The thing that really amuses me is that you can buy a 85" screen for around the same cost in real terms, that our first colour TV, bought in the mid 1970's. And that was probably a 21".

Yeah, once you are used to a 85 inch or bigger a 75-inch tv actually look kinda small. Lol 😆 never thought a 75-inch would look small to me. 85 inch is becoming the new normal for a lot of living rooms. It depends on the size room though a 75 looks huge in a small living room. I have a 100-inch tv, and it doesn't even look that huge to me, but my living room is large for a 1600sq ft house. 20x16, we sit 13 feet away from the tv. So a 130-inch would be the most emmersive. But I would have to rearrange my living room and sit length wise like 20 feet away from the tv then, and it would look small from that far back still. 130 is about as large as my living room walls could handle. My 100-inch maxes out a wall between the living room and kitchen, though. The wall is 89 inches wide, and the tv is 88 inches lol 😆
@@jamesloehr641talk about to a gnat’s ass… 😂 you must have the extendable mount… I just bought the 100” U8k miniLED. I did not think the picture was phenomenal until I saw it… at that size - I have about 1 foot to spare on the viewing distance.
@@bingram2011i have it on a fixed mount. Rated for 264lbs its lug bolted with 6 bolts to a 12x48 inch piece of 3/4 inch plywood that's lug bolted with 6 bolts to 3 studs. I hung it myself and its perfectly level and centered. But the mount does slide a little side to side, if it was off a tiny bit. Its about 30 inches from the ground. I had to hang it a bit higher because of the dogs, they have some leathal tail wacking that could crack screens lol 😆 I thought about getting the u8n but I thought the u76n was a good deal for the price. I can always upgrade later to the u8n and it may get even cheaper in a few years when they start comming out with 130 inch tvs. Although I didn't know they had the tcl qm7 for 2k recently which has to be the best deal for a close to 100 inch tv out there. It is 2 inches smaller, but it's also a mini led with 1500 dimming zones and 2400 nits brightness. So it has to be the best deal out there. I didn't know the u76n wasn't mini led when I bought it. Just 256 dimming zones. I thought it was the same as the u7 mini led. So feel kinda mislead by the name. Its still a good value though and picture quality is still very good.
@@bingram2011i feel like hisense does some misleading advertising. U76n not being anything like the u7n it makes sit seam like it would actually be a model between the u7 and u8. Also i never got my free copy of nba2k 25 lol thry kept fenying my reciet and now it says out of stock on both versions when inclicked on the rewards link. How could a digital copy be out of stock ? Lol 😆 scam. They should have had enough copies for every tv sold with that advertisement.
Just received my Sony 85 Inch 4K Ultra HD TV X90L so when it ages and needs to replaced, I can aim for a larger screen. Question: When does it get time to replace a large screen? What are the variables the tells us that the large screen needs to be replaced? is this decision the same for a regular sized T.V. Caleb? Thank you kindly!!
Hi love watching you show, great accurate advice. Can you answer a question for me, looking for 77 inch or larger mini led TV, which has the best upscale from standard 1080p to 4k. Many thanks Abdul from United Kingdom (UK)
Upgraded all my TVs this year and the top dog is 77”, which was always my plan. And now it’s not even considered terribly large (yes, yes, I know, it's pointless to compare, right TV for the right space, etc etc). I do wonder if the TCL QM7 is better with corner vignetting, I have a Q7 and it feels like it's not BAD, but it is noticeable in bright full screen scenes. Doesn't occur during most movies due to aspect ratios, thankfully.
I just got the 100U70 Hisense and it’s pretty awesome. It hasn’t dethroned my 77 C9 OLED in my man cave. Big screen definitely makes bad quality video look quite bad. 720P or below forget about it. High quality 1080P from a solid source is fine, but you want 1440P or high content to be honest. But for my main family living space where Bluey dominates the screen, it’s just fine. I have two OLEDs. The C9 and a 65 inch A9F master series which is still going strong.
Coming from a 75" in the house, I don't mind a 85" but I really want a 98" and to be done with but I went too crazy on buying other things on Black Friday
I just got the QM7 98. It made a huge difference in watching experience. Don't got for anything smaller when you can get it such a low price during this time.
