      I have a Honda City 2021 model (Asian spec.... In South Africa its a Ballade) anyways, i notice these radiator caps are really crap. or they seem crap. They dont have a good tight fit or they just dont see to have much of a press down when u open them, i wonder if they even seal well? My car has only dont 21000 kilometers but the climate here is a killer, extremely hot... humid weather. How will i know when to change my cap.... besides checking the rubber for strange cracks or warps....

      Warped and cracked rubber seal on the cap will cause a vacuum leak when the radiator is trying to draw in coolant from the recovery tank. Don't ask how I know this

    Thanks for the video. Since I don't live in a cold climate, I have never used antifreeze. I have never had any kind of problems running my vehicles like this. Now of course if I lived in a cold climate I would use antifreeze. That's why they call it antifreeze!😊

      @@bentrider You're welcome 👍 Nice, yes running distilled water straight is fine during warm months or like you in warm climate. Water does not offer some of the benefits of coolant though like anti corrosion as well as water can evaporate easier

    • @bentrider
      @bentrider 2 місяці тому +1

      @@JonnyDIY thanks for the reply. As to your points. Corrosion does not occur any more with plain water than it does with antifreeze. I have proven that to myself over the years. The water actually looks cleaner after two or three years than my former antifreeze did. Think about it. In order for corrosion (which is rust), to occur you need to be adding oxygen. If there is no oxygen being added, then the only oxygen would be in the water and that will only do so much.
      Water should not evaporate that much. If you have a tight system, the only place it might escape would be in your coolant reservoir. I have never noticed loss of water due to evaporation.
      One benefit of running a water only system is that you do not have to deal with hazardous chemicals. You also do not have to pay for these hazardous chemicals.😀

    Change of your thermostate means changing your radiator cap and you're good to go, if not its your radiator that needs to be flushed because it is clogged if not its your head gasket that's blown. Try and pinpoint where its leaking from. A hose or line back there. Worst case scenario is it's leaking from headgasket. You can do a pressure test on cooling system to help find leak. In the mean time keep topped off with at least water and keep eye on temperature gauge until you can find leak. If you check on cold engine and first start up you can sometimes find leak easier
