Man what an awesome class and looks like it fits right in the base game.
Cycle of life would be super powerful with a team that has a lot of burst damage. A high ac helion can easily get a quick kill at the beginning of the round.
I found this class and subbed to it AGES ago, but in its earliest forms, the grammar and spelling describing it in the Town buildings was laughable. I revisited a few months ago, and saw that it'd been majorly overhauled. Had some trouble using it at first because I was treating it like a frontline fighter, but after taking a step back and taking a harder look at the class, I saw that it was more of a trickster with incredible utility.
I now use it mainly for summoning plants- which in itself is an INCREDIBLE move- and occasionally some fun experimental team comps.
I totally get your enthusiasm over this class- it's got an amazing moveset, some really fun mechanics, and a beautiful set of sprites. Its very much a product of a lot of investment and refinement.

The person responsible for overhauling his grammar and spelling would be me! You may recognize me as the dude that also revised succubus and grove tender, and wrote iron man, dild and grappler! (And helped with the to-be-released Bloat.) Glad to hear you enjoy it.

I'm really happy how this still feels lovecraftian since he mentions all sorts of shamanism in his works, but doesn't contain the racism he later in life so regretted.

Tested this class yesterday ... I am speechless. Just Doublestrike, Stealth back and Birds of pray alone is an op combo and that's just 2 abilities. Cannot Wait to uncover what other comboes there are between the rest of his skill kit or with other classes.
What an awesome class. Would be really interesting to use against the brigand pounder, and the necromancer, to stop the extra summons with the flowers.
when i first installed this mod, i decided to play around his corpse flower because of its uniqueness. So i bring him to apprentice dungeon with party of raw damage dealer, no DoTs to ensure that i will have plenty of corpses. He felt so powerful and steamroll through everything. But when he reached veteran and champion level dungeon, his corpse flowers feel rather lackluster to me. So i changed his kit to focus on the bird of prey skill with bleed on the side. Putting sky hunter and another +crt trinket on him making him raining crit with that move especially in the first round. Naturally he excels in the weald and warren but not so much in the late game. because he has roguish survivability but he have to move to the front line to use his damage dealing skills, making it risky when going up against the Swine Skiver and the Giant. instead, for me the area that really make him shine is the sunward isle. His bird of prey is very valuable in the isles because of how annoying the umbrella yokais are. And most yokais in the isles are weak to bleed too.
One skill that i find my self not using a lot is spirit of the hunt. this skill seems to have a lot of restrictions for not much reward. So i only use it if i want to kit him to be backline corpse flower spawner equipping with the eternal seed.

Have you ever considered making a video about The Monk? The class is pretty overpowered I think but still really fun and beaitifully designed

This class is utterly insane in combination with modded trinkets. Because some of the trinkets apply effects on each hit. However due to beastmaster being able to attack twice, you can do some hilariously funny things. Especially if you're running Trinket Variety Project.
Just gave this game a shot and... I am in love with my new shuffle party (Monk, Beastmaster, Spartan, Shieldbreaker).
I wonder if you can do a guide on a class by dem22, called the Harlot. I can't figure out how to play the class at all, and I can't tell if its just me or the class is bad.

I'd love to use more this mod class but I still don't know how to use him well. Envionnement such a serious problem in our current generation and I adore nature guardian concept characters Plus I'm into Werewolf : Apocalypse.

Bro, Element, you gotta look into the Divinity- I'm trying to figure this thing out because it looks wild and it's skills are complicated, but it's aesthetically gorgeous and I wanna use it.

Update: so after a few dungeon runs with her, I can tell that she could use some polish, but the concept is fantastic. She's purely support with a lot of glaring weaknesses, but her skills have massive utility, and I love the idea of a false god sort of character in the Darkest Dungeon. But like I said, she's kind of weird and I feel like with the right set up she can just break the game. Hopefully the mod creator will flesh her out more or let someone with more experience take a shot at it, but I feel like while it might not be video-worthy, it's worth it to look into her a little deeper.
Side note I think it's awesome that you're out here keeping the discussion up in the comments, I feel like that's a super respectable thing to do. You're doing (Eldritch) God's work.

