@Corn Fed This song came out in the 90's and was apart of the 90's generation. Boomers need to stop taking credit for shit they didn't create. Listen to ANY 60's generation song, the 60's and 90's do not sound the same at all.
Corn Fed ... Not stop baby.
Stop, children; Stop, hey; Stop, now. Those three versions of the first words of the chorus alternated through the song.
One of my favorites from the beginning.

I remember as a teen it was a novelty song but as a 40yr old mother wife child sinner and a saint, I totally get it and love it ❤❤❤

Yes ma'am. At 40 myself this song rings so so true for so many of us! Blessed be sister!❤🎉❤
Love it me too beautiful talented lady🌍
She was saying she's a whore
Yo that just means YOU are the novelty now. Good job.
Man, I can remember singing this at the top of my lungs in my bedroom mirror when I was 13/14 and having no clue what life had in store for me. Now, after three kids and about 24 years later, and a whole life of experiences, I can say that I truly connected with this song so long ago for a reason. Wishing Meredith would go on tour one last time so I could see her live
So you want her to come out on stage, sing this one song and then......
I actually bought the CD this song was on, and I can't name another song she wrote. What concert is going on in your head?

MEEEE!!!
Yes. I remember I used to watch VH1 and they were playing alternative music constantly. This video, Natalie Imbruglia's Torn, and The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony were the alternative videos constantly playing in the 90s and any time I see one of them again, I'm transported to the 90s.
I wish I were a kid in the 90's...just glad I was in my 20's and saw some awesome live music in small clubs. ;-)

Lyrics
I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
Tried to tell you
But you look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
You must have been relieved
To see the softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one
I'm a bitch
I'm a lover
I'm a child
I'm a mother
I'm a sinner
I'm a saint
And I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell
I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
So take me as I am
This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous
And I'm going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing
I'm a bitch
I'm a lover
I'm a child
I'm a mother
I'm a sinner
I'm a saint
And I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell
I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
Just when you think you've got me figured out
The season's already changin'
I think it's cool you do what you do
And don't try to save me
I'm a bitch
I'm a lover
I'm a child
I'm a mother
I'm a sinner
I'm a saint
And I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell
I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
I'm a bitch
I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt
When you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb
I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way
YOU'RE WELCOME
Thanks :)

recently my mom passed away. i was given the news of her passing on august 17th. she wasnt my bio mom, or legal mom, but she took it upon herself to play the mother role in my life. she was only 33, and would have been 34 on dec 6th. she left behind a 4 year old little boy, and me, a 17 year old girl.
i remember, just a few weeks before she passed, i played this song in her truck as she drove me home, and of course, she knew it. she said it was her anthem. both her and i felt this song related to us, and described us in a sense. i think of her whenever i hear this song, now.
rest in peace, Katie Bug.

i am 16 years old. my mom showed me this song years ago. its always been one of her favorite songs, and i ended up loving it too. we always played it in the car together. 2 weeks ago she had a heart attack, and has been in a coma ever since. a few days ago, i received the news that she isn’t going to survive, and that she will pass away. yesterday i went in to talk to her for the last time even though she couldn’t respond to me. i made a playlist of her favorite songs, and out of all of them, i picked this one. i played it for her one last time. as i listened to it, the lyrics almost felt like a direct response from my mom to me, and i completely broke down. this song will hold a special place in my heart forever. i love you mom.

I'm actually in this video. I'm the skateboarder "floating" in the air around 1:46 - 1:48. I was actually hooked onto a cable that was edited out in the final process of the video, and they hooked the board onto my feet so it would stay attached in the shot. I'm also in a few other shots as well towards the end. I was 15 years old at the time who was a Sophomore in High School, and my mom was great friends with the producer who pitched the idea that I make an appearance in the video as an extra which I was psyched about knowing I was gonna be in a music video. The shooting began around the Spring of 97', and my parts on camera took about a day to shoot. Afterwards, it gave me goosebumps how successful it became, and later how it's nostalgic when people recollect their memories from the 90's as do I. I didn't officially meet Meredith until after its success. Very talented woman.

