Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes - loved the world over, they come in many different forms! The pancakes of Ireland are quite different to the pancakes of America, so after finding somewhere that could provide us with a selection of proper American pancakes. We sat down our resident Irish People to see what they thought of these American-style pancakes!

I've cooked breakfast for 30 years in a fairly busy restaurant and I can count on one hand how many times I have made a Benedict involving a pancake and we had 7 to 10 Benedicts on our menu. Dermot's reactions were far more enthusiastic when they ate IHOP in Florida. I also wonder if Clare has ever had real maple syrup not flavored corn syrup. The difference is night and day
You can have ALL the maple syrup, I’ll take the Mrs. Butterworth!
@@samiam619 I always respect anyone with a sweet tooth but growing up in New England I always got the original Mrs Butterworth a little too sweet for my tastes
But if it's maple flavor she objects to, I bet she wouldn't like it.
What about the Duke? I've never even seen that!😅
I thought the same! Actually never seen a Benedict come with pancakes
The "Duke" is clearly an Irish restaurant's idea of an American pancake combo. Never seen it here at all. The blueberries need to be in the mix, not free roaming. Also, I do like maple syrup but I love Boysenberry syrup on my breakfast items.
ooohhhh Boysenberry is soo good!
You’re missing out: dark choc chips (in the pancake batter), bacon, and maple syrup! Delicious!
Cracker barrel puts 🥞🫐🫐 inside the mix and on top also.
If you check the title of the video it clearly uses the term "American-style" and not "recipe copied straight from America." It uses American style pancakes, because in the UK and most of the world, pancakes usually refer to crepe. Hence why they themselves allude to the differences throughout the video. And it quick Google search shows that it is actually a very popular food combo.
Try maple syrup that's been aged in former whisky barrels (typically bourbon).
You're welcome.
I’ll never get over how the “American” versions of almost everything you guys try is never anything most of us has ever seen in America lol.
I mean I am a culinary student and these flavours are pretty big here but most people keep it simple so they aren't that common, these are the kinds of things you order not the kind you eat at home
True. We don't eat that way LOL.
hahahahaha agreed. I want to know one person who has ever had pancakes with avocado and and hollandaise sauce... We love eggs benedict but that is disgusting lol
Fucking good point!!!!💯
Never have I ever seen or heard of pancakes with poached eggs, smashed avocado, and hollandaise sauce. Ever.
"The Duke" is a pancake version of Eggs Benedict, without the Canadian ham.
Classic American would not use Greek Yogurt, but rather Whipped Cream.
Never have I ever heard of putting hollandaise or avocado on pancakes. I say leave Eggs Benedict to the English muffin with ham, eggs, and hollandaise, and let pancakes stay pancakes. The second I read the ingredients for The Duke, I started feeling ill. (American)
I don't know everything about everywhere in the US, but I have lived in 7 states and visited 35...I've never seen or heard of anything remotely like the "duke". I get the pancakes are American style (instead of being like crepes), but some of these toppings are not at all "normal". Peanut butter and banana, butter and syrup, various fruits and creams, cinnamon, chocolate chips....the list goes on, but none of it is avocado and hollandaise.
Classic Diabetic
@Michael Slattery it's a thing in fine dining but it's far from the norm here
@Taters Precious if it helps any even here it would be more likely a savoury potato pancake than a sweet one, it's actually a great combination if you have the right cakes and a good sauce
Maple syrup and bacon is definitely more classic than the Sweetie here in the states.
I agree. Typically the Nutella, strawberries and bananas are saved for crepes. But yum nonetheless.
💯
Well, most of us. My pancakes are either on a separate plate, or they get eaten last to avoid the syrup contaminating anything. I HATE salt & sweet together. Syrup gets on my bacon, it gets rinsed off.
Blueberry pancakes are my absolute favorite! But I prefer to mix them into the batter and then cook the pancakes..the blueberries are warm and explode in your mouth, with loads of butter and syrup=perfection ❤️
You got it, Boss ! That's the way to do it.
You're making me tear up with hunger.
Wrong. Blood pancakes are best.
@@UltraCasualPenguin I haven’t tried those but I’m willing!!
