Apparently in their mad dash to keep up with marvel dc has been re-writing movie mid production to try and copy their latest successes. Thus Suicide squad went from a dark gritty movie with joker as the main villain, to a mis understood batch of lovable rogues facing up against an apocalyptic evil, before it was finally given the goofy over the top dead pool treatment. And you actually see that progression in the tone of the trailers as they were released. BvS on the other hand looked like it was originally supposed to be a live action adaption of dark knight returns, but then marvel announced it was gonna set the stage for the next avengers movie with a war between captain America and iron man at which point dc decided they wanted to get in on that shit.
Gabriel Hoekstra, you've copied and pasted this same comment twice or more. We get it you like mindless action and explosions. Begging for that attention
WB/DC strikes again. They gave Ayer the greenlight for the film under 1 condition...he can pen the screenplay and be ready to start casting and shooting in 3 weeks. Why not either start earlier...or aim for a later release date...what did they think was going to happen, besides an incoherent mess. Im gonna patent an Emoji that enters the following when u click- 'I thought it was awesome..the only people who didnt like it are retarded Marvel fanboys AND the Ultimate edition fixes all the flaws and makes it a 10/10'....I can sell this to WB/DC fans and make $$$.
+Bill Archer I don't think the movie was incoherent, it was just badly written because of the generic "saving the world" trope and the characterisation was sidelined. But note that I have watched the extended edition so I guess the movie made more sense to me.
Badly written sure, but also badly edited bc they used 2 editing companies and when they still could not make a version of the movie- test audiences liked..they hired the company who made the SS trailer to make the theatrical cut of the film. same happened to BVS
Demon Rap Artist lol ur the type of guy to look at a shoe lace and call it cringy, just because u don't like something or think it's funny doesn't mean it's cringy dumbfuck
It's because of this movie she became overrated imo.I bet most people who like this version of Harley don't even know that she first appeared in a cartoon. That frustrates me.
My two biggest issues: 1) did a nine year old write this shit? No I'm serious. "We're some kind of suicide squad?" "Remember, were the bad guys" "We're bad guys, it's what we do." "Would you live for me?" (That last one is a direct rip from a twenty one pilots song btw. I can only assume it's in there because they got the band for the movie or something? Idk but it's very obvious) 2) man they didn't stay true to the characters at all. The bombs are destroyed at the end and they CHOOSE to help this guy because he's sad about his girlfriend? Uhhh the man eating monster, demon, psycho bitch, and "textbook psychopath" assassin all suddenly have a heart? No. I'm sorry but no. You're gonna need a hell of a better reason than that.
ThisisGabeB Yeah, pretty much. You have to remember that the same people that almost destroyed Marvel in the 90s were in charge of DC when the tone that inspired these movies was established in the comics. Which is a shame since everyone knows DC used to be the bright, fun one while Marvel was all dramatic and intriguing.
Chris you forgot the bar scene where they are supposed to be bonding and telling hard truths but it comes off very forced. The line I hated the most was when Harley said "We all are", it was just placed and fake.
Dude right? What the fuck was that. "I already lost one family, I'm not losing another." Dude you've known these guys for literally less then a day. XD
I noticed that too. It should of happened more naturally. Like have them in the building and they see a very nice looking bar and decide for a quick break or something.
+Nathan Hittle I am a hardcore DC fanboy and I really really wanted to love this but it's just a huge cringe fest. Good for you if you enjoyed it but it was just so terrible
I don't understand why DC is in such a hurry? Marvel made 5 movies, before they made the Avengers, and we already knew every character in Avengers from previous movies, which made it so great. They should have made separate movies about the superheroes in Justice League, introduced some villains in those films and then should have made Justice League and Suicide Squad movies respectively. Would have been a lot better. If they did it systematically, instead of trying to compete and catch up to Marvel, both BvS and SS wouldn't have been an mess. My favorite DCEU movie is still Man of Steel, which was a stand alone movie , and not in need of setting up a universe. And I did enjoy Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman : Ultimate Edition. Note: This is totally my opinion, if you have a different opinion than mine, I respect it.
Short answer, DC is obsessed with doing things differently than Marvel. Interviews they've given have them specifically saying they won't do things because Marvel did them; oddly, Snyder cited post credits scenes as an example because he thinks Marvel invented those. Marvel did a slow build up to Avengers, so DC feels it needs to rush to Justice League.
Bluemew1234 Since, we are talking about different, I actually wanted DCEU to be different, I wanted it to be darker and grittier than MCU, (which I love, but is getting repetitive sometimes). I wanted DCEU to have the tone of Watchmen. But after BvS critical panning, because it was not "fun", I guess we will not get dark movies anymore in DCEU.
How you and many others wanted it to be different was what they should have been focusing on. They should have tried setting themselves apart by catering to something that many feel Marvel wasn't offering. The problem was the things they focused on were mostly superficial things or just plain bad decisions. Marvel does credits scenes, so we don't do credits scenes. Marvel is bright, so we make everything steeped in grey. Marvel takes a decent amount of control over each project, we'll let Snyder do literally whatever the hell he wants with no actual oversight. Marvel has one person making final decisions for their universe, so we'll hire a team and make them do decisions by committee, but give Snyder a voting block so decisions become almost always one sided anyway.
But, the MAIN difference between Marvel (at least old comic Marvel,) and DC is that DC is a dark, gritty, real world. I feel like they need to approach it in the way The Killing Joke was made. Just breaking down the "hero" aspect and making it a gritty and violent crime ridden world. People would respect it more if they went ALL of the way rather than dipping their toes into "Hey we're silly too! But also a bit dark."
Yeah it was fucking awful. There weren't any positive aspects to it, like the joker was just cringey and same with harley-quin. It was either cringey or boring and that's it.
+Adon Wolfe Who the fuck said the public wanted fun? It is a fact BvS was unnecessarily joyless, that doesnt mean all and every movie has to be fun. What everyone want is a good movie, no one cares if it is funny or serious. SS is funny, but not good, BvS is serious but not good, as simple as that. Whether they were fun or not doesnt change the fact they sucked.
Yeah...obviously you would need some other characters, but make a movie that is just a physiological thriller with little to no fighting or action. Just a super well written experience of seeing the Joker break down Harley and escape the asylum at the same time.
Yeah, it would stand as a great downplayed movie. Instead of all the explosions and bad jokes, just do a "Bonnie and Clyde" thriller with long build up and a few action scenes. I would watch that.
No, that sounds just as dumb. I know the comics are like that, but if your premise is that a psychiatrist falls in love with the joker while in therapy sessions that's just bullshit right there. Ask anyone who knows the basics of mental health, that just doesn't happen.
I would have loved if he had actually just left. Wouldn't have been mad or disappointed at all if he had just not been in the rest of the movie after he left the bar.
Funny thing, the way the bombs work is never explained. They don't establish if they could detonate the bombs from any place at any time. Because some detonators need to be within a certain range for their signal to work. Now here's where this gets stupid. See if that's the case, then that justifies why Amanda would allow soldiers to take part in a mission beside people who were basically registered as expendable. If that isn't the case, and Amanda could just detonate the bomb and kill boomerang at any time, then it makes absolutely no sense for her to allow the soldiers to go with the Suicide Squad in the movie.
If you didn't like the plot, you're an overly-demanding critic. If you didn't like character development, you're needlessly hating on DC. If you didn't like the writing, 3rd act and soundtrack, you have a Marvel bias. If you found the dialogue cringeworthy, you don't understand humour. According to DC fanboys, the only way you're a normal person is if you force yourself to like everything about this movie.
I thought the plot was ok. The character development did need some work. I liked the soundtrack and the dialogue was weird at points. But I thought it was pretty good not as bad as people are making it out to be
+Backspacer12 I don't think there is any problem with the plot of fury road, it is exactly what it needs to be for the movie that it is. Also there is a really interesting and unique world which the movie presents. I never really got the whole bad plot criticism of Fury Road. It's not a complex plot but it is well told for what it is and is all it needs to be, at least that's what I think.
