It's awesome to see a father and son working hard together and sharing valuable time together. What a steal for $2000. I felt bummed for you when the stern drive went.
The best part of this renovation is tht you had tht quality time with your dad and family to accomplish the dream of the boat. A lot of people think tht maintaining a boat and renovation is easy but it’s not. Great make over and hands up for the finish. 👍👏🙌
Your pops helping you out with this project, just loving to be there is what I dream of as a father to a little one. I can only pray that I'm able to do the same for my boy sometime down the road. Appreciate how good you got it bro bro.
Great video !! I don’t know why it popped up on my feed but I’m glad it did .. watching a father and son enjoy time together is what we need more in America … I imagine you guys hunt together and fish but I’m sure he loved this project because you got to work hand in hand with him and he was able to see his son work like a man lol the man he created, he must be very proud … god bless and keep the videos coming … I will sub and watch your other videos …
You all have inspired me to continue my own boat project. I have learned so much from watching this video. Thanks for the tutorials. Your family is awesome!!! Excellent job!!!
Aside from the work that ThatBoatGuy does, this was one of the best boat resto vids I’ve seen. The attention to detail and planning that went into this to make a boat work for you two is amazing. Gets me excited to restore a boat with my son lol
Beautiful restoration, thanks for sharing. Thanks for making everyone aware that if you put some effort you make everything shine. I wish you the best times of your lives. Thank you.
Outstanding work! You and your Dad and family are quite the talented crew. You guys had a vision and skills to make it happen. The rebirth of this boat is a thing of beauty. Tight lines!
I did the same thing with my dad when I was 19. We went in halfs on an old 18ft Thompson for $1300. Bought it at the end September and spent the fall removing the seats/cushions, carpet, engine cover and any damaged sections of the floor. No garage so we wrapped it for winter. Spent the winter picking out and buying new seating, carpet and other supplies. My dad made a new engine cover. I was working at a lumber yard so I got a good discount on the building supplies. Come spring we started on the flooring and covered it with a layer of fiberglass. Carpet, seats, new cushions for the bow and a new piece of tempered glass for the walk through windshield. Over the years we've made other upgrades and repairs but have always split the costs 50/50. It's not always about the money. Sometimes it's about spending time with someone and them passing on their knowledge. 19 years later and he's 73 but we still use it every season.
I dig this. Im restoring a 1966 all Aluminum 18' cabin cruiser. It looks haggard cosmetically but i put a new Yamaha on it and it doesnt leak a drop. Fun on the water. Id put a 100+ watt solar panel between your rod holder and light bar to extend battery life.
I like the hunting side of things more, but it's really nice to change it up and see the fishing stuff, too. Love the boat and want to see it in action.
What a wonderful video, I love seeing you and your dad on this project. It is such an inspiration. This was somewhat of an emotional ride for me because I no longer have my dad. Cherish one another while you have the time, beautiful family. Thank you.
Very nice restoration. On hulls like this with outdated stern drives I really like modifying them by removing the drive system, installing an outboard bracket, and cover ring to an outboard motor.
My buddy had exact same boat 20 years ago on Lake Superior(Duluth Mn). We did wreck diving and fishing out on Isle Royale. We trolled many many hours. I recall heavy weather and monster waves and huge lake trout! The old slick did just fine even loaded with gear and provisions for a week. Only complaint is low cabin roof. Many bumps on head(as you know). He developed outdrive problems with the OMC and couldnt find parts. He gave the boat to his nephew. Keep your eye out for another spare. He now has a c-dory with twin honda 40s. Another nice craft! You did a great restore. Enjoy.
Sweet build!! Love that you repurposed that awesome cuddy, I’ve fished a lot of Utah lakes, they are epic. Raised in Oregon fishing across the state, now live in SW Texas and have been fishing 3 times in 10 years 🥺. Pretty pathetic, I live 40 minutes from Lake Amistad and have never fished it. Your video has lit that fire under me arse! Thanks for taking us along your journey!! Rip that Lip!!
Love what you guys did, totally incredible, I did a similar rebuild, the only difference was,I removed the I/O completely, glassed in a plug into the transom from both sides and added an Armstrong bracket, and added a 300hp outboard, and then had room for an additional fuel tank. Just didn't want to trust the I/O offshore. Great job,you should open up your own shop!! You definitely have the skills!!!
Fantastic project, fantastic filming and naration, what a great dad and family. I run a 17' Boston Whaler in Jordanelle, Deer Creek, Lake Powell, Utah Lake, Bear Lake, San Diego off shore etc. I had to forfit having a cuddy space but decided on Center Console. I installed the same Garmin Echo that you did in July of 2023. Its incredible. I also have a 24' Maxum open bow with a 7.4L MPI with dual counter prop Bravo 3 outdrive. In my senior age I needed something smaller. I live in South Jordan. I'll be looking for you and this amazing restored Sleekcraft and wave you down.
