I find it funny how a spy can instantly replace your teammate that you already checked
Just imagine how confused the demo is when a scout he saw double jumped suddenly morphed into a spy. And unless the victims directly tells him what happened, he will never know what actually happened and be confused until the dawn of time
I wish the yer didn’t get a drain rate increase or at least give the wanga prick the old stats
Or the demo realizes what happened as soon as he gets backstabbed and sees the spy morph into him
That's the true strenght of the Y.E.R. - making disguises believable
@@magnum78923 Which is why, in my opinion, it needs more tricks of same kind. Such as fake fire, that drains your cloak, but makes your disguise act as if you are shooting.

Something i would like to note with the Your Eternal Reward is that it has a special synergy with the Cloak And Dagger, as you are able to disguise while invisible as long as your cloak meter is full.
And most people don't realize and say it's the worst option
eternal reward only silents screams though and not the stab noise itself. experienced players can notice it if close enough
cloak and dagger is just generally worse than stock watch as well as it has faster cloak drain stacked with eternal reward if used along with no burst cloak regen while invisible (from dispensers and ammo packs)

@@petrblaha8806i find the stock watch to work just fine with the YER. i even prefer it sometimes just so i can pick up boxes while invisible and actually move through chokes without sitting still every 5 seconds.
For spy being the most complex class, all the knives are easy to understand: stock, speedboost on hard mode, very hard mode, gunspy, and unexpected option but you have to use your brain.
Spy's done in a way that you can be the best spy and still have something you can learn.
It's basically:

》Lesser health, greater stab benefit

I wouldn't exactly call the kunai 'very hard mode' unless the enemy team is very good

As someone who plays medic and engineer, understanding how spys think it vital to survival. These spy tutorials are handy to pretty much anyone.
Medic and engineer are my next most played classes after spy, its mainly bc i cant aim tho-

The YER and Big Earner are criminally underrated and should be used more.

Big earner and yer is usually used if you want to kill 10 people but pyro is be your worst enemy

because people dont use it that much
Scout is too fast to kill
because if you are able to backstab a bonked scout then a) they're not very good at using it and b) they're as good as dead (slowdown is based on damage)

You never know when are you going to find a spy that literally refuses to die and either trickstab you or flee in his team's lines, making you die like an idiot if you don't pay attention to your surroundings
This is probably the best educational Spy content I’ve seen on the platform, not just for spy players, but people who want to counter them. It’s helped me greet pesky Frenchmen with the barrel of a crit-boosted 12-gauge shotgun. I can’t wait for “Spy has a gun! Now I explain them.”

I love the whole actually smart spy thing, as it turns something from point and shoot to some of the most messed up paranoia tactics able to be done in a silly game. I love your videos because instead of teaching spies to be some sort of one man army you show the actual reality of the spy, to be more like an actual spy.
I really loved how someone called the YER once - "the Spy's hard mode".
Also you forgot to mention that the Cloak and Dagger allows you to continue staying invisible after disguising with the YER and won't even make your silhouette flickering, making it very good choice to pair with the YER.
I really appretiate how this guy talks about the knives in a way that truly shows their strengths and also without saying "this knife sucks, ______ is the best"
I think sn underrated aspect of the Big Earner, and why I think it's the most unique knife, is the fact that it's effects trigger on kill, not JUST a backstab, which gives you much more flexibility that one would think. Soundsmith gave a good synopsis of how the effect on kill can lead to a fairly unique alternate play style where you use the Ambassador to get targets you're fighting down to very low health and finish em with a butter knife to get the speed boost

Sadly even though it looks sick, the lack of a taunt kill makes it objectivly worse then stock
2:00 A great way to get this down to muscle memory is to disable viewmodels when you play spy, that way you are forced to know when to stab off of intuition rather than the knife raising animation.
5:17 as a pyro main, to you spies, be wary if they have and use the power jack, because usually (coming from experience) they (mainly I) like to close the gap with the 15% speed boost, swapping on and off of the flamethrower every time we’re (I’m) close.

My only problem with spycicle is that after melting away it switches to your sapper instead of revolver, having you to spend that precious 1 second of fire immunity on switching to your gun
One of my favorite details from this video is that you tried putting the knives into appropriate settings (kunai in Sujin, spicicle in altitude, stock in default) while I wished for YER in Egypt and The Big Earner in Kong King it really shows that you put effort into every possible aspect of the video no matter how small or large of a visual aid it was

Ive been running the Eternal Reward with the Dead Ringer recently, and it makes for a very fun, agressive, and psycologicaly manipulative playstyle
I personally prefer the Cloak and Dagger when using the YER
Your cloak/disguise management must be on point if you can pull off that kind of playstyle effectively

Binged this series because I'm trying to learn spy, first game I got I was doing trash and then I remembered that the L'etranger still does pretty decent damage, and then I started doing far better.
Two side-effect penalties of Your Eternal Reward:
- Speed Penalty - you have to pick your disguise at your spawn, which you don't have to with any other knife, and it's unlikely going to be Scout, Medic or Spy, meaning you walk from your spawn to the front line at the disguise's speed.
- On-Spawn Wallhack makes the enemies know that there is a spy and the class he's disguised as.
Both can be mitigated by using cloak and/or disguising near ammo packs, but it's harder and more situation dependent than just disguising at will near the front line.

It'd reduce spare revolver ammo by a lot, but give increased movement speed, health and cloak speed, the knife would probably be replaced with a french sword and deal the standard 65 damage
And then spy gets a shield that replaces secondary and allows a charge stab

Hey Jonto, could you please make a video explaining what to do after a stab? Since Spy is very weak, survivability is key to mastering the class. I see a lot of players getting a backstab, then dying, essentially rendering them useless for a few seconds; and what's worse is that those seconds of downtime could have been used to kill an important target to help their team. That's why I kindly ask for a video about survivability after a stab or survivability in general. It's also important to keep in mind that different weapons give the Spy different survival tactics, so if you do consider this idea a good one, this is an important topic to talk about. Thanks!

what's funny about the YER is that, if you're disguised as an enemy, when you get a stab, your old disguise is gone which means that to the enemy one of their teammates just disappeared. however, no one notices. like, how??