DC keep making shit movies DC fanboys keep defending them its sad to see how far dc have fallen after The dark knight trilogy , stop demanding rotten tomatoes to shut down demand better movies from DC
***** That has to be one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen. Christopher Nolan makes shitty movies? His films are all great, he made Inception, Memento, Interstellar, TDK trilogy, The Prestige, and Isonimia. He's one of the best directors working today and his new film Dunkirk looks great.
The reality of this movie is the actors aren't bad. The costumes aren't bad. The production, the change in styles, the bad exposition and this horrible trait of DC to jump straight in instead of letting characters have build up. I love DC characters but they're going to end up having to do the extended universe over again.
Liam Turner agreed. Personally, I wouldn't have complained if they did the Avengers style, releasing single character stories. It just.. idk. Especially with Diablo I thought his story was SO interesting, but they didn't give a shit about delving into it.
Couldn't agree more. i'd love to care for the characters but they just lacked depth and now they've removed what could have been extremely memorable and interesting characters from the DC cinematic universe.
mr. Wldasoldmysoul4pussyasateen Yeah, i tried to avoid a leto rant. I do think it was just bad casting or possibly his lack of background research on the Joker and Luthor was truly truly awful, he just didn't have the authority and presence that people expect from Luthor. my worry is now they are this far in they are just going to push forward and we'll be left with sub-par films for what should be one of the best movie franchises of all time.
I actually liked leto as the joker, but he needs better written lines. The dialogue is so corny and awful. If Leto was given some "creepy" dialogue, not quite at Heath ledger levels but still something scary, he could work.
Egg Benedict in my opinion, Jared Leto did an excellent job as the Joker. But this Joker is written so horrendous and looks like a Southside Chicago pimp.
If this franchise had done it right like Marvel we would have had a Deadshot movie, followed by a Harley/Joker movie, followed by an Enchantress/Incubus movie and then Suicide Squad. This felt like they skipped all those and jumped right into the crossover.
Thank you!!! They are rushing this shit way too fast. There was NO point for the Suicide Squad. It was made to fight major Metahumans, but they called them to get Waller. Sigh
I asked the same question as this reviewer when watching the movie: Why risk a group of villains going rogue and/or possibly joining the enemy you sent them to fight, instead of assembling a group of heroes led by Batman? I mean we literally _see_ Flash in the movie so we know he is around and helping law enforcement, same with Wonder Woman. Why not get those three instead of a loose posse of dangerous metahumans and psychopaths? I'm sure the comics have a good explanation for it. But that's exactly what I mean when I say this movie needs prequels. It would have given them a chance to explain why Amanda Waller's nonsensical idea was so thoroughly swallowed by everyone.
I don't want a solo dead shot movie but they all should have had a decent set up in solo hero movies. Whether it be major or minor. A movie that centers solely around dead shot or Diablo doesn't have a lot of potential.
***** Fair enough. The other option was to make solo movies for the heroes (Batman, a decent Superman film, the Flash, Aquaman) and feature the villains in them so that when they come together for their own movie, the film doesn't get bogged down by so many rushed introductions.
they said that towards the end yes, and even still, it was kinda skimmed over. I said I thought it when I saw it, which is before they commented on it. Besides, like Chris said, Rick was terrible in this movie. He was boring, he did things that constantly contradicted his so call morals, and he's kind of a hypocrite.
MC Cooper Harley really doesn't have any special abilities either yet she took care of them fine. She's got acrobatics and fighting skills, that would be similar to Flags combat training in the military. You have to get to a certain level in combatives to be at his rank. Harley had a gun but used her bat more, Flag, as others have stated had an arsenal at his dispense and again, you have to be able to have a certain level of marksmanship proficiency to be of higher rank. Yes, I know, you're going to come back with AGAIN that they were targeting him so using Harley as a comparative is bad but it's still just a piss poor excuse on the movies part. He wouldn't have been the leader of the suicide squad if he wasn't some what competent and the movie never showed that.
He got the most laughs/giggles out of me, followed by Joker+Harley onscreen together, followed by Batman knocking Harley the fuck out xP. Rest of the comedy attempts failed.
*Sigh* ANOTHER ULTIMATE CUT? Is the reputation that DC wants to be known for? Marvel releases decent to great movies for comic book fans and general audiences while DC just fumbles everything and then releases the movie that should have been out..... on Blu ray? This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to wait till a DVD version comes out to see the movie I was promised by the trailers. Of all the ultimate cuts that have been released so far..the only one i'm interested in is Suicide Squad. I want to see how good this movie could have been because i KNOW David Ayer is a FAR better director than Zac Snyder. Snyder's two blunders are his fault and no one else's.
I would have loved an adaptation of Batman: Assault on Arkham rather than the Suicide Squad movie we got. For those who don't know, the animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham is about the Suicide Squad trying to break out the Riddler from Arkham Asylum and shit goes down in there when Harley Quinn breaks out the Joker. Then Batman gets involved and bang, we have a such a great movie
Fake Account Not true, but that's not the point anyway. They are part of the movie, saying the movie would be worse if they weren't in it is totally redundant.
I still think that DC movies feel more original than Marvel movies (excluding Deadpool). I think the Marvel Netflix shows are on the right track but the movie universe repeats the same formula every year.
And I hope the DC universe doesn't become like that with the Justice League. I liked Suicide Squad but it definately needs some improvement. I hope Ben Affleck can see the problems with these films and make his Batman films great.
+Andre Rumengan And when I talk about the Marvel formula I'm talking mostly about the action scenes and the typical third act epic battle. I don't feel a sense of danger or vulnerability in the action scenes because nobody ever gets hurt and I think the heroes are being way too heroic. And my problem with the third act battles is that they are always just cgi characters flying and jumping around with explosions around them and some generic aliens flying around and the whole Shield thing is just so boring. Some Marvel movies I don't mind but I think the new ones have gone to shit. I liked the first Iron Man, Spider Man and Captain America films for example. Just my opinion.
"they are always just cgi characters flying and jumping around with explosions around them and some generic aliens flying around " Isn't that the case with all 3 DC movies too?
DC fanboys disliking it wow. Guys cmon I'm a DC fan when it comes to movies, and I can clearly see that the movie wasn't the best, i think they tried to do something simular to marvel's avengers, they tried to introduce a lot of "unknown" characters in one single movie. Marvel before releasing the avengers had tons of movies about all the characters, at that point we had a lot of knowledge about all characters, when the avengers was released. While DC wasted an awesome movie just trying to put it all together at once. That's what I think , and a lot of other stuff that Chris said already.
Well said man. Like, i'd normally be considered as a Marvel fanboy ( Cuz i grew up on Marvel stuff) but yeah. Thats pretty much exactly where DC went wrong. Whenever i criticize DC i always get my friends mad but you put what i wanted to say in to a proper sentence so...Yeah :)
The character of Harley Quinn makes no sense, she has no super powers, why is she able to beat everyone up? I feel it was more realistic in the animated series when she relied mostly on weapons in order to overtake her enemies because really she shouldn't be a worthy and equal opponent
Harley actually has powers sorta. Poison Ivy gave her a potion that enhanced her strength, speed, and agility, gave her an immunity to toxins, and a small healing factor (though this seems to vary -- later in her solo series she was shown to be able to heal from gunshot wounds in a matter of seconds as soon as the bullet was removed). She really has more physical strength than any Olympic athlete. She is able to put any man to the floor in only two punches or one kick. Her legs seem really powerful, she manages to jump very high without effort -- this, coupled with her prodigious gymnastic skills, makes her an incredibly acrobatic and "bouncy" threat in combat, adding to her momentum with pendulous weapons such as her hammer. comicvine.gamespot.com/harley-quinn/4005-1696/
***** You make it seem like i didnt just speak an absolute fact :/ Anyway, if i was to heed your advice and end my own life would i not be unable to watch films? Instructing me to stop watching movies as a dead person is a bit redundant no?
