I am 78 and been on OMAD for ages. Feel 50. don't have a doctor and at 5 feet 6 inches weigh 9 stone.
I used to weigh seventeen stone a long time ago. never put any weight on since i lost it. there is somethng you are doindg which you may not realise. Dairy? when you reach a plateau it is always dairy! Drinking too much of the wrong things? change your food (and still be carnivore), fish, and poultry and eggs. Give your system a jolt. h
Have your one meal at mid-day..... Not so long to wait, if you are hungry in the morning, and not so long to last before you go to bed; and,... you can't eat pork scratchings if you don't have any, can you?
After all, nothing tastes as good as feeling thin.
look forward to seeing you next week.

@paulclark4147 yes, it's certainly a long haul for some. I'm definitely sticking at it. Just heading my stomach mostly.
Some days I can barely eat a few mouthfuls, other I eat loads.
I'm not forcing food into me to get the right amount of protein every day. That doesn't work for me. I think it can work for the majority, just eating meat every day and magical things happy. However, for some of us, we have to experiment and find our own way ❤️

I’m 61 & have been on carnivore for 19 months. Lost 45 lbs, met my goal 6 months ago. You have to eat more fat, less protein. I ate 80% of my calories from fat, 20% from protein the first 10 months while I was healing my body of fibromyalgia & a host of other things. Dropped to 70/30 for 6 months, now I’m sticking with about 65/35 with a few strawberries & avocado. I HAD to give up all dairy except butter. Dairy makes me inflamed & I gain weight. I eat 1 gram of protein for each lb of ideal body weight. Hang in there, nothing tastes as good as I feel!!

I stalled on carnivore for a year.
After an epic sugar binge Easter season of 2023, I had ballooned up 20 lbs to 360. I lost 70 on keto a few years ago and wasn't having issues with holiday candy, but put it all back on plus 20 that Easter.
Loved the idea of carnivore but it took me a couple months of research before I took on the 30 day elimination challenge. Dropped 60 lbs in 2 months and then proceeded to slack off and have a few treats, kept drinking 2 liters of Diet Coke a day, cheese, cashews, then the chocolate bars came back in and by the end of the 2024 Easter season I'd gained 10.
Jumped on BBB&E carnivore the middle of June. Quit all beverages except plain water and have stayed strong, which has netted me a 28 lb loss in 8 weeks. I've broken the 300 plateau (290ish for a couple of weeks now), where I spent a lot of years managing not to exceed 300. As you may know your body will have trouble breaking through previous set weights.
My next big set weight is at 285 and then 250. I need hip and back surgery and need to get down to 240 before the surgeon will operate, so I'm motivated. Walking with 2 canes or a rollator. On nonstop Tylenol and Advil.
I'm rooting for you. As Dr. Berry and many carnivores have said; doing 95% carnivore may not be enough, especially if you're stalled. Go for the 100% for 30 days and see how it goes.

Sweet lady, I am right there with you! I’ve gained 15lbs since April. I did join a gym and I now do CrossFit 2 to 3 times per week, which is absolutely ridiculous, hard and hateful. I’d do it more often but I’m just so darned sore. But my strength and balance are improving so I’m sticking with it. I enjoy escaping the reality of the world more often than I should with a margarita. One terrible vice. I like heavy cream on my coffee. Another vice. I don’t have maladies so I simply have two goals: being thin and warding off future illness. I went strict carnivore in March of 2022 and zip! 30lbs gone so quickly. I then discovered heavy cream in my coffee and my weight loss stopped. Like you, I know what I need to do and I need accountability. It’s hard to find it inside the family and local community, that’s for sure. I’ve got to want it more than I want a nice gentle buzz that makes the insanity of the world not matter. I’ve got to want it more than my morning Joe. It’s hard though when you feel like, ‘darn it, I’ve earned these small pleasures! I work hard and eat clean 98% of the time dammit!’ But at our menopausal age, apparently there is no wiggle room. We’re either fat and “happy “ or think and militaristic. Which will I choose? Hmmm. Good on you though! You rock and you’ll get back at it, I just know it!!