Because In business school , 😮business professor :” SONY makes their flagship to promote low end . They do not make money but lose money by selling a few Flagship so they want ppl buy low end with high price even tho being seen as high end . So ppl in 3 yrs went upgrade again n again .”
Hi Caleb and Team, thanks for another great video! If at all possible could you do a review of LG's Mini-LED tv line? I'd like to see if they've caught back up and how they measure up against their competitors. Thank you.
yeah, sterling reviews. out of this world innovations and tech genius with ALL these devices. man, one would be perplexed as to which one to take home. thanks, mate . another blockbuster, courtesy of U. truth be told
Caleb, thank you so very, very much for this episode. I traded my 60 inch Panasonic KURO Plasma TV in 2018 for a Sony XBR-85X900F 85 inch TV. So, here I am, six years later, living with this 85 inch Sony in our living room. As you said, you get used to the size. We watch all kinds of content, from DirecTV, to OTA antenna local TV, to 4K Blue Ray on my beloved Oppo-205. The Sony processing is fantastic. So, my living room is very bright, with a wall of windows, would I be a fool to trade processing power for brightness? Are the new TCL’s of 2024 as good at processing as my six year old Sony, or should this videophile just buy the 98 inch Sony and get busy livin’? Thanks again for making this video that I requested in a previous comment. You are Da Man!
Hopefully, they’ll start making 103”-106” sizes. Got in early on a 98” a few years ago. Wouldn’t mind upgrading now that prices are finally low. But can’t commit to 110” or 115”. I think my mount can only handle up to 180lbs.
Don't know about Caleb but I'd go QM8 any day!!! Full array, miniLED, local dimming 120 native refresh rate, VRR ( I thiiiiiiiiink???) HDMI 2.1 ports, very bright panel.....I LOVE TCL though, they have packed so much into their TVs for such great prices. I can't put a tv over 70" in my space so I've been looking at the 65" TCL Q7 mostly for casual gaming and movies....... they're around 800 Canadian dollars right now and have all the juicy specs you'd want for gaming.
Yeah, he addressed this and chose the larger screen size as the size gives more of immersive experience than the technically better image quality of the smaller screen.
Hi, love your work, and all your advice. What do you think of the LG UT9000 98”? I love LG, and want to go big, but haven’t found any reviews on this. Any thoughts?
I literally don't understand people who came to this video just to leave the comment "I just bought the best one" or "I'm fine with my seven year old 1080p set" or "once you go big you...". Copeum huffing aside. Great video. I'm shopping around because I currently have a 55" TCL s451 (Wally World Special) and its screen uniformity is degrading by the month. These videos are great for keeping me aware of what's on the market right now while I'm shopping. Once you have a nice TV. Great. No one cares.
geez, let people share their experiences, Grinch. everyone knows no one else cares. i don't know what you expected to see in the comment section of a video like this.
I've always preferred quality over size. That being said, if the bigger budget tvs have all the features to utilise the full capability of the latest consoles, i would consider it.
I think the Sony X90L should have been included in the 85" size. That is the one we plan on getting. We felt more comfortable with Sony compared to Hisense or TCL. We will be spending a bit more but not a huge amount more.
How about the Hisense 100in u76? What are your thoughts? I ordered it but I can change. I was getting the tcl 98 inch qm7 for gaming but was talked into Hisense or lg 83 c4
I just got the QM7 98. It made a huge difference in watching experience. Don't got for anything smaller when you can get it such a low price during this time.
I will stick with my LG laser projector until Micro LED module panels are an affordable option in order to make at least a 120” display. The current 100 - 110” TV’s from TCL and Hisense are too much of a pain in the ass to move around or deal with if there is a warranty issue. At least with the Module style TV’s from Samsung or Sony, you can replace the module. I doubt the cost will come down any time soon, but I stand by my decision until such time.
Disappointed Caleb just glossed over the 97" G4 OLED. The M series is not only more expensive but that use case (a wireless connect box) that's work for everyone. Given everything I have connected in my home theater, a wireless box would actually be more difficult to integrate than just the regular G4 in my space. Nevertheless, I have a G4 97" OLED and it is stunning! If you're spending the big bucks, there is no better all around TV in the market IMO.
If I remember correctly, the 97” doesn’t use an MLA panel, which is the distinguishing characteristic of the G line, not sure why they called the 97” a G without the MLA panel. That might be why he glossed over it.