I absolutely hated Leto's performance of the JOKER. I wanted it to be good, as well as the movie itself, but was so disappointed. He seemed more like a crime boss than the joker...
Chris, buddy, I love you but listen. I agree with most of if not all of your reviews. But I walked out of this movie entertained as shit. I felt like you were tryna look for some flaws here dude. This movie, was fun as fuck. I walked out with a smile on my face, and thats what I wanted from suicide squad.
When Deadshot says "How the fuck are you not dead" to Amanda Waller at the end: That was probably the most self-reflecting and honest movie line ever. I mean he was literally saying out loud what everybody in the audience was thinking at that moment.
except for every single character in the film..... ( sigh)....

No they are all portrayed as "victims of fortune" they are not anti heroes nor badguys. this isn't a movie about bad guys, this is merely a bad superhero blockbuster. No surprises no originality, the relationship between harley and the joker is completely wrong, the plot is written with all the super hero-clichés you can find in cinema. You dont get attached to any character because there is noplace for them (to much will smith and harley) and those who get the exposition, it is done with no undrestanding of the base material. This movie is Bad it is a cash cow and doesn't bode well for the rest of the DCU movies.
+L Desiron From what Im hearing everyone but u say, I think it is agreed that the characters and thier development is the best parts of the movie. The plot, main villain, and a couple of other things had da problems!
It was explained. They were meant to extract a VIP. It was revealed as a surprise that it was Waller. You weren't initially meant to know they were heading to Waller's base of operations.
Leonardo Braynen They don't all need solo movies but have been introduced more in depth in another movie. Imagine a batman movie that has batman stopping a threat while jokers locked up and throughout the film we see him turn harley crazy and at the end we see batman catch her. Would have been amazing. We could have seen other villains in so many more movies. Maybe Dead shot was hired by joker in the movie and we see him with his daughter when he's caught. Give us more time with the past than this movie. We could have easily seen the other villains in other superhero movies like a flash movie with the boomerang and maybe another villain showing a stronger back story of theirs. It could have been done without having a film on each villain. This way we get more time with them and care about them from another standpoint and then this should have been made.
kbg12ila not really they only had to do joker harley movie of mad love first n ending it with harley getting caught by bats n put in jail n joker getting away n then making this suicide squad so we would not have harleys stand alone flashbacks constantly...
Will smith, Margot Robbie and viola Davis I thought gave great performances, but Amanda Waller and harley Quinn character were just to horribly done for me to like them. Only redeeming thing was Will smith/deadshot.
2:48 Chris, I was thinking the same. Why wasn't Batman and other Justice League sent to deal with the villain, instead of these criminals? The whole premise of this movie was flawed.
I took it as the Suicide Squad was Amanda Waller's insurance, a group of skilled and meta-human individuals that she *thinks* she can control and keep a leash on. Enchantress was under her supervision, so she didn't want someone like Batman or the Flash to come in and bring her down themselves, learn some secret information, and then use it to out Waller for the possibly corrupt person she is. She's counting on the passive nature of some of these criminals that they either won't care what she does with Enchantress afterwards, or they'll escape and not even learn much of anything. Superhero morals are more of a threat to Waller's interests than criminal selfishness
+pjsmith97 I will also add that they probably didn't care of these criminals got hurt or died even. They were like dummy's you could throw into battle.
I must say got disappointed with this movie. Not saying that it is bad, but it was just “an okay movie”, in my opinion, and I really wanted more. Don’t really have a problem with the flashbacks, but the pacing and some slightly disconnected scenes got me out of the movie too many times (I agree, there is probably a much better movie that died at the editing room). And, to be fair, the jokes are not all that great either. I don’t remember laughing once during the movie (and it was supposed to be a very funny one). Also, just to end the negatives, I’m not very impressed with the Joker, but I admit that Heath Ledger’s Joker spoiled me a little bit. I will keep and open mind... but I'm not into this one. And I will only strongly disagree with Chris in "why they where the ones sent there". The reason is, because they are the only ones that the US gov. has control over to send. Now... why didn't any hero noticed that this was happening and decided to show up by themselves? Well... for the same reason that Iron Man and Cap. never show up to help Thor when he is facing something that will destroy Earth (and vice-versa): because it is not their movie and you should respect other people stuff. :P
they weren't sent to stop Enchantress in the first place. They were saving Waller. The only reason they fought Enchantress is because of she has Waller, which is a weak reason imo
for me this movie is bad, i hate how they potrait the villian as a hero, we don't have to like them. like hanibal lecter for example, he is the main character of his movie but he is hands down an evil man, he butchered many inocent people but i still like him as main character, so why can't be suicide squad like that, an evil badass that audience like
Guess what bitch, DC tries to be its own thing. But because there's a Marvel Formula, poor DC gets shit as it isn't Marvel. So.... If you are being put down for being unique, what other options do u have?
When you realize Harley Quinn, -got recruited in the team for no reason -failed to escape with Joker and rejoined for no reason -became friends with other squad members quickly for no reason -agreed to fight Enchantress for no reason -went back to jail at the end for no reason(her micro bomb was deactivated)
I can't believe more people aren't complaining about Killer Croc. You guys remember back in Arkham Asylum where we soiled our pants in fear of him? And what is this portrayal? I am a hardcore DC fan, particularly Batman, yet I seriously loathed his role in the movie.
They’re probably going to keep going until they can get their Infinity War style finale for their cinematic universe. But that’s the biggest problem with the DCEU, they just rushed everything.
I was deeply disapointed with this movie, i was like, "sure, it migth be bad, but it can't be that bad, can it?", and well i lowered my expectacions and it still disapointed, the editing and scripting was a mess, literally 20m of exposition...
Really? That's tough competition, but honestly the Joker was shit, the rest of the team was irrelevant, Waller's plan.... the fucking government giving Waller green light for that bullshit plan...
Instead of making that witch the main bad guy, they should have made the joker the main bad guy. That would have made everyone happy, because I hear the joker doesn't have that many scenes.
They just literally put the joker aside in this movie, *one of the most expected things about this movie by fans* was just put apart because the studio wanted to make this movie more funny smh
GoggleMan25 Yeah that's just disrespectful to the actor, Leto really did his homework to be the joker for him to be plain cut out just to make the movie more "funny"
Been saying the movie should of been about joker escaping arkham with harley and other hostages and the squad is sent to save them and kill him since batman wont. Then harley becomes like two face in dark knight and turns in the end
Suicide Squad was an uninspired messy piece of shit that thinks that pretty lights, Harley Quinn Fanservice, heavy unnecessary CGI, and a popular retro song every five fucking minutes compensates for a weak generic story with a weak generic villain and a weak generic resolution, cheesy lines, dumb lame cliches, shit pacing, an incoherent edition that could pass as a swiss cheese with ADHD, plot devices for every plot point and plot armor for every important character, and a characterization that could literally pass as a highschoolers PPT presentation homework. 4/10
4/10 is what I gave it as well. There's glints of some gems that COULD have been fully utilized but it honestly missed the mark big time. Only highlights are a handful of characters ( Harley Quinn, Joker, Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller) and the cameo of Batman & Flash...everything else reeks of terrible writing, direction and possibly company suits getting in the way.
1.I hated the way Joker was perceived in this movie, the Joker is supposed to be a fun bad ass bad guy for Batman, and yet they made him into a lovesick teenager who cared more so about Harley then doing "evil things" or planning to play mind games with Batman. 2.Freaking hell, other then Deadshot and Harley none and I mean NONE of these characters gave you a reason to care about them due to how uninteresting they were. 3.Enchantress really? That was the best top bad guy they could come up with for the movie?! All she did was talk so much crap, do weird ass flips in the major fight scene and that was it. 4.Once you think about it, if it wasn't for Waller's stupid idea NONE of this mayhem and death scenes would of happened and yet after they took down Enchantress they basically had her almost kill them still. 5.You can tell they did some bad editing due to how poorly some of these scenes were put together, hence why I know why they came out with "extended scenes" in the blue ray edition that came out recently.
