Getting a kill by truly fooling an enemy who KNOWS you're there is even more satisfying than trickstabs (most of the time at least), and this knife plays into that so well. I love seeing videos that cover it and how epic and cool it is, especially videos like this that're edited and organized so well :)

The YER is actually my favorite knife as Spy. I tought it was used often but no, and i was kinda surprised by that. This knife is the only weapon that make you feel like a real spy. Backstab someone, take his disguise and use your acting skill for as long as possible before getting caught. Amazing video and amazing editing ! :)
honestly, my favorite way to use it is annoying engies who think their sentry will kill me as soon as i kill them, jokes on you, i am now you and can sapper your sentrie nest in peace

I just found this video because of the interesting title (I thought it's gonna be Aladdin jokes or something) and I'm blown away. Not only is this video informative and full of good visuals, the language is also astonishing and professional!! I mean, WOW
7 mins in and cant get started on just how fun this video is to watch of the editing and greatly picked and placed music. 10/10, no one can come close to this level of quality for gaming related videos
I never really comment on YT but this video was so well edited, the script was so tight, every gag was so solid, that I just had to give you glowing praise. Amazing video :D
So, as weirdly specific as it is, this knife is actually what got me into TF2. I was browsing the GMod workshop one night, saw the YER in it, and thought, "Hey, that's a damn cool looking knife." I checked what game it's from and found it's from TF2, which I got into and has been a significant part of the last 12+ years of my life. I've pretty much exclusively used this thing whenever I play Spy, at least until Jungle Inferno. I'd really love to see it go back to the way it used to be, but even if it doesn't, it'll always hold a special place in my heart and at the bare minimum be the coolest looking spy knife in my opinion.
Amazing video, I always loved the YER especially back when I was a kid first playing TF2. I think a neat buff to the YER that you didn't mention would be the ability to move at Spy base speed at will in slower disguises by pressing down a button. It'd help players adapt more and push the acting idea of the weapon I think.
12:40 and this is where CND becomes your hero. One of the last things people expect is for the recently found out spy to hug a wall while using CND. The amount of times I've missed a YER stab, cloaked in a sneaky spot, redisguised and immediately walked back out undetected is insane.
I just saw your vídeo tittle and immediately used the knife in while playing spy, i loved it because it forced me to back stab my enemies and actively cloak myself fastely just to get a stab so i was always hiding and stabbing when i could
All your videos are always quality, yet I'm still especially amazed by your audio work every singe time. Like, I could probably fit the amount of UA-camrs I know that create their own soundtracks to their videos on one hand, and one of those people makes them for videos on a nearly 16 year old FPS and I love it.
I'm glad you talked about how the instant disguise always puts you as the right class to be in. I have never been healed (and even ubered) as much by enemy medics while disguised as I have been while using this knife. It's my go-to knife for this reason alone
The production quality of this video is amazing! I love how you timed the title text with the piano jig. Lots of small, exquisite details like this. Bravo.