@@vfplayer That's true but none of the 97" OLED sizes use MLA including the M3 (and current M4) and the G2. So that's not the reason and I'm sure Celeb is well aware of that. MLA is a key but not the defining factor for the G series IMO. The defining factors are really the Gallery design, A11 Processor, and Brightness booster max which includes the MLA HW along with several software algorithms. The 97" G4 has all of that and only lacks the physical MLA layer which is not needed in a dark room in particular. The G4 is still brighter than the 97" G2 was and the current C4 line which puts it comfortably over 1000 nits (1000-1100 range). More than adequate for a panel that size.
After finally getting a great OLED TV of the same size as my old 1080p TV, I am now more convinced than ever that a size upgrade is the most important thing. Was my 55" Sony OLED an upgrade over my old 55" 1080p Element? Of course, but was it as big of a deal as when I went from my 27" little box to that 55" element? Not even close. I can't even imagine how an 85 plus inch TV of any kind would look in my living room and how it would completely change my viewing experience. My next new tv will definitely have to be 85 inches or more, OLED or not.
I wish I had waited to get my 85”. I have the TCL QM8 the 2023 pick…. I wish I had waited and and got the new version of the same tv. 120hz instead of 60….
I have a hard time going just for size just for the sake of being big, personally I need both size and quality to remain hand and hand when making a purchase normally quality wins me over size
Samsung wall goes up to 292 inches. But it's a multi panel microled and its like 2 million bucks at that size. Tcl says new factory is capable of 130 inch panels and even panels up to 146 inches. So we could see some mega screen tvs in the future. Likely that would be as big as tvs could possibly go. a 146 inch tv I would imagine you would need a 8 foot tall front door likely. Or it would have to be taken out of its box before bringing it in to install. Because it would be a 6 foot tall tv and likely have another 12 inches of packing material and a skid under it. My 100 inch tv inside it's box was like 5ft 6 inches tall and the tv is only about 50 inches tall. But it was on a skid and had thick packing material. I think anything bigger than a 130 would likely be a 7 foot tall box. A 120 the box would probably be like 6ft 5 inches tall at least. A 130 would max out a front door I am sure. Also a tv that size would likely weigh like 300lbs plus. So it wouldn't be practical for a single panel tv to ever really go over 130 inches imo. Unless they are oleds, very thin and weigh much less.. which would probably still be 130lbs tvs at those sizes. I think as far as lcd panels go anything over a 110 inches is too heavy. You need handles built into the tv top and bottom and like 2 body builders delivering it lol 😆
@@rolig3518 look, and then ponder ponding out bringing a pre-calibrated QM7 of 5.5 up to its potential of post calibrated 9.5. you are not going to spend $600 to have a Pro calibrate the $500 55", @ $2000 for 98" maybe. An average person might be able to bring to 8.5 after investing a lot of effort. Sweat equity, frustrating trial & error, a kitten chasing its tail. Besides tedious there's bugs in the firmware.
Yeah, this review is confusing...No Bravia 9, No LG G4, and since you mentioned a 2023 tv, what about the A95L then? It's older, but still near the top.
I refuse to pay double the price than the US here in Europe. This is bullshit. I'm not paying 3.500$ for a QM8(X955) when it costs 1.800 in the US. Same applies to the bravia 9. 5.000euros for a Mini-LED TV is criminal.
a samsung 98q80c is $5000 here in brazil. i'd say it costs as much as a cars... if cars didn't cost as much as a house nowadays (literally, in 2020 i built 4-bedroom house at my farm for cheaper than what a ford ranger costs now)
Do you think next year will bring a 98 inch Bravia 9? Sony's new TVs being too small is kind of annoying. On another note do you think the theatre quads next iteration will support multi sub or a physical sub out? A 98" Bravia 9 plus theatre quad with multi sub would be quite the home theatre setup that's more than good enough for most people. It's annoying it doesn't exist!
Hi, I have a $2,600 budget. I'm looking for the best bang for my buck overall TV in every aspect for my budget. Can somebody please help me? Whether it's a Black Friday sale or just in general
If you want big I got the samsung DU9000, spec wise it isn't high tier- but 98 inches is a blast. Especially if you pair it with a solid sound bar. It will be deceptively luxurious. I believe black friday will make it just about that price.