Im sorry but what really ruined the movie for me was the editing/pacing felt like so many deleted scenes and added scenes were in. Also characters like slipknot and boomerang were PATHETIC had like 3 lines of dialogue and did nothing.
Well you do know that the movie was given to the same people who edited the trailer to edit the whole movie... Also I agree with killer croc, I felt like I saw him killing ONE guy for like 3 minutes and Harley had too many of the "hey I'm a cute girl and I made a cute joke/remark"
Man, i watched the movie and really liked it, then watched Chris explaining on details why it was bad. I still enjoy the movie but... he gave me a downer. Lessons learned, don't nit pick or take a superheroes movie too seriously in order to enjoy it
Think the biggest problem with this movie is that people needed a great movie to believe in DC again and a popcorn movie won't do that at all. This movie will be forgotten in 2 weeks and you may watch it again now and then, but it will never be that amazing movie you like so much, just fine. Think that's why people like it now, but critics are like "yeah......it's okay but it will never stand out as a great movie"
People actually believe that a popcorn film is EXACTLY what DC needed and I'm seeing more positive fan reaction than negative from fans and not just sheep who listen to rotten tomatoes
I personally didin't like the Harley in the movie. I thought she seemed stupid and acted like a prostitute sometimes but looked like one all the time, i also still don't understand why her colours are blue and red? She should be black and red, her and the Joker acted like two high school students that just got together and just call each other cute names and kiss a lot. Joker seems more in love with Harley than ever tbh
I respect your opinion and agree with you on certain things like having the squad go up against something a bit more human and grounded, but i still really liked this movie. The action was well shot, the actors did excellent and the characters had nice chemistry. It was not very dark it serious but it was really FUN and thats the important part for me. It made me excited to see these characters more in other movies in the DCEU. Especially The Joker, Harley and Croc. The Flash and Batman cameos were promising. If they make a sequel they should have the squad along with some new members like King Shark, Grodd or Captain Cold go after The Joker and Harley which are free and have escaped to a foreign country and formed an alliance with the local mob/extremists. Keep ut the good reviews.
It's good to see other people who liked the film but respect his opinion. It's a shame that all the comments that bash people for liking or disliking the film are the top comments.
My issue was that I felt that their chemistry was unwarranted. They were working together for one night and by the end they were "family"? I wasn't buying it
+Karl Naumann plus they had barely talked to each other, most of the interaction was between Harley and Deadshot, and Deadshot talking to Rick Flag, barely anyone else says anything
+Karl Naumann plus they had barely talked to each other, most of the interaction was between Harley and Deadshot, and Deadshot talking to Rick Flag, barely anyone else says anything
She wasn't weak at all... Bullets and normal weapons didn't do shit to her. only katana's blade could do something to her. But i agree that the movie lacked more enchantress...
+Generic Gametag www.complex.com/pop-culture/2016/08/suicide-squad-director-david-ayer-6-weeks-write-script and a bunch of other articles if you look up "david ayer 6 weeks to write suicide squad"
Bob sagget I feel bad as in, they genuinely seemed to care that they were passionate about the project. From what I read, they reshoot a lot of scenes, deleted a lot of Joker scenes and called the guys who made the trailer to re-edit the film and give it a a more 'fun' vibe by adding bunch of random songs, and it ended up being a clusterfuck.
I agree with you man, I would have LOVED to see a movie with the Joker and Harley’s relationship and how it came to be. I myself am a big fan of romance, but romance is getting a bit dull nowadays, and a movie about their twisted relationship would have really spiced it up, in my opinion.
I just recently subscribed to this channel and it's already one of my favorites. I don't know why I need Chris to explain what I feel about these movies but I do and he does a great job.
The suicide squad wasn't sent in to deal with Enchantress or Incubus, they were sent to rescue Amanda Waller and we're subsequently convinced to rescue Dr. Moon by Rick Flagg. The issue with these movies is WB sticking their nasty little fingers in it and bypassing the directors. They did it with Man of Steel, they did it with Batman v Superman and now with Suicide Squad. Hopefully they give Geoff Johns free reign to actually give us good scripts.
derrick s Wrong, Enchantress and Rick Flagg's team were sent to defeat Incubus. Then Suicide Squad was sent in to retrieve Amanda Waller, she then killed her assistants and got abducted by Enchantress. At which point Rick Flagg convinces Deadshot to save Dr. Moon.
You are absolutely right. When the mission was explained to them, they thought they were rescuing a VIP ("your guy better have the cure for cancer."), and the building they enter is way off the epicenter of the vortex, so if everything went right, they would have extracted Waller and returned in "the next helicopter" to their cells. The Enchantress and the military were the only ones supposed to engage the 'paranormal being', and we know why that didn't work. Also, neither Amanda nor the government had any way of contacting (or controlling) other metahumans like the Flash or Wonder Woman, so they were using what they had. They were just lucky that the squad decided to confront the Enchantress and her brother and that they succeeded.
+Pedro Camelo didn't we see Waller giving files to Bruce in the mid-credit scene? which implied that she knows Bruce is Batman and possibly that she knows who all of these other people are?
Yes, she may know who some of they are, but she doesn't have enough leverage to make them follow her or do anything for her. And I have the feeling that if she can't control them, she won't approach them. She seems to have some control issues. =)
I didn't believe the "romance" he had with the enchantress and he just kinda acts "tough" but nobody is intimidated by him or respects him, so I didn't.
I disagree, he was nothing more but a plot device for Enchantress and the story and some very...very failed attempts at comedy between him and Deadshot. Removing him from the movie would have been more room for the actual Suicide Squad to have had more interaction and development.
Why did Deadshot deliberately miss the shot on Harley? he was offered freedom, to be with his daughter,, and he didn't take it because he felt sorry for some psycho bitch he didn't even know? are you kidding me? (I'm aware of the rumors about the the romance between the two being cut out, but without this information Deadshot's decision makes no sense)
Am I the only one who thinks people who go to early test screenings for DC Movies are getting paid to say the movies are good because there were early test screenings for Batman v Superman and the people who went to those test screenings said the film was good but it got negative reviews when it came out and it's the same with Suicide Squad.
People that go to early test screenings in general will be more kind to a movie. They can't control everyone's opinions though. Some of the early reviews from both BvS and Civil War were negative.
Not really. Im a regular ol' college student who gets movie screening tickets because I enter a lot of contests. It's just like going to any other movie except I'm just not payjng for it.
WB edited and cut the shit out of this movie behind the director's back which is why there are ALOT of parts in the trailer that are not in the movie. I hope we get the complete movie when the blurays come out.
Problem with DCU movies is that they always look good in trailers but they don't deliver. BvS looked really good. SS looked amazing and I was so pumped for the movie but it is soo bad. It almost looks like trying to do great trailer film instead of making a great film so they can cash in on the opening weekend. I was one of the fooled people who stood in the line just to be the first to see it. I did not read any reviews so that the movie isn't spoiler for me but not anymore DC. Not anymore. Now I will wait what the critics and audience say about it before I Put my money into you. One last thing, please don't try to catch Marvel. They've been building their universe for years, you can't catch them in one or two movies. Give it some time. Don't focus on money. Focus on quality and the money will come.
This! All of this! I too saw it the first showing, reserved IMAX 3D tickets the day they were released. Also avoided any reviews but I did hear there were some bad ones.
