11/2024-I had to stop by to listen to this song. My friend recently passed away of cancer and the last time I saw him was Labor Day weekend. While we were out driving he popped this cd in and we sang it at the top of our lungs , just like we had when it first came out. This was the last song, the last time we sang together, and with the windows rolled down; just like we were back in our 20s again. He really loved this song. Thank you

@Corn Fed This song came out in the 90's and was apart of the 90's generation. Boomers need to stop taking credit for shit they didn't create. Listen to ANY 60's generation song, the 60's and 90's do not sound the same at all.

Corn Fed ... Not stop baby.
Stop, children; Stop, hey; Stop, now. Those three versions of the first words of the chorus alternated through the song.
One of my favorites from the beginning.

I'm actually in this video. I'm the skateboarder "floating" in the air around 1:46 - 1:48. I was actually hooked onto a cable that was edited out in the final process of the video, and they hooked the board onto my feet so it would stay attached in the shot. I'm also in a few other shots as well towards the end. I was 15 years old at the time who was a Sophomore in High School, and my mom was great friends with the producer who pitched the idea that I make an appearance in the video as an extra which I was psyched about knowing I was gonna be in a music video. The shooting began around the Spring of 97', and my parts on camera took about a day to shoot. Afterwards, it gave me goosebumps how successful it became, and later how it's nostalgic when people recollect their memories from the 90's as do I. I didn't officially meet Meredith until after its success. Very talented woman.

Perhaps one of the best songs describing the beauty of a flawed existence. Only once you are married or a woman in her mid-30's does this song really start to make sense. I'm happily married and my wife is all of these things, and absolutely love her for it. She's 100% authentically her own self. Life gets complicated as you age. Learn to embrace it. It's all about how you respond, and has never been about being perfect. Humans are beautiful.

i am 16 years old. my mom showed me this song years ago. its always been one of her favorite songs, and i ended up loving it too. we always played it in the car together. 2 weeks ago she had a heart attack, and has been in a coma ever since. a few days ago, i received the news that she isn’t going to survive, and that she will pass away. yesterday i went in to talk to her for the last time even though she couldn’t respond to me. i made a playlist of her favorite songs, and out of all of them, i picked this one. i played it for her one last time. as i listened to it, the lyrics almost felt like a direct response from my mom to me, and i completely broke down. this song will hold a special place in my heart forever. i love you mom.
    thank you for reading
(ps: thank you all for your support. it means everything to me. but i feel like it’s worth noting that i’m a boy 😂 everybody keeps calling me “babygirl” in the replies

AsSalam Alaikum, Peace and blessings upon creatures of God, dogs and bitches, they also have souls, however, we mankind children of Adam are not dogs and bitches, we are brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters.
Blessings of God be upon all brothers and sisters, please read the message of your brother.
There is no god (ilah) but God (Allah) and Muhammad (sws) is a servant and messenger of God.
God is just One, there is no such thing like Jewish God, Christian God, Hindu God, Sikh God etc.
It is quite logical, suppose a Jewish girl marries a Hindu man and their baby is born, then who created that baby. Was the baby created by Jewish God or was the baby created by Hindu God. This proves God is One and the baby was created by God who created all babies. Thank you, your reward is with God only.
Please let me share few words about God.
Say, He God is One. Uniquely One. (Not like as Trinitarian tells you. 3 in 1 and 1 in 3)
All are in need of God, but God is not in need of anything or anyone.
He does not have children (i.e. no minor gods) nor He is born. (i.e. He alone is God).
None is comparable to Him. Nothing is like Him.

What is ironic is that people always mistakenly think that Alanis Morissette sang this song because Alanis was the biggest music star on the planet for a good while. I love this song, I hope Meredith Brooks laughed all the way to the bank with it. She struck while the iron was hot! I highly recommend the song "Wash My Hands" by Meredith Brooks & listen to the opening sample before the guitar chords begin! What an awesome way to open a song! Much love from Omaha, Nebraska!

Not really, it's a good song but "brilliant" is a generous word to use. This song is about a woman who doesn't know how to process her emotions and flips out randomly. There's no deeper meaning here.

Don’t see that too much these days. She was really talented, it’s too bad she didn’t get any recognition after this.

@@zay4080 I'm sorry for your loss too. My husband lost his father in the same way 9 years ago. Again, to a heart attack. Both died the same way. Stood up and went down instantly. I now see why they say heart attacks are the number one killer in the world. My grandad died of a heart attack waiting in line at the post office.
I'm so sorry to you losing your parent. I never realised just how painful it was for my husband to lose his father until i lost my mum. I knew it was tough, but until it happened to me, i didn't realise just how bad it could hurt.
My father was a broken man at the funeral. 40 years of marriage. December was their anniversary. I'm here again because this is my first Christmas without my mum. It's also still so fresh that she's gone. I feel so sick every time i see people celebrating Christmas right now. Torn between grief and happiness. She loved Christmas, and i want to celebrate it for her. But at the same time she's not here to celebrate it. I will never forgive the way she was taken. Tories can burn in Hell for what they've done to the NHS.
When she needed help they failed her in the most basic of ways. She waited 40 minutes for an ambulance and died for it. By the time they attended, she was well gone. They told my sister to run to the nearest police station and get the defib machine - Despite her not being authorised or trained to use it.
If she had lived she'd have torn them a new A-Hole. She worked with Teachers union fighting for teacher's rights and had visited parliament several times. RIP mum. 💔

My mother and me were out driving somewhere, she then turns the radio to the rock station and the DJ announces here's a "New singles hit by Meredith Brooks". I remember my mom being so blown away by the song she went out and bought the album the next day at Wal-Mart and probably played it about 100+ times throughout the summer. i remember, just a few weeks before she passed, i played this song in her truck as she drove me home, and of course, she knew it. she said it was her anthem. both her and i felt this song related to us, and described us in a sense. i think of her whenever i hear this song, now.
