Rothag here. Since e5 asked about team comps, I'll drop some insight into building a party containing the wretch.
Do not get caught in thinking blight characters=synergy! Despite high blight numbers being visually pleasing, the only part of wretch that benefits blight stacking is Miasma (and sickly stab, but he can easily set that up himself). At the end of the day, it's still damage the enemy takes and that's it.
Instead, more direct synergies are characters that can benefit off of enemies being blighted, characters with ripostes that he can force guard on or characters that can shuffle him back into an ideal rank after he uses scurry or contagion. Probably the best character from the original pool to bring along with wretch is the man-at-arms. And if you want to try more modded classes, the snake charmer works almost too well with the wretch. They almost feel like they've been designed to work together (despite that not being the case). Snake charmer offers a riposte, shuffling potential, blights to benefit from Miasma, a stress control ability that also sets a juicy blight transfer up and he can even give our rat man an extra action with a debuff that barely cripples anything the wretch can do (blight transfers do not take blight chance into account). I hope this helps

Ok like great character and class. It's got great theming ,but my first thought was that hes the kinda guy to be awake at 3 AM just shoveling handfuls of cheese down his throat . This only became a funnier mental image when I soon found how rat themed he was.
e5 is going to have a field day making teams with all these mods

I really appreciate you doing this one: I had tried him when he first was released but uninstalled him very soon after, finding him lacking in pretty much every department except for Scurry; it turns out that I simply never recruited one with Outbreak, never unlocked the skill and thus crippled him from the outset from fulfilling more than a smidgen of his potential. Thank you for opening my eyes as to what he can really do and convincing me to give him another shot! Going to reinstall him right now, in fact.

This really validates why I put the work I do into these videos. It's quite easy to be frustrated by a class and feel like something's missing -- and I went through the same exact process streaming mods early on before Muscarine came into the community and started breaking everything down. I owe him a lot. :)

I totally dig the Wretch... one of my new favorite mods. He has great synergy with the Seer, Grave Robber, and other characters who take advantage of blighted foes. Have to try him with the Scourge yet, but that's bound to be fun. I also just noticed the rat on his shoulder pukes, too.

I think he and exanimate would work surprisingly well together, considering both work well with blight. Especially if you have him use scape goat on Examinate

Great design, great character, great gameplay overall. Not too strong, not too weak. Also its funny if you get his head - you literally in search for black plague. One of best synergy with him is indeed highwayman - he have ripost, he can move wretch back and overall pretty strong DD. And obviously Plague Doctor. But honestly wretch is ok with anyone.
Wow another video so soon? Well good stuff I'll have to try this guy out. For a team wretch,blight doctor, for sure. Not sure what else though depends on other mods or base chars I have.
I think having a shield breaker, graverobber and plague doctor with the wretch would be good due to the their blight abilities with some of their moves with the downside of limited healing and riposte but probably would do really well overall in cove and ruins by dealing with the enemy really quickly.

I think some good base game trinkets would be any +max health trinket and the hag's spoon (I forgot the name). Also have two of these guys in position 1 and 2 might work because they may be able to stack blight on each other. Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing u stream again.
Good to see you, Mr. Reggit! I think +HP is a natural choice here. I was advised not to because his self-blight relies on taking 10% hp damage which is more difficult with a higher pool. *shrug*
I was having trouble deciding how I wanted to fit the Wretch into my runs and comps. Hearing your thoughts on it have been a great help in deciding how to morph him to my own fantastically absurd play style. Excellent insight and work as always.

@@E5games Ah hell, I get some value out of all of them. We see things from slightly different perspectives. I always pick up something new, brother.
I use a massive trinket mod, which has an orange trinket that adds blight to any attack, but also blights the hero with 120% chance.
Imma put this on Wretch later.

I actually started on the homonc months ago and then got sick as the developer was making some changes. It's planned for sure. :)

A highway man fits with him in that they can shuffle back and forward all they want. Back line place plague doctor and a designated healer. But not one that cures on the heal. Vestle or occultist.
You can also ditch the plague doctor and go antiquitarian, so that he can actually guard someone and use his repost, while also benefiting from the reduced blight resist

A modded classes tierlist is definitely quite a difficult thing. There are not only hundreds of classes, they're frequently updated. If you pay attention to most of these videos, you'll often find wildly different opinions on balance and utility. :D

Hey E5, you should look at The Darkwraith class mod by CarnifeX, the creator of the succubus mod. While it’s not a original character, it’s a fun glass cannon class that enjoys low torchlight, and going in and out of deaths door with self heal and self damage effects and a boost to dmg while at deaths door.
I feel like the Wretch fittingly has great synergy with the plague doctor. I also found some good team compositions with the wretch and graverobber, but it was difficult for me to pick out an ideal fourth character to add. The abomination is kinda good, since he also inflicts blight, but then I wouldn't have a dedicated healer. So I usually just end up picking the vestal (or occultist if I'm feeling risky).
Would the Shieldbreaker work?
The Shieldbreaker is a strange case for me, because I don't like using her and the graverobber together. Since they're both move-heavy characters, I find they often get in the way of each other, more so when the wretch is added into the mix.
If you're interested at all in other modded Classes, it's my general understanding that the Lamia is a dedicated support class, with both HP and Stress healing, that also can apply/synergize with Blight.