The Your Eternal Reward is one of the best knives that I've seen in TF2. Even though I never played it before, I have a feeling that people who main our loveable Frenchman knows the tricks of acting as the one of the nine mercenaries. Can unlock it's true potential, even if it's post jungle inferno. It can also be an interesting knife to see in live action movies that takes place in the 1900's as well
What a great video, about the most satisfying of unlocks spy ever had! It's my personal go-to knofe every time i play spy, and it didn't fail me once where other knives would have failed me. Such a greatly designed weapon! BUT! I want to point out that you, while talking about an underrated weapon, still did underrate one of very interesting ways of playing with it - the cloak and dagger. In my experience, you do always feel the increased cloak drain when you run around. But cloak and dagger allows for some interesting plays with the tricks it has in it's sleeve: 1) You can very effectively negate the cloak drain rate by moving in crouch position. I know that it sounds bad to consciously reduce your own movement speed, but it's actually a decent way to relocate yourself while you have a very little cloak left. Crouch walking can let you stay about 4x more time in cloak, and in result you will increase your maximum distance of cloak walk more than twice, meaning that your cloak drain per distance will be more than halved. Of course it's slow, but switching between crouch walk and regular walk will let you maximize your cloak time and will let you relocate yourself even if you just redisguised with all the cloak and dagger invis meter. I found it extremely useful! 2) Second and i think the most important upside of cloak and dagger is that you can basically freely choose your "insertion point". What i mean is that you will always be able to crouch walk towards your chosen position (not when you are just walking from your base, but when you are already inside hostile location, where you will have much shorter distances to traverse) and then disguise as whatever class will get you the easiest way to safely infiltrate in enemy lines. For example, it's a good way to infiltrate to some very choked maps like Dustbowl, since you can dynamically switch your disguise right before coming in, and make your appearance even more believable, all while still staying invisible due to cloak and dagger. If enemy team have many snipers, you can go as another one from their backlines, if they have a bunch of demos pr soldiers you can appear closer to frontline, and etc. I find this way of going in very complementary with YER's actual gameplay, where you are expected to think-out your behaviour and make it as close to your disguise's typical behaviour in small details as possible, while default cloak leaves you playing roulette of whether your disguise and act will fit in enemy team composition. Cloak and dagger just gives you more flexibility than stock watch, you *can* wait for your cloak to regenerate while being safe and invisible, you *can* get more milage out of your cloak by crouching, you *can* switch up your disguise safely, but you pay for that with big chunk of your cloak time and with reduced ammo cloak restoration. I think it's very balanced, and actually worth it to try using cloak and dagger with YER.
YER has been my favorite for a long time, its best moments is when someone watches you backstab someone but they dont understand and leave their back open to you
the funniest thing is if you use the yer, backstab somebody, and then turn around, any player that turns around seeing you do the same just totally forgets about your existence? idk why but it always works
i don't know if everyone suddenly agreeded to use the YER and make content about it but i'm loving it, as a stealth games aficionado i love the fact that you can really go under the radar with this knife
i wonder if playing TF2 right after playing dishonored would make me better at spy. in either case you are practically invisible should you be at a slightly elevated position
Makes me so happy to see another video on this knife! I've loved how the YER makes you play Spy since I first started TF2, and while I'm upset about the added cloak drain downside, I still find the YER to be my default pick when playing Spy. It's an extremely effective and underrated weapon choice, and you're one of the first people to elaborate on how it requires a decent knowledge on using disguises which is one of my favorite parts of its playstyle and your video!
6:03 I've heard that in real life a person who gets stabbed in the back doesn't emit a howl of agony, a fact that I learned from the BTS of the Lord of the Rings films. Peter Jackson originally wanted Saruman to let out a howl of agony when Wormtongue did his best Spy impression on him, but Sir Christopher Lee responded to that by describing what a person's actual reaction to getting backstabbed is --- a behavior he learned from employing such tactics during World War II. So if this balance change were employed, it would actually make TF2 closer to real life, as well as alter the dynamics of how Spy plays.
if i could rework this knife i would bring the +33% cloak drain down to only +20% to be slightly less punishing and add some gimmick mechanic on top of the pre-existing stats that allow the player to stack kills like the eyelander, but instead of gaining health and move speed like the demoman the spy would gain bonus resistance/move speed when cloaked for each backstab he gets. As the name of the weapon suggest its 'your eternal reward'
one time a disguise actually saved my life I disguised as a friendly pyro while aggressively charging another enemy spy then I got a sick ambassador head shot on him
your visuals are amazing man, many of the frames in this video could be turned into a wallpaper or a picture or painting that could be hung to a wall, good job
Hello! I saw that video and i crafted myself YER. I have 40+ hours in tf2 and im trying to play spy more than other classes. Im using this weapon with normal watch and normal revolver. By far i like it! After i do 1 backstab with that weapon, im getting a good opportunity to have a lot of kills, by acting like enemy`s teamate. Thanks for making this video!
Fk we see all 3 aspects of disguises IN THE MEET THE SPY VIDEO Location: ofc the fastest guy would get to the intelligence room first Movement: he interacts with the room with confidence like he was there before Details: scout is a bit of an idiot who doesn’t pay attention but is boisterous and hot headed ofc a guy like that would forget a door code but confident enough to try the knife trick but be too dumb to do it, and obviously his reaction to “your mother” was absolutely masterful
Hey! I’ve never been a huge tf2 fan, but this video is top notch. Held my attention the whole way through. The editing, scripts, sound effects, jokes, and everything else were fantastic. Massive props my dude.
been playing spy for the better part of 7 years or so and finally a video that summarizes what you actually 'do' to make your disguises convincing. very well put together video and you've convinced me to try out the YER.
