There are so many different granny squares. I use to know it by heart. Thank you. This is the square I taught myself when I was in high school. I am 71 years young 😊 and you saved my anxiety. This is what calms me down. I crocheted my mother who is 92 in her own apartment an afghan. It was a king size afghan. She still has it and it looks like new. I used this exact pattern. 😅😅😅 Thank you so much. I have subscribed to you. I'm so exhilarated. ❤❤❤❤

Like you, I’ve not crocheted for ages. I am 79 and have osteoarthritis in my fingers, and I used to use size 40 Coats Mercer crochet to make lace covers for my coffee tables. I was quite good at crochet. Now I find myself stumbling at crocheting a mere chain! I thought crochet would be easier than knitting, which hurts my hands now. I was once an excellent knitter.

I've got arthritis too. My right hand really hurt when I first started but I've found that my pain has lessened a bit over a few weeks. If not, then I pop 2 Advil because I'm not stopping! ❤ Good for you and keep it up!

Im 50 and randomly got interested in crochet and knitting. I struggled for years and have all the yarn just waiting to become something. I sorta gave up and just bought a knitting machine. The knitting machine is great but the desire to learn how to crochet never left. After years of trying I thought maybe if I can just learn a granny square. I watched this video over and over, I lost count. After starting and pulling everything apart time after time I finally got it! I’m so proud I wish I could attach a photo to this comment. I looked for the FB page but it wasn’t there then I noticed this video is from 2017. Anyway this is the start of something great for me 😊 and you’re a great teacher! Thank you!!

Raise the flag and phone the neighbors! A beginners tutorial that actually behaved as if it were for...well, beginners. I found this video to be truly instructive (thanks for slowing things down!) and helpful on so many levels, but especially with regard to the geography of the square, and the way that geography changes as you add more rounds. Seems a simple enough concept, but nowhere in the dozen or so other videos I've watched was the pattern broken down to "dc 3, chain 2, dc 3". Six dcs is not the same as 3dc, chain 2, dc 3. NOW, after your vid, I can recognize the patterns of the stitches, and where the real holes are. After about 13 attempts this week, i was finally able to successfully crochet a granny square. Thank you!

I am glad you told the beginners to turn their work on the Granny Square pattern because it will keep the pattern/square in a nice square shape. If a person does not turn their work the square gets a slant or sort of a spiral wonky shape. You have made a helpful tutorial 🧶

I was the same way Mary!!! Don’t know why but always steered clear of the granny squares!! (Maybe didn’t think I was “old enuf”?!) lol
      Happy crocheting

I’m really new to this, so I’ve watched this over n over. So whilst I’m still struggling I’m kinda getting it. The problem is definitely all me as the speed is fine. So I certainly appreciate you taking the time to make something like this.

This was the only, I repeat THE ONLY tutorial that taught me to crochet, and to be able to do it on my own. Thanks so much!
Also, your voice is sooo similar to Mila Kunis, the entire experience of learning crochet from you is epic.

I've been in the beginner stage for years... only doing single stitch potholders, blankets, etc. The granny square always confused me a bit. I am so thankful for your video. I think I finally got it, girl! I appreciate the time you took to explain this, SO MUCH! Thank you and have a blessed day! 👍😁✝️🌻🙋‍♀️

Thank you for the slowed-down version. It has been many years since I crocheted. This is helping me greatly. When my stitches don't look like yours I just pull it out and try again. I often pause the video and try again. I am having fun. I want to make a blanket for my grandson using the Granny Square method. Again, Many Thanks!

Thank you SOOOOO much! I have always wondered how to do a granny square ... Your tutorial was brilliant! All I had to do was turn my phone upside down to follow as a left handed crochet! Absolutely brilliant!

Thank you for this slowed down version.
Not only did I watch it several times, I used a larger hook “K”so my work (and the holes) would be better defined. Once I get the hang of it, I will use a smaller hook.
    This video was very helpful.

Thank you for your wonderfully concise directions for the granny square. I was lost until I found your site. I'm now a happy camper and putting squares on top of squares. That pile will become a blanket for one of my great granddaughters. Thank you again.

For the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I understand how to do a slip stitch to get the yarn on my crochet hook. For 45 years I've been holding the hook between my knees, and making a knot around the crochet hook. THANK YOU!!!! hugs, Jeanie

Very good. I got it 100% this time. That's exactly what I needed to know. This is the first after searching MANY of them that actually went slow enough to get it. Every other video I saw seems like it was made for someone trying to show viewers how fast they can crochet.
