+tigerfanman yea everyone complaining is dumb i liked batman slamming mother fuckers on their heads. Of course i care about the source material but batman did kill people , just cause he didnt in nolans films doesnt mean shit
i believe they based it at least partially on the batman from the flashpoint series. in that universe batman was thomas wayne instead of bruce, he was relentless, brandished two pistols, killed everyone and didnt care
I personally loved the movie. It had some issues, the editing in the first hour was bad and the movie is pretty unfocused. HOWEVER, those few issues didn't ruin the movie for me. I liked the whole first half, it just could have been smoother. There's so much to like in the movie, especially all the performances. Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg were amazing. Gal Gadot was great too. And I was totally against Eisenberg and Gadot's casting.. They both surprised the hell out of me. I was actually onboard with Ben Affleck being cast and he proved me right :'). Batfleck fucking KILLED it though. Best on-screen Batman because he was not only a good Batman but a great Bruce Wayne as well. I also have no problem with Batman killing people. Between the Man of Steel damage of Metropolis and Robin being kill, the man has just lost it. Hence him not giving a fuck about killing people or not anymore. 8.5/10 (if the first half was more focussed and flowed better it would be a 9.5-10/10)
It's a good thing that Superman's Earth-mom is named Martha, otherwise Batman would have killed Superman, and then Doomsday would have killed everyone on Earth.
After seeing this movie a second time my rating has gone up . I actually think they did a very clever job at building towards future movies while keeping this story very compelling .
+Lance Cade It's hilarious watching you fanboys desperately try to convince yourselves this was a good movie.INB4 I get called a Marvel fanboy. Those movies are mediocre at best. Guardians was overrated, Ultron was forgettable, Civil War actually looks really good though.
taken from the IMDB trivia page "A rough cut of the film was shown for the executives at Warner Bros. They were reportedly so impressed that they not only gave the film a standing ovation, but also began negotiating a deal with Ben Affleck to have him make three solo Batman movies, rather than the original plan to make only one" DC, I have one piece of advice. Hire executives who can tell stories, rather than some idiots who think that CGI-infested crap is a good film
Really enjoyed the level headed conversation about this movie. Everyone nowadays has to have an over the top reaction ( love or hate like you mentioned) but this format for discussion was perfect.
I don't think that was really Flashpoint Paradox. I think they're doing Injustice, hence the "Darth-Superman" vibe in the dream. Then what the Flash said was "You were right about him blah blah. Lois Lane is the key blah blah". You were right about him, meaning that Batman was right about Superman turning evil, as The Flash was kinda in between the two, but ultimately sided with Supe's Regime. Lois Lane is the key, telling Batman to not let the Joker kill her and set off the entire storyline.
BvS is for some reason my guilty pleasure. Like I acknowledge that it's not a great movie, but I still watch it like several times a year for some reason. I just enjoy it and I have no idea why.
Also! Zack Snyder was so put off from everybody saying millions died and billions in damage from Man of Steel. that they wrote into the movie a report or saying "luckily the "whatever" district is empty because the work day is over. AND that where they fought Doomsday Batman says "don't worry, I own these docks they're abandoned." As if Zack is preparing for the hate, lol
+Grags How ?...Again they kept saying no one was around (or practical empty) or places were abandoned. What mass destruction ? Besides Doomsday with his evolving / energy field radius. That was it,also Superman and Batman both led him away. Hard to say this movie isn't getting hate, when ppl just making facts up.
+Grags i disagree with pointless. thats the dumbest thing ever. realistically things are never neat and perfect. if course there would be tons of damage if batman and superman fought doomsday
+Grags to be fair in Man of Steel, he did try to bring the fight to the sky with Zod and fly away but Zod kept bringing it to the ground. Zods goal was to murder civilians in front of Superman to torture him mentally.
+Grags superman went through the wall with the guy, doesn't mean he went in badguy first. "And the uninhabited excuse didn't wash with me." yeah only if there was a convenient heli-carrier that popped up at the end of the movie.
