Exploring Shoemaker Canyon Tunnels to Nowhere

Shoemaker Canyon Road ends at the trailhead that will lead you to the Tunnels to Nowhere which were nuclear escape tunnels built in the early 1960s in case of a nuclear attack. The Tunnels to Nowhere we supposed to lead you somewhere, connecting the San Gabriel Mountains to the Mojave. In this section of the San Gabriel Mountains, the Road to Nowhere (Shoemaker Canyon Road) takes you to the Tunnels to Nowhere, that overlook the trail to the Bridge to Nowhere.
