OMG, the foundation chain plus the first row of single crochet makes so much sense! It stabilizes the center and makes it easier to continue with the granny stitches. I'm so glad I found this video.
💓💓💓
This is amazing. My first time seeing this pattern. God bless you.
Thank you! Enjoy! 😊💞
I love the foundation row. Strong base with no unnecessary gaps. Thanks for sharing.

I love that you used single crochet in the center! It looks so much better with this center than all the others I've seen. Just subscribed.
Thank you! Enjoy! 💕😃
Beautiful blanket love it you made it easy to understand looking forward to making it thank you.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! 😄💗
This is absolutely beautiful. I was looking for a different pattern and came up on this one. It's great and I love the being and I like how it comes out so strong and the shape is lovely. I didn't think it would work with two differences yarns, but it did. Thank you for sharing!!!!😊
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching! Enjoy! 😍💞
This is a fantastic tutorial! Rarely does a video tutorial make sense before I begin a project. I can’t wait to try this
Awesome! Thank you! 🤗💕
I have tried granny square so many times, but this is far the easiest way of explaining on how to start the foundation. This is my next blanket/bedsheet coming really soon! Thank you!
You are so welcome! 🫶💓
I love this granny rectangle much Bette than the granny square. Thank you so much four teaching us how to do it!

You're so welcome! Thanks for watching! 💓🤗
I like how you did single crochet row first it looks so much neater.💝💝
Thank you! It helps stabilize the middle! 🤩🙌
Single crochet ?
@@melodymaben4207 in us terms it's single crochet UK terms double crochet but they are the same stitch.hope that helps.happy crocheting.💟
Thank you so much❤
You're welcome! Enjoy! 💗😊
Que bonito tejido me gusta
💗💗💗💗
Great video
Thanks for watching! 😃💕
Thank you for using big enough needle and yarn that we can understand what your doing :)
Thanks for watching! 😃💗
Very well Shown
💗💗💗💗
The first color you did a chain 2 to form your corner spaces. The second color you did a chain 2 forming that first corner but from then on you were using a chain 3 when making your corner spaces. So which should it be when making the corners: a chain 2 or a chain 3 ?
It's CH 3. Saying CH 2 was just a mistake while filming. Hope this helps! 😊
Super 👌
💓💓💓
this is a great tutorial and i’ve made a beautiful blanket from this! do you do blocking for an item this big?
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can block if you want to. 😃💕
Such a lovely pattern. How do we proceed from row to row if we are using variegated yarn and not cutting off after each row? Would you just slip stich to the first corner space and continue the pattern? Thank you
CH 3, make 2 DC into the space to the right, then CH 1, SK 3 STs, continue with the pattern going left.
This is after the SL ST. Hope this helps! 😄
@@crochetmelovely thank you I'm going to try it out. 😊
I love this! I am making a similar blanket right now because of your help, and am wondering that as the blanket grows, how do you make sure the edges stay straight? i notice the edges of my blanket are becoming rippled
I turn my rectangle over every row! Hope this helps! 😊💓
I love the ease of this, I wish you would have shown the connecting new color, I can’t tell how you did that. I’m at a stop at this point :(
You'd use a Slip Knot to add any new colors: ua-cam.com/video/oS1H7ckM2CA/v-deo.html - Hope this helps! 😊
So well explained. Thanks.
How big is your blanket and how many rows dod you work?
Thanks! I made 40 rows total. 🤗💓
Love this. Can you make it using same yarn color? If so , how do you begin next row where chain 3 is used?
Thanks! Yes, you would just follow this pattern with only the one color. 🤗💕
sorry to say but 3 three and the change of color left me lost as if there is a missing step if one wanted to just carry on with one color. got the last corner done, chain 3 and joined...then I was lost. experimenting isn't working so well lol. I love this pattern so I need to perfect it lol my gifting list is long! 😅
Wanting to continue on with same colour. How to continue where you left off???
