[UPDATE! February 23rd, 2013: My $5 are gone...again, and they didn't take the time to email me...again. Also, ppl have now tagged the inside of the mine...due to such disrespect, I will no longer be leaving treasure there anymore]
[UPDATE! January 12th, 2013: I put another $5 in the tunnel, whoever took the last one didn't email me...grrr]
[UPDATE! December 8th, 2012: I put another $5 in the tunnel, but I put this one waaay in the back this time. FYI, the homeless man still lives in the first tunnel...do not disturb him!]
[UPDATE! September 29th, 2012: I was filming the moon and stars from 2:00am - 5:30am. At exactly 3:33am all the coyotes starting howling, the most horrible noise you ever want to hear in the forest when you're alone. Lesson learned: never go alone!]
[UPDATE! July 7th, 2012: As we walked by McNally Tunnel again, the man was still living inside. Please be careful everyone when crossing the tunnel. This time, we didn't say anything to the man and he didn't say anything to us, so just LEAVE HIM ALONE!]
[UPDATE! June 30th, 2012: As we came up to the McNally Tunnel (5:08) my friend looked inside and saw a man living in there. My friend said, "There's a hobo in the tunnel", he repeated it again, then we heard a loud bellow of a man's voice yell "I'm not a hobo!". We ran as fast as we could and crossed the river, the man came out of the cave and yelled "Say that to my face you little punk!". Be very careful when you come across this tunnel and please, don't call him a hobo.]
[UPDATE! April 7th, 2012: I put another $5 in the tunnel, happy hunting!]
[UPDATE! March 12th, 2012: The treasure has been found! =) Late night Temple City High School adventurers Rudy, Nasser, Joseph, Angel, Kim and Angela made the journey into the tunnel and came out winners. Congratulations!]
[UPDATE! March 3rd, 2012: The treasure was no where to be found, it may have washed away =\ so I put another treasure, this time I wedged it between some rocks, however the plastic bag is still visible =) happy hunting!]

Enjoy the hike...and please be careful. Have fun. =)
Oh my god. My friend and I went on this trail a few days ago and we passed the McNalley tunnel and decided to peek in. We heard some voices coming from it and just ran out of there scared to death, thinking it was a ghost. On the way back, we decided to peek in once more and we discovered it was actually some man who had decided to take shelter there. He had about 3 pairs of shoes with him. It was still kind of creepy. It was one of the funniest and scariest events of my life.
I played on this property in the late 1950's. There is no poison ivy in California but Poison Oak. The house was spectacular and we explored every Cave. There was a small fruit orchard that we would eat the fruit on the down hill side of the house. Bill Whitlatch
Hi Bill, thank you, that must've been pretty cool, I wish it was still standing, when was the last time you visited the area..?
I'm assuming Sam and Colby used this!
Back in the 60's I used to hike up this canyon all the time. not well known then it was my place of solitude which was great since I was dealing with so much more drama than any 11 year old should have to deal with. All the old mines were still open back then.
Sorry to hear about that, but I'm also grateful this forest never abandoned me in my moments of solitude, I've always found it peaceful and though I adventured too often in danger I'm glad I've come out a better man that appreciates life again. Can't wait for my daughter to be old enough so she can hike with me =) but she has to learn to walk first lol thank u for sharing your experience, have a great day Maui
I felt like I did some good exercise without sweating and enjoyed the great outdoors minus horrible bugs... Thank you for the upload!
I twisted my ankle 3 minutes Before your Disclaimer; I need to be reimbursed for my Pain and Suffering!
Doesn’t recommend hiking to the cave
Leaves $5
HaHaHa moral of the story..those that don't listen get rewarded
Thanks for the video tour of a very special place in my life, growing up in Altadena and attending the nearby Loma Alta Elementary school, I used to hike this trail and canyon several times a week after school. It was my place of solitude and rarely visited by the general public in the mid 60's. I explored all the mines, they had not been sealed yet. some went back hundreds of feet.