@@Anonymous98766-e yeah that's what we were aiming for but unfortunately they are out of stock everywhere. So do you think going to 85-in version is good with the soundbar and then sit on that for a year, play it safe and then sell it and then next year upgrade to something that's more readily available? That's good for the money
I did some personal side by side comparisons if the 98-100" tvs and the Sony's ability to so clearly reproduce sports from cable and streaming services won me over. If I were only watching Blu-ray I'd go with the hisense. None of the tcls looked accurate out of the box.
I think the context that's missing here is actual proper viewing distance and do you have enough space for this MASSIVE TV!!!! I guess the fad right now is going as big as possible for immersion and less quality.......I'd say, if you can check all the boxes, then do it. Otherwise, wait a few years until prices come down even further!!!
These giant TVs are massive so why buy a cheap one? QM7 or better because when that giant TV is setup you dont wanna mess with it again. I personally bought the QNED90T 86" as i like LG and have had great luck with them. Its a heavy, well built TV with great picture quality. For the room i installed it in a 98" would have been too much. A 77" oled would have been too small, but the mini led 86" was just right. 83" oled was like +700 dollars didnt wanna spend it.
A 86 is still a massive tv and very nice. I had the 86 inch lg before I got my 100 inch hisense. But honestly their wasn't a huge different in size from a viewing distance. It looks way bigger up close and on menu screens. But normal viewing the 86 inch felt just as expansive and emersive.

Many thanks
Abdul from United Kingdom (UK)
Got the Samsung 85 inch QN90C last year and already want the Hisence 100 inch from Costco
Do u want to see the movie pictures at same size n height as real people? Lol
Coming from a 75" in the house, I don't mind a 85" but I really want a 98" and to be done with but I went too crazy on buying other things on Black Friday
I just got the QM7 98. It made a huge difference in watching experience. Don't got for anything smaller when you can get it such a low price during this time.
What rv did you upgrade from?@@henrychandra2064
Was at best buy trying to decide between a 85 qn90d and 98 q80c.
Imo, the q80c was good enough for me and the size is what really attracts me

Why was the 85” Bravia 9 not mentioned?

Hi Caleb and Team, thanks for another great video! If at all possible could you do a review of LG's Mini-LED tv line? I'd like to see if they've caught back up and how they measure up against their competitors. Thank you.
I remember buying a Samsung 40" 1080p TV for $1500 in 2008. Now you can get that size in 4k for around $150.
Yea I remember when people though 40inches were huge.
@@SeanJ2A nowadays my computer screen is 48"
to be fair, it is a tv. an lg c1
In 2008-2009 I bought sony bravia xbr 40" with clear bezels around for ps3 fat for $2200. Picture still looks great especially in 1080p
Just got a 98" QM7 for $2,000 for Black Friday. Can't wait! The Mini_LED upgrade from the $1600 Q65 seemed worth the extra money.
yeah, sterling reviews. out of this world innovations and tech genius with ALL these devices. man, one would be perplexed as to which one to take home. thanks, mate . another blockbuster, courtesy of U. truth be told

Do you think we'll see a 98-100-inch Bravia 9 released next year?
I would love to ask Denison. Would you rather a 98 inch QM8 over 77 A95L OLED. Does size warrant buying a MiniLED over OLED??
Don't know about Caleb but I'd go QM8 any day!!! Full array, miniLED, local dimming 120 native refresh rate, VRR ( I thiiiiiiiiink???) HDMI 2.1 ports, very bright panel.....I LOVE TCL though, they have packed so much into their TVs for such great prices.
I can't put a tv over 70" in my space so I've been looking at the 65" TCL Q7 mostly for casual gaming and movies....... they're around 800 Canadian dollars right now and have all the juicy specs you'd want for gaming.
He actually has a video Answering this very question. I believe he compares the A95L and tcl 115” Qm891g. He chose the 115”.
Yeah, he addressed this and chose the larger screen size as the size gives more of immersive experience than the technically better image quality of the smaller screen.
Seems like TCL is is blowing competition out of the park! Cheaper and 95% of the sony and samsung performance.
And pictures quality is great !!!
Hi, love your work, and all your advice. What do you think of the LG UT9000 98”? I love LG, and want to go big, but haven’t found any reviews on this. Any thoughts?