Yeah. I've waited in a long line for BvS. Too bad the line was seemingly gone the week after. Should have waited a little bit more. The trailer for Suicide Squad is very misleading though - especially on the Joker. That man barely existed and he added nothing to the plot, just some backstory which was very short. I expected more once again and fell flat. Now, DC is expecting me to buy a "Super Spectacular Ultimate Limited Uncut Glossy DVD "with an added pop album of the movie. I don't like this trend at all. I don't need to rewatch it to see if the movie "should be better" in 3 hours. If I didn't see it in the theatrical release, I say the movie is to blame.
the problem is that people think marvel movies are good just because Disney spreads out that paycheck to the tomato metter, marvel movies suck dick dc movies are no better enjoy the movie or don't too many sweaties who spent 10 seconds on Wikipedia jump on some shitty reditt thread and think they are meta gods
this was one of the messiest movies ive ever seen.
the editing and script was the worst ever
Yep.
Andy B Watch Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
make a better movie bud
Gabriel Hoekstra, you've copied and pasted this same comment twice or more. We get it you like mindless action and explosions. Begging for that attention
It was like a bad fanfic realized on the silver screen.
+Bill Archer
I don't think the movie was incoherent, it was just badly written because of the generic "saving the world" trope and the characterisation was sidelined.
Tell that to Zod's snapped neck.
Risen Demon so its basically fifty shades of grey....
If Deadshot would have said "Martha", he'd still be with his daughter haha
Lmao!
Thats funny
OMG lmfaooooo your comment made me laugh out loud on and off for about 17 seconds hahaha. Legend
Now I kinda wish his daughter's name was Martha.
+Donald Trump uh…okay donald trump….
Harley's jokes were so painfully cringy that I couldn't take the movie seriously after each of her lines.
Demon Rap Artist lol ur the type of guy to look at a shoe lace and call it cringy, just because u don't like something or think it's funny doesn't mean it's cringy dumbfuck
Demon Rap Artist "We're bad guys, it's what we do!" Agreed.
"Wow, that's a killer app!" *pause for audience laugh*
Some things work in animation that don't work in live action and vice versa.
It's because of this movie she became overrated imo.I bet most people who like this version of Harley don't even know that she first appeared in a cartoon. That frustrates me.
Where the fuck was Slipknot when Doomsday was wrecking havoc ?!
Climbing something I think...
macktrucQ but slipknot is the most powerful being in the universe, he coulve stopped doomsday
+Par Sa man he is bad guy, he could stopped doomsday but he doesn't give a shit
are you confusing slipknot with el diablo?
lol Slipknot was the best character, I want a solo movie.
The true problems with this movie:
1. Bad Storyline
2. Horrible editing
3. Enchantress sucked!!!!!!!!!!
Fax
4. Leto's joker
My two biggest issues:
1) did a nine year old write this shit? No I'm serious.
"We're some kind of suicide squad?"
"Remember, were the bad guys"
"We're bad guys, it's what we do."
"Would you live for me?" (That last one is a direct rip from a twenty one pilots song btw. I can only assume it's in there because they got the band for the movie or something? Idk but it's very obvious)
2) man they didn't stay true to the characters at all. The bombs are destroyed at the end and they CHOOSE to help this guy because he's sad about his girlfriend? Uhhh the man eating monster, demon, psycho bitch, and "textbook psychopath" assassin all suddenly have a heart? No. I'm sorry but no. You're gonna need a hell of a better reason than that.
imo arrow season 2 did it better where deadshot says "just call it like it is, welcome to the suicide squad."
+RedSpecial96 yes I love deadshot on arrow
This is what really happens when you are only give 6 weeks to write the script, and it shows.
This film was bloody awful. Waste of potential.
The first trailer was so good for the movie to turn out so awful 😒
And waste of interesting characters.
Animated Suicide Squad was a lot better
Assault on Arkham was the best. Harley was there because Joker had a bomb, Batman had to do Intel. All of the villains coming together makes sense.
Noree Hix yes it was a lot better when it was a smaller scale
Eh didn't like either, both crap
I also like hell to pay
Justice League Unlimited Task Force X Episode Was Great Too
Chris you forgot the bar scene where they are supposed to be bonding and telling hard truths but it comes off very forced. The line I hated the most was when Harley said "We all are", it was just placed and fake.
And then they are "family" after 6 hours
When they went in the bar, I was like this will be the "bonding" scene and sure enough...
they cut bar scenes that were in the previews
Dude right? What the fuck was that. "I already lost one family, I'm not losing another." Dude you've known these guys for literally less then a day. XD
I noticed that too. It should of happened more naturally. Like have them in the building and they see a very nice looking bar and decide for a quick break or something.
The humour with Killer Croc was cringey as fuck. I hated it so much
one of the few things i hated about the movie
+Iseenotix the few things? This movie was shit
+SpicyPepsi Almost like different people have different opinions... ;)
+Nathan Hittle I am a hardcore DC fanboy and I really really wanted to love this but it's just a huge cringe fest. Good for you if you enjoyed it but it was just so terrible
Then please use words like I think, instead of stating your options like their facts.
That's what they thought they were doing with Batman v Superman.
I felt like the movie tried to be too much like a music video.
You fucking nailed it
Like a bad AMV.
You said it best
I felt the same way friend
calm down kristian harloff
Let's be honest this movie was trash :(
Yeah it was fucking awful. There weren't any positive aspects to it, like the joker was just cringey and same with harley-quin. It was either cringey or boring and that's it.
Rodion didn't even mention Marvel. What the fuck are you even talking about?
Let's be honest. This movie was good to some and too some not. That's life. Lol
Rodion Raskolnikov It was insanely cringey! The joker was embarassing
+Adon Wolfe
Who the fuck said the public wanted fun? It is a fact BvS was unnecessarily joyless, that doesnt mean all and every movie has to be fun. What everyone want is a good movie, no one cares if it is funny or serious. SS is funny, but not good, BvS is serious but not good, as simple as that. Whether they were fun or not doesnt change the fact they sucked.
Who the hell is editing these dc movies?
a butcher I supose.😂😂😂
+Logi Bro DC Entertainment suits

I hate what they did with Killer Croc.
so what is he now? some kind of fictional result of Harlequin-type ichthyosis...
They did something with Croc?
"...I'm a dinasaur!"
Same
...and yet that actually earned the movie an Academy Award.
AN ACADEMY AWARD.
Go figure.
Your movie idea is awesome, just the joker and harley in an asylum.
Making it like Silence of the Lamb would be really cool.. with Harley slowly losing her sanity
Yeah man, sounds like pretty juicy writing material.
No, that sounds just as dumb. I know the comics are like that, but if your premise is that a psychiatrist falls in love with the joker while in therapy sessions that's just bullshit right there. Ask anyone who knows the basics of mental health, that just doesn't happen.
4:06 Seriously!
You insist on being stuck on the same joke for four times in a damn row?
What are you - some kind of *"Stuckman™"*?
This comment is comedy gold. LoL
That is some funny shit dude!
you just got STUCKMANIZED!
the ridiculous reviewers are here Guys..!.!
the UA-cam is flooded with such people...
When capt boomerang walked out the bar if he really didn't come back I would've been seriously impressed
I would have loved if he had actually just left. Wouldn't have been mad or disappointed at all if he had just not been in the rest of the movie after he left the bar.
That scene was GOLD!!!
Then he came back :-/
+TheMooseFigs Amanda would have killed him. He saved himself.
+Koloshow True
Funny thing, the way the bombs work is never explained. They don't establish if they could detonate the bombs from any place at any time. Because some detonators need to be within a certain range for their signal to work.
Now here's where this gets stupid. See if that's the case, then that justifies why Amanda would allow soldiers to take part in a mission beside people who were basically registered as expendable.
If that isn't the case, and Amanda could just detonate the bomb and kill boomerang at any time, then it makes absolutely no sense for her to allow the soldiers to go with the Suicide Squad in the movie.
Completely agree. Nothing made sense, it felt like this big budget music video with no substance.