@@zay4080 I'm sorry for your loss too. My husband lost his father in the same way 9 years ago. Again, to a heart attack. Both died the same way. Stood up and went down instantly. I now see why they say heart attacks are the number one killer in the world. My grandad died of a heart attack waiting in line at the post office.
I'm so sorry to you losing your parent. I never realised just how painful it was for my husband to lose his father until i lost my mum. I knew it was tough, but until it happened to me, i didn't realise just how bad it could hurt.
My father was a broken man at the funeral. 40 years of marriage. December was their anniversary. I'm here again because this is my first Christmas without my mum. It's also still so fresh that she's gone. I feel so sick every time i see people celebrating Christmas right now. Torn between grief and happiness. She loved Christmas, and i want to celebrate it for her. But at the same time she's not here to celebrate it. I will never forgive the way she was taken. Tories can burn in Hell for what they've done to the NHS.
When she needed help they failed her in the most basic of ways. She waited 40 minutes for an ambulance and died for it. By the time they attended, she was well gone. They told my sister to run to the nearest police station and get the defib machine - Despite her not being authorised or trained to use it.
If she had lived she'd have torn them a new A-Hole. She worked with Teachers union fighting for teacher's rights and had visited parliament several times. RIP mum. 💔

I think people forget what a HUGE hit this was in the summer of 1997! She jumped on the bandwagon of Alternative Rock Women that Alanis Morissette paved the way for. What is ironic is that people always mistakenly think that Alanis Morissette sang this song because Alanis was the biggest music star on the planet for a good while. I love this song, I hope Meredith Brooks laughed all the way to the bank with it. She struck while the iron was hot! I think there is something in a kickass song that everyone can relate to
indeed, remember those times with a good music 😁
Valid Point,67 year old metalhead.
Omg nostalgia at its best 😩😩😩

This song will never get old because it will never die.

'I hate the world today.' First line in the song, and I feel that.
Back then when you can write a hit song and age had nothing to do with it.
Love 💕 you Meredith What an awesome song!u god, u are so beautiful !!!!
miss the 90s. i miss music that had depth, meaning, emotion. a lot on the radio today sounds the same. music was the best in the 90s, in all genres. now it's rare to hear a guitar solo in any song
Its true people rather take the quick make money approach. If people can make crap music and get away with it they will. Its a genre of fans for that lol
Sounds like you need to seek more tunes
you realize they said the same thing in the 90s about our music and 60-80 music right?
This song is actually brilliant
No. It actually isn't.
Lioness Fierce yesss
kingofallwhites Yes. It is actually. Boom bitch!
This song is so spot on... It describes a narcissistic sociopathic female. It describes the girl that broke my heart by lying and cheating on me. She cannot be fixed, and just like the lyrics say... she doesn't want to be fixed. This song describes Jessica, the girl I'm in love with, so perfectly. I now see it, and can't wait to be free from her grip. Trust me, this song is brilliant.
Not really, it's a good song but "brilliant" is a generous word to use. This song is about a woman who doesn't know how to process her emotions and flips out randomly. There's no deeper meaning here.
1990s and even early 2000s great time for music
Def Agree!🎶🔥🎶
The epitome of the 90’s ❤
I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
Tried to tell you
But you look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
Must have been relieved to see
The softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
So take me as I am
This may mean
You'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that
When I start to make you nervous
And I'm going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
Just when you think, you got me figured out
The season's already changing
I think it's cool, you do what you do
And don't try to save me
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb, I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way
Thanks for the lyrics ,flap
So take me as I am

This is on my Emotional Rescue Playlist. Listened today and realized I was making some decisions that would be self-betrayal. Decided to rethink them. This song helped and I am grateful for that.
Stay strong, friend. :-)
@@grayfox4239 I am! Listening to this tune was part of a meandering path which led me to deciding, age 64, to love myself the way I love others instead of loathing myself for being imperfect. My loved ones rejoice my new choice and affectionately say "We TOLD you so!"
❤
Would love to hear your emotional rescue Playlist! That sounds awesome like something I need lol
Hope it doesn't take me another 32 years to figure out how to stop loathing myself.
The national anthem of so many women I knew in the 90's.