I would FO, flip my rectangle each row and continue this same pattern with the same color. It keeps the rectangle straight. Hope this helps! 🫶💖
hi..lovely video.. i have a question though.. if i want to make a granny stitch for a rectangle table of size 48 x 36 inches.,., so for this size what would you recommend my 1st foundation chain row stiches number to be?
I have not made on this size yet. But I think it would be any even number for your starting row if you want to adjust it. Hope this helps! 😄💖
@@crochetmelovely tks but tell mewhat number would you advisemeto make
oh.....I started with 28 for the center row. Even it you go a couple more or less it seems to very forgiving. 😊
Love it ! If I need to make the center longer - the center single crochet have to be in multiple of how many chains ? Thank you for your help 😊
Thanks! Multiples of 3! 😊💖
@@crochetmelovely thank you dear 🙂
I love make granny squares
💝💝💝
LOVE your videos! How many start chains to make a twin size Blanket? I have yet to find a formula to use as a guide. TIA .
I only make throws, so you'd have to measure. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! 💖🙂
What is the finished size of your blanket??new viewer here. thanks for the timestamps as a older stitcher I struggle with crochet ing in front of computer. Can't wait to get this started. Going to be a stash buster for me thank you again for great tutorial I'll be back
Thanks! It ends up being a throw size. I measured the length at 55 inches, but I don't remember what the width was. Hope this helps either way! 😃💓
I’m needing help with adding the second color. I don’t know how to attach it. Do you have another video explaining that in a bit more detail?? Sorry, I’m a beginner but your videos have been super helpful so far!
Np! I do have a video coming out but, it won't be for like 2 months on my schedule. But you make a Slip knot, take the slip know through the ST/space, then start making chains. Hope this helps! - ua-cam.com/video/oS1H7ckM2CA/v-deo.html 💖
@crochetmelovely how would you proceed with the 3rd row if you don’t want to change color? Thank you
I would still Fasten Off my row, flip my blanket over and start row 3 with the same color. It helps to keep you rectangle straight and eliminate any seams in your work. Hope this helps! 💖
Hi! What size yarn and hook are you using in this video? Thanks!
Medium weight yarn with a 5.5 crochet hook. Hope this helps! 😄💓
hi there, how many grams of yarn did you use for the whole blanket? looks lovely!
Thanks! I didn't keep track of how much yarn was used. I throw yarn in my stash then use it up over time. It's a throw size if that helps! 🤗💕
How much yarn would I need for a man sized throw and what size crochet hook ? TIA 😊
Hi, I'm not sure. It would all depend on the size you are wanting. Thanks for watching! 💕🤗
Thank you for sharing this awesome pattern! I am a beginner who's only made amigurumi so far and I'm lost on how you attached the second color at 7:05. Do you have a video that explains it, or could you explain here? Thank you so much :)
Glad it was helpful! You would make a Slip Knot - ua-cam.com/video/oS1H7ckM2CA/v-deo.html then bring that through the new open space/ST to start. Hope this helps! 😊🫶
I get how to make a slip knot - I don't know what you mean by bring it through, tho.
Where do all the ends of wool go.
ua-cam.com/video/V9CbJ5Iwwj4/v-deo.html - Hope this helps! 💕😊
Why do you use 2 chain for corner on row one then 2 chain on first corner of row 2 then 3 chain on the rest of row 2 corner.
To use 2 or 3 is normal for a lot of patterns. I propbably forgot through the row and accidently switched. 😂😅
@@crochetmelovely😅😂 happens to the best of us...more some if you haven't done it for a couple of years. After getting brain fog from the cvid shot, I thought this a brilliant idea to get a few brain cells back. This should be second nature to me but I need to slow the speed of vid down to 75 and still pause, still rewind
It's that 3rd row corner and how to continue on that really has me stumped
The color change came too fast for me to see how those important corners are. I've never flipped a peice of work but I am going to try. Wish I could join you on FB but I'll never go back there for security reasons. hugs to you. 🫂 🤗
Do you turn after every row? What if you want more rows same color?