I agree with you that the margarita and heavy cream contribute to our mental well-being, for me especially after a hot day working on the ranch (all on foot-great exercise!) and that delicious coffee to pry the eyes open at sunrise. This does slow down the weight loss. For me it is okay. Because most of my food is steak and salt, and a lot of water. I lose pounds quickly and gain very loose ugly hanging skin this way. But I feel great, and find that couple of creamed cups of "Joe" help me very much. We are all individuals and just need to remember to enjoy the benefits of carnivore eating and be thankful for the blessings we gain from it. For me I only have to remember how it felt before I started eating right, to keep me on track. My dogs are all carnivore, too, by the way. Fit shape and glossy coats on burger and raw home - raised eggs, and all the grasses and lambs quarters to nibble on if they want.

But I do have fruit and a few other things, and I know that’s probably what’s keeping my weight on. But, I stick to no sugar or carbs (low carbs) and no processed foods and I know my gut is still healing. I walk a mile 4-5 x a week and do some exercise videos a few times a week. I feel so much better than before I started so I trust the process. I was prediabetic, had joint aches and pains (was heading towards knee replacement), fatigue, headaches and heartburn. The weight training will definitely help as we lose 1% of muscle mass per year after the age of 40. If your body doesn’t take in enough protein, it will break down lean tissue to get what it needs. However, if you are on a carnivore diet hopefully you will be getting enough protein for your requirements, so it sounds as though you don’t have enough muscle to help with fat burning and not in a calorie deficit. For the weight training, I suggest 2x a week upper body, 1x a week lower body and 1x a week full body and one HIIT/Tabata session. The Tabata sessions will give the body stress, as all exercise does, but the upside is that it will manage the stress in the body the rest of the time. (Inflammation is a big problem in our older bodies with menopause.) Fit in two sessions of yoga on separate days in between the weight training to help with stretching out the muscles and these two days act as ‘rest days” for the body. We take longer to recover from exercise as we get older. Finally, try to walk for an hour a day. This is a stress reliever and will help lower cortisol levels in the body, help with sleep (poor sleep can inhibit weight loss), and help with fat burning. Yes, it’s a lot of exercise to fit in, but needed to help with metabolism. If you plan all this into your week, you should see results. I am not on a carnivore diet, but on the same journey of weight loss in my late fifties. It’s a long hard road.

@@carnivorecampers Dr. Jason Fung tells his patients that multi-day fasting should be followed by "feasting" days of 2-3 meals, not just back to OMAD immediately. He also does not recommend OMAD for long time periods. He says the body interprets that as calorie restriction and lowers metabolism in response. I know OMAD is widely recommended and I don't know how to reconcile that. Maybe trial and error to see what works for your body.

You answered your question beginning at the 2:25 mark. Especially the sugar free jelly; the artificial sweeteners are actually way worse than white sugar in every way, especially in that since the body doesn't know what to do with it, it stores it as fat by default. You need to follow the BBBE plan exactly with no substitutes for at least 90 days to clean out your system and you will un-stall your progress and lose the remaining weight you want to. Drink nothing but water and use Ultima brand electrolyte drink mix to both give you some flavor if that's important to you and help you get through the "keto flu" phase.

What do you drink? Just plain water is best. Try to cut coffee-> cause coffee beans are plants. Dont eat too much diery products, some peps cannot stand too much diery. And at least they have to be full fat, best raw. Maybe you have too much bacon/Pork. Do not use seed oils to cook the meat, just butter better meat fat. This is wrong actually. I've been stalled for about 3 years now and I've literally only just realised, after my son said to me "why don't you just do what you did before" that losing fat on carnivore is about your energy in. If you eat loads of energy - fat, your body will not use its own fat as energy.
What we need to do is while we have some fat to shed, is stop adding extra fat. Just eat the meat with its own fat and that's it. If you want to go a step further, eat lean protein only for a few days and for a few days off, eat your regular diet with animal fat. The weight will come off. Just make sure you're getting in at least 1g per lb of protein that is equally to your ideal weight for your height. Then when you get to your ideal weight, adjust the fat levels to maintenance.