That's how it starts. The fever. The rage. The feeling of powerlessness. That turns good men...cruel. That was the explanation - Bruce Wayne is in pain from what happened in the very first few scenes and whatever happened with robin. In the comics, especially The Dark Knight Rises, he kills people. At the end of the film, his moral code is restored as he didn't 'mark' lex Luther.
+Steven McCallum Well done mate exactly and plus the realistic thing is, is that ur goanna have to get ur hands dirty like it or not when you are in those situations sometimes. Specially when those goons have guns strapped on em, Plus he doesn't even kill that many in this film and I don't see what all the fuss is about, not in the last gang member fight scene were talking about at least. That one guy blown himself up with the grenade, with only abit of help from bats there doe, heheh. But yeh he still fucked himself over thou. As for saving superman's mother, well he had to didn't he. It was a redeeming factor for him also in a weird way. It was that bastard or her.
it's hard to make Batman and Superman fight when you make them the same person. The two of them literally had nothing to fight about the whole movie they're both mass murderers, they both have capes, and both their mom's name is Martha. if did use the real Batman and the real Superman than they could have had real controversy by utilizing the characters innate philosophical differences but who wants that. this is Snyder's world where everyone take steroids and kill people because it's cool.
Rez Mass murder (sometimes interchangeable with "mass destruction") is the act of murdering a number of people, typically simultaneously or over a relatively short period of time. The FBI defines mass murder as murdering four or more persons during an event with no "cooling-off period" between the murders.
this video, its like your watching a man being tempted by the gods into his own destruction. you can see how much that snapped neck is on the brain here. its like the alien chest burster slowly growing to maturity inside him.
@@christophzeit6282 what to you guys think about snyders portray of dark compared to Todd phillips and Christopher Nolan? I think he makes his charcters edgy while the others directors put characters to society that feels grounded
@@j.t2348 Yeah, it comes across as style over substance thing with snyder. man of steel and bvs are so ugly looking movies, they are so depressing. The superman universe isn't the best choice if you want to push dark and gritty to an extreme. The only reason why you would put batman and superman in a movie together is because of their contrast. Batman, the brooding, dark loner, superman, the naive and optimistic boyscout. You can't make them both brooding and depressed. It just doesn't work
I really hated this movie because nobody involved in it understands human motivation or actions. What I enjoy of movies is that they create a world where to tell a story. Zack Snyder doesn't like doing this, as he has said himself in the interviews ("I like to remind people that they are watching a movie"). I wouldn't have cared much for the changes to the original script if they had taken the time to give them a logical explanation...but they didn't because they were too focused with creating a Justice League. Filmmaking is storytelling at its core if Zack Snyder refuses to tell a good story then he should go do something else with his life and let good storytellers take the money he is tossing to the trash can. It perhaps he should promote himself to direct the new Transformers movie, that is more like "his scene".
Yeah that was what I hated most about it. The people in it don't behave like real people which makes their motivations and actions look inadequate at best and moronic/mean-spirited at worst. The writers clearly don't interact much. One my favourite scenes was where Bruce silently puts a cup of coffee in front of Alfred by ways of an apology. I thought "wow, the first genuinely human moment in this mess". Wanna bet Affleck wrote that?
+Deusirae79 Meta humans are still human, though, so their motivations aren't supposed to be nonsensical I'm pretty sure. But seriously, I envy everyone who liked the movie. You should be glad you could enjoy it.
Got to comment on your point at 11:12 Alfred *does* talk to Batman about how he's become more cruel. They DO acknowledge it. When he shows the newspaper cover with the branding. I personally loved this version of Batman, I want the older, more angrier version, who sees criminals as weeds you cut down. This is the Batman I've always wanted on film.
I agree, they absolutely mention it with the conversation with Alfred, how could they miss that? I don't mind that criminals died while attacking Batman, he shouldn't have to concern for their safety when they are trying to kill him..... like he said, he compares them to weeds, and he was just pulling some weeds.
Doomsday should not have been in this movie. If the writers really wanted Lex to create a monster from a combo of his and Zod's DNA then Bizzaro should have been created instead of Doomsday.
This film shreaks of cocaine fueled writing session where egos think every idea they have is grrrrrrREAT! Every decision was somehow justified with coke logic and all heart and emotion left the script coz, hey, that's what coke does. Ego 1 Heart 0. "Lookit how clever we are ! we are geniuses!...rack up another line while i break out another bottle of whisky!"