Thank you for your nice comment, I fell in love with this place the moment I first saw it, it was a 30 min drive for me but I even biked from my house in Monterey Park one time cuz this place was just so wonderful...good memories.
How many mines are in Altadena?
Excellent hiking video. One of the best I've seen. Detailed directions and a bit of history. I'm temped to do this tomorrow.
+Robert McGill wow, thank you for the compliment, I'm glad you enjoyed it =)
Hey there again. So I did the hike with my hiking group on Halloween morning. All success, except when you start going up the hills with the 3 left turns at 6:18. We reached a point to make the turn left and climb, however I believe it was an entirely different left. It was pretty steep and filled with thorn bushes so we climbed back down. Everyone made it down safe and we ended up just following the stream and pipes. The tunnel itself was amazing. The water has risen to almost knee deep, which was pretty crazy. Thanks for these videos. We never knew there were mines in so cal aside from Dawn Mine.
Hi, wow that's wonderful..it's a great hiking path cuz not a lot of ppl know about it..sometimes u will see a deer walking down to get a drink from the stream..in my playlist you'll see a video on all the mines in that forest. thank u for sharing
This is a great video! Well done!
Thank u for the nice comment =)
Thanks for posting this. I grew up in Altadena and hiked through these canyons and up Echo Mountain when I was a kid. So it's great to hear you explain the history along the trails. I take my kids up there now (I live in San Fernando these days) and we just watched two of your videos (this one and Echo Mountain and Inspiration Point). Fantastic job and thank you.
Great video. I grew-up in Altadena (attended Eliot Jr. High) 50s thru the 70s but even back then I would not attempt the hike you did on this video. I had a difficult time even hiking to Henniger Flats. But so glad you provided this experience. Thanks.
Love your narration!!! Thank you!
Mark & Emy Shibukawa thank you for your nice comment, have a wonderful weekend and thanks for watching
This was very well done 👍
thank you for the nice comment Vida =)
felt like a video game walk through lol thanks for taking the time!
Great video. Thanks for taking the time.
My bestfriend and I just visited this trail yesterday and we had a blast! We both wanted to thank you for making such a great video and the directions were perfect. We didn't go through the tunnel part because it was getting dark but can you tell me how far it goes? :P
aww thank you for that nice compliment, I'm sure you and Bella had fun =) it's known as Tunnel # 4 and it goes 837ft..the deepest mine in Las Flores canyon..I featured it in my video here: ua-cam.com/video/5BPHEXgP5s8/v-deo.html thank you for watching IG:brotherBvideos
did this hike yesterday. thanks for the video it really helped me a lot. hardest hike ive done so far.
that was great. thanks for the tour!
Anyone here from Sam & Colby?
The Flash yes
awesome video! thanks for making it!!
Wish I would've seen this video yesterday. The farthest we got was to the small little blocked cave. Really good video thanks
Nicely done! I felt as if I were right there with you, minus the blisters. LOL
Thanks for the awesome guided hike video dude!
We're gonna go back up there and make a video and leave $5 dollars too!
We just experienced the anomaly nearby known as Gravity Hill last night. Sooooo freakin awesome!! Thanks again! Great Explorers like you are hard to find these days mate......"Not all that wander are lost."
thank you..it's been fun hiking these trails even after all these years..I still gotta make a video of Gravity Hill lol one day
btw lemme know when you up..I took some UA-cam ppl with me at midnight a couple weeks ago lol have fun and be safe IG: brotherBvideos
@brotherB: I'm so stoked to see this vid!! Great job! When I get to the tunnel, I'll make sure to leave something for the next explorer to discover!! Maybe money, maybe jewelry, a trinket, a bauble or maybe something even more exciting...stay tuned!
tht would be a fun game, to leave something and when someone else gets it, tht they leave something else lol
Never knew any of this stuff thanks for the informative video. Have you done a video on Galister park?