I like it both ways, the fresh blueberries lighten things up while the cooked ones remind me of the most underrated and most American of the traditional pies, the blueberry pie
As an American, and a pastry chef, my FAVORITE pancakes I’ve ever made/had are:
- limoncello (a lemon pancake with a lemon glaze on top)
- strawberry pancakes with strawberry syrup (a strawberry compote/simple syrup mixture)
- banana foster pancakes (a banana pancake with a custard and banana foster drizzled over)
- bacon pancakes (the thing from Adventure Time, made them and *mwah* chefs kiss)
- a Dutch Baby. It’s not American, but it needs to be on this list, because it’s literally the best thing I’ve ever had
- The Elvis (peanut butter, banana, and bacon on top of the pancakes, and drizzled with syrup
Ugh, Dutch Babies are FANTASTIC.
Banana Foster pancake sounds good (add vanilla ice cream); please explain the Dutch Boy one please!
Love all of the ones you listed
Banana foster are hella delicious. Also caramalized cinnamon apples, stored into the batter onto the flat top yummy
I prefer savoury pancakes (yes I'm American) as I'm sire you know they are a lot more common in finer dining and are largely more common in Ireland (boxties)
I've only ever made them in class but I enjoy them when I'm out and about (I know this darling little pub that I used to go to every week, they serve a havarti burger that's to die for)
Hello, Dear Clisare, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I was born in this city 77 years ago. It's always been my home.
You are an absolute delight! Your attempt at "Milwaukeese" was considerably better than any attempt of your lovely accent I've ever heard here. That being said, Luv, it was hysterical!
I've loved you and your friends since before you were TRY. Stay safe Be Well
Well, living in Milwaukee for 58 years, she Could have done better or no!! Go Pack!!!
As an American, I've never heard of "The Duke" (nor anything with those various ingredients assembled together), but it looks amazing.
Came here to say this. What Americans are they talking to? Must be from California.
Right? I just like my eggs on the side and what's with the avocado🤔
I tried pancakes with Benedict eggs and hollandaise. Super rich, but so good!
@@jen-heartofglass7339 Probably best to go for full-on guac. Or perhaps salsa verde?
@@sebastienbusque2312 No thanks. I'll save those for my tacos 😂
The first set of pancakes is the best. That's real American pancakes
Agree
Except the blueberries would be IN the pancakes.
@@bdwilcox you got that right! Ain't nobody got time for that!
You have to OD on the bacon, syrup, pancake combo!
the first pancake was the best (and the blueberries should be IN the 🥞). After that everything went downhill.
Clisare and Dermot together are a riot. It's very much a crazy siblings vibe.
Good observation. They really do have a sibling vibe. And it’s a great pairing.
LOL....almost spit water all over my screen when Clare did her "Wisconsin" accent and her pronunciation of Milwaukee was hilarious!! Born and raised (49 yrs) Wisconsinite now living in Tennessee. Clare and Dermot are the best pairing EVER. I love love LOVE all the Tryers!.
It's the Alice Cooper bit from Wayne's World. "Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land.""
@@natdatil6830 Try Mil-wau-key! Close but no cigar!
😂 ❤️
I may have fell in love with her a bit while she was doing that! She cracks me up!
@@annek1226 It's a scene from "Wayne's World." It's what Alice Cooper says to Wayne and Garth after his show...
I'm an American born and raised, and i've never heard of ANY of these types of pancakes, save for maybe the strawberries and banana one. Blueberry sure, but bacon is always a side dish - never seen it as a pancake topping.
You've never had pancake-battered bacon?? It's gooooooooooood!
We call Taco Bell a Mexican Restaurant. I think we can let them slide on these.
Dennys has a whole bacon fanatic thing once in a while, and bacon pancakes is definitely on the menu lol
@@pnkilmartin it's better in a waffle
Im with you. Not saying those combos dont exist somewhere in the U.S., they just are not in my area.
I want to know where Clisare gets her cough syrup that tastes like maple syrup. It sounds better than the cough syrup we get in the US which tastes like chemicals and plastic fruit.
Probably cheap artificial maple syrup not actual maple syrup
Clisare hates everything. Either it tastes like cough syrup or toothpaste/mouthwash. Why is she so intent on cleaning her mouth and soothing her throat?! hehe
I’m guessing it is artificial maple syrup. I can’t stand that stuff either.