Enchantress gotta be top 10 worst villains in movie history it sounds exaggerated but she literally did nothing
Exactly
I thought the plot was ok. The character development did need some work. I liked the soundtrack and the dialogue was weird at points. But I thought it was pretty good not as bad as people are making it out to be
What if you are a DC and Marvel fanboy?
+Backspacer12 I don't think there is any problem with the plot of fury road, it is exactly what it needs to be for the movie that it is. Also there is a really interesting and unique world which the movie presents. I never really got the whole bad plot criticism of Fury Road. It's not a complex plot but it is well told for what it is and is all it needs to be, at least that's what I think.
Couldn't agree more.
DC keep making shit movies DC fanboys keep defending them its sad to see how far dc have fallen after The dark knight trilogy , stop demanding rotten tomatoes to shut down demand better movies from DC
Blame WB for being fucking scared about their movies. They had to bring in new editors to make Suicide Squad look fun.
+Hingle McCringlebaby wish they would stop try to catch up on marvel and make one movie at a time and not put 2,3 movies in same movie
The Dark Knight trilogy is shit, just like every other Nolan movie (well, excluding Memento).
***** That has to be one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen. Christopher Nolan makes shitty movies? His films are all great, he made Inception, Memento, Interstellar, TDK trilogy, The Prestige, and Isonimia. He's one of the best directors working today and his new film Dunkirk looks great.
why you giving him what he wants *attention*
'Daddy. The only way we can be together is if you don't pull the trigger.'
LMAO!!! XD
W
that scene was so cringe worthy
L
Wtf did that even mean?
Don't kill Batman, Daddy or I'll cry!!
They almost tried too hard to modernize these characters, Killer Croc saying "bruh" and Harley and Joker texting.. it was just awkward.
Don't forget the "Now they worship machines" line.
well it's not a noir film.. its takes place in modern day where tech is prevalent.
Don't forget the, "I want BET" line. Absolute cringe.
I don't mind Harley and joker texting, but croc saying "bruh" kind of killed it for me
I laughed and rolled my eyes at the same time. Not sure what else he could'vre asked for that wou'dve been funny.
Imagine Tom Hardy saying "Her hearts out. We can end this."
Im glad Tom Hardy was in the revenant instead of this pile of crap.
how is no one talking about that wild wild west intro
I love your name. Its how i answer my phone to this day 😂

+baghead777 no...??
Sterling Archer Maybe 125
Please STOP!! No MORE CLICHES!!! Just STOP I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!
*****
Fair enough. The other option was to make solo movies for the heroes (Batman, a decent Superman film, the Flash, Aquaman) and feature the villains in them so that when they come together for their own movie, the film doesn't get bogged down by so many rushed introductions.
lacountess That's exactly what I said. "but they all should have had a decent set up in solo hero movies".
To me, Rick flag felt like the world worst escort mission. Every time he'd get grabbed for being incompetent my head would go "leon! Heeeelp!"
they said that towards the end yes, and even still, it was kinda skimmed over. I said I thought it when I saw it, which is before they commented on it. Besides, like Chris said, Rick was terrible in this movie. He was boring, he did things that constantly contradicted his so call morals, and he's kind of a hypocrite.
I actually really liked Rick Flag
***** tis true. Where's a bin to stick Flag in when you need it?
Worst part is, he's former Spec ops. All of his SEAL comrades like Scoot Eastwood were doing just fine. He kept fucking up
MC Cooper Harley really doesn't have any special abilities either yet she took care of them fine.
Next DC movie: "Slipknot V. Captain Boomerang". It is going to be so edgy Jared Leto can tattoo himself with it
I wonder if Corey's gonna win
Jai Courtney actually did great as Captain Boomerang! Finally!
Michael Haneke lol
did they ever explain the pink unicorn, or was that just supposed to be quirky for quirkiness's sake?
Flame of Udun Just for the quirkiness.
Supermovies Figures
He got the most laughs/giggles out of me, followed by Joker+Harley onscreen together, followed by Batman knocking Harley the fuck out xP. Rest of the comedy attempts failed.
Joker never dies you should know that.
The same thing that happened to him in the movie also happened in the Batman Assault on Arkham animated movie and...Yep he survived somehow.
yes, he never dies and i like it like that.
sasuke uchiha joker needs no explaination my friend. You know why, because he is joker :).
But naruto will 😢😢
Yashish Khara -_-
*Sigh* ANOTHER ULTIMATE CUT?
Agreed
Are you done trolling?
And you say I don't have a life? and you're on here talking about "loser" language. Just because I don't like a bad movie?
+james elimian sorry, hobo... I didn't mean to hurt your feelings...
Trust me better just to block him and move on #dontfeedthedouchebag
What are we, some kind of Justice League?
This movie definitely got me excited for Batman, Joker & Harley Quinn.
Yup!! I really hope the solo Batman film will in fact center around Mr. J and Harley as the villains. I think it would be freaking awesome.
The Harley Joker love story ruined the movie
+Batman One Million NOPE.
aguilacahc000
k
***** I enjoyed their character arc and development, it was intriguing. Movie plot was thin nonetheless.
Killer Croc...DC Cinematic Version of Groot...only less cool.
And without the snout. Total fail.
No, because Groot was actually useful. All Killer Croc did was growl a lot and throw a bomb
GTFO
not even lol
maaaaaan I hate how true this is. HE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN THE COMICS, DANM IT DC!!!! WHY ARE YOU MESSING UP YOUR OWN MOVIES!!!!!!!
it's kinda messy. it got it's good moments but still messy.
true
It kinda slaps you in the face with back stories
I would have loved an adaptation of Batman: Assault on Arkham rather than the Suicide Squad movie we got. For those who don't know, the animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham is about the Suicide Squad trying to break out the Riddler from Arkham Asylum and shit goes down in there when Harley Quinn breaks out the Joker. Then Batman gets involved and bang, we have a such a great movie
Harley and Deadshot carried the whole movie. Without them it would've been trash.
That's like saying TDK would be trash without Batman...
The Dark Knight would have still been alright without Batman
ya dead shot to op
Fake Account Not true, but that's not the point anyway. They are part of the movie, saying the movie would be worse if they weren't in it is totally redundant.
Abe S Yeah, I get your point, but TDK was all about the Joker, Batman wasn't near the main source of entertainment in that movie for me
I liked this movie.
I highly enjoyed it.
But, I agree with the flaws you pointed out..
This. Your comment pretty much sums up my thoughts. Lots of weaknesses but fairly enjoyable film.
Yeah exactly I honestly loved seeing the movie but yeah they did had some mistakes/flaws 😬
+Lucario 101 JK the critics are absolutely wrong it's a great movie
Yeah same but the action was good too I thought
The plot is ok and simple compared to ca civil war cheezy kid's story
I still think that DC movies feel more original than Marvel movies (excluding Deadpool). I think the Marvel Netflix shows are on the right track but the movie universe repeats the same formula every year.
And I hope the DC universe doesn't become like that with the Justice League. I liked Suicide Squad but it definately needs some improvement. I hope Ben Affleck can see the problems with these films and make his Batman films great.
+Andre Rumengan I think that was one of the biggest problems in Suicide Squad but technically they weren't heroes trying to save the world.
***** care to elaborate?
Your impressions are spot-on
DC fanboys disliking it wow.
They dislike the video of a reviewer that dislikes their "not for immature Marvel fans" movie because DC cinematic universe fanboys are more mature.
DC fans hates Green Latern, Catwoman, and batman and Robin movie
Darewin Ocampo lmao!
Well said bro, all those disliker are just a bunch of kids who aint grown up yet and can't receive critics.
