Thank you for this video. I’m not a beginner but I still had something to learn from it. I like how you start a new colour with a standing dc and how you secure the yarn on the back of the square at the end. This is better than making nots that disturb the shape of the square.❤

I'm new to crochet ... and followed other videos for a granny square ... and this is by far the BEST & so easy !!! Did 1 square with the video and after that it was smooth sailing !! :) My next challenge will be sewing them together !! Thanks SO much for the video !!!

Thank you for this extremely clear video. I’ve done lots of granny squares in the past and that first square is sooo difficult to get right. Your video tells me where I’ve been going wrong with the last stitch at the end of the first square. I understand how the lady said she didn’t understand the video but I suggest she just keeps trying and one day it will magically happen. It took me a long time to 'get it'. Thank you 🙏

I've been doing granny squares for many years. But, your tutorial is fabulous especially the technique of joining a new color and using the slip stitch and chain 2 at the beginning of each round. It makes the square completely square and not wonky like many other granny squares that I've seen. Do you also have a tutorial on joining the squares to create a blanket or other projects?

Thank you very much for the refresher, Ophelia (what a beautiful name) 2o years ago I made a beautiful shawl but I used low quality yarn (Acrylic...) the cat hair was everywhere and my main color was black .... I had to throw it away one day and was very sad. Thank you for the new start lesson from Germany

Easy to follow along so good for beginners and memory jogger for experienced crocheters. * some more helpful tips for beginners *Some people find they need to flip the square for each round to help keep the centre squares straight and not on a lean and if the video is too fast for you to follow along with you can pause or slow the play back speed using the settings on youtube😊

Hi, it is worth considering this as an alternative to doing the slip sts. When you finish the round turn your work then you can start on the next cluster in the space! Try it!

I’m so happy I found this tutorial … I’m a beginner and wanna make a blanket so how granny squares would I have to make for a queen size blanket and how much yarn would I need
The best way to tell is to make one, then measure and weigh it, that way you can work out how many squares you'll need to make the size, and then calculate how much yarn, I hope you understand what l mean TheRealDiamondLovee! Thank you, Anja x

I would like to know if a granny square block is necessary and what is the normal sizes for the granny square if I do need to get one? What type of yarn is suitable for granny square 😊
Glad it was helpful Jessica! Firstly, any yarn is suitable for a granny square, just make sure you use the appropriate hook. There are lots of blocking boards out there, it depends on your budget of course. I very rarely block my squares, I don't find the need especially when joining them together. Thank you, Anja x

I really enjoy the way you do granny squares! Anja, if you were to make a very large granny square, do you flip the work at any time? I see that a lot of people say it stops the square becoming wonky. Personally, I tried doing that one time, and my blanket was still not completely square.
Hello Karen, a lot of the wonkiness is to do with tension, but if you turn it after each round it will reduce the 'lean' the stitches get. Thank you, Anja x