In my last comment I mentioned I’ve never been a huge tf2 fan. Good news! This channel has helped me become a tf2 fan, and i main spy now. I actually get kills as well! Thanks hintshot, have a good day.
I doubt you'll see this HintShot, but I might as well try to express what I think. Personally, I believe you're one of the best UA-camrs in the TF2 scene that covers Spy content. You don't try to go for flashy trickstabs all the time, nor constantly use the "meta" loadout of the L'Etranger, Kunai, and Ringer. You play to your strengths and play the Spy as intended; a somewhat-powerful pick-oriented class that needs mind games, quick thinking, and a calm mind to perform well. You obviously spend hours upon hours on whatever you create and it's always astonishing. Thanks for all the content and amazing Spy gameplay. Despite my five years playing TF2 with most on Spy, I aspire you reach the level of class and skill you depict in these games. Cheers.
@@HintShot Wasn't expecting this! Of course, it's an honor. Keep gettin' those stabs and don't forget it's fine to take bits away to recharge those backstab batteries. Best of luck and perhaps we'll see each other in game by chance. :)
Why is no one talking about that insanely animated intro?! That was so cool! Also it is nice to see other people think that the YER is not as bad as it put out to be.
I'm a newer player but when I saw this knife for spy 3 months ago I bought it and I can't stop using it. Now I have 47 hours on spy and love running the diamondback default invisible watch and the your eternal reward.
Honestly, i pair it with the cloak and dagger to surprising effectiveness. Theres rarely a hiding place more than 5 seconds away, and usually if there is, youre already dead by the time you reach it
as a heavy main,i tried using the YER,and now ive realized how easily you can backstab someone. now i have 2nd stage anxiety and i keep rotating 180 degrees
I really love the design and idea of the YER but have a really hard time actually using it because I rely really hard on using my invisibility to position myself and wait for an opportunity.
5:17 If you get stabbed by your eternal reward and your team doesnt notice you might not be able to say it beacuse "Voice communication is not avialable on this account"
Beautiful video, and with excellent commentary and explaining. I love the quality and happy to wait for your next! Don't burn yourself out and stay awesome!
I’ve had this idea lurking around my head on how to switch up the YER a bit: On backstab, if you’re covered in any fire, Jarate, milk, etc, it will be removed from you when disguised. This will only work for the knife however, so regular disguise will still have the effect on you. I do agree with removing the drain 100%. I love customizing my loadouts for any class! (I’m looking at you, Crossbow-Übersaw Medic)
This is probably one of my favorite weapon reviews. Def top 2 maybe 1. I love the editing, subtle jokes here and there, the self made music and choreography, the review itself, this review is just perfect in my humble opinion.
@@HintShot I mean it, dude! Especially the music was a great listen. I listen to Eternal and Reward a lot on Spotify since I'm a sucker for good piano music. Keep it up, man! You're amazing! :)

thats would be sickk, if this knife had all the silence in the world then it be a force to be reckoned with for sure!
The production value on this video is off the charts! How many hours of sleep did you give up for those animations??
Too many (crying emoji)

The YER is actually my favorite knife as Spy. I tought it was used often but no, and i was kinda surprised by that. This knife is the only weapon that make you feel like a real spy. Backstab someone, take his disguise and use your acting skill for as long as possible before getting caught.
Amazing video and amazing editing ! :)
honestly, my favorite way to use it is annoying engies who think their sentry will kill me as soon as i kill them, jokes on you, i am now you and can sapper your sentrie nest in peace
@@StabbyTheSkaven That's also why it's so good. You can kill anybody without the sentry noticing it.
I share the same thoughts.