Poison Ivy gave her a potion that enhanced her strength, speed, and agility, gave her an
immunity to toxins, and a small healing factor (though this seems to
vary -- later in her solo series she was shown to be able to heal from
gunshot wounds in a matter of seconds as soon as the bullet was
removed). She really has more physical strength than any Olympic athlete. She is able to put any man to the floor in only two punches or one kick. Her
legs seem really powerful, she manages to jump very high without effort
-- this, coupled with her prodigious gymnastic skills, makes her an
incredibly acrobatic and "bouncy" threat in combat, adding to her
momentum with pendulous weapons such as her hammer.

Chantelle see something needed to be mentioned in the movie about that then it all seemed so inconsistent
+Masterpsflood what was the explanation? This confused me too
+Chantelle Too bad this was never mentioned in the movie.
There was the bit with her falling in the chemical tank with Joker - possibly effecting her, but no explanation at all.
I cringed at the deadshot daughter scenes...some terrible acting and script
Dude me too! She literally said one thing which is No daddy no, I was like say somethingg else dammit.
That was the most cringey cliché shit I've ever seen. This and the slow mo before that
that scene only worked for me because of Will Smith, and the idea that deadshot was put in jail by Batman. the daughter was super meh
Will smith is one of the greatest actors of all time.
***** You make it seem like i didnt just speak an absolute fact :/
Anyway, if i was to heed your advice and end my own life would i not be unable to watch films? Instructing me to stop watching movies as a dead person is a bit redundant no?
I think the movie would've been better if it was suicide squad vs the joker or just the joker and harley alone
I absolutely hated Leto's performance of the JOKER. I wanted it to be good, as well as the movie itself, but was so disappointed. He seemed more like a crime boss than the joker...
.....The Joker is a crime boss.
I get what you're saying though, he was more of a mobster/gangster Joker.
If u had read any of the comics you'd now that the real joker acts like this
Ryan Berry How long does the joker appeared in the movie ?
+Yacine Snow like maybe 10 min at most. All his scenes were cut from the film. Stuff from the trailer was cut too
+ABC vs Challenges I read comics...this is not the joker. But if you think it is, that's your opinion!
-and I didn't. Different people, different perspectives.
Exactly. People need to stop making such a big deal about this. But will they? No because human's are stupid and they won't leave well enough alone.
Movie was shit bro... But glad you enjoyed it
Energizing Films Hey, thanks for being respectful. Have a good day sir!
everyone has different opinions...you liked it, some didn't...i like the one liners..hated the editting and pacing..
This movie was even worse the second time around.
Not really but your opinion.
I found it extremely difficult to stay invested in what was going on :/
Looks like SS failed its mission on you. The mission: Lets bore the auidience to suicide
detecting intense levels of marvel sweat without any acknowledgment of the shitness of marvel movies
+blue malhi Or maybe, just maybe, the film was shit. Not everything is about Marvel.
When Deadshot says "How the fuck are you not dead" to Amanda Waller at the end: That was probably the most self-reflecting and honest movie line ever. I mean he was literally saying out loud what everybody in the audience was thinking at that moment.
Basically there are no vilains in this movie.
except for every single character in the film.....
Do you realize the villain is an actual member of the suicide squad? what sense does that make
bob polo
Are you stupid!?!
Did you watch the movie?
Suicide Squad's primary mission was to get Amanda Waller out
+nickmb1978 ikr
Wasn't explained well enough
It was explained. They were meant to extract a VIP. It was revealed as a surprise that it was Waller. You weren't initially meant to know they were heading to Waller's base of operations.
+Christopher Marabella there was literally an entire scene dedicated to explaining what they were going to do
Eithen Mounty The spoon that feeds the audience apparently needs to be a ladle, these days.
It needed movies with these characters in it before they got together... Such a wasted opportunity.
dude this aint THE AVENGERS! aint nobody in their right mind would pay for solo bad guys movie setups...MAYBE Deadshoot n Harley Quinn..THAT'S IT!
Fuck you peice of shit
So true but if they did that they would have Probaly been called copycats from people that like avengers
kbg12ila not really they only had to do joker harley movie of mad love first n ending it with harley getting caught by bats n put in jail n joker getting away n then making this suicide squad so we would not have harleys stand alone flashbacks constantly...
+pjsmith97 agreed
+pjsmith97 I will also add that they probably didn't care of these criminals got hurt or died even. They were like dummy's you could throw into battle.
Yeah batman will totally work for the government. -_- ignorant fuck.
So was winter soldiers
Me 2
Dude..how dare you disagree with Chris on even one small point?? Don't you know the fanboys will rage at you if you disagree with Chris? (sarcasm)
they weren't sent to stop Enchantress in the first place. They were saving Waller. The only reason they fought Enchantress is because of she has Waller, which is a weak reason imo
for me this movie is bad, i hate how they potrait the villian as a hero, we don't have to like them. like hanibal lecter for example, he is the main character of his movie but he is hands down an evil man, he butchered many inocent people but i still like him as main character, so why can't be suicide squad like that, an evil badass that audience like
It was terrible
DC stop trying to be Marvel
Fuck off. They're not trying to be them
I honestly vibed a lot of GoTG vibes all over the whole film. I smell film executives doing their dirty work.
Guess what bitch, DC tries to be its own thing. But because there's a Marvel Formula, poor DC gets shit as it isn't Marvel. So.... If you are being put down for being unique, what other options do u have?
I wouldn't want DC marvel. And thank god they aren't
lol dc has a long road ahead of them if they want to catch up with marvel
Everytime Leto was on screen I thought it was Jim Carrey
When you realize Harley Quinn,
-got recruited in the team for no reason
-failed to escape with Joker and rejoined for no reason
-became friends with other squad members quickly for no reason
-agreed to fight Enchantress for no reason
-went back to jail at the end for no reason(her micro bomb was deactivated)
I can't believe more people aren't complaining about Killer Croc. You guys remember back in Arkham Asylum where we soiled our pants in fear of him? And what is this portrayal? I am a hardcore DC fan, particularly Batman, yet I seriously loathed his role in the movie.
imagine a contained film where the squad is trying to escape the joker because he wants Harley, if it was done right it probably would have be amazing
*been
I was thinking Joker would take over the Squad! Would have been 10X better!
well you'd got to think of a reason why Harley wouldn't leave
right, why they didn't use story from "assault on arkham" btw....
I honestly thought he was going to be the main villain. Would have been epic, I tell you.
How many times will DC make a bad movie which has a good movie somewhere hidden in it ???
They’re probably going to keep going until they can get their Infinity War style finale for their cinematic universe. But that’s the biggest problem with the DCEU, they just rushed everything.
I was deeply disapointed with this movie, i was like, "sure, it migth be bad, but it can't be that bad, can it?", and well i lowered my expectacions and it still disapointed, the editing and scripting was a mess, literally 20m of exposition...
also, Enchantres and Rick Flag..... they were the worst stuff in the movie...
I wanted so much to see Rick Flag killed, what an utterly dislikeable and overall terrible character he was. Shit character and shit actor
He is a good charecter but it was a weak portrayal of him considering it could have been tom hardy
+Law2811 I heard Leto filmed a lot of scenes too
GoggleMan25
Yeah that's just disrespectful to the actor, Leto really did his homework to be the joker for him to be plain cut out just to make the movie more "funny"
Been saying the movie should of been about joker escaping arkham with harley and other hostages and the squad is sent to save them and kill him since batman wont. Then harley becomes like two face in dark knight and turns in the end
I would pay to see that movie Raab Savage
Suicide Squad was an uninspired messy piece of shit that thinks that pretty lights, Harley Quinn Fanservice, heavy unnecessary CGI, and a popular retro song every five fucking minutes compensates for a weak generic story with a weak generic villain and a weak generic resolution, cheesy lines, dumb lame cliches, shit pacing, an incoherent edition that could pass as a swiss cheese with ADHD, plot devices for every plot point and plot armor for every important character, and a characterization that could literally pass as a highschoolers PPT presentation homework.
4/10
I agreed
"Made for the fans" so I guess that's what they think of us.
