I'm trying to decide between these exact two models and it has been tough. For context my wife and I watch a lot of sports, I game fairly regularly and we tend to watch our shows n movies in a dark room due to glare/reflectivity of our living room. Which of these two would be the best option for us Stop the FOMO in your opinion of course? THANKS!!!
I just set up my TCL QM7 that came today and I have been quite a bit disappointed that I think it is hardly much better than the 43 inch Samsung 1080p set (4 or 5 years old) that I replaced it with. It expected it to pop but it mostly seems a bit substandard or blurring. My living room Samsung (65 INCH QN65QN9DA) seems to make things sharper and better which further adds to my disappointment with my new TCL QM7. Have I set it up wrong or done something stupid? I expected things to be as bright and clear on my new TCL QM7 as my living room Samsung (65 inch QN65QN9DA) that 2 or 3 years old but it is more like my old Samsung 1080p set it replaced. I note that when I start Netflex so it's intro the color is very good but the selections seems very poor and a bit burry on this QM7 - I believe it can show vibrant images but most things seem rather blurrt and not vey sharp or vibrant. Any advice as I am almost willing to ship it back . I never expected this from a 2024 model TCL QM7.
Great comparison video. I was just looking at a QM7 at Best Buy. I asked them to put sports on the screen. They settled for pulling up some football highlights from UA-cam. There were really bad pixel halos around the players as they moved. Is that normal for this tv or do you think this was a bad demo - something in the store's setup?
Great video i really liked the dimming zone comparison. Do you think that in the future you can include a test that includes a fast moving picture to simulate how the tvs process sports?
Just ordered a 98QM751G to replace a 77 Oled in my theater room. Hoping it does the trick. Where I live, the 98QM851G would run almost $3000 more so i cant justify the price difference. $3800 cdn funds compared to $7000 cdn funds. Hopefully the QM7 works out!
@MrHipHopRapTv Thanks. I have the 98QM751G in my house, but when I saw the 98QM851G drop in price a few days ago, I bought the 98QM851G. Heck, I even purchased an 85QM851G for my basement and a 75QM851G for my living room. Excellent pricing and Costco will price protect for at least 30 days
Hi FOMO just like to ask if the QM7 and the C755 is the same TV? TCL just replaced my C745 with C755 earlier. Thanks in advance. SALUTE and MORE POWER from Philippines 😊
TCL prices have been crazy lately. 65" QM7 has stayed around $1000. Currently the 65" U7N is $700. Is the QM7 noticeably better than the U7N? Mainly used for gaming and streaming content.
I think the 65” U7N is better than the 65” QM7 based upon rtings reviews. This is coming from somebody who got the 75” QM7. Supposedly once you hit the 75” size the u7n uses a different panel that makes it worse than qm7. 65” U7N is the way to go
I had the u7n for a week and I couldn't deal with the red smearing in quick scenes along with playing games the black and red smear is horrible. The tv looks amazing when its a still frame but it's horrible for gaming in dark scenes and movies with fast motion. Tried every setting including vrr 120hz 60hz motion settings off and on etc.. I have a huge post on reddit about it and a few others have said they have similar issues. I have ordered the qm7 and hopefully it's not as bad!
@@AnimejookSure thing. I wish reviewers really showed full scenes of light and dark gameplay and movies. All VA panels have dark smearing in dark environments and some are better than others but they never actually show it in reviews.

I appreciate that the Bravia 9 is being used as a reference but it's apples and elephants in some ways. In Canada right now, the Sony is $4000 and the TCL QM7 is $1400 for a 75" set.
Ugrading from a slow 7yr old 43 inch Sharp Roku TV to either a 48 inch LG B4 OLED for $699 or a 55 inch TCL QM7 for $549 both on sale. I will only be watching netflix, prime, some old 90s movies & playing WoW from time to time. Please help me out,
Great video, new subscriber. Just a question, do you know the difference between the QM751G and QM741G models, in the US they apparently sell a model that might be a little better. Cheers, great quality videos!
TY For the video! I just got the Qm7 any recommendations for a novice like myself n picture setting adjustments from the default settings--primarily used for standard tv/streaming etc?
Hi FOMO, great analysis again! Here in Canada, big price difference between these TV's in their 98' versions (street price: 5k$ vs 8K$). Hisense 100' U8N sits in the middle at 6,5K$ and the 100' U76N is not mini-led (no 100' U7N available). Last year's Hisense U8K was better at upscaling 720p and 1080i content than the 2023 TCL QM8. Seems this year's QM7 is very capable. What do you suggest in the 98'-100' versions of these TV's for low resolution OTA Sports (720p) and 4K steaming?
Hello sir, I need your help, I couldn't find a single review of Hisense Q7N 55 inches Tv review ANYWHERE on the internet and on the youtube as well. Can you please make a quick review or youtube shorts on that?? That would be really helpful 😢
We don't have the Q7N here in the USA so I cannot comment on that particular model but We have the U7N available here (if that's what you meant) and I'll be getting that TV next week for review so keep your eye out by subscribing and be alerted!
@@stopthefomo oh man. I got my tv and its awesome and yes its native 4k with 2 HDM1 2.1 ports and one port is 4k 120 hz/ upscaled to 240 hz, it has VRR, ALLM, AMD FREESYNC. It's like a dream come true for me at this cheap price.