As an engi i despise u all lol
This whole video is great but I gotta say, that little SFM intro chainstab sequence combined with your music was fuckin SMOOTH
8:41 the medic is still healing you when you stabbed that sniper in the back lmao

This is such a high quality, well edited, and informational video. Damn, you're gonna blow up, like, soon! Like, almost right now, even! Please remember me and all your other subs in the under 50K subs club when you do, okay?! Thanks, Hintshot! This shit rocks! 😀👍👍👍
i could never forget
The little animation at 8:26 is so good, really stylish and flashy. Keep up the good work!
I like to think that the reference in 19:00 is actually a hint that he was working in Welcome to Team Fortress
Hahaha i also notice that
Watching this hearing excellent music, and scrolling to the description to see you made it yourself, is incredible. That's a lot of talent.
That used to be a thing back in the day
i think TF2classic has that enabled and it's called spywalking
@@sdfggdfg5fgdfg That sounds cool af
12:40 and this is where CND becomes your hero.
One of the last things people expect is for the recently found out spy to hug a wall while using CND. The amount of times I've missed a YER stab, cloaked in a sneaky spot, redisguised and immediately walked back out undetected is insane.
Exactly! This is why Saharan set + CND is my favorite load out for spy
I’m glad someone in the community is shining light on this amazing weapon.
I just saw your vídeo tittle and immediately used the knife in while playing spy, i loved it because it forced me to back stab my enemies and actively cloak myself fastely just to get a stab so i was always hiding and stabbing when i could
Haven't even started it and the intro has me hooked and that transition to "Underrated" Your word play as well all of these are incredible
All your videos are always quality, yet I'm still especially amazed by your audio work every singe time. Like, I could probably fit the amount of UA-camrs I know that create their own soundtracks to their videos on one hand, and one of those people makes them for videos on a nearly 16 year old FPS and I love it.
:)))
Dude your editing got so GOOD
This video is great! Watched it all the way through from the first click!
Also I'm not a damn bot!
0:34 when the knife comes downs the beat drops in the background music that’s sick
I've been playing TF2 for 11 years, mained spy for pretty much that whole time. and I NEVER knew you could trigger the disguise reload. MIND BLOWN
you should read some loading screen tips
But cloak and dagger allows for some interesting plays with the tricks it has in it's sleeve:
1) You can very effectively negate the cloak drain rate by moving in crouch position.
The intro alone had so much effort put into it. You don't see that much nowadays. Instant sub, looking forward to more!
Thanks!!
probably the most stealth focused knife in spies arsenal, you become like a shadow creeping in the night carrying a dagger.
This video was already amazing, but learning you made, not only your own great SFM stuff, but also your own SOUNDTRACK?! Great stuff!
i don't know if everyone suddenly agreeded to use the YER and make content about it but i'm loving it, as a stealth games aficionado i love the fact that you can really go under the radar with this knife
i wonder if playing TF2 right after playing dishonored would make me better at spy. in either case you are practically invisible should you be at a slightly elevated position
So if this balance change were employed, it would actually make TF2 closer to real life, as well as alter the dynamics of how Spy plays.
if i could rework this knife i would bring the +33% cloak drain down to only +20% to be slightly less punishing
and add some gimmick mechanic on top of the pre-existing stats that allow the player to stack kills like the eyelander, but instead of gaining health and move speed like the demoman the spy would gain bonus resistance/move speed when cloaked for each backstab he gets. As the name of the weapon suggest its 'your eternal reward'
one time a disguise actually saved my life I disguised as a friendly pyro while aggressively charging another enemy spy then I got a sick ambassador head shot on him
13:09 GAWT that transition
Was about to say gawd dawmmm
your visuals are amazing man, many of the frames in this video could be turned into a wallpaper or a picture or painting that could be hung to a wall, good job
Fk we see all 3 aspects of disguises IN THE MEET THE SPY VIDEO
Location: ofc the fastest guy would get to the intelligence room first
Movement: he interacts with the room with confidence like he was there before
Details: scout is a bit of an idiot who doesn’t pay attention but is boisterous and hot headed ofc a guy like that would forget a door code but confident enough to try the knife trick but be too dumb to do it, and obviously his reaction to “your mother” was absolutely masterful
I've never played TF2, but the production value on this video is amazing is UGHH. Amazing.
