It's easy to idolize this kind of relationship..and it's beautiful to see..but it's not possible for everyone. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for both of you is truly forget one another and move on.
And i feel like that type of thinking is in itself idiolize. Why because people don't want to be truly happy and obsessed with pain. There is no reason why this type of relationship shouldnt work. Why it doesnt because people are inherently selfish and want their cake and eat it too or refuse tp move on. If you cant picture yourself in this type of relationship then you haven't truly moved on and are not confident enough to. Obvious exceptions are for abusive/toxic relationships but thats it.
@@tammynjruso1462 It doesnt have to be like that. If you have to forget then you're still hurting. The best way to move on is to embrace the hurt as you go along, never suppress them.

Everything about this video has a strong hidden message. The ones that the singer could never tell. The accidental bump, the short glimpses, damn, even the sipping of the coffee..and who could forget that last shot where he's holding the other girl's hands and not hers (sigh). now leave me alone and let me cry in my room the whole day.
+bartzky10- Yes I think it's such a beautiful performance! I used to take the song literal, but then when I watched the video closely, you can see that it's not completely cool and it will always be difficult. But if you really love and respect the other two people, you will try to deal with it. At least that's how I feel. It's sad but it shows how when you try to deal with tough situations like this in a mature way, in stead of having things black and white in let's say your teenage years. (not you personally, I mean in general)
+bartzky10- Maybe the video portrayed that, but the whole song was about her relationship with her old band member, who she is still good friends with.
+bartzky10- i don't know if im wrong but at the end we see them running all together to the lake . and it looks like the same lake they've been hanging at for their whole relationship ( como lake in this clip ) . I agree. I think for some people there will always be apart of them that will love the one they let go. That's life. It's not perfect, but it is what it is sometimes. Still a great song and video from Ms. Stefani. One of her best.
The way the smile leaves her face when she sees them holding hands. MY GOD it’s so good, so subtle but so so much emotion. That feeling of being happy for someone you once loved, but still having that regret of “what if?”

Fine. You can have your opinion. It is the comments section to this video, after all. From my perspective I just felt like I was in the twilight zone with this opinion and people agreeing with it. It's a B level song in my opinion and In my opinion this isn't even one of Gwen's best songs.
I had been wanting all of those dresses/skirts and tops since I was 13😂 now(27) I can finally wear them because they are in style and now I also know how to sew so I can make whatever I want.
The brown hair girl who looks like in the old time that she dated the blue eyes boy is also gwen stafeni?? How come she becomes blone hair afterwards? Lol thats alright, but the story near the sea of The two sweets lovers is so cool and sweet! Can I know the name of the boy? Who knows his real name or actor name?
Agreed. It looks like a heartbreaking acceptance, and the way he looks at her, he knows. What do you think he’s supposed to be feeling based on the actor’s facial expressions? Is it guilt?
This is the most mature song dedicated to those ex that finish their relationships were in good terms, most speak of hate for having left with another one or the problems from past rather than forgiveness like this.
@Matt Michalik not really cuz she dedicated it to her ex. There's a review about the song that even though she's been through a lot in her past relationship, she moved over and accepted how things are with her ex. Witch its really nice
@Matt Michalik no. What? No. She's remembering the past, she loved him, and now on good terms but its not gonna be the same. Some people are mature enough to know that.
I completely agree with your comment some relationships change you as a person inevitably but its what attitude you choose to take is the key as to whether you learn and grow.
After all these years, this song still pulls on my heart strings. I'm curious if anyone ever thought the same thing as me. About how the song is about her being cool with her ex and moving on and everything. But the video clearly also shows some tension. With an accidental touch, how it brings back memories. How they look into each others eyes as though they are trying to convey something that they dare not say with words. Lastly, the scenes of Gwen singing it and looking just so terribly sad. I wonder if it was all intentional. Was all meant to subliminally say: "I'm cool....but" Or am I just soooo reading into nothing.? lol
I think you’re not reading too much into it. Returned to this song today after years and there are so many things going on I didn’t notice before. Those looks she gives are definitely not accidental.
Well, she means it when she says they're cool, but there will always be tension given the history, the memories and probably the connection. But that's part of being friends as ex lovers. And what this video and song shows that it's mature and loving to be cool, despite it all. She's even hanging out with his new fiance.
Lina Morgana I’m not surprised it’s her! She directed The Killer’s “Mr. Brightside”, Sophie Ellis-Bexter’s “Murder On The Dance Floor” and Annie Lennox’s “Walking On Broken Glass” just to name a few of my favs
This is a song/video that definitely hits different as an adult. If you're in your late teens early 20's, revisit this song in 10 to 15 years and you'll see. It sure hit differently for me now at 35. I was 17 when this came out.
38 and still hit in so many ways , we were too young to understand this master piece when it was realease as of now i can tell that it is part of life soundtrack , such an amazing song , video and gwen stefani looks OMG no word .
Now I’m 40. Remember I’ve heard and like this song when I was i my early 20s . Had my first boyfriend. Now we both married to other people, have kids. Still sporadically contact him because he is also my colleage. Yup, I know we are cool.
It's crazy how you dated someone and remain good friends and yet you want the best for them but it kills you seeing them with someone other than you but yet again it's cool
This song hits a bit differently now that I'm a bit older and a bit more mature. It's okay to know you and someone else didn't work out and still be happy for them, be mature and be cordial. Be confident in yourself, and if you ever cared for them, do your best to root for their success and happiness.
@@Somenoobdoodyes this song was about them and Tony Kanal. Her ex from No Doubt band. I was so invested in their relationship because her pain from Tony made her create great masterpieces
Timeless song….the whole production tugs at your heart strings….it picks a memory that you try to suppress but somehow this song conceals matters of the heart 🥺
This song makes me grateful, for the memories, for the reencounter, for the forgiveness and a love that even if it changed, was so authentic that friendship remains after years.
I wish there were more songs with themes about love like this. About moving on and still having love and respect for the other even afterwards. I think it's beautiful when people are able to maintain a healthy friendship after a break-up. Still having that mutual love and respect for the other, cheering them on as they progress in life....now that's pure innocent love.
I'm fairly sure this song is about Tony, the No Doubt bassist who she was on and off with for many, many years. When this song was written, both had settled down in their own marriages.
Pretty sure you are misreading this completely. Go back and watch the video more carefully and look for the cheering you are writing about. The song is pure irony.