I can help, and explain. To zero in on specific goal, to keep progressing/losing fat, at some point, it come down to details. So calories of fat/meat etc consumed daily. This is not what we want to hear, but it is fact. Weighing food for awhile, really can help here, as not only do you only consume what your REQUIRE, but you also build a relationship with accurate visual portions and still feeling satiated.
    Now, I have questions:
    - how long of walks, time and distance, do you go for each day? Just one?
    - how brisk(fast) is it, are there any hills?
    - when you say fasting, do you mean drinking water, or not, as dry fasting burns up 3 times more fat.
    - how often are you consuming dairy or sugar free sweeteners?

    • @carnivorecampers

@@carnivorecampers Okay, so while weight training is good for strength, it does not use fat calories, it uses glycogen/glucose(anaerobic) calories. So while it will maintain lean mass, which does help burn more calories. Its not going to make you leaner, unless you start measuring calories of meat/fat.
Cardio exercise(is aerobic) on the other hand, so it does use fat for energy, so walking, an Elliptical Trainer, or a Recumbent bike in front of the TV are also really worth considering. Swimming is also excellent, as it is a no impact exercise that is more fun for some. Energy after exercise increases after cardio too.
You had mentioned eating jello and a few other things is why I asked about sugar free sweeteners, while they do not store fat(like glucose does), they do prevent us from using fat for energy. Hope this helps.

I have been there too. Check out Jason Fung's video on UA-cam, "Practical Fasting".
When you eat your body stores what you cannot burn at that time as fat. As the day goes on your body pulls that fat out of storage to burn as energy. If you eat more meat, fat, etc. than your body can burn you will end out gaining weight.
    Best wishes

I have butter and lard in my coffee, at lunch I have beef and a croissant with loads of butter. A few hours before bed I have another few bites of butter with salt. Some days I’d eat egg yolks with some beef and butter. High fat is good for our hormones in menopause. Needless to say, when I started eating the extra fat, each morning I measured and I’d lose a pound. It was unbelievable til I saw it! I recommend trying it. People eat too much these days. When we stall, we need to stay with red meat, butter and water for a while until we drop another pound. Weigh every 2 weeks to monitor for stalling. Don't let a stall go for months without an intervention. Also, cheating backfires.

For most people loosing 3 stone in 8 months on any dietary change is amazing and will carry on but this does happen you do need to give it a weeks break
It could be not enough salt in fizzy mineral water or salt on food
It could be your not getting enough fats like lard so your body is storing it
It could be your not eating till you are full enough
Add cold butter to your meals
    Sausages every now and then
But its a matter of you keep doing you your amazing

Lovie. You might want to check out if you have Lipoedema. I had been on Carnivore for 2 years and got to a point where my body just would not give up the weight. Although I lost 6 kgms, my body was exactly the same shape and I couldn't get rid of any more weight.

My conclusion is that carnivore suits some and Whole food plant based suits others. Experiment and see what works for you.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I've listened to people in many camps. Carnivore makes the most sense to me. I've been vegetarian. I've done the Atkins diet. I lost 3st with Keto. However, I did resort to eating Keto puddings and anything with almond flower in it. For me, not having those options is best. ❤