I have seen U8K or U8N .in diff stores I have not seen QM8 tho. Since U8K looked drop dead gorgeous I am minor biased since I am impressed . But I will try to get U8K U8N 75” for the ADS-PRO panel . I can NOT go back to VA now . I was “ VA all d way “ walking out of store “ ADS-Pro is d New Pro “ 😅 I was shocked myself 🎉😂 ADS-PRO has -- WET paint level Clean visual when doing Black , deep red / Deep blue day time . It’s something clean yet Deep/Dark . Even more clean than OLED black since OLED has reflection . I can NOT explain . It’s next level something .
YO Fomo, I just noticed on my G3 that I have a Filmmaker mode picture option on Dolby Vision Content. What's up with that? Is that new? Also they took away cinema and just left cinema home. But what surprised me was the Filmmaker mode dolby vision option! I love it!!
I have the QM7 in a box in my living room right now. I have a LG C4 on the wall right now. Im considering returning the C4. Its an Incredible TV, best TV I've ever had but, seeing as I use my PC as my main content system, Im really worried about Burn in from prolonged UA-cam watching and hard use. Im gonna give the QM7 a try over the next couple of weeks and make my final decision on keeping the OLED or staying with the QM7 because I have until February 1st to make my final decision. This video really gives me a lot of hope that it will look good enough for me. I know the Black Levels wont be close to that Pure Black on the OLED but, if it is brighter and still good contrast and colors that would be great for me honestly. Thanks for this video it really put a lot of stuff into context.
@@anne853 Alright. So ive been using the QM7 over the past few days pretty extensively. I've watched UA-cam on it, A few movies on it and I've played my playstation 5 on it. I'll be honest. I think this TV is amazing for the price. I really do! I mean, The main thing you notice between this TV and the OLED is that the OLED has those Inky Blacks. Literally pitch dark and no Blooming. The QM7 has some blooming around objects when they are over a black screen. But its honestly not that bad. I honestly think If I never saw the OLED before this TV I would think this would be the best darks can look but, obviously OLED is just way better in that regard. I think the QM7 Colors look amazing! I think the Quantom Dots are doing a great job and of making colors pop which is great. I've been doing a lot of thinking over the past few days on what I want to do, Do I want to keep the OLED or Return the OLED and Keep the QM7. I think I've decided to keep the QM7 over the LG OLED for one reason really. BURN IN! Now most ppl are not like me. I think I have a very niche use case for my TVs. My PC is my main media driver so I have a lot of static images with Chrome Tabs and Bookmarks at any time even with the Mitigation tools. I still worry so much about Burn in that its stopping me from using the TV how I want to use it and that really urks me. Honestly, If you dont use your TV as a PC monitor and only use built in Apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney plus, etc. I would say go OLED and enjoy the amazing Inky blacks, Instant response times and Great Colors but for me. I just really wish there was a TV That has the pros and cons of both OLED and MIni LED but thats probably years away or never happening according to FOMO. So idk. Im probably gonna regret returning the OLED but, its fine because Lord Willing I plan on taking the money I save from keeping the QM7 and possibly buying a nice QD OLED Gaming Monitor down the road and Building a new PC. So its not all doom and gloom. I think once I settle in with the QM7 for a while I will get used to it and forget all about the OLED. At least thats what I hope. LOL
Is it worth it to get QM8 vs WM7 ? I mean how far QM8 against to QM7? Still battling between these 2 on 85” sir. Almost a thousand different between them 2. On 75” 400 differential.
What about for video games will they be almost the same? And enhancing exposure never really happens in real world content so you won’t see the issues that it exposes when you do that.
Even for fairly bright living rooms? I heard reflection handling is MUCH better on U7N and contrast is better, too. I may have missed it, but I don't think you reviewed it yet. Thanks! 85's are on sale for $1,500, which seems like a solid value.
@@arielspivak1113I just got the qm7 and the picture is great. The reflections in a brighter room are a little annoying though. I’ve been thinking about switching to the u7n because it’s better in that regard
@@stopthefomo Hey fomo thank you for everything but could you make a video on the TCL qm7 on what these settings do -Dynamic contrast -Black stretch -Dynamic brightness -Micro contrast To me they dont change much or anything. The TCL Q6 98 inch 1799 right now at Best Buy 48 hour flash so should I get that 1 ? I'm a Samsung guy but ready to get my first TCL Don't know much about TCL
YES, go for the immersion unless your Samsung is a recent one like the flagship Q90R (2019) which as great contrast/blacks, then you may notice the drop in contrast in some scenes.
Not exactly. I’m not sure about the 805, but the c755 is a slightly lesser model than the QM7. The c855 sits somewhere between the QM7 and QM8. (At least if you look at dimming zones and brightness, worth checking other specs you’re interested in to be sure.) There is potentially a c955/x955 that is more similar to the QM8 but it’s not available in most regions, and it’s still not exactly the same as the QM8. Not sure why they make so many different ones but the different TVs in different regions are not exactly comparable.
8:32 The B9 doesnt have better blooming control but rather the QM8 chooses to produce a brighter image. In the full comparison you did with the same scene but runner from the side the B9 has way more blooming around the runner than the QM8. Somehow, reviewers dont mention this. Not a TCL fanboy but the truth is the truth. Ive seen this over and over again in most scenes.
