    Granny square patterns are so much fun and have to be one of the easiest patterns to use when you want to create a big blanket fast. I’ve been crocheting for 40 years and I turn to the Granny Square pattern often. You can’t go wrong. And changing colors really does make the blanket look like you’ve spent even more time on it than you have. 😊 Just always tie in those loose stands well so it doesn’t come undone the first time someone washes it. 😊 … NICE job on the tutorial by the way. Not everyone can understand patterns and tutorials are so helpful.

      I couldn’t agree more! There are so many colors you can put together to make a bunch of different, beautiful granny square blankets. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed 🧶

    I've been watching different videos for this blanket to see if there's one in particular I want to do, and the amount of different ways people hold their yarn is insane! I think it's really cool that we're all doing the same thing but in different ways

    Thank you so much for this lovely tutorial. I finished my first blanket and did the continuous rounds and, as you said, it was kind of warped and the sides were not looking too good either, but still nice. I started on the second one now, with the method you are showing in this tutorial, and OMG what a difference.

    I am making this blanket now. I am almost done and it is very large now. I made it Afghan size. I’ve been following the directions exactly until now. I went all the way around and never came to the beginning chain and so I kept going thinking I have to come to the beginning chain at some point. I probably went around two or three times before it occurred to me that I forgot to do the chain three! What do I do now? It looks alright, but how will I ever end it? Do I have to take it out? Is there any way to fix this?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Рік тому

      I would try ending just before you get to a corner. Then I would slip stitch a few times to even things out. That should hopefully help a little.

    Hi, I made this in a modified version, 4 large granny squares, each starting with a different color. My question is how do I weave in the “tails” of the different colors I used or do I just cut them off?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 роки тому +3

      To weave in your ends, you will use a tapestry needle to go in between the stitches made. Keep like colors with like colors to hide them even more. I usually go back and forth in between the stitches 3 different times to make sure they're secure. Once you feel they're secure enough, you can cut the remaining tails. Hope that helps! :)

    When you slip stitch to close a round, do you go through both loops at the top of the chain or just one of the loops?
    Also, thank you for explaining “the turn”. My blankets were Turing out wonky, now I know why. 😊

      Yes, as I mentioned in the video you will turn your work after every round.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  11 місяців тому

      I don’t know the exact amount, but I would probably double or triple the amount of yarn, if using the same yarn I’m using in the video. I’d guess anywhere from 2,000 to 2,500 yards. I could be way off as I’ve never made a blanket that big, but hopefully that would give you an estimate. 🧶

      You can add a border around this blanket if you’d like, but I didn’t add one. If you did want to add one, you can make a round of single crochets or you can also add another round of shell stitches. That would look nice 😊

      No worries! So what I mean is with the magic loop, at least the way I make it, is you will grab the other strand on your finger. You will have two strands on your finger, you will insert your hook under the first strand and grab the other strand (the strand on the left) with your hook and pull through that first strand on your finger. I hope that makes sense!

      It could be because you’re using different yarn or hook size than I am. Or it could simply be your tension. You can always go down a hook size if needed.

      To finish your blanket, you’ll want to make your last stitch, cut your yarn leaving a long tail, yarn over your hook and pull through. You’ve created a knot. Then you will weave your yarn tail in and out between the stitches (I go in 3 different directions) to really hide your tail. I hope that helps!
