Jagged little pill is one of the best albums of all time! It's crazy to think she wrote these songs in less than 30 minutes each at just 19 years old. To me, Alanis is in my Mount Rushmore of top musicians of all time!
@@gobbleswells2883 she went on Howard Stern recently & said that song was NOT about Dave Coulier like so many people believe it was. She would'nt give the name of who it was truly about, but she was able to eliminate a lot of the choices people though it might be about.

What a legendary artist, song, and approach to life. “What it all comes down to, is that everything’s going to be fine, fine, fine.” 🎵 Alanis Morissette Hand In My Pocket
She doesn’t understand irony, or pianos, but nobody’s perfect. 🤣 Always enjoyed her, though I fell in love with “Alanis Light” aka Nathalie Imbruglia. Generation thing, I guess. Millennials are always torn and Gen X can’t get their damn hands out of their pockets. 😂
I was 11 years old when this song was released, I would listen it on the radio or MTV when it was a thing. Now I'm almost 38, married, with one kid and another one on the way and I still haven't really figured it out my life just yet. If you are reading this and you are struggling in life, don't lose hope, try to stay positive and have faith. Eventually everything will be fine.
I turn 46 this year, still trying to figure it out but have grown to realize I should've spent less time trying to figure out my life and more time really living it. If only I'd have listened harder back then and let it sink in; everything works out in its time
As a kid I would never have listened to this kind of music. But now in my late 30's and completely disillusioned about the world, this song hits me emotionally. I have since begun to see Alanis for the true artist she is.
Same here. I wish I could’ve appreciated music like this when I was younger but I didn’t have a grasp on life. Now that I do… man does this song sound different from when I would hear it on the radio as a kid!

It truly is a timeless classic, reminiscent of other greats like “Tiny Dancer”, “Viva La Vida”, and “Like a Rolling Stone”. Amazing!

Live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace out.
I’ve never heard a song that perfectly captures how I feel as a black guy in America sometimes. And this woman wrote this song before she was even 21 years old. The beautiful thing about radio in the 90’s was that a song like this could make it to the airwaves and make an impact with staying power. I’m thankful because my black ass wouldn’t have heard it otherwise. I was around 7 years old when this came out; Heard it less than maybe 10 times. Here I am 30 years later and this resonates with me more than I even thought it would.
This album is from 1996, if you are 35 now, you were just 7 back then. It's perfectly normal to not enough time/ experience on Earth, to be able to understand many lyrics in such small age.
You can feel the good intent, the good will, the good vibe, the good energy of this song, of her singing!! In the actual times, very few artists have this kind of thing!!! I was having a rough time through emotions this week, and just listening to this made me feel better!!!
I can definitely relate right now especially during this inflation and with the covid, everything now changed me especially financially so listening to that song uplifts my soul❤️
Living in a time full of bad news and pictures of death, hate and catastrophes, this song and this video help me to believe, that mankind and life are not lost at all. And in my own life, after a year of sadness, and even today, maybe losing a beloved person, this song about life itself and its diversity and up and downs gives me hope - and always makes me cry, in a positive way. Thank you so much for making this!!!
You listened to her in the 90s as a kid and liked it but didn't know why. Now... she's fucking phenomenal. That voice and the lyrics. It's a billion times better now and makes sense. Can't even explain it.
I don’t care if I’m a 29 year old man or not, this is a Beautiful song BRAVO 👏🏼 Alanis Morrisette Mind you I was 5 or 6 years old when I FIRST heard this song on the radio as I was riding in the car, a few days later my mother put on VH1 & I saw the video
This song is not about being woman. It's about struggle, optimism, being young, being confused and trying to figure out stuff and this is not related to gender. You have nothing to be ashamed of, good luck :).
@Jerry B IV glad to see this song still packs the same punch. Was in my twenties when this song broke. So many nights at the beach this was our sing-a-long song. Our cry to the world, we were fine, fine, fine.
I’m 13 and I’m soooo glad that my father loves her music, so that I know her since I can remember. I didn’t know her name for a really long time by the way but I’ve always loved her music.
This is what i call a video A simple concept with a organic and very beautiful message that matches the lyrics perfectly.thank you Alanis for this song
I loved her back as a kid growing up in the 90's and I love her even more now. This song is truly amazing. Listening to it now it just hits me the way it was meant to. Alanis you are truly amazing and I will always love you. I wish we could go back to the 90's. I'd hand all the technology over to get what we lost from those times.
I didn't appreciate this music AT ALL in the 90s, I'm close to Alanis age and found her cheesy. But I just saw her live last night and LOVE her now...she is the real deal.
Trust in Jesus, Hell is real and eternal! This is what the Bible says about it.. "The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 13: 41-42 Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven "I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the father but by me." John 14:6 Ask God to reveal this to you- He will! "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 ADMIT THAT YOU'RE A SINNER. We've all broken God's laws and ten commandments.. "Thou shalt not lie, steal, covet, dishonor parents, take God's name in vain.."(Exodus 20) We do not have righteousness on our own to get to heaven, "God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Cor. 5:21 Godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out. God is deadly serious about sin, when we genuinely repent we hate sin just as God hates it, and we turn away from it. "But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. He saves us from sin and hell and brings us into a relationship with him. We become God's children. We are saved from hell, eternal death. "For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. Read the Bible, Walk with the Lord and give your life to Him!
Tremayne Tyler Lorde was 17 when she dropped her fantastic debut album, as was Billie Eilish when hers dropped earlier this year. My sneaking suspicion is that there’s far more young talent out there than we’d realize, if only the major labels had more faith for something that pushes boundaries, rather than their tendency to settle for middlingly, mediocre music that all sounds so damned cookie-cutter-esque (due to so much of it being produced by the same few people). In the more classic vein, I think that most, if not all, of U2 were still teens when they released their fantastic debut album Boy; and, weren’t the Beatles barely 20 when they first started playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg?
@@GuadalupePicasso Sounds like you get it when you say "far more young talent out there" So I will pass this on in hopes you get this young 15 year old today who is about to unleash her debut album. I just heard this song after so many years gone by and I was surprised by the emotions that it evoked. It reminded me of raising my son who was little at the time by myself, working in Silicon Valley and always struggling but I would sing the part "I really haven't got it figured out just yet" at the top of my lungs. Fast forward some 25 years later, I'm married, my son has a beautiful life, and everything really did turn out quite alright, so I've got one hand in my pocket and the one is giving a peace sign!! Thanks Alanis ❤❤