Do u think the 98” qm7 better then last year 98” S5 s class??? The qm7 is mini led & S5 is not.. Let me know what u think I’m trying to sell my s5 to upgrade to qm7 98” worth the upgrade???
I have a 55" S5, a 75" Q6 (which was their flagship at the time), and a 65" 2023 QM8. There is just no comparison between the S5 and QM8, huge upgrade. The QM8 blew me away when I got it. If the QM7 is as bright and performs like the QM8 for normal streaming then it is a no brainer. My brother just ordered the 85" QM7...
Stop the Fomo The price for a 98" QM7 is the same price as the 85" QM8 right now. All steaming in a room with no windows. Which one would you go for? Thanks!!
Of course the bigger the better at this time the 98” tcl qm7!!! For the immersion and great pictures for streaming HDR & Dolby vision is super crisp!!! 85” qm8 is awesome too!!! But I would go with the better deal and that’s the qm7 with the reviews they say it’s pretty close side by side
It’s same dimming zones (bit more than ) SONY X98L 98” . But U7 has 30-50% higher contrast ratio n less Bloomjng than X90L . I will do U8K . Just to be done with . So ppl won’t “I love it so much wish got d 8 “ U8 has higher cast of Color Volume /density 3X higher than LG G3 G4 . On 100 , image Sooo stretched OUT . I will grab U8K 100% over U76N . U8K 100” didn’t come to Canada tho. So all us Canadians bought U76N thru bestbuy . As long as ppl sit like 12” u r set . In real outdoor image , all image far away r mushy , what makes us see them (brightness n Color volume ) . Either way U76N is good stuff . Eveything zooms out. 13-14 feet away . Eveything zoom out but still huge (highway Bill Board ) very comforting for eyes .
I still think it's ridiculous to recommend the QM7 over the QM8 for almost anyone. At BestBuy right now the QM8 is $1,000 and the QM7 is $700, this is the sale price for both TVs. Yes, that's a "50% difference", but $300 is basically nothing in the land of television prices, and when the QM8 is giving you over double the dimming zones and 3X more brightness the value proposition of the QM8 is just phenomenal. The QM8 will stand the test of time, OLED isn't reaching that level of performance any time soon, oppositely the weaknesses of the QM7 are already apparent and in a few years it will look like a "cheap TV".
I feel the same way. Unless you get an especially good deal on the QM7. They’re not exactly the same, but in my region we have TCL c755 and c855 instead and the price difference is so small that I wouldn’t even consider the c755. That said, the c755 is not as good as the QM7. Although if I didn’t have the budget and I was stretching to get the QM8 I’d be happy with the QM7, which is pretty much what was recommended at the end of the video.
The QM7 also offers a 55 inch variant though whereas the QM8 does not. At that size it’s literally half the price. This only becomes more prevalent as you go up into large tv sizes. You can get an 85 inch QM7 for the same price as a 75 inch QM8 (1499). If you were to bump up the QM8 to an 85 the price increases to $2500. You’re now spending an extra grand for the same size of tv. It makes complete sense to recommend the QM7
@@itwasntoptional2513 You're really playing with fire looking at the 55" model because nobody knows what the zone count is. Looking at the Hisense U8N as an example, the 55" has 672 zones, where the 65" has 1600 zones, you get 2.4x more zones at 65". With OLED there is no reason to go larger but with Mini LED there are HUGE performance differences between each size.
@@itwasntoptional2513 need to replace my failing 85” Vizio PQX this Black Friday. Have it narrowed down to the QM7, which would be a comparable TV, or QM8, which would be a clear upgrade. For me, the QM7 would have to be a savings of $500 or more. Best price so far was QM8 for $1,900 and QM7 was $1,500.
You know what FOMO, with what TCL are offering…. This year Sony is way overpriced. QM8 from 65 and up and QM7 below up to 65 is the way to go for half the price or less of that of Sony Bravia. It’s wrong in itself, that we having this comparison for TV in complete different price brackets 😂
@Roman0005 I'm debating on this tv as well. Any issues thus far, how's the sound? I've only owned Sony and LG tvs. I'm hesitant to drop 4k on a tcl, and it dies in 3-7 years.
I got this TV against the judgment of Best But employees. I did the research and felt this tv was the best bang for the buck and loaded out with features. Big mistake. 120hz motion is garbage. Audio would only send PCM and not native Dolby 5.1 or DTS. Reflective screen is horrible. Anything sub 4k looks horrendous. This TV is ok if you ONLY do native 4k in everything. The best buy employee told me he would rather have the entry level Samsung then a “high end” TCL. I agree 100%. I’m going back to Samsung 7200 and will never, ever consider TCL again.
It’s just commercial bollocks, you can only see as well as your eyes can see!!!! Complete irrelevant nonsense unless you just want to show off how much you’ve spent on a tele!!! Do publishers brag about how sharp thier print on a page is??? Don’t be a commercial sheep!!! 🙄
This is the type of person who can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps. They probably can't tell the difference between purple and blue either.
@stopthefomo ok, now you finally sold me after 2 of watching every video you have made. Bright room in the day, dark movie watching at night… 635 died, it worked fine for me… the very end of this review video is what sold me, I wish you would cover this more along with other reviewers…. STREAMING.. I just use the tv for Netflix, hbo max, UA-cam tv… everything I watch is sdr or DV, don’t see much of any regular hdr… I was bouncing between the u8n & u7n I’m going 75” so that ads panel has me concerned…. Why spend $1400 on a 75u8n or the sony 90l…. Seems like the qm7 should be just fine for me… the 75” u7n would be out because the ads panel let alone your review comparing it with the qm7… now I see why you are recommending the qm7 @ 75”…. So I got all ther correct? Going to finally pull the trigger this week!!! Let me know if you read this :)