This song will never ever go away, and it will always stay relevant.
AsSalam Alaikum, Peace and blessings upon creatures of God, dogs and bitches, they also have souls, however, we mankind children of Adam are not dogs and bitches, we are brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters.
Blessings of God be upon all brothers and sisters, please read the message of your brother.
There is no god (ilah) but God (Allah) and Muhammad (sws) is a servant and messenger of God.
God is just One, there is no such thing like Jewish God, Christian God, Hindu God, Sikh God etc.
It is quite logical, suppose a Jewish girl marries a Hindu man and their baby is born, then who created that baby. Was the baby created by Jewish God or was the baby created by Hindu God. This proves God is One and the baby was created by God who created all babies. Thank you, your reward is with God only.
Please let me share few words about God.
Say, He God is One. Uniquely One. (Not like as Trinitarian tells you. 3 in 1 and 1 in 3)
All are in need of God, but God is not in need of anything or anyone.
He does not have children (i.e. no minor gods) nor He is born. (i.e. He alone is God).
None is comparable to Him. Nothing is like Him.

Hells yeah 👍

Hell yeah! :)
It's pretty damn catchy.
This song is basically about self-acceptance and loving who you naturally are. But it also reminds me of psychological gaslighting.
why does it remind u of psychological gaslighting??
@@amberrj. I was wondering when I would get asked this question.
So from reading up one article about gaslighting on the internet, it is described as:
"Gaslighting is an insidious form of manipulation and psychological control. Victims of gaslighting are deliberately and systematically fed false information that leads them to question what they know to be true, often about themselves. They may end up doubting their memory, their perception, and even their sanity. Over time, a gaslighter’s manipulations can grow more complex and potent, making it increasingly difficult for the victim to see the truth."
"A gaslighter will initially lie about simple things, but the volume of misinformation soon grows, and the gaslighter may accuse the victim of lying if he or she questions the narrative. They typically deploy occasional positive reinforcement to confuse the victim, but at the same time, they may attempt to turns others against the victim, even their own friends and family, by telling them that the victim is lying or delusional."
"A victim experiences increased self-doubt as the gaslighter insists that what he or she remembers, thinks, and feels is wrong. The manipulative individual will introduce lies in more sensitive arenas, aiming to disrupt and distort foundational aspects of the victim’s being, wearing them down, establishing confusion, and forcing them to rely on the gaslighter’s version of reality."
"Those who employ this tactic often have a personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder and psychopathy chief among them. Manipulators have a tendency to present one face to their prey and another to the rest of the world, leading victims to assume that if they ask for help or speak out, no one will believe that they have been manipulated and emotionally abused. Gaslighters typically repeat the tactics across several relationships."
"It is possible for an individual to manipulate someone without realizing they are doing so. Importantly, though, the gaslighter still enjoys wielding control over the mind and behavior of the victim, even if they cannot articulate or acknowledge this fact. Some people engage in manipulative behavior because they witnessed it frequently as a child, most often in their parents. Regardless of a gaslighter's level of self-awareness, the behavior is never acceptable, and ignorance of the phenomenon should not be accepted as an excuse for manipulative actions."
With that lengthy description all set, I can post some of the lyrics of the song for comparison. I won't go through all of it, but these stick out to me the most:
"Yesterday I cried,
You must have been relieved to see the softer side,
I can understand how you'd be so confused...
I'm your Hell, I'm your dream,
I'm nothing in between,
You know you wouldn't want it any other way...
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous,
And I'm going to extremes,
Tomorrow I will change and today won't mean a thing...
Just when you think you got me figured out,
The season's already changing..."
I have room temperature IQ, so this analysis is not as great as it could be. Depending on your perspective, the song can feel like it is describing a relationship with a gaslighter from the gaslighter's point of view.
To anyone that is a victim of gaslighting, it's probably a good idea to set firm boundaries about what is unacceptable behavior. If that still doesn't work, just leave and cut off all communication.

@@FlowerUruguay Just yesterday, 19th May 2024, I watched a Breakfast Club 105.1 FM, New York City, USA, interview on UA-cam, where Jimmie "JJ" Walker said that we guys were two faced in the sense that when we went to bed with a lady for the 1st time, we expected her to be both a virgin and a "sex goddess/sex machine/top performer in bed." True, right? Meredith Brook's 1997 song above, "Bitch," captures what Jimmie "JJ" Walker said, right? Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 20th May 2024.
