Good video to see how a bad fuel pump will act. Fuel issues is the biggest problem with outboards. Once you fix that your buddy will try to make you fall off the boat😂
The 40 really sounds good. He still has a little ways to go to get everything working just right, but it'll be a nice little boat for him and his son. Nice video and I'm sure he really appreciates your expertise.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah they've really gotten alot done since that day. New control, rewired the tilt n trim working again, new silencer gasket, new pump, put the floor in and carpet, running some seafoam and fuel additives through it. It's really coming along good. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
You have a lot more patience than me! I’ve had issues with the check valves in “cheap” Atwood primer bulbs even when new. An OEM OMC/Quicksilver/Yamaha bulb is always worth the money they hold up much better.
Update on my StarCraft Holiday 14. Thanks to a good number of your videos i managed to get it on the water after iceout. It was putting along at maybe 15 mph and after a good 130psi compression test and finding out the cable on coil 2 was dry rotted and not insulation I did a temporary fix. And ignoring that starting issue and generally not wanting to idle, once it got moving boy it could move. Ill be rebuilding the carb and checking the pump since it seems it might be a common issue. This might be similarly what's wrong with my 78 Johnson 35 horse. I did buy carb kit and new coils from west marine the other day too. Seems they all have the same failure points (being left to rot for too long) The restoration is slow but steady. Though the one part im having a hard time getting is the electric choke. If you ever come across one online or otherwise, let me know.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in & Thanks for the great comment! I really appreciate it. I'm afraid to ask what you paid for parts at WM. so I won't. Search this number on ebay 0385554 and search it again without the 0, 385554. Inside Outboards, kodibass here on youtube probably has some and possibly RI Outboards may also. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 luckily, west marine has a price match policy and i was able to fish out the correct price from them. The part number helped a lot too, im not too savvy with this online stuff and must've been dancing right around the correct search. Thanks a ton
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 yeah when i fist started looking for parts i stumbled on west marine and found they had a retail location just 15 minutes away. Looking at their prices compared to what i found elsewhere, i immediately looked for a price match in their FAQ.
Nice job getting it up to par, just today I have a electrical linear pump (trim tab pump) coming in the mail that I am going to use for a tilt trim, I will have to build a ss bracket to mount it do some electrical and cross my fingers, I just can not find an original pump from the early eighties so I have to do something. have fun
Hey Thanks for tuning in. I'll bet Inside Outboards, AKA Kodibass has what your looking for. If not you may be better off with a cmc trim tilt unit. Probably find a good used one on ebay and/or the t-n-t unit you need. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Will stay tuned for sure, I check kodibass but I seriously do not think they will have one, mine is a johnson 82 50hp tiller it requires a tilt and trim similar to the one in this video (mounted on the side not underneath) I think mine is something like Presto pump now the one in this video is outside the motor as well but not the same style trim pump unit as the one I would need. Well today in the mail I got the Lenco electric linear actuator (there used for trim tabs) and I removed the original aluminum bracket that mounted on the motor shaft housing and made a Stainless steel bracket to take it's place and I have to make another ss bracket for the transom tomorrow I will hopefully finish the project so I can go fishing the next day :)

Thanks for another great TOO video experience! She is hummin! Can I ask if the check valve was gunked up and stuck? Is it between the fuel pump and carby - on the outlet side of the pump?
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. I put my pump on before I knew about the check valve, have done 3 test and all good, I'm gonna order a new one, I still need to order the silencer gasket too. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Now she’s singing a high note. He was a little excited with the throttle 😂

Up to me knees with wet balls, bad back, and a guy dying on the pier! Great video! 🤣
