- make sure to check out the whole video on my channel Cb7media. in this video I am showing you how to bypass and jump your radiator fan to see if it works or not.
#radiator #coolingfan
Brother out of ALL the videos on here yours was the best ty so much another trick to the book bc of you. Thanks a million much love from miami lmk if you got a tik tok
sir you are a saint. 2 auto places couldn't fix my car, now i can do it myself thanks to you
Was it your coolant sensor ?
No reply?.
Make sure you add a fuse to it, so it wont short
@@elchido3517 can use a resistor 150 ohms
@@elchido3517 So, you can't run it that way for long?
I don’t have a thermostat sensor is this a coolant temp sensor?
Yes
Thank you for the video,I didn’t know that🤔
Been at this All day. Put in a new fan and a new sensor. The fan only works if I unplug the sensor. I have to work in the morning and don't have any more time for this. Would it damage anything if I drive with the sensor unplugged?
It shouldn't, but because of it, the computer will not get the signal of the engine been warm , so it will think that is still cold & therefore will keep fuel injectors spraying gas as if it's cold engine temperature. In other words, u will spend a little more ⛽ than usual..., just get it fix ASAP
That genuine fact bypass thank you that better for the engine anyway instead of waiting
Just tried this on my 2000 accord 2.3L. When I tried to unplug the connector, it broke the top of the sensor off and now it’s stuck in the connector. ANNNNND my fans still aren’t coming on even with the paperclip in it. Fml lol
Thanks for the info. My fans didn't turn on, they just make a Humm noise. I'm guessing high fans are no good. Replacong my fans soon.
Id say yes. Replace fans soon
It really worked!! Thanks man !!!
My fans are not spinning when I bridge the paper clip. But it runs when therl a/c is on. Which relay is bad? My car has 3 relays. Rad 1 Rad 2 and Rad 3
My friend would call it a jump wire MacGyver on wheels 😀
What happens if I jump it and it still doesn’t turn on
Check the fuse under the hood it's probably blown, or you have a short someplace. Check your grounds and starter wires
Did u figure out what was wrong with urs? Mine didn’t work with the jumper wire also. I know my issue may be different than urs but I’m curious so I can maybe look there first
@@micah.80665 checked every ground, changed the switch, the fans. Basically fired the parts cannon at it. I gave up and hard wired the fan with a switch. I think it ended up being the ecu but I never tested it. I don’t own the car anymore:(
So no I did not figure it out😂
@@micah.80665I’m having the same problem lol
I try this but not work but i try to direct to the battery the fan is working
Thank you man, exactly what I needed
I love my old cb7 i had 410k .i had this issue i replaced the switch after i tested this
Thanks for the tip really helped
Need your help please 🙏 I did this test and fans came on and then I replaced the cooler sensor and seems like the fans don't come on still and car coolers when driving and overheating at the stop light
What car is it ? Did you check relay?
@@SMOER-fw2kn it's a Pontiac Torrent 2006 and it's a back up car 🚗 I checked the relay but I seen video of a lower relay under battery I still need to check out ? Weather will be getting better in April? Will start working on again and I put a new radiator in and I still got heater core bypassed and the fans working i dont have car insurance to take on freeway yet so nothing i can do tell late April ( thanks for post
Dear Brother, my car was flooded, my fan isn't running , I noticed smoke from the fan motor or its switch , what could be the cause. Iam scared to use the car
Bro I tried this and my tan doesn’t turns on
That means the problem is not in the temperature sensor, maybe in the fuse or relay or fan itself or wiring
Other videos said you have to use a nine gauge wire. 😂 I’m currently waiting on the door dasher to drop off the nine gauge wire to test it out because I tried it with a different kind of wire and it blew a spark. Now I don’t know if I messed something else up.😅 someone comment so I can come back and update😂😂
What happen lol
Where is it located. Mazda 6 2004 4cyl
How do I fix it? 2006 Pontiac Solstice.
replace the temperature sensor that that bit plugs into
But if u have 2 fans will both come on
I’m getting a coolant temp reading. Changed fan, checked fuses and fan is still not working. Any ideas???
The temp sensor? Wiring could be damaged as well
After determining that the radiator temperature sensor is faulty, is it safe to keep that wire on the whole time and forget about replacing the sensor itself?
