I agree with you. This is an excellent cover of an amazing song. I almost never choose covers over originals because it feels like a betrayal. But in this circumstance, I have to say I can actually point out a real reason why I like the original better. This version is very stylized, especially in the vocals. It is a very polished version of the original and especially with the keyboards, it definitely adds more dimensions. But the keys lose the dreamy quality they had in the original, and the original vocals were more plaintive and strained. I almost died unaware that this song was not wrote by No Doubt. This is definetly one of those typical songs in which the cover performs better than the original version, in my humble opinion.
How is their cover of Talk Talk 20 years old now. Insane. I remember watching the MV at my university’s library because of the high speed internet. Literally one of the best covers ever 🔥✨👌🏼🙌🏼🤯
What's even crazier is that the original "It's My Life" wasn't even quite 20 years old when No Doubt covered it. This would be like some 2020s band covering No Doubt from 2003. Time is crazy.

This version is much better than original.
+drew L I'll pretend you didn't say that!
drew L You mean the better version? This new version butchered the original.
The lead guitar in this cover is masterfully done. That's the hook for me.
I'm sure everyone will tell me that Ms Stefani has produced lots of great stuff but this is the track of her career.
she looks the same then as she does now 💖💖

That's what happens when you're worth millions
This aged poorly
It's funny how growing up, I would hate when my sister (also named Gwen) played No doubt but now I'm much older and revisiting all of these songs. They're actually so so so good
@sebaswildboy
I always thought it was cool music back when I was in elementary.

Exactly people don't change just our attitudes do
I cannot stop playing this song

I don't blame you at all
Que voz tan bonita la de esta mujer.
Ni mencionar los recuerdos y sensaciones que produce oírla después de décadas
Gwen still to this day makes me get goosebumps with her performance as an artist and also the story she tells in her music. She screams womens true power and I love that about her.
Something about this song is heavenly. Like everyone around me is getting slower and the world is moving infinitely faster. It's like i'm experiencing my full fate.
Something about this song gives me the soft feeling of string
is that a jojo reference??
I know it's a JoJo reference but I am looking at your Enter the Gungeon profile picture... and a few minutes ago i have been thinking how this song could be the convict's (aka Laser Lily) theme song - the cool female outlaw. She has these Jolyne vibes in my opinion.
@@DraconasTenZHG You know, that's true
Too bad this version sucks
Can we take a moment to appreciate the amazing bass lines in this song
Not a bad job done covering such a great song. It sounds sufficiently different to make it worthwhile.
There is 'no doubt' that this is one of Gwen Stefani's best performances!
True!
Love the pun!! 😄😄
great 'pun'
For sure....The vocals are amazing.
🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
Gwen is the only one who could make the death penalty glamorous