Hey! I’ve never been a huge tf2 fan, but this video is top notch. Held my attention the whole way through. The editing, scripts, sound effects, jokes, and everything else were fantastic. Massive props my dude.
Thank you
@@HintShot most welcome.
Amazing music! Can't believe you made it yourself, but many people have talents others don't usually see!
been playing spy for the better part of 7 years or so and finally a video that summarizes what you actually 'do' to make your disguises convincing. very well put together video and you've convinced me to try out the YER.
Random recommended vid I do not regret watching. The quality caught me immediately
8:25 Holy hell that is so smooth
I never laugh at gaming youtubers' cringe attempts at humor. You nailed it! Fantastic writing.
0:10 I’m sorry but this intro was way too clean
In my last comment I mentioned I’ve never been a huge tf2 fan. Good news! This channel has helped me become a tf2 fan, and i main spy now. I actually get kills as well! Thanks hintshot, have a good day.
YER was actually the first knife I have crafted.
I loved it, never scrapped it, and mained it.
Cheers.
I did see this
Thank you, sincerely, this means a lot

Wasn't expecting this! Of course, it's an honor. Keep gettin' those stabs and don't forget it's fine to take bits away to recharge those backstab batteries. Best of luck and perhaps we'll see each other in game by chance. :)
That opening animation is simply perfect.
Why is no one talking about that insanely animated intro?! That was so cool!
Also it is nice to see other people think that the YER is not as bad as it put out to be.
Is no one talking about that intro? WOOH.

Yeah, it’s a promotional item that can be gotten from I believe if you bought the portal 2 physical copy soundtrack
Well worth the wait 👍
Why do I keep finding tf2 yters with a sub count in the 10 thousands talking about spy with the most well made content ever
The YER with the Cloak and Dagger is the best sneaky combo ever, disguise with the YER, hide with the CnD
2:12 Was that a fart joke?
I just can't believe this madman made an entire album to use it on his video 🔥
I'm a newer player but when I saw this knife for spy 3 months ago I bought it and I can't stop using it. Now I have 47 hours on spy and love running the diamondback default invisible watch and the your eternal reward.
Honestly, i pair it with the cloak and dagger to surprising effectiveness. Theres rarely a hiding place more than 5 seconds away, and usually if there is, youre already dead by the time you reach it
17:04 imagine needing heals then you found out that your medic is a spy xd
as a heavy main,i tried using the YER,and now ive realized how easily you can backstab someone.
now i have 2nd stage anxiety and i keep rotating 180 degrees
I really love the design and idea of the YER but have a really hard time actually using it because I rely really hard on using my invisibility to position myself and wait for an opportunity.
This was always my go to knife when playing spy even before the jungle inferno rework/buff.
5:17 If you get stabbed by your eternal reward and your team doesnt notice you might not be able to say it beacuse
"Voice communication is not avialable on this account"
Beautiful video, and with excellent commentary and explaining. I love the quality and happy to wait for your next! Don't burn yourself out and stay awesome!
I’ve had this idea lurking around my head on how to switch up the YER a bit:
On backstab, if you’re covered in any fire, Jarate, milk, etc, it will be removed from you when disguised. This will only work for the knife however, so regular disguise will still have the effect on you.
I do agree with removing the drain 100%. I love customizing my loadouts for any class! (I’m looking at you, Crossbow-Übersaw Medic)
HINTSHOT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE NOW ALL THE PUB SPIES ARE USING THE YER
This is probably one of my favorite weapon reviews. Def top 2 maybe 1.
I love the editing, subtle jokes here and there, the self made music and choreography, the review itself, this review is just perfect in my humble opinion.
@@HintShot I mean it, dude! Especially the music was a great listen. I listen to Eternal and Reward a lot on Spotify since I'm a sucker for good piano music. Keep it up, man! You're amazing! :)
The Intro to this video has better production quality than several Hollywood blockbusters.
I really like the way you explain stuff with the pace of the video, the music choices, and the gorgeous looking animation.
My fav loadout is wanga prick, letranger and dead ringer because if you manage to learn this play style you are unstoppable. Also no one expects spy with YER and dead ringer.