I don't own a boat, I don't fish, but I just watched the full hour video with the UA-cam recommendation, haha. Awesome work you and your Dad (and other family members) did restoring that boat. Cheers from Canada.
Very cool restore. My father bought a cutty cab 20+ years ago and it as never touched water as he was going to restore it. He got half way and then stopped. We tried working on it years ago and he said he wanted to do it himself, but it still sits. Now that his health is failing I think he may let us finish the restore on it so we can take him and my mother out. Thanks for the inspiration from one Utahn to another.
Nice nice nice . Wow on the Transformation to an awesome fishing boat. Noticed the original OMC transom seal is still in place. Might want to think about replacing this seal at some point. When this seal fails it is never a pretty sight. Great job outfitting tackle and electronics.
Never had a boat with down riggers. Maybe you could do a tutorial about how they work and why they are so helpful, and how they work? Great job! Beautiful!
down riggers are just strings with weights so you can troll at deeper depths without added weight. depending on the depth you add a certain weigh and your line goes through a clip at the bottom. fancy stuff
Amazing build. I just found your channel and now subscribed. On your rod holders. I would use the plastic grommets used for wiring and put them where you drilled. It would give a nice finish to it and prevent the drilled area from getting chipped or flaking when you put the rods in or out and prevent the rods from showing wear there too. They are going to bounce around a lot when on the water or trailering. They make all different sizes up to large ones you see in tables for running wires. Should also look at some LED strip lighting to put around the edges of the interior to light up the walkways or things on the floor at night. Would look pretty cool. Might also want to see if you can replace the dated halogen bulbs in the cabin lights with LED replacement bulbs to give a more modern glow and use less power. That is one sick looking boat and you guys should be proud of yourselves!
Getting ready to do a similar build, won't be for fishing but rather spending time with family and just enjoying the lake. Your build turned out beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Need to get that out here on Willard bay for some Wipers when they’re boiling. You may only hook a five pounder but they fight like they’re 20 lbs. Glad to see your vision came true and the memories can begin. Another good time would be out on Flaming Gorge hooking a kokanee salmon.
Great job on all the renovation details, etc. Not sure how your boat is vented in your engine bilge area to the front under your floors but I would suggest you look into getting a Carbon monoxide monitor that alarms for your front cabin especially if your child sleeps in the front.
Boat looks beautiful. Your 36v battery is pronounced epic at least that's what the company calls it! Keep up the great videos and we will keep watching!
My Dad and I built my 1st boat and had a great time doing it together like you guys did. It is fun building or fixing up a boat . Looking forward to seeing you two in the future fishing and I bet your not done tweaking with the boat. It turned out great .
Really enjoyed this video from start to finish awesome build reconfiguring, upgrades and new features and improvements nice family participation. Thanks 😊
You can't put a price on the father and son time so that is priceless. I am curious now that you are done how much money you think you saved over a comparable boat if you were to buy one. What a project! Sounds like you had a lot of available resources that helped with the project. Tight lines! Hope to see you somewhere on a UT pond.
Definitely will never forget the bonding time. And I think all said and done I think we have a comparable boat as some modern cabin boats for about 30% of the price
That's a big undertaking. Great job. There are lots of vintage boats around here in the Great Lakes region that could use a makeover like that. More fishing content would be great.
Excellent video of a great project with family and fishing partners! We’ll done! Get some fishing content and make note of anything you’d change. Tight lines!
Looks great Much more room. If that engine fails you consider a bracket and outboard Also keep a lookout for a fresh water cooling setup. One other thing research draining the cooling water in the winter if it freezes There should be some peacocks on the block you can use to drain.
What a great video Matt. I like things like this. I hope to get a small boat one of theses days. Glad that you guys are putting more fishing videos out when you are not out hunting.
Matt, Very Impressive build. So many awesome Upgrades & I can't wait to see you catching a ton of Kokanee this year with it. That Aqua Traction CNC cut & possibly Laser Engraved Hush Logo is Awesome. My son & I laughed a little when you said 3D printed. glad to see young people still loving the American way.
Me and my dad fishing.....priceless.
Love seeing old boats restored into a new lofe. Great work!
Great video !! Make sure that the engine compartment exhaust fans work and let them run a minute before you start the engine ! Gas fumes RIP !
Definitely a priority thanks man!
Beautifully done!
Blower needs to run for at least 4 minutes before starting.
Wow! Amazing!
You all have inspired me to continue my own boat project. I have learned so much from watching this video. Thanks for the tutorials. Your family is awesome!!! Excellent job!!!