I know they called it maple syrup, but I have to wonder if it was brown sugar syrup flavored with artificial maple. My mom did that. Hated it in the end.
@@TheNylter
I am from Wisconsin & I can tell you that NO ONE has pancakes with greek yogurt & nutella! In my family, pancakes were a weekend breakfast staple, and it was either buttermilk pancakes w/butter & maple syrup or buttermilk pancakes with blueberries mixed into the batter w/butter & maple syrup. When I was a kid I used to like flavored syrups like boysenberry or raspberry instead of maple...but now it's only maple.
Being a Wisconsin "bred & born" native ... I LOVE Clare's "attempt" at saying Milwaukee (I live 20 minutes drive from there). She's definitely watched too much Wayne's World. Cheers! Oh! And the blueberries should be cooked INTO the pancake you HERETICS!!!!
The avocado is such a weird add on.
You haven't been to California then lol. They add avocado to literally anything and everything.
@@MinecraftMasterNo1 iol idk, they do have a lot of avocado stuff but I've never seen avocado pancakes served
Im so happy, my favorite duo Clare and Dermot 😁🤩
🥰🥰🥰
I haven’t seen them dive in so enthusiastically like this in ages. I love it.
I've been in the U.S., born and raised for 53 years, and never heard of "The Duke" or the "Orange & Caramel"! The Nutella one is kind of new but simply replaced the plain milk chocolate. The other two I get, and there are many like versions like banana foster and such.
Ok. I had to stop the video just so I could comment now. Seeing the excitement on Jamie's face as he stuffs his gob was worth the watch! Go get'em killer!!! 🤣
I wish I could come over and cook for y'all
They just don't know, do they?
Yes, it is frustrating, isn't it? I just think to myself, "If you thought that was good, you have no idea what you're missing."
We Americans LOVE pancakes! We have ‘em for breakfast most of the time. But the way you guys had pancakes is nothing like how I’ve had pancakes.
It's SOOO funny to see Durmont go to the Dark side. HE can't stop eating American pancakes.
As an American the avocado one I have never ever seen.
I've seen plenty of benedicts featuring avocado. Maybe it's a West Coast thing. However, it needs to be served on toast or an English muffin. Not pancakes.
Yes, we do enjoy the occasional avocado w. toast/fried eggs or in tacos but the pancake bit is not a west coast thing! 😂
@@MaraMadeliene I love avocados and eggs here in Alabama...but not on pancakes
You must not be a millennial
My husband loved pancakes with apple butter spread over them instead of syrup.
Sounds good to me. Or pumpkin butter
God, YES.
That's a great idea, I'll definitely do that.
I like cookie butter 😋 and maple syrup is my favorite so that's saying something lol
Mmmm….apple butter. Think I might like it mixed into the batter versus spreading it on top.
I think my fave is when the panel of reviewers have a completely varied range of responses. Genuinely love it when half the people adore it, and the others are lukewarm or outright hate it. the human tongue is a diverse beast
Yeah, these are American style pancakes, but the toppings (with the exception of bacon and maple syrup) are pure European. Hollandaise? Mascarpone? Avocado?! You MIGHT find them, but it'll be extremely rare. Edit: just to clarify, I'm not saying you won't find those ingredients, it's just that you aren't especially likely to find them on pancakes.
Hollandaise is on eggs Benedict. It’s everywhere in the US, just not on pancakes.
@@midniteillusion3 I'm familiar with hollandaise, I just meant you won't see it on pancakes.
@@saena971 I could see served it in fruitcake California or Vermont.
Or you’re probably in California 😂
@@shinner65 Maybe in San Francisco, but the rest of us here in California would never contaminate our pancakes with hollandaise and avocado. Those go on eggs on an English muffin, not on pancakes.
This should bring back memories for Dermot from when the group was in America a couple of years ago.
Clisare, you’re tooooop funny!!!!!
Ciara and Aidan, always a good match, you two play very nicely together with a great deal of fun!