It's best to replace sensors and relays both or just figure out what is the main problem and go from there
Did you just say "thermostat sensor?" 😂😂😂😂
If I kept it like this for a while until I got it fixed would it cause any major problems? Like I’m okay with a blinker going out or what ever jus not anything with the dash or battery?
Where is you’re brain lol
@@ontariodoublex2713 lmaoo idk, I wasn’t sure if it was gonna do anything If I kept it like that while driving, but I alr got everything figured out lol
I have mine wired like this I bought it from the last owner like this would not be better to replace the connected and connect or leave it how I bought it
What if you did that and the fan still not turning on
Then check your fan. If the fan works with direct power, then you have a problem somewhere with the Wiring
So what component is failing
Mine have 3 wire.😢
Any kind of wire?
Would the thermostat sensor be the same as the coolant temperature sensor?
the coolant temperature sensor would be on bottom of the radiator. you would have one or the other depending on the year.
Okay thanks.
So does that mean there is a bad thermostats
Means the sensor is bad because you’re testing the sensors plug the thermostat itself.
I try do that but my fan don't kick off
Bad relay, probably
So what does it mean if the fan turns on when you jump
the wires?
Probably a relay not working
It means a faulty temperature Senser
it stopped, it didn't die.
Should both fans turn on at the same time so people tell me that one’s only for the ac
The AC Fan only kicks on when you turn on the AC that is correct. The radiator fan only kicks on when the engine temp gets to hot or the relay is going bad or the temperature switch on the thermostat.
I replaced the radiator fan switch an it still doesn’t turn on only when ac on fans are on
@@alexmoro9095 Did you replace both Sensors? Ones a cooling fan and another is a Temperature cooling sensor
Idk yet if my cooling fan is turning but considering my ac blows cold when I'm drivng but when I stop or I'm in slow traffic it stops blowimg as cold and eventually my car will start to run hot after about 15 mins or so. As long as I'm going consistently fast enough it blows cold. Im assuming that's the fan itself and it's drawing from my battery causing it to die if I say leave my doors open for more then maybe 5 mins to unload it. Rrlays are fine guess this is my next step. Any suggestions of anything else to try besides a jump wire test?
Same problem here!
it’s the thermostat, you’ll need to replace it.
Can i leave the paper clip there ?
So when you pull the shorting wire and the fan turns off, this means your thermostat switch is bad, right?
No if you put the wire in and nothing happens that means the fan is bad
Am I right thinking both of these guys are correct ?
My fan doesn’t blow hard, any advice?
It's probably getting worn out, or the bearings are going bad, so I would recommend getting a new fan there, not really that expensive or hard to change out i recommend checking out 1A auto for the fans compared to using a auto part stores like auto zone they will be double the cost for the same fan !
Why do my fans turn ON when I unplug that fan switch and turn OFF when in short with a paper clip like u have done.
Thanx a lot for the tutorial
maybe bad fan relay? idk thats really weird
That’s because it set up backwards. My 2000 Camry fans run all the time when the sensor is unplugged. Once plugged in it’s off
hi will this work for 2008 civic. Is this also called shorting it?
Maybe not try this .i did it and temp gauge stays at top even when not plugged in now
should work for any vehicle with a coolant temperature sensor of this standard type
@@ShlamTorray thanks
@@zeez4178 unhook your battery from the car and hook back up, that will reset your readouts, you basically caused the computer to think the engine was like insanely hot when you put the paper clip in there, so it may cause lasting error codes until reset
@@oldskolacura9798 thanks
Ended up be the fan itself. Even tho the fan would work when unplugging temp, sending u. Or just putting power to it. Wasn't accepting the single to turn on. I guess. It worked. 🤔
How to check if the fan power consumption is higher than the car can handle. Because when the fan starts i see a drop on my rpms.
It work thanx 👏👏👏
Worked for me but not trying to drive around for long like this or can I ?? What do I have to replace tho if I want to the whole fan ? That plug ?
Make sure that your relay is working and also make sure that your temp sensor is working
@@CB7Media Can I do this to make sure the fans stay on until I get home?
What dose it mean if the fan doesn't turn on when jumping wire?
When my car running the fan will not come on but when I unplug temperatur unit while it's running the fan kicks on?
Same here have you found out anything about how to fix it?
thermostart bad
Ect sensor is bad

That means you have a bad coolant sensor