For context my wife and I watch a lot of sports, I game fairly regularly and we tend to watch our shows n movies in a dark room due to glare/reflectivity of our living room. Which of these two would be the best option for us Stop the FOMO in your opinion of course? THANKS!!!
Great video! Thanks so much for putting this out!
Do you think that in the future you can include a test that includes a fast moving picture to simulate how the tvs process sports?
yes
Do you recommend the QM7 over the 2023 QM8?
QM8 is better but costs a few hundred dollars more still. QM7 is still the better value IMO if you're willing to calibrate it.
Could you make a video on up coming Labor Day TV deals for every price point?
Just ordered a 98QM751G to replace a 77 Oled in my theater room. Hoping it does the trick. Where I live, the 98QM851G would run almost $3000 more so i cant justify the price difference.
$3800 cdn funds compared to $7000 cdn funds.
Hopefully the QM7 works out!
You replaced an OLED?
Fellow RFD Costco purchaser the QM8 is now at 5000 CAD. Not sure which one to get, leaning towards QM7 but need that 200$ off to come back.

QM7 or Sony X90L?
TCL prices have been crazy lately. 65" QM7 has stayed around $1000. Currently the 65" U7N is $700. Is the QM7 noticeably better than the U7N? Mainly used for gaming and streaming content.
I think the 65” U7N is better than the 65” QM7 based upon rtings reviews. This is coming from somebody who got the 75” QM7. Supposedly once you hit the 75” size the u7n uses a different panel that makes it worse than qm7.
65” U7N is the way to go
U should do a comparison between the qm7 and the Hisense u7n. I heard the u8n in 55” doesn’t perform that well. So I got to get one of the two
I had the u7n for a week and I couldn't deal with the red smearing in quick scenes along with playing games the black and red smear is horrible.
@@SteveJaye84 thanks for the heads up. Let me know how the qm7 is. I’m leaning towards that one, still not sure tho
@@AnimejookSure thing. I wish reviewers really showed full scenes of light and dark gameplay and movies. All VA panels have dark smearing in dark environments and some are better than others but they never actually show it in reviews.