Paul and Jamie…..thank God there’s no IHOP restaurants in Ireland. You two would be smashing the pancake all you can eat days! Great shoot, always nice to see the TRYers having a good time! Blessings to you all 💖
I also wanted to suggest 'Drunk Irish people try folding a bottom sheet '
I would watch the pairing of George and Dermot screaming aggressively-unhelpful instructions at each other while loaded more than a double-barrelled shotgun, over and over and over.
I like it, but could we clarify it’s a fitted sheet we’re talking about.
@@CAP198462 You're right. I had thought they were ALL fitted ones
You know, I keep wondering which of the Tryers would rage-quit first.
@@steveolson2095 I feel Dermot would be the easy money bet, but I might have to go with one of the red headed girls for the big payout. I dated too many redheads to not admit they have a certain level of hidden psycho buried deep inside. You're in there folding sheets, when suddenly, the clouds roll in and thunder/lightning and she's screaming at you for your left hand being on the wrong side of your body.
I can't get into the idea that psychotic behavior is linked to hair color or gender, even though I realize you are making a joke about your dating preferences.
Much more likely would be a control-freak. The challenge of trying to fold a fitted bottom sheet would be guaran-damn-teed to send such a person over a mental cliff.
I can see the control-freak finishing with a neat little bundle in front of them, then absolutely losing their shit trying to instruct the other person on the team how to do it.
I second this idea. A variation could also be drunken dexterity challenges.
They need to try authentic Mexican breakfast!!! Huevos rancheros, migas, chorizo con papas 🤤
My gf made me huevos rancheros for the first time at the beginning of the year, so amazing.
Rojo huevos
Huevos Rancheros is one of my favorite things to make for breakfast.
There is an old facts video (the pre-cursor to Try channel) where they try mexican breakfasts.
@@LadyAurian thanks for the info. 😊✌
Love your show but I've never had any combination of pancakes that you had on here. Avocado? blech Very entertaining to watch though. Lived in Kansas for 58 years and we usually put the extras in the batter and then cook it. The reactions are Epic.haha
That first fork full, Jamie Jay's eyes looked like they were about to pop right of his skull 🤣
They loved those pancakes but you could tell Clisare was sick of Dermot’s crepe! 🥞
😆
A little bit more shenanigans and Dermot would have been battered.
Take your flippin' like and get out.
Texan here, and my favorite way to eat pancakes is on a separate plate with your choice of syrup, fruit, whipped cream, chocolate chips, etc. Something sweet. Then on a separate plate, salty eggs...bacon, sausage or ham and fried potatoes (hash browns). Then you take turns...salty, sweet, salty, sweet, salty, sweet.
When I heard Clisare's Wisconsin accent as I looked away for a moment, it was so perfect I thought my own family was on the video.
😅😅😅
When she said Wisconsin maybe.... but Mil-a-waukee? I think not.
Never seen eggs Benedict pancakes in the US, so that seems like a rather specific place/area item, but the others seem like things more places in the US might have. Most Americans still stick to plain butter & maple syrup on them, though…with MAYBE chocolate chips or blueberries in the batter.
lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote should be an option
OH YEAH!!!
Welcome I'm considering they're supposedly trying to do common American pancakes you find in places, that wouldn't make sense, since most people have never seen or heard of that flavor combo😅
That's what I love about the TRY Channel -- the authentic American accents. It's almost like being here.
OMG "curdled cheese jizz!" I literally ROFLed and was glad nobody was around when i watched this. I love her so much....... Another GREAT shoot as usual. Please do another round of visiting America guys, please!
I have go say as a person in America who has cooked a lot of breakfasts for a lot of people I would say over a long career less than 100 ordered eggs on pancakes
My mother loved a fried egg on her pancake. But she was first generation American from a British family so that might have something to do with it.
I guess I'm strange. I will get bacon and over easy eggs with a stack, then eat half of my pancakes just buttered and dipped in the yolk. Then I put syrup on (boysenberry if available) and finish them.
Pancakes eggs over easy and cover it in sausage gravy
Sunnyside egrs, maple syrup and sausage links. Sausage links with maple syrup is fantastic.
You may want to check out a Denny's on Sunday morning.😁
The first one would basically be my go to, but I'd separate the berries and the bacon from the pancakes 🥞 I'm a fan of the most basic of pancakes, butter, maple syrup.