A legend. To write not just one hit song, not two, not even three. A whole album of music and lyrics that are so real and relatable, sung from passion and are actually created for real people (not just the self-indulgent BS of this age). The 90’s were the best!
This song popped into my head today out of nowhere. Never listened to the words until now. 26 years old and taking the signs as they come. Be kind, strangers of the internet. What a beautiful song with so much meaning.
I’ve known this song for over two decades but these lyrics hit different when you’re a frontline healthcare worker in two LA hospitals during covid. After knowing this song for a couple decades I heard it differently today. Metalheads loves Alanis songs. I'm from the type of grunge and I love this kind of music by Alanis.
As an old metal head now, I secretly loved her when she was on MTV, and I still do :)
Same here Bro!
Im appreciating alanis more as an adult at 35 than i did when these came out. Her vocals are truly unmatched
This album is from 1996, if you are 35 now, you were just 7 back then. It's perfectly normal to not enough time/ experience on Earth, to be able to understand many lyrics in such small age.
@@AaAa-pf7tji was 7 years Back the. ,i am from Germany,so i dident understand a word 😢 but IT was dope .. now i understand everything
So true. I hate to sound like an old guy but you have to admit people used to have talent, even if you didn’t care for their music.
At 47 years old, I appreciate her vocals a lot more now, she's in her own stratosphere 😻
Makes sense !! If your 35 today that means your were about 6 years old when this video played on MTV.
You can feel the good intent, the good will, the good vibe, the good energy of this song, of her singing!! In the actual times, very few artists have this kind of thing!!! I was having a rough time through emotions this week, and just listening to this made me feel better!!!

HAPPY 25th ANNIVERSARY to Jagged Little Pill!!! Thank you Alanis Morissette for one of the greatest albums of the 90s!!
I am SO excited to see her in concert this August! 28 years of Jagged Little Pill, woot!
Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a: High five
Where? In August?
@Shelbyluv60 This was in the Philippines last August 2023. She was awesome.
As you age, you'll find this tune makes more and more sense.
GENIUS

I remember being a kid when this song first came out... that statement couldn't be more true.
This song is real. Food for my soul. Keeps me moving forward🤗
So TRUE
You listened to her in the 90s as a kid and liked it but didn't know why. Now... she's fucking phenomenal. That voice and the lyrics. It's a billion times better now and makes sense. Can't even explain it.
This song is so 90s....it takes me right back that I could almost feel myself back there. It was such a fun and happy decade.

I don’t care if I’m a 29 year old man or not, this is a Beautiful song BRAVO 👏🏼 Alanis Morrisette
Mind you I was 5 or 6 years old when I FIRST heard this song on the radio as I was riding in the car, a few days later my mother put on VH1 & I saw the video
I'm a 35 year old man and I feel no shame its an amazing song that keeps on being relevant.

This is what i call a video
A simple concept with a organic and very beautiful message that matches the lyrics perfectly.thank you Alanis for this song

They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 13: 41-42
Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven "I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the father but by me." John 14:6 Ask God to reveal this to you- He will!

Damn she looks young here - I had no clue she wrote Jagged Little Pill at like 19/20 years old, such a great album for someone so young.

I just heard this song after so many years gone by and I was surprised by the emotions that it evoked. It reminded me of raising my son who was little at the time by myself, working in Silicon Valley and always struggling but I would sing the part "I really haven't got it figured out just yet" at the top of my lungs. Fast forward some 25 years later, I'm married, my son has a beautiful life, and everything really did turn out quite alright, so I've got one hand in my pocket and the one is giving a peace sign!! and we have Miley in 2010's
Not even comparable... Alanis is an actual artist.
Josh Toms i know. Sure that Avril writes simplistic lyrics but they are relatable and you can relate to them. It's like Avril is reading your diary haha plus Avril sings better than Alanis no offense. Avril can play instruments too like guitar, piano, drums, bass and mandolin.