I love the class but after playing it I find his walking animation a bit wonky. Each foot is looking at a different direction while walking. It maybe is just a design choice it looks a bit weird to me.
Edit: this was just a nitpick, everything else in this mod is of course brilliant

The first decent mod for DD that gives us a working summoning skill... it's stuck to a melee centric character -_- unless I'm missing someone.

This mod was patched from bugs (like all mods should do example falconer that had over 100 patches now).
Some skills gets nerf, some buffs, native english speaker helped with strings.

Oh wow. Cannonneer is one of my favorite original mods. It's a bit silly, creative, great stuff. I don't think it's been updated past Color of Madness, and you can tell based on the way certain things like buffs and rounds work counter to how they changed after the major Critsmas' patch.
Because of that, it's hard for me to justify adding it to the list, but if AJ ever comes back to modding, you bet I'm going to really examine his work. :)

You make a good point, and it's just one of those goofier aspects of DD - The idea being that you get more stress heal value out of the Brothel.
I suppose they could have just as easily made this a negative quirk which makes it so that you're limited to the Brothel.
A little preachy for my liking. This game isn’t about such virtuous characters. Feels like it could use a framing tweak, but it’s not far off.
That said, a cool idea is a cool idea. Someone manifesting the spirits of animal within their own body is a radical idea. And I’ll always love summoners in games. Would never have imagined you could have a summonable unit in darkest dungeon.

Interesting but weak class unless you abuse corpse spawn mechanics (and bleed buff in some places, especially in farm). Also he have pretty bad synergy with himself - he really need corpses but use alot of bleed and good mainly in bleed parties. He really need some sort of "in you face" skill. Even GR have pickaxe and dagger. And yeah - his crit skill is seriously bad. Even at lvl 0, at lvl 5 its non-existent. Yes, you can buff bleed, but evein with +100% its +1 per 2.
You probabyl misread his crit buff. In addition to his unresitable bleed he gets Bonus crit vs bleeding. On a character with a doule strike CRT is more efficient since you can roll tiwce for criit with that move. And criting in the rpocess will even further increase the cirt chance since the crit buffs stack. So you can go into a kind of "bloodlust" mode when you chain his crits.
Oh and how this game works even a +10% bleed amount buff results in +1 point of bleed meaning even a small buff increases it to 2/2 unresistable armor piercing damage. I cannot see how that is weaker than the base game effects
@@kaywilk836 yeah, roll 2 times on 40% damage attacks with pretty mediocre base crit. Wonderful. Look for example on highway - his crit give him +20% damage. This is FAR superior than this. Also his crit bleed is NOT unresisable, lol. So yes, if we dont abuse his interesting, but broken plant - he is much weaker than any vanilla hero, even than GR.
@@Chikanuk Smh, do your math before you make such bold claims. Highwayman at lvl 5 has 16 MAX dmg. 20% of that are +2 points of NON armor piercing damage due to rounding. Thats exactly the amount theat beastmaster would deal by bleeding on level 1. So highwaymna has less DMG from his crit buff pre lvl 5. The Crit bleed has 130% base chance and it being a crit increase that by ~ 50%. 180% bleed chance i pretty much unresistable unless you go to lvl 5 cove or against skeletons. Highwayman and Grave Rrobber are designated damage dealers with (almost) no utility and no self heals whatsoever while beastaster has way more survivability and adaptability for the price of not dealing as much outright damage. Honestly no reason to further discuss that with you you shot twice and missed both times
@@kaywilk836 It seems you dont know how skills damage calculate, and how crits calculate. Google first, right now you just humiliating yourself. Or you bad at google and need me to explain it to you? Just ask. The crit bleed have 130%, and this is all. Cuz it apply as effect AFTER crit. Not WITH crit on skill. Learn the difference. He have just around the same survivability as GR - self stealth + cure vs self stealth + minor heal. But GR deals much more damage and dont care about any resistances. And still one of weakest vanilla heroes, right after Leper. About shots and misses - it sound pretty pathetic after your "unresistable bleed", you know =D