Thanks for the history. We used to hear this place used to be a mental asylum and that it was still haunted. Relief to no that was bs
True, that's how I heard about it, and also that the KKK would do human sacrifices here, I was scared the first time I came and we turned around pretty quickly, but eventually this became my fav place to hike =)
Interesting video, good job. I grew up a couple of blocks south on Mt. Curve ave. Went to elementary school at Loma Alta. We used to play at the front gate to the Cobb Estate.
Its a wonderful place, I came here at night with friends in high school, fell in love with it immediately
Great video! I never knew about this place or Gravity Hill (my curiosity got me from yelp to youtube) until today. I plan on doing both soon!
I'm heading up there tomorrow. I need the 5 bucks.
+triac777 did you get the $5, I didn't see it there last week
I've been there twice and didn't find anything.
I had picked up $5 dollars and didn't know it belong to you till I saw this video today!! Lmfao
@@josedelarosa5424 shut up

Thanks for the info!!
Is this mine still good to explore? I’ve been watching a lot of videos about mine exploration and I honestly really liked it and want to start but I mean obviously nothing dangerous, by the way great videos man! Keep it up, hope to see some new content soon!!
oh yeah, the mine is still there and still creepy, whenever you hike it's good to tell ppl where you're going just in case they need to send out a search party =) thank you for the nice comment
Thanks for the video
What an amazing video I loved it!! Good job! I would love to go but I'm a big chicken lol. I probably would be terrified in the day because of the mountain lions and snakes. Your video make me feel like I've been there though thank you :)
Sweet Lorraine thank u for watching, hope you make it out there one day, its beautiful
Such a great and informative video. Not just a "ooh this place is haunted , so why are we here again?" kinda video
Hahaha thank you, that was a funny and nice comment, take care.
Thats crazy now there is very little water coming from the mine. It still drips to create a small stream
Thank you for the update, I haven't been there in years, I can only imagine how different it is now with all the drought California is having.
I love these videos! :D
thank u Claudia =)
cool video!!! :D
do u normally hike alone??
That mine you found around 5:19 recently had a suit hung up next to it and had a birthday banner hung up on it to. Even during the day it still creeped me out.
yeah there's a man that lives in that cave, he's pretty nice
Really like the informative video
this is an awesome guide
I just hiked up to echo mountain yesterday morning. I use the cobb estate entrance (big gates out front)
that looks scary to go at night lol.. wish i could go maybe someday (: nice video btw!
Hey brotherB, I'm planning on doing some exploring in this area for the first time next week. You mention at 3:23 there is another trail that leads to Tunnel #8. Is this trail fairy clear to spot out all the way through? Or does one need some pre-existing knowledge of where to go at some points?
By the way, you are an excellent filmmaker and I hope you continue making these informational tours for us amateur Indiana Jones out there lol
Hi Disintiorde, I apologize for the late response, sometimes UA-cam doesn't alert me to comments, idk why.. but I hope you made it safely to the Enchanted Forest mine, actually there are several mines in that area, 13..I documented them in a video called The Mines of Las Flores canyon, take care.
i have a question?? once you get to the tunnel this a part where it divides, are they both safe
such a good hike to inspiration point
Great video.. That was cool
thank u for watching my gold mine video,I have a few more
Great video!
Hi Jeff, thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Take care.
Thanks for the directions!! Is that last tunnel still open??
Someone went 1 year ago and was still able to go in.. I'm pretty sure it's still open. Sorry, I haven't been there in several years.
Open i went 3 weeks ago
Great education video, I'll check it out sometime with some friends. Say, did anyone ever e-mail you about the $5? Or have you gone recently and seen the cash no longer trhere? Cheers, and thanks again for the video!
I've put 4 $5 bills but no one ever emailed me..but I stopped putting money after someone sprayed graffiti inside the mine
Have you ever thought of re-recording this tutorial on a more stable camera? It's helpful but tough to keep track of and even a bit disorienting at times.
damn I just found this video a little to late since there is no more treasure. but I will definately take a visit up there thanks for the info.