At the end of the day, post menopause you may need a calorie deficit, aerobic and resistance training to lose weight. I’m post menopausal and you cannot build muscle on diet alone. I started keto back in 2016 when no one knew what Keto was. I barely exercised and lost fat and built muscle. I was ketovore and I barely ate veggies and I was strict almost no carbs. Unfortunately I cannot do that now. I’m gaining fat and losing muscle post menopause. Build the muscle and you will have an easier time losing the fat, if that’s your goal. The weight may stay the same, because muscle weighs more than fat so take measurements and rely on how your clothes fit. I also notice that as your health improves it will be easier to balance out your fat and muscle, but don’t hyper focus on the scale weight because it’s honestly not healthy and it’s rooted in a lie because fat weighs less than muscle and post menopause you absolutely need that muscle. Get a scale that measures your fat and muscle and tracks the percentages gained/lost over time. Good luck to you! I’m in the same boat so completely understand. We got this! 😅♥️💯

Calorie balance is still the most important part of weight loss, regardless of the type of foods you're eating. A lot of people lose weight quickly on carnivore initially, because they are drastically cutting calories, but they don't notice it because carnivore foods are so satiating. Also, your body is highly adaptable. It wants to maintain body fat as a hedge against starvation. As you lose weight, your metabolism slows, and what was a calorie deficit in the beginning becomes your new baseline. Then you need to cut calories even further, or increase exercise, to break through the plateau.

You answered your own question, if you eat outside or carnivore it stops working. I have done the same thing so I am speaking from experience. I find I can get back into the swing by doing intermittent fasting, 16 hr fast and then nothing but meat.

I have switched from fasting in the morning to eating first thing in the morning and I've heard from other women that they need to eat first thing in the morning or it messes with their hormones. So I finish eating about noon or one and then I'm done for the day. It works really well for me. Men can do all right with skipping breakfast, but women not so much. What was your fasting windows?

Carnivore can create a stress on the body, causing it to produce stress hormones like cortisol. This mild stress can make you hold on to weight. It would be exacerbated by the mental stress of trying to stick to the diet. You may want to experiment with adding a small amount of fruit or veggies, in line with the keto diet, just to tell your body that it’s safe. ❤

What? Cashews are the least keto of all the nuts! Macadamias, walnuts or nothing, and definitely limit the walnuts.
Pork contains omega6 from their food.
Sausages contain god only knows what.
Dairy fat is allegedly more anti-inflammatory than tallow, whish is neutral.
Beef might contain sufficient fat content but once you had enough peotein for your daily needs you can choose to slowly eat some fat until satiety to avoid the extra carbs from the excess protein. This is tricky to get right.
Mist likely your weight is not the greatest of your remaining health problems and your body is prioritizing correctly and telling you that thru satiety/hunger.
Also, fast weight loss is not a sign of a good diet. Your body image needs time to adjust. People gain weight slowly even when eating healthy food to excess so it's not surprising the opposite is also true.
    Cheers!

One thing to keep in mind possibly is that your body is struggling. Dr mindy Pelz talks about what happens post menopause with the job of producing hormones previously produced in the ovaries now being made in adrenals. It may be your adrenals are overworked - if fasting a lot stresses adrenals that increase cortisol etc. I just read it, doesn’t mean I know what I’m talking about. Elizabeth Bright’s book ‘fat is good for women, menopause’ and mindy Pelz ’fast like a girl’ both excellent resources for explaining what’s going on and what to do about it. Good luck

Since you are already carnivore, have you thought about maybe mixing that with the 5:2 plan? On the 5:2 plan, you take your calories down to 500 calories two non-consecutive days per week.
I do intermittent keto, specifically the 5:2 plan (more like 4:3), and I make my down days keto. Years ago, keto didn't work for weight loss, but I got all the other benefits of it. The 5:2 plan was really disappointing every time I tried it until I started lowering my down day carbs to keto levels. Everything changed in an instant.
I hope you are willing to give it a shot. Good luck!

Try adding a bit more variety into your diet, try some lamb and use duck fat instead of butter. Having some wild caught salmon as well and avoid the bacon which is full of nitrates and is processed. Re- addressing your “Why” and your “Goal” may also be helpful. I wish you well on your carnivore journey and most of all be kind to yourself - good luck !!!