What a transformation. I really enjoyed it.

Appreciate it man! It was definitely fun!
$1000 was a steal. The engine & outdrive should be worth more than that alone! Boat has LOTS of possibilities for sure.

Really cool project! Especially since you’re doing it with your dad. You’ll both remember this experience forever.
Wow what a transformation. Is a great thing working alongside your father and family, treasure those moments

Awesome. I can tell your dad is genuinely super excited.

I'm about to start a complete rebuild of 21' 1975 Reinell cuddy. Thanks for sharing your journey. I plan to share mine as well.
Looks Great. I bought a 1979 Slick in ‘79 and loved it for more than 20 yrs.
Very nice restoration. On hulls like this with outdated stern drives I really like modifying them by removing the drive system, installing an outboard bracket, and cover ring to an outboard motor.
Want to do this bad. Just need someone with experience
My buddy had exact same boat 20 years ago on Lake Superior(Duluth Mn). We did wreck diving and fishing out on Isle Royale. We trolled many many hours. What a beautiful job you and your family have done! Watching your videos to get some ideas for my next boat project. Thank you for your videos.
Super restoration. Good times with your Dad that will be with you a life time.

Would love to pick your brain about the geometry and technicalities of doing the conversion. Really want to do one.
Fantastic project, fantastic filming and naration, what a great dad and family. What a great looking boat! and nothing like a son and pop build! Makes me really miss my old boats.
Those body shop skills came in handy for all that masking. I have used raptor liner in and out of some of my builds. It's awesome stuff.
I don't own a boat, I don't fish, but I just watched the full hour video with the UA-cam recommendation, haha. Awesome work you and your Dad (and other family members) did restoring that boat. Cheers from Canada.
Nice work Matt! Looks like a fun project! And to work on with your dad “priceless”!
Thank you! I agree!
That is a remarkable restoration. Congratulations to you all.
very admirable renovation and upgrade of a family memory making project of love!
Appreciate it!
cool rebuild. I love that you guys put the new prop on backwards and had to flip your gears to make it work. So awesome.
Awesome restoration, love these old boats. Older boats are the best in my opinion, love it.
Very cool restore. My father bought a cutty cab 20+ years ago and it as never touched water as he was going to restore it. He got half way and then stopped. My neighbor had one in Detroit back in the 70's. I was really jealous as that is one fine boat.
Matt, awesome boat build. You have taken an old 1000.00 boat to the Supreme level. Cudos to you and your Dad
What a great build Matt, you and your dad (and others) did an amazing job. Can't wait to see some Hush fish videos in the future.
Nice nice nice . Wow on the Transformation to an awesome fishing boat.
Noticed the original OMC transom seal is still in place. Might want to think about replacing this seal at some point. When this seal fails it is never a pretty sight. Great job outfitting tackle and electronics.
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for posting you guys are my favorite UA-cam channel love hunting sheds and fishing
What a cool project with your pop. Those are great memories that will live forever.
Come up awesome what a great looking boat plenty of good fishing trips to share with dad.