I’ve always known the original Talk Talk version, but this cover is absolutely amazing!
top video
cannot agree more
But still not even close to the original. Love Talk Talk ❤
Sorry 😞, I like 👍🏻 Talk Talk's version better, as it's the original.
I don't agree with you, see my comment up above.
One of the best cover versions ever...but the original was great too..
I am torn, two great versions all different.
Music is amazing.
I remember seeing No Doubt at seven years old with my aunt and it’s something I’ll never forget. When this song started my little self couldn’t contain the mere excitement. So many memories with this amazing band.
How did you know these people when they were only seven?
I absolutely💖this one. I especially💖Gwen's expressions🤣when the Security Guards, are attempting to take her to the Gas Chamber.
That bassline though.. simple, to the point and still hip AF!
When she lifts her head up with that grin after she rams into Tony, that was an iconic moment.
I thought so too.
and followed by the look she was serving while throwing vases and catwalking afterward? Game Over.
I can think of a few more words that would describe that little grin other than iconic you know what im saying?
Joe Casson
I have no idea if he knows what the word means...but I do. People can be iconic for a million different reasons.
I think it was a nod to What ever happened to baby Jane
Easily one of my favourite cover songs of all time, the Talk Talk original is great as well but I prefer this version. Kudos.🎵🌅🍀
As someone born in the 90s who didn't have cable growing up, this is one of the only music videos I remember seeing on MTV at a friend's house back when they still played music videos sometimes. Very weird sort of nostalgia but I'm glad it's for this song in particular.
No way
That's awesome
I only remember ever seeing "Everytime" by Britney & "Speed Of Sound" by coldplay on MTV!
Oh yeah "Underneath It All" too!
I have a memory of walking thrue the electronics department and probably a promo for Gwens first albulm
It was "What You Waiting For" music video on all the tv screens
Unforgettable
Miss Walmart's old layout
🙂
What a special time
@@Nick-zn1vj you prolly would be in your 20's now. I was in my early 20's then, the best period of my life yet (with the best music), perhaps same age as you now. Those songs I love and still listen to them now.
❤️
MTV was on cable 😂
Before MTV was fully destroyed this was one of the videos played in heavy rotation.
I miss MTV when it was good and not overrun by degenerates.
90s mtv and kerrang was the pinnacle of music video TV.
Truly unbelievable ladie nothing but love and respect.
keep on keeping on.
Quando a versão supera o original, quando o que já é bom se torna incrível.
When I hear, this song fits my life so much. IF it's not my daughters trying to run my life then it's my grandchildren. I can really relate to the words in this song. Thank you, No Doubt! What a great band!
Stay strong. No one owns you.
You should listen to the original version, No Doubt didn't write it and if anything the original is even more poignant. Search out the 1986 live version at Montreaux . The band were Talk Talk
Thank you, Richard
I will check it out and I never knew that. Thanks again for the info....
I did listen to the version by Talk Talk and you are so right. Thank you, again for letting me know.
Richard, thank you again for letting me know about Talk Talk. They are amazing. I could leave on replay that is how good they are. I listened to live version when they are performing in England.
This is a real masterpiece! Don't know what to price more: her unique voice and face, her acting gift, the artistic direction of the clip or the music in general and/or the bass line in particular. Truly enjoyable! :D
this song is a cover lol
how is her face unique💀💅☠️

The instrumental version is good too.
That Bass line is the hook of the song it's genius.

ya today's everything so boring and artificial
Lol kids these freaking days lol 😂 you guys missed not a lot it was fun. But Gwen as is the same as she was she is now never changes she is awesome
@pranks the early 2000’s is gen z tho-
With songs like this one from the 80s?
@@raviii398 no way! Everything now is so commercialized and corporate, artificial and auto tuned.. No comparison to the early 2000’s and ESPECIALLY no comparison to the 90’s.
Please spare a thought for the wonderful Mark Hollis who wrote this song and who died yesterday, 25th February 2019. For those who don't know, Mark Hollis was lead singer of the 80's British band "Talk Talk."
If you have never heard Talk Talk's version of this track, which was the original by the way, do yourself a favour and check it out.
RIP Mark Hollis
Even he himself wasn't hugely proud of this song, or the album
Do yourself a favour and listen to spirit of Eden and laughing stock

You are very welcome.
Eh I think this cover sounds way worse than the original
This covered version more popular n famous than the old one which BS’s ex fans hate it coz her little red wagon not popular and famous n her Kerosene is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist ML!
She completely rewrote the melody of someone else’s song and then she was accused of Plagiarism, she had to recognize the author as a co-author!
The real hero of this song is the bass guitar. Come at me.
@ben scott what is the moral of this song/story ?
I've never understood it.
@@415campos4 I don't know dude I'm commenting on the amazing bass line. Go harass someone else with this question. Or you know, there is this amazing website called Google.

For me nostalgia is the 1980s version by Talk Talk though ^^
Nostalgia's not what it used to be.
BILLBOARD DEFINES 1-hit Wonder as a group with only one song in the US HOT 100’s top forty positions. Talk talk fits that criteria (It’s My Life at 31). NO DOUBT VERSION went to number 9

This video makes me wonder why Gwen Stefani never became an actress.
she didnt want to would be my guess. I think she enjoys doing exactly what she is doing now.