This music video makes me nostalgic about growing up in italy, and i never even lived there.

Did you win an award for this one? Because you definitely deserve it.
The way the smile leaves her face when she sees them holding hands. MY GOD it’s so good, so subtle but so so much emotion. That feeling of being happy for someone you once loved, but still having that regret of “what if?”
I know exactly what you are saying
Brunette gwen’s style here is iconic
Honestlyyy I just wanna know how she does her hair 😭
@@OhLatte the brunette is a $7000 lace front wig she had made for the video! Insane. Looks so good
Yes I could tell it was laced but why so much
@@nancyfischer4875 I guess she got the best quality you could get, that’s why it looks so real. She said the record company paid for it “back when they used to give you money for videos” haha

Hands down one of the best pop songs and music videos in history
REALLY? gaga is better :* ;)
Joseph V He did embarrassed himself. I agree tho, this is one of the best.
How in the hell is this the greatest in history. My word. There's a big world out there. You think this tune is better than "Happy" for instance?
nyguy18 Why are you being so aggressive? In my opinion, this song is one of the greatest pop songs in history. Apparently so, in your opinion, Happy is one of the greatest. Can't others have different opinions to you?
Fine. You can have your opinion. It is the comments section to this video, after all. From my perspective I just felt like I was in the twilight zone with this opinion and people agreeing with it. It's a B level song in my opinion and In my opinion this isn't even one of Gwen's best songs.
This, in my opinion, is this very best song Gwen has ever written. And the video is pure art, too!
Every single outfit she wears in this video is flawless.
As is she. ❤️

I had been wanting all of those dresses/skirts and tops since I was 13😂 now(27) I can finally wear them because they are in style and now I also know how to sew so I can make whatever I want.

She looks so much better with brown hair! She's beautiful with blonde but brown is definitely her colour.

The brown hair girl who looks like in the old time that she dated the blue eyes boy is also gwen stafeni?? How come she becomes blone hair afterwards? Exactly. She brought beauty without having to take off her clothes, this is so elegant in comparison to most female pop artists.
Yep
it's perfect!!

Released on July 5, 2005. Exactly 15 years ago. This song has definitely stood the test of time.

It seems like a great drama novel that I would love to read!
The song say one thing, BUT the video show something else. The face, and emotions of Gwen are perfect.
Agreed. It looks like a heartbreaking acceptance, and the way he looks at her, he knows. What do you think he’s supposed to be feeling based on the actor’s facial expressions? Is it guilt?
Isnt like the other actress tony real wife?😮

Gwen Stefany looks great with light brown hair...so beautifull..
Henrry Alain , but most women who go the blond way NEVER come back.

I did tsk

haha omg i feel you mate
No, I am too man to admit it
yaaassss
This is the most mature song dedicated to those ex that finish their relationships were in good terms, most speak of hate for having left with another one or the problems from past rather than forgiveness like this.
Well there is ariana grande thank you next
@Matt Michalik not really cuz she dedicated it to her ex. There's a review about the song that even though she's been through a lot in her past relationship, she moved over and accepted how things are with her ex. Witch its really nice
@Matt Michalik no. What? No. She's remembering the past, she loved him, and now on good terms but its not gonna be the same. Some people are mature enough to know that.
I completely agree with your comment some relationships change you as a person inevitably but its what attitude you choose to take is the key as to whether you learn and grow.
This is just classic! Nobody can forget this
Here’s to all of us who are homesick for a place that doesn’t exist anymore.
Wow, brilliantly put. That feeling that when you know, you understand.
Yeah! I'm missing my childhood
Cheers to all the millenials ❤
Perfectly put. Amazing insight
same here bro, cheers to us 🙂
After all these years, this song still pulls on my heart strings. Was all meant to subliminally say: "I'm cool....but"
Or am I just soooo reading into nothing.?
I ALREADY HAVE IN LOVE WITH GWEN SINCE I WAS 5 .LOVE FROM INDONESIA ❤ AND LOVE ANGEL MUSIC BABY IS MY FAV ALBUM EVER
i though the same thing!! i thought it was obvious too till i read the comments lol

It’s beautifully filmed. I’d love to know who the cinematographer was on this video.
Sophie Muller was the director, if that helps.
Yea, it reminds me the music video of She will be love

@@adude8424 are you doing okay now it's been a month!? 😣 I Really know how it feels so hope ur okay and feel a bit better now 💖
It’s never cool.
This song hits a bit differently now that I'm a bit older and a bit more mature. It's okay to know you and someone else didn't work out and still be happy for them, be mature and be cordial. Be confident in yourself, and if you ever cared for them, do your best to root for their success and happiness.
I think is safe to say. This is one of the best music videos ever made in american music history. This director is a badass
The video was shot in Italy 🇮🇹 on lake Como.

It's so beautifully said
This 🥲🤌🏻
I wish there were more songs with themes about love like this.
@@cutepiku yes it is about Tony. Gwen has stated such.
Pretty sure you are misreading this completely. Go back and watch the video more carefully and look for the cheering you are writing about. The song is pure irony.
I think "Thank You Next" from Ariana also is a good breakup but i still respect you and love you
