.
@@brikeibur123 did you ever get the files mate ? i would like to make a similar control panel
@@robhancock2240 I did not, still working on my arcade too.
@@brikeibur123 i purchased his file set and worth every penny :-)
What buttons are you using for your mouse buttons on this panel?
24mm led buttons. I think Sanwa makes them :-)
is that hyperspin intro video available anywhere for download?
I think you can just find it on Google "Hyperspin Intro Video's"
hello sorry for silly question what frontend do you use?
Hyperspin 😃
Would the RGB led board plug into one of my LED usb encoders? Thanks!
Hi, Yes if you have a Ultimarc PacLED or Ultimate IO board. You can plug the pcb right in! Thanks, Daniel
Where does GND get plugged in?
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades does this work with the sold white trakball?
@@asadrian3 am wondering the same thing... did you ever figure this out?
@@asadrian3 Did you ever get your answer to this? I have the RGB and yellow + cable plugged in, but am clueless to where the ground gets plugged in. The only one I see is used up by the button wire harness for players 1/2.
I'm suddenly having a bit of trouble with my Ultimarc trackball, as it sometimes won't move vertically/up or down all of a sudden? Any idea as to why that's the case, and would simply replacing the sensor boards possibly fix that issue by any chance?
How is it connected? via USB or via Ipac? Did you check the cables? Loose cable maybe? otherwise RMA it :-)
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades I contacted the company, and they think it may be the sensor board going bad. I ordered that to see if it'll hopefully fix the problem. Hope no soldering of any kind is required to replace them though.
Did you connect the led for the trackball directly to the io board
Yes 👍🏼
Would you happen to know if the ULTIMARC TRACKBALL would work with a 60 in 1 ICADE board?
Sorry, I don't know that. You can askl Andy from Ultimarc that!
I figured it out and the answer is yes Icade shows a pin out in there lil booklet and Ultimarc shows the pin out on the web page for the Trackball had to order some Dupont jumper wire worked out well, great video @@TheDanielSpies_Arcades
Love these videos, but this video lacked the one thing I needed - the actual non-usb connection to the I-pac ultimate. Plus, a lot of us use Raspberry Pi, not windows...
Hi, I understand! To use the Trackball with the Ultimate board, just connect the two cables in the board as labeled. Windows will recognize it as a mouse. As for the Raspberry Pi, I can try to make a special Pi tutorial incl RGB commander software later? Thanks Daniel
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades Thanks, Daniel. That's ok. I decided to switch over to a windows-based system because there seems to be a richer set of tutorials and videos for it. Also, I've been told that the version of MAME in RetroPi is almost 20 years old. Keep up the good work - love your videos! Now if I could only find a decent video on making a cool side-lit etched control panel... :)
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades hi I purchased the led light kit .and the very small circuit control board. I'm not sure how to wire it up . looks like the four pin connector plugs into the board . but I'm left with the black ground . where am I connecting that to. and do I need an additional board .thank you
@@danpettis1675 Hi Dan, here is a picture: images.app.goo.gl/s2AUveNQwvGv2oWUA
Just follow the colors and you will be fine 👍🏽
You don't by chance have a video or know of a video for the ultimarc j-stik joystick with the ultimarc Ikari 12 way rotary upgrade?? It's the upgrade to play games like ikari warriors, commando, time soldiers etc.
Hi, Not yet. I might try them in a future build for sure!
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades Thank you. I bought the j-stik with the 12 way rotary upgrade I can get the j- stick to work fine but I can't get the 12 way to work. It maybe because I am trying to use it with a raspberry pi 4 and not a PC. But I'm not sure. Thank you again. Can't wait for the video if you do one. 🙂
I was trying to find video on the exact same thing. I aim to build a cabinet soon and I definitely want Ikari Warriors. I know there's the hack version where the characters just face front, back and side to side. It works, but it's not the same.
I have retroarch (launchbox/bigbox). How do i set up my ultimarc trackball? I got the computer to recognize the mouse and i can move the trackball around. Same in retroarch, the trackball moves around like a mouse, but i dont know how to get it to work in games. PLEASE HELP!
If you are using Mame emulator, press TAB and go to player 1 controls. Then go to trackball X / Y, press enter, move the trackball and mame will recognize it. Let me know if it worked!
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades I unfortunately am not using the mame emulator. Just retroarch. When I setup launchbox, it only gave me retroarch and not mame. Is there a way to setup the trackball using just retroarch? By the way I really enjoy your videos! You have helped me tremendously with setting up my new complete custom built 4 player mega arcade cabinet eith 40" tv which I hope to post a video about my journey pretty soon!
@@chevyspeed6368 RETROARCH just organizes the emulators. if you are still needing help, hook up a keyboard and hit TAB while you are in an arcade game and see if this menu pops up like normal. If it were me, and only playing arcade games I would re-import my set for mame OR post on the LB forums for help to convert. Good luck!
How do I add the mouse buttons for my trackball
Easy! Just use normal buttons and remap them as Mouse Left / Mouse right in WinIpac. Email me if you are having any problems with this 👍🏼
I'm a native English speaker and I didn't know the name for those expanding brass inserts.
Why didn’t you show the part where you hook up the trackball?
Hooking up varies for each cabinet, USB / Ipac etc etc
How thick was the control panel board you used?
18 mm and extra 3 mm for the plexiglass
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades Will the trackball be flush if I use a 1/2” thick control panel? If not how could I make it flush?
@@myfartsotart3191 shim it.
@@myfartsotart3191 That is always the most tricky part to get right. In your case you sould use some washers to lower the trackball a bit I suspect. Have fun building!
