Tragic Kingdom is a masterpiece!
Return to Saturn was a great another masterpiece
This song was written about Liam Gallagher.
Let's see how many people are still listening to this masterpiece in 2024
Meeeeeee!!!!!!!
Present! Just listened again, sang along as my old dog looked at me odd! LOL I'm 49 and lived this era of music. helps the soul.

Steve Celestino lol
nope, never had my own tamagotchi.. soo
@Zapa I was privileged I had a giga pet too.
i had a real rabbit once, but it bit me. then my mom said it ran away.
that was so 90s it gave me frosted tips

Yeah. I remember being I love with that “Don’t Speak” song in like 2nd grade.
they will always leave a dent on my childhood
They were awful. The 90’s ruled because of British indie bands

June 2024. Anyone still?
i love this song
No
I remember having this playing on the school bus with my "anti skip" portable cd player. Great times.
Yep, when you pressed anti skip the music would stop for a second, the cd would speed up like 3x faster, then the music would resume and eat your batteries alive.
Same
Yesss same
But then you realized the trade off was the battery symbol flashing cuz it used more power for anti skip
Esp bro!
Let's see how many people are still listening to this masterpiece in Feb 2021
A lot... but nothing beats actually being back in the 90s and hearing it playing on the car radio
yes but only because UA-cam recommended it and I honestly forgot it existed
MY MOM SHOWED IT TO VE I LOVE IT
Lol stop following me. Wait. I must be following you! Muahaha! 😜
Heard it on the radio today actually
It's crazy Coachella made me realize how many hits they have WOW, they are one of the most successful mainstream bands.
This song in particular gives me goosebumps at the very end after the last fast part of the refrain, the way the tempo slows down ohmygoodness 3:36 😪🤗
its silly how everyone is like "i wish pop was still like this!!!!", this wasnt pop really. it was just a ska band that got mainstream fame lol
Ska-ish
@@saritatambayong4002 - ska adjacent
90s pop as a whole took a lot more chances than todays pop music. The style, artistic talent and subject matter in songs hit way harder then. There's a ton of good new music out now too but not the pop. Pop is so plastic, synthetic, autotuned and safe. Its garbage. MTV used to play Marilyn Manson on TRL ffs
nah this is pop....pop music wasn't such an insult as it was now. Madonna was pop and she was all over the place. Pop was anything back then not rock, rap, jazz, country or gospel.
They were ska as shit on previous albums. Not their first album btw
She was such a treasure in the 90’s!!!
She always will be.

And the times I held up her poster with one hand...

It was the 90s- my mom and dad were totally cool and loved good music. I used to steal their cassette tapes and listen to them on a huge boom box and plug head phones in and play this entire album on repeat. Love love love this song and band & always will! Thank you no doubt for contributing such amazing music for the world 💜💜💜
I used to listen this in the car while being driven to school in elementary school
No Doubt could write huge commercial hits and still really rock. Great BAND.
I miss Ska Gwen.
Don't we all.
+moviechic07 You don't have to miss her, just listen & watch her video's. The stylings of Ska, I am curious, to look up her Early stuff. I thought she did most of her music in Ska!?

***** She invented Pop Punk? Are you actually being serious? I am pretty sure there was a band formed circa 1986 called Green Day that ushered in a wave of music called Pop Punk which had been started by a band out of Philadelphia called the Dead Milkmen.

How does a typical '90's song sound? The genre the band performs is actually ska which was most popular between the 1950-80's.

I just walked into a spider web on our porch & it made me think of this song, of course. 😅 Now I'm here listening to it & I went straight back to my sophomore year in high school. I'm 45 & I still remember every word. Oh, the 90's 👌🏻😂

I just love how people look back on Gwen's history and are like 'what the fuck? Gwen done this sort of badass music? I always thought she was just another pop diva!". It makes me so happy because it's a nice shocker when you introduce "solo Gwen" fans to "No Doubt Gwen". Two completely different people.
What's more, many of those people will be aware of "Don't Speak", but have no idea of the album it came from.
It's depressing, honestly. I liked No Doubt Gwen. Can't stand pop divas.
Oh she rocked man. She was big in the ska scene back in the day. She just got over saturated and commercialized which equals poppy. In her day she was right there with all the big boys..
Gwen is glamorous hot today, but back then she was punk rock hot. I miss that.
Syntax, dear! :P

Man I remember this video when it was played on MTV. To all the young people discovering this band, please be grateful that UA-cam exists. We didn't have UA-cam back then so we either had to wait for the video to be on MTV or watch it on dial up.
Damn you are right

This song came out when I was in high school. Back then I couldn’t read those Japanese subtitles in the video. I eventually studied abroad in Tokyo and worked in Osaka for 3 years. Now I’m back in America and can read all of it! My life came full circle!

Those trumpets in the beginning and throughout the whole song are so reminiscent of 90s music and vibes. Reminds me of something that would be in the intro of a teen rom-con from the time.
They're a follow on from the 80's UK 2tone Ska

My fav no doubt song- i love how this is one of their more true ska influenced songs. I love how the song is fun, catchy, energetic, shifty (the melody changes and shifts a lot m, which i love, bc the song takes you different places). I love the bridge leading up to the chorus the best- “And now I’m stuck in/The web you’re spinning/You’ve got me for your prey”

NO DOUBT
Absolutely
not that she's not still as awesome but i miss this Gwen and just the old No Doubt in general
Same. I miss the 90s No Doubt. It was just so damn good.
They might come back in the future! A lot of great bands in all types of music, pop, rock, r and b, country typically take breaks and make comebacks after a long dry spell. But either way like a lot of great female pop singers Gwen is a jack of all trades, pop, ska-rock, alternative-rock, her Hollaback song in 2005 was pop with hip-hop feelings! She can do it all. I consider her a mix of Queen Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne who is the all-time queen of pop-punk music which is very close to the ska-rock music that No Doubt perfected in the 90s!
David Salahshor You're absolutely right and awesome to hear I really hope they do! Haha that's a great way to describe her! I think that's why even after her style and music went into all these varieties I still continue to be a fan of Gwen 💜 and will always be a fan of No Doubt 😁

I thinks it's little funny some people who just got into her discover her old stuff in the No Doubt days and are quite shocked. Compared to the people who grew up with her knowing that's how she started. Then those people got dissapointed when she went all pop.

hmm i was a fan of hers since i was middle school so her pop music isn't all that bad, still good music
I'm sixteen and I heard her pop music first even back then I really didn't like it then I heard No Doubts first album Tragic Kingdom and I was like why Gwen
I discovered her during her pop phase thing but I prefer her ska side and I prefer her band, in fact ever since I heard No Doubt I don't care for her solo songs.
Yeah if you compare her No Doubt days to her current pop career, there's no contest as to which is better.