I would FO, flip my rectangle each row and continue this same pattern with the same color. It keeps the rectangle straight. Hope this helps! 🫶🩵
I am new at crochet, could someone explain how to change to a different color for each row?
You'd make a slip knot, then bring it through where you want to attach and start the new row. ua-cam.com/video/oS1H7ckM2CA/v-deo.html - Hope this helps! 🫶💕
Can you show how to make a border now for this rectangular shape?
Sorry, there are just too many options for borders. I tend to do a different one each time I make a blanket! 😂💖
If I make it a solid color do I still have to reverse the rows?
I do, to keep my rectangle straight. It might seem like a waste of yarn, but it seems to help that. Hope this helps! 🤗💗
@@crochetmelovely thanks so much! 😊
ohhhh I think the light bulb 💡 just went off in my head!!! On that tricky 3rd row corner issue...if I flip the piece..problem solved!!! tada!! 😂
How many skeins will I ideally need for this?
I didn't keep track of how much yarn needed. Sorry!
How are you attaching the different colour yarn? I’m finding it unclear thank you :)
Make a Slip Knot with the new color: ua-cam.com/video/oS1H7ckM2CA/v-deo.html, bring that knot through any space/ST where you want to join. Hope this helps! 💕👋
Hi Is this a sample size for demonstration? Or do u always start with 20 for this pattern?
Hi, the example blanket is a throw size. You can adjust the starting row with even number of chains for any size you want to make. 🙂💝
When u have time would u do a short demo of this with one color, (No color change) and turning? I’m ending up in a different spot than where your color change is. Thx!
I don’t want to change colours how do I proceed?
I follow this same pattern with the same color. It keeps the rectangle straight. Hope this helps! 😊💕
How much woll requires please
I didn't keep track, only measured the blanket. Sorry!
At 9:57 you say chain 3 for a corner but I thought it was always chain two for a corner. In the corner right before that you said chain 2 is why I’m confused
You can do either. But stick with which one you choose throughout the pattern. Hope this helps! 😊💕
How many rows does it take to get to a twin size blanket
I'm not sure. I haven't made this pattern in a twin size yet! Sorry 💖
Crochet Crowd has a chart for varied sizes.
What if I am not changing colors?
I follow this same pattern with the same color. It keeps the rectangle straight. Hope this helps! 🤗💓
How long does this typically take to make?
It would depend on how fast you can crochet + how much time you spend crocheting. It's okay if projects take a while though. The process is fun 💖✨
If you are using the same color and not switching . Do you still turn your work?
I do! It helps keep your rectangle straight. Hope this helps! 💕😄
@@crochetmelovely I am turning mine into placemats. I'm using redheart granny square yarn
How would I proceed with row 3 if I'm not changing colors and starting at the corner?? Someone pls help!!! 🥲
I follow this same pattern with the same color. It keeps the rectangle straight. Hope this helps! 🤗💓
@@crochetmelovely I was wondering more about how I would continue with row 3 when I have to flip the rectangle. When I flip it the way the corner stitch is facing at 7:00 is hard to work with I feel I have to slip stitch across so that I can comfortably work in the back (which Ive tried…didn’t go well 💀) I hope this makes sense cause I couldn’t think of a better way to ask the question 😭
I have a question! Why is it that in your first "corner" you only CH 2 and not CH 3--video and written pattern--like the other three corners? Also, the center of your blanket looks the best of all I have seen! Thanks for sharing!
The CH thing is just an error while filming. Thanks for watching! 💕😊
Do you have to keep flipping your work? Thank you :)
Yes, I think it helps keep your rectangle rows straight. 🙂💓

Thanks for watching! I made 40 rows total for a throw size. Hope this helps! 😊💕
Still trying to master this beginning…… It looks easy, but it ends up being lopsided because the beginning is looser than the ending! I will preserver.
You can do it! If you need help, you can always message me on FB/IG with pics! 💗😃