I am glad they were all so happy to get their food to try. I hope Sean/Colin got some, too.
My question is whether the bacon was American style or what you get in Ireland and the UK. I like American bacon, but find the flabby pink slabs of pork that they call bacon over there a bit disgusting. Crispy thin slices for me, please!
@@kathyastrom1315 I don't find there is disgusting but I just wish they would call it ham instead of bacon because then I expect our salty crispy slices and I get thin ham. It's disappointing
When Ciara said: Make a sandwich! YEAH! She knows how to eat properly! lol FYI: In 'hole in the wall restaurants' you can get ones that have dedicated 'recipes' or ones that you can 'MAKE YOUR OWN' types where you choose what to put on!!! This is why the show: "Diners, Drive-in's and Dives" is such a hit!
After all the years following this channel, I'd love to see Irish People Try Irish Food. I have no idea what they consider normal or extravagant. Seriously please consider it!
American here. Just like to point out that blueberry pancakes are made with blueberries IN the batter. Would it be possible to have Ciara and Clare gilded or given some kind of award just for being themselves and for bringing out the best in whoever they're paired with? I admit to a pronounced bias.
🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
I wholeheartedly agree.
I'm Canadian and pancakes have been a staple breakfast food since I was young. I also enjoy omelets and French Toast.
I have lived in nine different states and never had any of the pancake combos you were served today. Glad you had fun enjoying the pancakes.
4:45 - as a life-long St. Louisan who has absolutely nothing against Milwaukee, but thinks the Brewers can go eat it, hearing "Milwaukee" pronounced this way gives me a special smile.
Some things need to be home cooked. Unless you are at IHOP. I still love their pancakes. Y’all made blueberries look difficult, lol.
I like IHOP as well. They're way better than Denny's.
Dermot and Clisare have to be my favorite Try "couple"!!
Pairing?
Dermot and Claire are my new favorite pair...Aidan and Ciara work well together too. Heck, Jamie and Paul compliment each others personality too. Thumbs up. GREAT MATCH-UPS !!!
Clare and Dermot bring out the brilliant in each other. So snarky and hilarious.
Clisare you broke my cheeks making me laugh that hard. You all were too funny. I miss pancakes, I used to do a pb&j by adding a spoonful of jam in the mixture then spreading on peanut butter. Lost my mind in the yum
NEVER seen such a combo as the 2nd and 4th. The first one was the closest to standard American, which would be just butter and maple syrup with side of bacon or sausage.
The cast of the Try Channel are all Super Stars in my book!...
As someone else said, American pancakes with European toppings. The maple syrup with blueberries is the closest to something we'd have. But, as other people have said, the blueberries are IN the batter. If you want to go American add chocolate chips to each scoop of batter. After they're cooked add butter in between the layers of pancakes, add peanut butter to each pancake, and then top that with syrup. I say "American" but I honestly don't know how many Americans put peanut butter on their pancakes. I know I do, and it's freaking amazing. Plus, we love our peanut butter.
Oh, don’t come to Canada and say maple syrup tastes disgusting. I could honestly drink it out of a glass.
And now I'm thinking of them chugging maple syrup in Super Troopers (which I know is not Canadian, but still).
@@TheGelasiaBlythe
Maple syrup is a beverage choice in Canada.
They probably aren't using real syrup but that flavored corn syrup stuff.
@@ocularnervosa no, in the behind the scenes documentary, they reveal that it was actual maple syrup, and it took several takes. I can't even imagine!
Yup - the real thing is much better than the artificial ones..
I've never seen so many people on one channel hate the simplest of things: Peanut butter, chocolate, and now maple syrup?! Maddening.
I hate maple syrup. It doesn't belong on anything.
You're welcome.
To be fair, they're probably using that fake "pancake syrup," or as I call it: "Vaguely-maple-ish flavored phlegm."
@@onespiceybbw Are you talking about real maple syrup, or Log Cabin? Because unless it flowed like water, it wasn't real maple syrup.
The Log Cabin, Mrs. Butterworth, et. al. is all "Vaguely-maple-ish flavored phlegm." The real stuff is nothing but flavor, is only slightly thicker than water, and a little goes a long way.