Thanx this is great!
I am coming from Oregon and would like to explore this. And I have a couple questions for you if you still see this channel :) I lived in Arcadia till I was 23 (10 years ago) and I explored this area but didn’t go as far as this mine. I’d like to explore it now when I travel back to see family. First question: I’m concerned about safety with the homeless man you encountered before, have you recently been up there and is he still there? If so, how should he be approached? Should I offer gifts...like the troll for a bridge? 😂🤗 And my next question is when do you think is the best time of year to do this? I will be doing this hike with at least 4 other people. And I come down from Oregon often to see my family. I do not/ will not record this hike like I don’t do in Oregon either but I like to explore new things. My concern is safety and hiking in the right time of the year. Thank you for this video and the other video about the mines. Hopefully you still see the comments.
Hi Lisa, I'm really sorry I didn't respond before, I was reviewing old comments and I came across yours, sometimes I don't receive comment notifications.. great news though, the homeless man was a Veteran and received government care a few years ago, he no longer lives in the mine..I went there all throughout the year, there isn't really a bad time to go, the best time go to is during summer because it's not so cold at night.. this is really important though, no matter when u go pls be on the lookout for rattlesnakes, look down when u walk and tell ppl when and where you're going in case they need to send a search party or something, let me know how it went =)
did u by any chance run into anything paranormal? im reallly into that stuff so it will be the sole purpose of my visit. hopefully after my birthday so i will be asking for an evp for my birthday c:
What is that red stuff in the tunnel? Let's get samples of that.
This is awesome, you should do more videos but during sunset! Want to explore this because I heard it was haunted haha
I love hiking this trail..I first started coming here at night..that's a good idea, I should make a video at night..Lemme know if you wanna go together IG: brotherBvideos
+brotherBvideos do more hike guide videos please
you are an awesome tour guide.....
I been there yes u are right the road can be very steep
i heard there was an asylum at the haunted forest and is it possible to go in the resinor?
Where is this ? What state
Altadena, California
When I read "Altadena," I wondered if this had anything to do with the old Mount Lowe Railroad. It Does! - LONG LIVE PACIFIC ELECTRIC!
Did you film this with your T3?
Bummer, I just came back from this hike, solo hike, unfortunately, i only got to the reservoir spot, the side trail leading to the mine wasn't visible, it was completely overgrown and i didn't wanna fall down the mountain either so i just did a 180 and bailed. I'll probably go again and try to make my way but i don't wanna step on a rattle snake or trip and roll down the mountain like Patrick star or Chris Farley in the movie Black Sheep lol
How long does this take ? Miles one way
Is it safe to go in those tunnels
Can you do a video on how to get to each tunnel...I would really like to see them all...
Nostalgia got me watching all my videos again..I just saw your comment, but here's a video of all the mines I found in Las Flores canyon: ua-cam.com/video/5BPHEXgP5s8/v-deo.html
Oh and I heard there is a school around the mountain as well if you could point out where that is. Yeah that trail is pretty dope. i didn't know that you could actually climb up there, I wouldn't try that haha. Crap... what happened?
Would you know if there's a map for this trail @brotherBvideos ?I've ventured to the Dawn Mine in Altadena so would love to venture to this tunnel.
I thought about making a map but if u follow the stream, u can't miss it
Ok. thank you for that pointer
OMIGOD I AM SOOOO EXCITED! I REALLLLLLLLLLY WANT TO GO! unfourtanetly all of my friends are big huge babies
So where is this I’m from Colorado
good vid your instructions are so cleer
your gonna go againn??/ woww thats awesome ever since i saww all those thiss im not going backk even though i reallyy want too
is it still for grabs?
Is tunnel 8 accessible? If so, how deep is it?
