In the south being “thick” or having “meat on your bones” is praised. Growing up my Grandma would feed me and feed me because I was too skinny. This mindset has got to change.

Facts! I’m from California so growing up I never really heard anything bad about my body. But when I traveled to the south, I was attacked relentlessly for being skinny. It’s almost like this type of lifestyle is praised smh Nonetheless, I hope all of these kids and their families are doing well.

But you're right UA-cam was beneficial in helping me with other food options because i like to switch it up even though I know what I need to eat I just needed an expanded menu and meal prep.

20 years ago I know of a mother who had social services involved as they threatened to take her child away due to neglect bc she had made him morbidly obese. He was 8 years old at that point. It’s not love it’s neglect of their health. It’s literally harming a child.
How can she be surprised if she’s the one feeding him??
And the reporter is acting sorry for the mother like she’s not the one responsible- with some sad music in the background. This is a disgrace. Stop playing victim and take charge of your child’s health or have your child taken away. It’s a form of child abuse.

You could take whatever you wanted from the cart for free and sometimes she'd have students help her out/assist her with handing out the snacks. It was pretty popular. There'd even be baked goods occasionally, like little cinnabuns or apple crisp. Honestly, it was a really good idea looking back and I think every school should have something like that.

Edit: People are really mean. Let us remember this is a child, who didn’t choose her parents and doesn’t choose her meals either. When I say she is beautiful, I mean she has the want to change. I see a girl who doesn’t feel beautiful, but knows what she has to do to, from such a young age! I see a girl with beautiful features, in spite of the weight. So when I she is beautiful I don’t mean we should coddle her with falsities to appease her ego. But to let her know that she is enough, her character and her charm are just as beautiful. As are her want for a healthy future. I see the girl she is and the girl she is becoming as one being.

Forcing is not a good technique, however my own anecdote is... when I didn't eat something on my plate my mother didn't fuss or say anything. She put the plate aside. Then when I got hungry again, she would present the same plate and said i won't be getting anything else until I finished what was on the plate. So thanks to her patience, I don't have any food problems, I can eat practically anything put in front of me. My sister was more difficult, but my mother put it also into perspective for us. She took us to homeless shelters showing us to be grateful for what we were given because many have much less...