As a child we would pick at breakfast for what we considered the best parts. My Grandmothers answer was to get two strips of bacon put an egg between them and when the egg was about half done she would cover it with pancake batter. Flip it out,put on some butter and syrup and you have one of my favorite growing up memories.
Always so fun to watch!
Clisare's fear of Dermot gas was REAL!
Hahahaha this was great! Well-done everyone!
I just love the Try people. After a crappy day at work, this was just the thing I needed to cheer me up.🙂
It’s lovely to see everyone enjoying most of everything 😊😊😊
As a Wisconsinite that was quite the .... Wisconsin accent Clisare did there....
When I was growing up, butter and syrup were the only things we ever had on pancakes. If it was really special occasion there might be blueberries or bananas in the batter. Never anything savory, just sweet. I know people have been adding bacon to everything the past decade or so but even that seems a bit sketchy for pancakes. Eggs are just outright wrong.
Savory pancakes are a thing in America but not like this. Typically the savory pancakes ive eaten have bacon and cheese mixed in the batter with butter on the side. I've never even heard of hollandaise on a pancake. Bet it's good but it's usually eaten on an Eggs Benedict
Once again comedic gold, and honest food critique being produced by The Try Channel. Dermot and Clisare together had me cracking up. Ciara and her partner were adorable together. Paul and friend did real well in critiquing the food. Thank you for an excellent video .
After a stressful and tumultuous day... that was great. Thanks for sharing.
For all the shit sandwiches that the TRYERs have had to endure, its good to see you get some good chow for a change. Respect from US.
As an American, I only like to have real butter and a light drizzle of real maple syrup on my pancakes. No margarine and no fake maple syrup. Also no fruit or weird sweet syrups/sauces.
Same here, but real maple syrup is almost impossible to find at restaurants because it's so expensive.
All that extra goop takes away from the flavor of the cakes!
@@LoveClassicMusic0205 we're fortunate that we can get grade A pure maple syrup from Vermont or Canada in most grocery stores. It is not fresh from the tree but I live in the central US so I'll take what I can get.
To me, the fake syrup is vaguely-maple-ish flavored phlegm. Real, extra dark all the way, baby!
@@brhop1982 Don't worry, there's no such thing as, "fresh from the tree." The stuff lasts for _years_ with no change to it.
Maple sap is basically sugary water with a faint flavor. It has to be boiled down until it's ⅔ sugar (I think; it's somewhere between that and 60%). At that point, there's so little water in the syrup that anything trying to grow in it actually has the water pulled out of it killing it from dehydration!
And it's bottled hot in sterilized containers, so its shelf life is absurdly long. Even after opening, if you leave it in the fridge, it'll keep for a loooong time.
Now, it _is_ possible, _after_ you open it _and leave it_ unused and open _for 7-10 _*_years,_* that something will start growing on the surface. But _only on the surface,_ where water from the air could slowly dilute the exposed syrup. The rest of the syrup is still absolutely sterile, believe it or not. Just skim the crap off of the top … or pour it out _slowly_ through a mesh strainer … put it into a pan, then heat it _just_ until it starts to boil. That temperature is hot enough to kill anything, so you've just resterilized the syrup. Pour the hot syrup directly into a clean jar. Put the lid on the jar, leave on the counter until cool enough to hold it, then put in the fridge. You're good to go.
But it's really, really rare for that to ever happen. Maple syrup is seriously durable.
The _sap,_ on the other hand, will spoil withing 24 hrs of collecting.
love these videos!!!
this was just FUN!! Dermot's eyes- so incredible.
I want to say this, I've talked to my coworkers about try channel.
It is the consensus that Americans have to learn more about Europe. All of you know more about us than we do about you. That is a shameful.. I'm guilty too.. but you're teaching me. Thankyou
I can't find a channel about Europe except for what tourists shouldn't do. All the other channels seem to be what Europeans think about America.
