  • Honda Fans not working?
    DO this easy check First!
If your Honda Fans aren't working it can be easy repair.
I found that both the radiator fan and the AC fan weren't working.
On a 2002 Honda CRV or most Honda's including Civic and Accord, there's an easy check that can be done to see if you need to repair
or replace the fans, relays, temperature switch or even the fuses.
The temperature switch is an easy repair and it's even easier to replace. You can get the part from Amazon.com for cheap!

My man that was spot on. It worked on my 99 civic. Thanks loads! I had put in a new thermostat, it kept overheating after that, then I noticed the fan wasn't running, did the paperclip and I'm back in the game. Ordering that switch today.

    • @CommonGuy
      @CommonGuy 5 років тому +1

So my fans came on with the clip and I replaced the switch. So do the fans come on (both) when the A/C is running after the switch is replaced? Mine didn’t!!! I tried to let it heat up but it was getting hotter than normal and fans didn’t come on!!! This is the one at the bottom of the radiator that was replaced. Do I have a 2nd switch on the motor? 2004 Honda CR-V?

This was my problem I would have never thought of! Car overheated on the highway, water boiling, no fans on. Ac fan worked fine, but it was intermittent. Did what you did, and by god both fans came roaring to life! Even works for my 04 civic. And now I'm happy again, and I have "I like peanut butter" stuck in my head 😂 Basically what I'm trying to say is thank you.

  • @dragongeraldb

You know what, i am the same and it usually comes down to checking the simple things first, i notice a mechanic will run every test under the sun, try and sell you on other parts to replace and only go "by the book" that ends up costing you sometimes more then if you went out and bought another car. Thank you so much and you are now my favorite channel.

this helped a lot. Thank you! Watched several videos (a few of yours too) Was quoted almost $800 to fix my a/c and Fan issue... I swapped my cooling fan motor myself in about 1 hour, paid $71.00 for that and also swapped a relay switch ($15), and the PCV valve ($24 - I could have got it cheaper but didn't feel good about the part quality).... All in all, I saved a ton of money and my issue is fixed.... (posting the same Thank you message on several vids...)

Man, feel like an idiot. You saved me from taking everything apart again. I replaced everything. I am embarassed for not checking electrical components first, cause I have been told that all the time forever and skipped it and just started replacing things. 600 dollar lesson learned. I couldn't find a video to address anything I had an idea about. Always the same stuff. When I came across this video yesterday, it was clear and understandably easy to understand. I couldnt believe how I completely missed that. After doing the test. Its like everything clicked and and fell into place like dominoes.

these kinda vids are just what im looking for man! i bought this 99 civic for $1,500 it's a nice little car but pretty beatdown exterior and interior but whatever i'm using it as a work car you can say. i'm doing alot of doordash & postmates, gas here in cali is $4.25/gal -_- so this 35 mpg civic is a MUST!. alreaedy put down 15k miles on it in under a year but made some pretty decent bank on the deliveries i can say :) so you wouldn't want that kinda wear and tear on your nice new car right? still taking care of it the best i can but by any means im not trying to put in any unnecessary cash into this. just bought it to billy ray cyrus this bitch and ride it till i cant no more. hoping to get a couple more years out of this so far a great investment but these janky fix vids is JUST WHAT I NEED! my fan was a 15 dollar fix, when the mechanic said $400 to replace it all so ty sir! it is appreciated

@@CommonGuy Hi man,I am not a professional mechanic by any means, but I did some research and this is to you or to anyone reading this, yes, there are apparently 2 temperature sensors on some honda cars (mine is a 06 civic) one at the bottom of the radiator which is connected to your temperature gage that you see inside the car, the other sensor is on the motor and it is what makes the fans turn on after reaching a specified temperature.

    Thank you! It works perfectly!
Now I need the part for my 2006 crv.
On my european model I had to squeeze my arm almost to the bottom ofvthe engine room.
You wouldn't know how to fix the green blinking light?

Great informative video. Having same issue w/ my '98 Civic. Although I DID hit a dear recently and that may be causing my AC fan not to function, your video aided me in the troubleshooting process