Truth be told - I don't even think I'm that great either. I've beaten it a few times, sure, but I still laugh at myself and am humbled by silly mistakes. :)

Can you take a look for a class mod called the Thorn? She is pretty cool and has 5 stars on steam, but idk how to use her at high level. Keep up the good work!!

I really appreciate you saying that. I feel I've made huge improvements as a content creator this year -- despite all the illness. I've worked my robot ass off and it is amazing to hear that the changes are being noticed.

I wish there was a class mod that generates copse on the ground. There are like three class mods that has to do with corpses and I don't get to use them often late game because of crit kills.
Especially as blight kills also leave no corpses.
It is a nice idea and of course fits perfectly thematically but having a corpse using ability on a dot based class seems somewhat... impractical.
It's an interesting idea and there's already a precedent for mechanics "creating corpses" or filling enemy ranks. Would be hard to pull off practically or well, but some kind of necro or "undertaker" class might be able to make it work!

I wonder if anyone can clarify something for me. Watching a modded DD playthrough now and Im seeing some of these amazing modded classes appear. Are these really fan made mods? Some even sound like they have WJ voice intros on the town screen! Its seriously impressive!
Welcome indeed to modded DD! Yes! - They really are fan made and illustrate just how awesome and talented this community is. Though, likely they did NOT reach out to WJ for specific quotes. He does them, but doesn't typically do them for mods, is my understanding.
I hope you'll join us when we start our modded runs here in Nov! :)

@@E5games That, and both the Shieldbreaker and Graverobber can have high dodge. I was mainly thinking on how to benefit from the Wretch's camping skill Miasma.
so basicly man at arms + graverobber + healer to get a good team? i say graverobber because she does extra damage against marked and blighted enemies

I like the wretch a lot, but i feel his swarm ability might do a little bit too much damage but idk.
I try not to be the arbiter of balance in these videos. But I can assure you that a group ran with PD and Wretch with those camping buffs and some decent swarms are just... devastating!
Well that depends on how you use it really. Swarm and Outbreak can be super devastating if you get a crit with it, but bear in mind that it has a pretty low crit chance.

@@E5games I've recently been playing around with a modded class from Mhnlo called the thorn, he did the snake charmer class before and I liked that so I decided to give this one a try, and I must say I love the class. Its this cool blind fencer character which brings in alot of mark synergy and riposte, however she is a little finicky (you can't spend an action to move her around, with her being blind). I just felt obligated to share this class with you as I know you like looking into these things and I don't see anyone else really covering this class. If you think its cool take a look, I just really liked the class and wanted to share it with you. Hope you like it!:)

I might be alone in this, but I don't run outbreak and in fact find it a bit of a unintended misplay to grab it. Running Contagion, The Swarm, Catharsis, and Scurry, and keeping the Wretch stuck around the 2-3 zones of the party works super well for me and I just have a fun time spamming swarms to keep every enemy blighted and using catharsis or contagion to keep the blights I accumulate from taking a few hits off of me. Lastly scurry is used for just like, boss fights and such. It's probably the one thing you could swap out for Outbreak, but I usually don't find it worth it to take the damage for the chance to fail. Wretch from my experience has the downfall that when things go bad, they go worse. Running outbreak when things aren't going your way will usually lead you to pushing your wretch too far and end up walking out with less than 4 champs.
I meant fail the blight transfer with contagion. You don't usually need a 6+ blight on a normal fight, so no need to take a damage, then push the 3+ blight onto a frontliner.

He's been in a sour spot for me, he's underperformed and gotten at least one other hero killed whenever I brought him along. Maybe it's because I don't know how to play him so I will take notes from this video.

Y'know - I almost spent time talking more about them in this video. I owned a pair of brother rats in college. Not everyone's pet of choice, but they were the smartest, sweetest little dudes. They get a bad rap, and it's pretty clear we know why. :)

Y'know, I don't ever get error messages. I'm basically running reputable class mods, a few aesthetics, and custom bosses for a lot of what I do. It makes me think you must have 1 or 2 large mods that have a few missing files or basic conflicts.

@@E5games I tried to play all the mods AND ONLY the mods you have showns in your videos and i still can't play them without having error messages popping up everywere. I tried to just ignore them the first time i have seen them but they will affect someway to my game. Please i need to know what i am doing wrong. ¿Maybe i have to desuscribe all "wrong" mods?. I am only activating your mods and still...
@@H9O I'm happy to help, but I'll need to see your list. :)
Some mods ask that you load them in specific order in your list. Some could be outdated.
It's also important to note that I have some video which include things like Pitch Black Dungeon, which is defunct and not functioning as of the last year.
@@H9O The class mods in these overviews shouldn't be the problem. Some of them are more complex, but they're all quite polished.
Mods that give you real problems will be overhauls, things that change the nature of the game, some enemy/boss mods or special events.

Mechanically the wretch is Godly compared to Duchess....that assthetic of her makes her a main stay tho, she needs an update, at least a bleed.
Party comps I would use:
Flage (cauz Vestal for pussys), HWM, Wretch, PD
Leper, Abom, Wretch, Occ( cauz vestal....u know were this is going)
HWM, Wretch, GR, Flage( the utility is really surprising with this one)