4/10 is what I gave it as well. There's glints of some gems that COULD have been fully utilized but it honestly missed the mark big time. Only highlights are a handful of characters ( Harley Quinn, Joker, Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller) and the cameo of Batman & Flash...everything else reeks of terrible writing, direction and possibly company suits getting in the way.
everything you just said is every marvel movie ever gg man
+blue malhi But it's not, lol.
Didn’t joker like ditch Harley lol, I don’t think he had a shit to give about Harley,
@@mrmesmerizer855 Later on yeah but this was obviously before that Harley Quinn movie that came out.
@@TheChrisPhoenix nah in suicide squad he ditched Harley when Batman caught harley
Im sorry but what really ruined the movie for me was the editing/pacing felt like so many deleted scenes and added scenes were in. Also characters like slipknot and boomerang were PATHETIC had like 3 lines of dialogue and did nothing.
ALSO YES WHY were people like Harley Quinn and captain boomerang on this team against a EARTH DESTRUCTION WITCH ZOMBIE THREAT???
Because they are two of the most known suicide squad members?
+Novacane i dunno about Slipknot, but Captain Boomerang is well known in the Flash comics by fans
Boomerang had more lines then Croc and Katana
Well you do know that the movie was given to the same people who edited the trailer to edit the whole movie... Also I agree with killer croc, I felt like I saw him killing ONE guy for like 3 minutes and Harley had too many of the "hey I'm a cute girl and I made a cute joke/remark"
Man, i watched the movie and really liked it, then watched Chris explaining on details why it was bad. I still enjoy the movie but... he gave me a downer. Lessons learned, don't nit pick or take a superheroes movie too seriously in order to enjoy it
Criticism isn't nit-picking.
Criticizing and analizing doesnt mean nit pick or taking something too seriously
Lol don't take it up the ass too hard is what this comment makes me think of lol
I loved it, The Harley Quinn, flashbacks brought me back to Batman the animated series
I love the costume she wears in one of the flashbacks mimicked the cover of the Harley Quinn and Jokes Chris has behind him...
+lemonsky There was a comic where her color were blue and red. And she was pretty much wearing the exact clothes as she was wearing in that comic.
nostalgic dumbass
Than they went back to Black and red
You're awesome Chris I've been watching for years now
I think Joker fit into this film quite nicely... I loved this movie
+Michael Haneke Just giving my opinion
true
I also didn't like the gangbanger approach to the character, it just didn't feel like Joker
+Harrison Workman I Agree with your opinion and I loved Suicide Squad as well.
Flame of Udun it fits the clown prince of crime part of the joker
Even though I liked Suicide Squad, Chris does have good points and reasons for why he didn't like the film.
maybe you should be talking about why Chris teeth are so dark?!
I think he has braces?
Well would you look at that, somebody capable of agreeing to disagree over the internet. I salute you
braces
MasterMike 000 Same here
I respect your opinion and agree with you on certain things like having the squad go up against something a bit more human and grounded, but i still really liked this movie.
+Karl Naumann plus they had barely talked to each other, most of the interaction was between Harley and Deadshot, and Deadshot talking to Rick Flag, barely anyone else says anything
it was crap but had enjoyable moments. dc can do trailers so well but when it comes to the actual movies they are pretty meh.
“These characters should have been sent to another country to deal with some radical extremist”
Looks like James Gunn got Stuckmannized!
I went into this movie to just watch random ass shit happen. And I got that lmao
Izaiya Carter Why are you watching a film review if you obviously care so little about the medium, then?
Payon de because he wants to
Besides a weak villain, I think it's a pretty good movie
Meh
She wasn't weak at all... Bullets and normal weapons didn't do shit to her. only katana's blade could do something to her. But i agree that the movie lacked more enchantress...
+frank almonte he meant weak in terms of interest, like she was boring and generic, she's obviously very powerful
+GoggleMan25 Yup. She reminded me so much of the villain from the first ghost busters movie. Just the whole scenario did
Me too
it was a 6 month script intended as a marketing gimmick, just competition for marvel.
6 week.
6 weeks?! thats even worse😧
This movie was so bad, I felt sorry for the actors (and the director if he really got fucked over).
It was Ight
He only had 6 weeks to write the movie so...
+Generic Gametag www.complex.com/pop-culture/2016/08/suicide-squad-director-david-ayer-6-weeks-write-script and a bunch of other articles if you look up "david ayer 6 weeks to write suicide squad"
Feel bad that the actors and directors and getting fuck loads of money? I think they are doing just fine
Bob sagget
I feel bad as in, they genuinely seemed to care that they were passionate about the project. From what I read, they reshoot a lot of scenes, deleted a lot of Joker scenes and called the guys who made the trailer to re-edit the film and give it a a more 'fun' vibe by adding bunch of random songs, and it ended up being a clusterfuck.
Leto's Joker sounds like he's trying to do Ledger's voice but he's aroused at the same time
I agree with you man, I would have LOVED to see a movie with the Joker and Harley’s relationship and how it came to be. I myself am a big fan of romance, but romance is getting a bit dull nowadays, and a movie about their twisted relationship would have really spiced it up, in my opinion.
4:13 Now I know why so many people parody that line in the comments
I just recently subscribed to this channel and it's already one of my favorites. I don't know why I need Chris to explain what I feel about these movies but I do and he does a great job.
i wen't in with very low expectations, i thought it'd be dogshit tbh but a free tickets a free ticket. I was still disappointed.
its so simple but this is one my favorite intros youve done, i just cant over his outfit i laugh every time i see it
The worst thing about Suicide Squad was definitely Cara Delevingne's acting! It was sooo bad!
I don't understand her 'stardom'
She’s a model, not an actress. She even lapsed into her “model walk” while playing the Enchantress.
@El Señor Xan really? She's skinny as fck to begin with
I tried watching Suicide Squad last night. I lasted 38 minutes, and then decided that my life was too short to watch any more.
get rid of the joker, the witch and replace the bad guy with amanda waller
and it is still a fucking shit
"What am i, some kinda Venom?"
Holy shit, now I _wish_ that had been in Spider-Man 3.
Maybe it's setting up a Justice League V Suicide Squad where Superman murders all of the Suicide Squad.
lol I'd pay to see dat.
5 min movie.
No
2 second movie....
If Enchantress was apart of it she could take him because Superman is weak to magic.
Wrong, the Suicide Squad were sent to stop Enchantress and Incubus before Amanda Waller was captured.
derrick s Wrong, Enchantress and Rick Flagg's team were sent to defeat Incubus.
I actually liked Flagg's character. He wasn't written perfectly but I didn't think he was terrible like you did. To each their own.
me too I liked him.
I didn't believe the "romance" he had with the enchantress and he just kinda acts "tough" but nobody is intimidated by him or respects him, so I didn't.
Flagg's acting was fucking horrendous holy shit
I disagree, he was nothing more but a plot device for Enchantress and the story and some very...very failed attempts at comedy between him and Deadshot. Removing him from the movie would have been more room for the actual Suicide Squad to have had more interaction and development.
the scene where he was eating chicken 😂😂
Why did Deadshot deliberately miss the shot on Harley? he was offered freedom, to be with his daughter,, and he didn't take it because he felt sorry for some psycho bitch he didn't even know? are you kidding me? (I'm aware of the rumors about the the romance between the two being cut out, but without this information Deadshot's decision makes no sense)
arcticridge He felt good in her.
It's just you.
Not really. Im a regular ol' college student who gets movie screening tickets because I enter a lot of contests. It's just like going to any other movie except I'm just not payjng for it.
It seems the other way around.
maybe we should be talking about why Chris teeth are so dark?!
I guess no one will read that :D. It's too damm Long.
Jokes on you, I read it
God, I am in love with your laugh. It's probably the best part of your arsenal of awesomeness in your vids.
"He's the man who can climb anything" goddammit this movie was shit