LG M3 is down to $18,000. They'll make great stocking stuffers this year.
Size plays a role in so many factors in life 😅👌
Said no woman ever..
Reading this comment watching my Sony A95L
geez, let people share their experiences, Grinch. everyone knows no one else cares. i don't know what you expected to see in the comment section of a video like this.
I've always preferred quality over size. That being said, if the bigger budget tvs have all the features to utilise the full capability of the latest consoles, i would consider it.
The video I’ve been waiting for ❤
Why people don't go to the theater no more. Honestly if you can go big, go for it, I remember when tvs were expensive, the prices are amazing 😂😂😂
Thanks for the videos.
My LG 86 mini LED is stunning
So s90c 83 is woled panel not qd oled . Is that still good as compared to c4 ?this is samsung first year with woled panel.
I have NEVER seen anything other than a very good/great picture from ANY OLED
it comes to a point where it's more practical to just move the couch nearer to the screen... or to buy a projector.
Projector sucks compared to tv !!
I think the Sony X90L should have been included in the 85" size. That is the one we plan on getting. We felt more comfortable with Sony compared to Hisense or TCL. We will be spending a bit more but not a huge amount more.
I did the same this weekend. Can’t wait for it to get delivered!
I wish you would provide the width of the base on some of these TV's. Does a 85" TV require a 72" base or a 45" base? thanks
TCL or Hisense for gaming???
I have a 85" 4k neo qled samsung smart TV want to get a 100" in the future
What do you think of LG QNED 89T (98 in)?
$2300 85 inch QN90D or $2500 85 inch Bravia 7 ? Which one would you buy for a very large high ceiling living room with alot of windows ?
If you have a Student or EPP account you can get the QN90D for much less($1700) via Samsung Shop.
How about the Hisense 100in u76? What are your thoughts? I ordered it but I can change. I was getting the tcl 98 inch qm7 for gaming but was talked into Hisense or lg 83 c4
Would you pick the Samsung 83” S90C over the 98” QM7? I’m not sure the picture quality can overcome that large of a size difference.
It’s not the same picture quality & sharpness compared to TV bro trust me!!!
@@TruTechnoGamer I don’t think they did an M4, they skipped the M this year for some reason.
U9N worth consideration in 85 inch?

I have a hard time going just for size just for the sake of being big, personally I need both size and quality to remain hand and hand when making a purchase normally quality wins me over size
Any chance for a 2000-inch TV? 📺
Was that a typo? ... Could your home even accommodate a 170 foot TV? 🤣
@ Check out “Frank’s 2,000 Inch TV”, by “Weird Al” Yankovic. 😎
It's called a Drive In lol
Buying a huge but cheaper TV with poorer colour accuracy: can this be fixed with professional calibration?
In many cases, yes. Look at at rtings pre and post calibration scores.
A95l stops at 77 inch. This video focuses on size from 83inch
Can you do 8K tv for this end 2024
83S90C is a good deal but it has the WOLED panel and not the QD OLED panel so no extra brightness or color volume.
Boomshakalaka....Immmmerse Yourself....Could you imagine one of these in one of those 300 square foot tiny houses?
Thanks
Hi, I have a $2,600 budget. I'm looking for the best bang for my buck overall TV in every aspect for my budget. Can somebody please help me? Whether it's a Black Friday sale or just in general
If you want big I got the samsung DU9000, spec wise it isn't high tier- but 98 inches is a blast. Especially if you pair it with a solid sound bar. It will be deceptively luxurious.
I believe black friday will make it just about that price.
@@sho1ooit's worth it to just go up to the q80c at that point.
98” TCL QM7 is currently $2k. It fits within your budget and you’re have change to invest in a sound system.
Amazon dropped the price again for Cyber Monday
100inch U8K only 2600$ only like 11 left
I still giggle at my Samsung 85 in Q70A
I think the context that's missing here is actual proper viewing distance and do you have enough space for this MASSIVE TV!!!!
I guess the fad right now is going as big as possible for immersion and less quality.......I'd say, if you can check all the boxes, then do it. Otherwise, wait a few years until prices come down even further!!!
Bravia 9 85" ?
I am happy with my 98 TCL from Costco.
Apparently the 85" qn90d has a different panel type.