Went to Bestbuy with the intention to buy a Bravia 7 85" but ended up ordering a QM8 - didn't find an image quality difference worth of $500.
I appreciate that the Bravia 9 is being used as a reference but it's apples and elephants in some ways. In Canada right now, the Sony is $4000 and the TCL QM7 is $1400 for a 75" set.
Just placed an order for qm7.
Please help me out,
Best Buy dropped the TCL QM7 55 to $499, so I couldn't pass that up!
Great video, new subscriber. Just a question, do you know the difference between the QM751G and QM741G models, in the US they apparently sell a model that might be a little better. Cheers, great quality videos!
Do you think this is much better than the q7 or not by much
QM7 or Hisense U7N for gaming and streaming services?
On 9.58 is in the image. It's where they practice the room. Thx Fomo.
What about if we’re gonna be gaming on a next gen console? I heard QM8 was pretty good for gaming.
You mean current gen. We're 4 years into the Series X and PS5 lifecycle.
TY For the video! I just got the Qm7 any recommendations for a novice like myself n picture setting adjustments from the default settings--primarily used for standard tv/streaming etc?
How does it compare with last year's Q7?
98" QM7 is killing it here in the USA with very high customer satisfaction - highly recommended
Are the 55 inch panels equal to the 65 inch? I am hearing that the quality of the QM7 is not as good for the 55. Thank you for the great content.
I'm getting qm7 55" tomorrow for $550. Should I return ?

Please let us know what you think after testing the QM7; I’m interested to know how it compares to your OLED.
LOL
so whats the update?
Would this Qm7 be a downgrade coming from a lgc9? I don’t wanna buy another oled.
I have a LG C9 as well. Never getting a Oled again. Starting to get black dots on the boarders of the TV.
Did I miss you mention the viewing angles of the qm7?
For a dedicated theater room with totally controlled lighting, would the QM7 be just fine over the QM8?
Yes, it would be - as a matter of fact the 98" QM7 would be awesome and under $2500
Is it worth it to get QM8 vs WM7 ? I mean how far QM8 against to QM7? Still battling between these 2 on 85” sir. Almost a thousand different between them 2. On 75” 400 differential.
Compared to a Sony X90L is what I would like to see for not perfect content.
QM7 is slightly brighter with deeper blacks and a better value
Omg ! Jenifer is so awesome .
What about for video games will they be almost the same? And enhancing exposure never really happens in real world content so you won’t see the issues that it exposes when you do that.
On your opinioin what is better qm7 or u7n?
QM7
Even for fairly bright living rooms? I heard reflection handling is MUCH better on U7N and contrast is better, too. I may have missed it, but I don't think you reviewed it yet. Thanks! 85's are on sale for $1,500, which seems like a solid value.

YES, go for the immersion unless your Samsung is a recent one like the flagship Q90R (2019) which as great contrast/blacks, then you may notice the drop in contrast in some scenes.
Qm7 is the same as c805 and c755 in other markets?
Not exactly.
I’m not sure about the 805, but the c755 is a slightly lesser model than the QM7.
The c855 sits somewhere between the QM7 and QM8.
(At least if you look at dimming zones and brightness, worth checking other specs you’re interested in to be sure.)
There is potentially a c955/x955 that is more similar to the QM8 but it’s not available in most regions, and it’s still not exactly the same as the QM8.
Not sure why they make so many different ones but the different TVs in different regions are not exactly comparable.
@@pieflies nice to know. I imagined something like that. But thank you for your explanation.

It’s same dimming zones (bit more than ) SONY X98L 98”
Eveything zoom out but still huge (highway Bill
Board ) very comforting for eyes .
If the 7 wasn’t so big for my space I’d consider it for my gaming setup but alas 55 inches too big.
It’s on sale in my budget but again, too big lol
Tvs can never be big my friend😊
Save mony in QM7 and save anergy too
I still think it's ridiculous to recommend the QM7 over the QM8 for almost anyone.
QM8 from what I've seen isn't worth $300 more.
You know what FOMO, with what TCL are offering…. This year Sony is way overpriced.
QM8 from 65 and up and QM7 below up to 65 is the way to go for half the price or less of that of Sony Bravia.

This guy really wanted sony to win even thou clearly qm7 wins