Not accessible, 455ft, watch this video at 9:20 for more info: ua-cam.com/video/5BPHEXgP5s8/v-deo.html
In "Ghosthunting: Southern California" it references this video and says there's supposed to be an EVP around the 3:00 mark that says "Get out." I heard no such thing. lol
Oh really? I didn't know my video was mentioned anywhere else
*****
Yep! It's in a book :-)
haha man i have been here many times and this video is just making me want to go some more!! the first time i came here i didnt know that this place was supposedly "haunted" and i had a feeling of people following us. haha. i then went another time but i started travelling up the mountain and got scared away by a mountain lion or something like that haha
continued.. this hike is a 5 mile round trip. well on the way back i fell behind my group and I was alone for a good 15 min this whole time I was looking behind me and I swear I could hear someone coming. I would see shadows and light move around ever so slightly out of the ordinary.
I was relived to get back to the group. beautiful hike with a lot of history. Indian history too that's why the area is so haunted.
Eduardo T the first time I came with a group of friends at night we were so scared, the hot and cold air that blew at night really tripped us out..you never know what eyes are lurking out in the woods
9:23 looks like blood 😱
Angelica Beck the rocks bleed of sadness
brotherBvideos creepy lol
Angelica Beck there's a salamander and frogs that swim in the water in the mine, cute..careful when u walk through there
Im coming from Someone else’s video (not gonna name who) they got chased out by some really messed up people after hearing many screams and cries for help my bet is that you shouldn’t trust this guy and it probably is blood and the fact that he’s leading people here with money is very disturbing after what I just watched
Nicole WRose well you never heard of pranks.
how deep is that tunnel ?
Whats up man, im planning on going to the cave tomorrow. Do you think itll be filled with water?
Jose Sanchez there's always water in the mine..but it only goes up to your knees and there's only water at the entrance
brotherBvideos sweet bro, me and my friends we're halfway there but my other friend backed out . But we're going tomorrow to check it out. The vid helps a lot dude!
Have you seen the new mine yet? It's a biggie. Currently being widened, it almost wide enough to enter.
Mine Finder where’s it at??
Is there a picture of a map or something that leads to the tunnel?
Ruth Madrid unfortunately there's no map to the tunnel, but follow the steam, you won't miss it, trust me
Where is it
Video seems to be gone. I wanted to check something but ... oh well.
You're very thorough in your video. Cool bananas
What state is this?
are you talking about this sat night on the 18th? cause im going there with my friends for the first time :) we can meet up lol
That was tight man. Great editing process. You gotta take me there. Go COD on those trails... Lol
Plz do the 3 mile one really interesting !
thank u! -.-
at 9:15, when in the cave do you not hear a light low giggle or am I just hearing shit
aby valente I heard it too! At 8:06 there is a scream!
cool video bro nice walk / hike really interesting gud work..
whats up bud, havent gone on here for a while haha. well basically i went inside and then i got pretty far but then the water started getting deep and i didnt have adequate footwear so we went back. the water that drips from the waterfall is really frsh though. i went two times since i commented on your video
cool have you stopped going?
Just a couple seconds after 9:04 you can hear a faint whisper saying something.. can't figure it out though
Oh I see, yeah I was wondering about those snakes lol. From what I've heard though, as long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you...kinda like a bees. But you seem to already know that in the way you casually walked past those snakes in the other video. As for the trail in this video, have you ever encountered rattlesnakes? One thing I suppose I am afraid of is accidentally not seeing the snake and stepping on it.
went last night not even scary actually had a fun time :) just take flash lights if you going up there in the night (: can't wait to go again! :D
nice........u should really b making commercials, something!!!! u have a knack for hollywood.......i didnt want the tour to end.......
awww tht is a very nice compliment, thank u :) u rock!
Was that a scream at 8:06? Maybe I’m just scared for no reason haha
Wait, and the noise at 9:16??
Yeah I didn't notice those until someone pointed them out, but at night these are the frequent "hot and cold" spots which is associated w evil spirits..bewaaaaaare =) toodles
@@brotherBvideos Haha! I will just admire this trail from afar then!
