When you looking to buy a TCL and comparing it to other TV's please keep this in mind. I have the first gen of the 6series TCL when they introduced QLED. They have updated the firmware every year and it looks better than the day I bought it. Truly a great company.

@AR-ki7hg my bright varied but mostly kept at 100, tbh I think you're more likely to want to upgrade before you ever see any significant wear and tear on the tv.

I have the 1st gen 6series mini QLED when they moved away from Roku and was wondering why my TV looked better😂
Also I forget but I was pretty sure smart HDR wasn’t always a standard picture setting before 1 of the early updates lol

They never stopped offering stands... but usually reserve them for the higher end models. LG, Samsung... Pretty much all of them. TCL also don't have them in the low end ones. This is TCL's cheapest model with a stand.

@@stuckintheinbetween For those that that hate TV legs Universal Pedestal stands can be had. Just because a manufacturer is offering a pedestal stand on some sizes and some models doesn't mean it's across the board on every size TV. The 55" model does still include feet style leg stands. I bought a Universal Pedestal stand that is still better than the flat metal stand that Hisense includes that also has no swivel rotation. Plus universal stands can be adjusted by height. Manufacture stands in general it comes in one height level and is 100% stationary.

As per Stop the FOMO, the Hisense U7N has the extra brightness the others don't, but it achieves this at the cost of tone mapping and contrast as it often clips brighter areas and even skin-tones.

@@AR-ki7hg Because some TVs have flicker if you set the backlight lower than max, so I usually just leave it at 100. It is a bright TV, but I use my QM7 primarily as a PC monitor for gaming, and I just lower the gamma with my GPU driver's individual game profiles to tone down the brightness on a game-by-game basis if I find it's too bright for the specific game I'm playing. With some games I want the extra brightness, in others I don't. It's much more convenient to create gamma/brightness profiles with the GPU driver software for individual games rather than constantly adjusting the backlight when playing different games.

Ask Copilot for a review, this should be available on your PC or phone, it uses ChatGPT AI and will give you some good intel, it does get thing wrong, but, if you ask it, it remembers what you previously said, so you can engage like you were having a normal conversation. In this case I asked it for a review, but it got the U8N wrong on having HMDI 2.1 for gaming. But it gives you a good starting point to start your own research.

I hope someone will test the color spectrum of models sold in the US to determine if they have suitable levels of QDs.

Right now the price difference at 75" is $300 more for the QM8. The QM8 gets a little brighter but I think the QM7 is plenty bright in most situations! It's clear they have the same media engine because all the ratings of both TVs starting at Low-Quality Content Smoothing to the end of the review are IDENTICAL, it's just the screen's glossy finish/reflectivity and terrible out-of-box calibration that hurts the QM7 A LOT, and the latter is FIXABLE. Sound is actually worse on the QM8 ... I think at this price differential, the QM8 isn't offering an extra $300 of value - 80,000:1 contrast vs. 160,000:1 contrast is probably difficult to distinguish without a computer, 2000 nits content (to utilize the QM8) is rare, and only in the brightest spot in the entire house could the QM8 be considered for purchase ...

Because the native contrast rating of the TCL (8261:1) is higher than Hsense(4771:1), and the barchart measures average (80% dynamic 20% native) which gives TCL (68%) an edge vs Hisense (58%).

Great video! Love rtings! My friend has this model but is having trouble with some of the settings. On a single input, when content from Apple TV changes from SDR to HDR, the settings will carry over. Example - let’s say he has movie mode selected and has brightness at 42 in SDR. When content switches to HDR, and the TCL is in HDR10 movie picture mode, the brightness stays at 42 because it brought over settings from SDR. Which seems too low in HDR. TCL seemed to confirm this is how it’s meant to perform as well. Is this something you guys noticed or dealt with when calibrating your model? Do you know if the Hisense U7N allows for dedicated settings whether in SDR or HDR on the same input? Thanks!

The DSE is far better than the Vizio 2020 M7 50". It was all over the screen and mainly the right half would have a darker tint, it had a tan spot in the corner,& it vertical lines.
On the U8N it has one long strip on the right side. There is other minor DSE. You can really see it with light blue and light grey skys. I do watch Plane spotting videos and this where DSE shows the panels true DSE colors.
I sent an email about the U8N having feet over a pedestal. I'm buying a pedestal stand on Amazon.
Thanks for the music in this Video I needed this video for a sound check and had to reset my Vizio subwoofer to the sound bar and recheck the sound levels.
Thanks for the calibration page I also used it for one of my settings but 2 changes. Warm 2 over Warm 1, using contrast at 50 for all picture settings and using the 1860 color gamut over 2.2.

      TCL QM7 vs c765
The TCL QM7 and TCL C765 are both excellent TVs, but they cater to slightly different needs. Here's a comparison to help you decide:
      TCL QM7:
Display Technology: QLED with Mini-LED backlight
      Resolution: 4K (3840 x 2160)
      Refresh Rate: 120Hz
HDMI Ports: 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports
HDR Support: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG)
Additional Features: Game Master 2.0, FreeSync Premium Pro, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM)
      TCL C765 (MQLED85):
Display Technology: QLED with Full-Array Dimming
      Resolution: 4K (3840 x 2160)
Refresh Rate: 60Hz (some models may offer 120Hz)
HDMI Ports: 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI 1.4 port
      HDR Support: HDR10, HLG
Additional Features: THX Certified, Wide Color Gamut, Dolby Atmos
      Key Differences:
Refresh Rate: The QM7 offers a higher refresh rate (120Hz vs. 60Hz for the C765), making it better for gaming3.
HDMI Ports: The QM7 has HDMI 2.1 ports, which support higher resolutions and faster refresh rates, while the C765 has HDMI 2.0 ports.
HDR Support: Both support HDR10 and HLG, but the QM7 also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+3.
Additional Features: The QM7 includes gaming-specific features like VRR and ALLM, which are not available on the C765.
Overall, if you're looking for a TV primarily for gaming, the TCL QM7 would be the better choice due to its higher refresh rate and gaming features. However, if you're looking for a more budget-friendly option with good picture quality, the TCL C765 is still a solid choice.

I have an R6 635 I just bought thr qm7 since it was on sale for $475. Is it a decent image quality upgrade and let me say Ratings has serious issues with how they rate viewing at an angle. No one sits to the side of a TV. Every single TV at best buy looks great even from the side