Dermit and Claire!!! It's nice to see you guys. I love all the castles just damaging certain pieces in a while respect to all. The dating of Pancakes begin do you have pancakes in Ireland? I'm sure you do but what do you call them curious thank you all for the LAUGHS
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😀💯👏👏
They have crepes which they call pancakes. In Scotland I have seen some actual pancakes but my friend buys them in a 6-pack cold in the store and they just eat them cold like with their hands. It's really weird. You can get them with syrup as a snack some place at some cafes but it's kind of interesting because the Maple syrup is so dear to them
Try'rs y'all rock! Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
Clisare always cracks me up. So hilarious!!!🤣🤣🤣
🥰
Crepes are different from pancakes for us. Crepes are thin and can be sweet or savory, pancakes are generally served sweet with syrup and or fruit.
Savoury pancakes are a thing but they are much more a thing in pubs
They are often called boxties and are traditionally Irish (which is amusing) although the Duke flavour combo is actually pretty big in American fine dining
Dad says he is nearly 70 and has never heard of the Duke and he has lived all over the US. He suspects this is a California variation and just says "No". Hollandaise sauce and avocado are a crime against pancakes, sorry Clisare.
I'm Californian and I totally agree. Avocado on pancakes is a crime. Hollandaise sauce too! Lol Never seen that anywhere in California
@@joshjones6072 Dad says to apologize to you and all Californians, but it did seem like something some out there would do. He is glad he was wrong.
Yeah, this seems like what the Irish think American pancakes are like.
Love watching y’all try foods for the first time. The variety of what you can do with a simple pancake. Pancake fried egg bacon samich 😋😘 love y’all from Colorado,USA
All time Favorite Tryers!
I loved runny yoked eggs on top of my pancakes and the yolk mixes with the syrup yum
You have issues
For the first one, the berries need to be in the pancakes. That second one is not an American pancake style. The third one, should be whipped cream, not greek yogurt. Third one isn't something you will find around very often. HOWEVER I would devour all of them except the second one. American pancakes should never ge savory, lol.
Agrees in American
I never would have thought to put yogurt on pancakes but that sounds AMAZING!!
From the Disney world trip in Orlando I remember Dermot absolutely loved all the different pancakes on that video.
The Duke must be some kind of yuppie thing, I've never seen anything like that before in my life
It's a take on "avocado toast eggs benedict," substituting the pancakes for the toast and omitting the Canadian bacon entirely. Why they named it the Duke I have no idea.
"The Duke" is definitely not a classic American pancake. Eggs Benedict is not usually served with avocado or on pancakes. It's bizarre.
The avocado is usually part of the California Benedict which is the English muffin, avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.
Oh, dear Lord... y'all made me laugh so hard I literally had tears in my eyes! Thanks, I needed that.
Love it, Milowalky! I laughed out loud! LOL
Has anyone from America actually eaten The Duke cause I've never even heard of it or eaten anything like it. I do love those ingredients but together...
No thats just wrong. And I'm Californian haha
@@joshjones6072 I'm from NC and I've never seen it on any type of menu or anything out here either.
How do you not enjoy syrup!! :(
When I was young my father was sick and when my mother got tired of making 2 different meals at every meal time we started having pancakes and sausage for dinner. A lot. To this day I don't hate it but I could look at it and say no thank you
so many hilarious moments in this one!
I now want pancakes. Amazing group, fun as always 😊
I just don't get the fascination with avocado. Falls short in both flavor and texture every time.
The proper way to cover pancakes with maple syrup, is to take the stack of pancakes apart (if you get them as a stack from the restaurant), if you make them at home, put butter and a covering of syrup (to taste, pardon the pun), then put the next pancake down, add butter and syrup, repeat until you have the full stack of pancakes, then add the berries, the syrup will help the berries stick to the top of the pancake stack. Proceed to be a glutton!
“Uhhh let me put it this way harrragghhh” 🤣🤣😝😝😂😂👍 another excellent video 👏👏.
Love to see people happily eating good food. 😁
As an American I can tell you I've never heard of the Duke combo ever. Sounds so gross. And with the first one we make the pancakes with the blueberries in them not plain with blueberries on the side. Also never heard of that last one either
I love you guys so much! How can I send you stuff? I want you to try some of my favs!!!! 😁

As someone from Milwaukee, I'll say Clisare accent is right on! And Dermot I have been to Athlone, a lovely city, with great pubs! Can't wait to visit again.
