Brings back some memories. We were a Glasstream dealer in the late 1980s. They were a copy of Laser boats and performed very well. Fast boats with an efficient hull design. I remember distinctly a black and silver one exactly like this one we rigged with a Yamaha ProV 150. It ran very well. I think radared that one in the mid 70 mph range. They were relatively cheaply built boats though, but were priced accordingly. Surprised to see a survivor. Most would completely rotted out by now. Floor, transom, stringers. Nice. I had a much newer Force 120 HP which was the exact same engine as this one but tuned and rebranded. I think by Bayliner? Quality doesn't compare to the Japanse brands but still a fun motor to work on
I loved the old Chrysler outboards. If you took care of them they would last a long time and run the same speed it doesn’t matter if they were on a boat or strapped to a 2x6 about 32 mph…
Spray white bed liner and leave out the carpet. Also spray it where to seats go. Get your live well pumps replaced. Change out your engine lower transom water pump impellers and oil. Spray paint the engine cowling. Redo all the wiring.
A little history on Chrysler outboards for those that don’t know. Not sure what year the first Chrysler outboard came out but I know 1984 was the last year they had the Chrysler name on them. US marine bought them in 1985 I believe. The motors remained white for a few years afterwards then they started painting them black and changed the cowlings. No through hub exhaust and not having the engineering they couldn’t compete with other engine manufactures. Later on Mercury marine took them over.
Yes they are, too much work imo! I'm very thankful, I own a 1978 17' er and it has glass stringers. Had a 1977 same brand and it too had glass stringers

That Chrysler sounds good.
When it’s on the water it looks like a boat from Mad Max 😂😂
Yessss. That's what I'm saying man! I love the way it looks. Everybody's saying to polish it up and I'm like whoa whoa not yet.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow yes rebuild the inside. Refiberglass and make it presentable and safe. Check the hull for cracking. Great content if you do rebuild it 🙏👍
We had a 45 Chrysler on our 15 ft bow rider. It was a great engine.
The tester you have is kind of cool! You have unlocked the subscription and the bell notification achievement in one video.
I’ve got two force engines with a Chrysler block I’d trust more than a brand new Yamaha
Hah! In your dreams. You hardly have to touch Yamahas with a wrench. All you do with force is work on them and keep them barely alive with used parts. No thanks, I’ll take the 4stroke Yamaha
"Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while" lol
@@threeeightythree6.3l77 yeah cause who doesn’t want a pristine block hot off the line that sips fuels and built by the Japanese? Lol “I’d like my brand new boat outfitted with an ‘82 Chrysler force please.😂😂😂”
@@SEMIfishing yes please! Haha!
Chrysler force outboards were junk brand new age does not improve them
What an awesome score buddy love it. Please restore this boat Jeremy Downunder
I like the strategically placed dead trees placed all over the boat in the beginning.
Funny, a few other people said that as well. I've never staged anything in any of my videos. But oh well, people always going to be skeptical. I mean it's really not that far-fetched if you seen what the boat looks like and how long it's been sitting. You never had a branch fall in your yard? Lol
that boat looks like it would have been fantastic boat when she was in her prime
Yeah that's for sure. She's got all the bells and whistles
Glassstream was a cheap built boat
Dam you are talented being able to fix that boat
Put some trust in that old impeller thought it was done when it stopped, cool vid. You could name it "Patina" cheers
I've been watching videos from a channel called that boat guy and nine times out of ten he replaces the water impeller so that was my first thought when I didn't see the engine pee. Still probably needs to be replaced.
Nice small boat for some cool moment on river. Love to have such one.
The best video on UA-cam
Nice. I had a much newer Force 120 HP which was the exact same engine as this one but tuned and rebranded. I think by Bayliner? Quality doesn't compare to the Japanse brands but still a fun motor to work on
Casually says “the transom is broken”
Also casually says “it’s time for a river run”
That was dangerous and foolish!!! He could have ended up swimming home or that engine could have ended up on the bottom of the river/lake or both!
My thoughts exactly 😀
Those old Lowrance flashers are pretty bulletproof. Being outside for years might kill it.
I loved the old Chrysler outboards. If you took care of them they would last a long time and run the same speed it doesn’t matter if they were on a boat or strapped to a 2x6 about 32 mph…
Dude I kept saying "please shop vac it, please shop vac it", and you finally did. Great video!
Before you clean mouse nests by hand and especially by shopvac, search "hanta virus".
My uncle has that same engine and ran it for 10 yrs hard. Held up well!
I’ve got two Skeeters I’ve been sitting on for 10 years. Wish they’d disappear. Great video.
Funny I was just going to ask where you're from. I'm assuming Texas. Lol. I would love to grab them and make a video or two.
If you're serious about unloading them, shoot me an email or a message on Instagram or Facebook. My email is in the about section of my channel page
Looked up the milage. Bout 3100 miles, round trip. These boats ain't worth that.
Oh got you. Darn. Well I appreciate the offer anyway!
Chrysler Corp. bought our West Bend in the 60’s.
Pretty iconic hull design kinda batman fishing boat !
I had a 125 on a Bayliner it was so awesome easy to maintain everything was right there it's basically a Mercury
how are the stringers - if they are rotten like every other bit of wood it's alot of work
Yes they are, too much work imo! I'm very thankful, I own a 1978 17' er and it has glass stringers. Had a 1977 same brand and it too had glass stringers