Y'all did a Beautiful job on restoring that boat. Really is a 2023 boat now. And that wrap is lovely.
Loved watching this. Good work fellas!
Appreciate it!
THIS is the boat restoration video that makes me never want to buy a new boat. Helluva job y’all did on it 🤙🏻
Nice job guys. I'd do the whole side of the boat in that topo, but I am sure that is expensive. Nice touch on the painting the sterndrive as well.
Getting ready to do a similar build, won't be for fishing but rather spending time with family and just enjoying the lake. Your build turned out beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the video. I hope you guys have a blast on this for many years to come!! God bless yall!

Beautiful job on the boat build. Hope U and the family have some great times and make lots of good memories.
My Dad and I built my 1st boat and had a great time doing it together like you guys did.
It is fun building or fixing up a boat . Looking forward to seeing you two in the future fishing and I bet your not done tweaking with the
boat. It turned out great .
Great work! Only small tip I can suggest is when drilling holes through the gel coat should chamfer the holes or you will start to see cracks form
Cool equipment .. cool boat. I bet you were super excited getting that gear.
Y’all killed it!
One of the best boat rebuilds I’ve ever seen
Really enjoyed this video from start to finish awesome build reconfiguring, upgrades and new features and improvements nice family participation. Thanks 😊
It’s time for some fishing challenges “das boat 3.0” hush style!! Awesome build video and I’m looking forward to seeing some great fishing content!

WOW, YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE BOAT .
You guys all did a awesome job! Boat looks fantastic! Happy fishing!
I would love to see some fishing videos on this boat.
Loved this video Matt. Please have more fishing content on this channel!
That's the plan!
That's a big undertaking. Great job. There are lots of vintage boats around here in the Great Lakes region that could use a makeover like that. More fishing content would be great.
Will do my best!
Outstanding. Way cool build, probably one of my favorite videos so far. So detailed and step by step.
Appreciate this comment!
You guys did a stellar job on that boat, it turned out beautiful! I love everything you did to it including the color scheme.
Love those old Slickcrafts. We still see them here in Michigan on the Great Lakes.
Excellent video of a great project with family and fishing partners! We’ll done! Get some fishing content and make note of anything you’d change. Tight lines!
Great idea
Looks great Much more room. If that engine fails you consider a bracket and outboard Also keep a lookout for a fresh water cooling setup. One other thing research draining the cooling water in the winter if it freezes
There should be some peacocks on the block you can use to drain.
Great restomod wish more people restored older boat 👍🏼
What a great video Matt. I like things like this. I hope to get a small boat one of theses days. Glad that you guys are putting more fishing videos out when you are not out hunting.
Take good care of your dad, absolute top lad!
The Boat came out amazing!!! Well done 👍
This was really cool! I would be very interested in what a final cost would have been if everything was purchased.
Appreciate it! Definitely will have to add it up at some point!
Great choice on the Epoch Battery those things are terrific love them
Let’s go !
Heck ya man glad to see epoch brother haha
Hands down best battery
Nice job! I charted inshore out of VB, VA for 20 years on a 23 Parker walk around that I restored and setup similar. Enjoy!
Absolutely loved this video. Can’t wait to see some fishing videos with the new boat.
Lets make it happen!
what a great find, the boat looks amazing. great videos, you have a great dad too. that loves to help.
This was an awesome video full of detail and good explanations! Can’t wait what the future holds for this boat!
Such a nice looking boat, wish we had boats like this in the UK.
Incredible boat build! Very impressed with the before and after. Can't wait to see it in action! 🎣

Thank you!
Man you guys did an amazing job on that classy old boat love it…can’t wait to see y’all fishing videos
What a lot of work, with some frustrating, real life problems, especially that motor, ouch..., but looks like it's way Worth it & helps us all know we all go through problems, but to just keep pushing on to make our Dreams come True.
Let's Go~!
Appreciate it man! And yes hahah definitely a lot of miss pronounced phrases in this vid 😂
@gethushin No problem. I do the same... It must be a Matthew thing, 😁
Fish Lake this Weekend, Get Some
You two are just like me and my son. We do the same stuff with our boats.
Lets gooo, this was super cool. Yes we need more vids on this gal. Sweet build and great way to bring what most throw away back to life.
It looks so good!
You inspire me to do something similar!
Great job on your boat!