Doomsday was not in that movie. I don't care what anyone says. That thing was not and will never be Doomsday. It's not even close to how Doomsday was created.
batman completely throwing his hatred for superman out of the window because their mums have the same name was the stupidest part of the movie for me. how can you be on the verge of killing someone then realise oh wait your mum has the same name as mine? oh well then i love ya man
+MVPboppin it's because Bruce didn't think of Clark as human, he didn't believe he was capable of emotion, but he begged batman to save his mother, a human, Clark had accepted he'd die, but still begged Bruce to save his human mother, thus batman finally realised superman was on some level human, he cares nothing for his life
XD!!! Think about it?!!!! IT COULD OF BEEN SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH OMG DUDE THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE LAUGH HAHAHAHA
No not even close this isn't a review its people talking about the film with no real emphasis I on anything blinded by fanboyism cause this was actually a great movie way better than what it's been given
Although I enjoyed the movie, I do completely agree with everything you guys said! It could have been SO much better, but alas, it wasn't. Still, I enjoyed it enough (to the point I want to see it a second time.) Great review guys, really loved it!
That's how it starts. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men... cruel. that is why batman kills that is implied as the reason...he is broken by what happened in metropolis.
Exactly!! As much as these guys review film this one simple ideology gets overlooked... Bruce even said it himself, "how many good guys are left?" He doesn't even think he's good anymore and by the end of the movie he's had an arc where he wants to be good again and he doesn't bash Lex's face in
+john busby there are a lot of things they missed... like the fact that lex was manipulating the situation the whole time he let Bruce take his files he let Bruce steal the kryptonite... it doesn't take a genius to figure out his end game was for superman to kill batman and then doomsday kills superman and that keeps him out of line light.... keeps his evidence buried. I thought the movie was great....I don't think we needed to establish any of these characters cause we all know who they are and thier motivations...how many origin films do we need!!?? the only thing I didn't like was lex.
Really interesting to watch this 3 years later. So many gripes were explained in the ultimate edition, but at the same time were still there in the theatrical. Batman crossing the line and being questioned by Alfred was there "new rules master Wayne?" "we're criminals Alfred, always have been". And superman's motivation against batman was still there, though further explained in the ultimate edition. But when he gets the pics of the dead branded guy in jail that say judge jury and executioner makes him think batman is a bad guy. And while there are things that aren't perfect, no movie is, I still love it and one of my favs.
My favorite part was Neil deGrasse Tyson's cameo. When I told my friends, they were like "Who's Neil deGrasse Tyson?", and I was like "I need new friends".
The Martha thing could of been done so much better.. yes it was decent to could of been SOOOOO much better!!! In every single way! In every single fucking way!
I think it was absolutely great, but what bothers me like really, really is the simple thing, that Superman calls his mother by her first name. I've watched this movie a lot of times, like yesterday, and I really think it's great, but my problem is that thing with the first name, that he doesn't say "Save my mother!" but Martha. I would've loved something like when Bruce would have like a vision from his mother standing in front of him and seeing him what he's doing right there, shaking her head and leaving, disappearing, so then Bruce realises way more what a monster (and some sort of Two-Face) he has become and is like "oh shit". And it would have been way sadder than seeing the first five minutes again with the same music and everything the same, because even a grown up Bruce Wayne would have like a "Mum? Don't leave, no"-moment in his head and everything... So, thinking about it... actually you're right, they could've done it better :D
It was extremely poorly executed despite being an interesting concept about Batman realising that in some ways Superman is actually very human. Unfortunately they made it laughable.
+Jonathan Lynch Agreed. Unlike other movies bogged down by too many plot points or too many characters, this one is still a good watch with outstanding performances. I mean if you REALLY want to get down on a film that fucks it up....Spider-Man 3 is the epitome for me on just not doing anything good.
+Nikki S. (Nickywhat) I think the movie suffers from huge expectations. Everyone wants it to be perfect, but everyone has different ideas of what perfect would be. It was enough for me to know that Lex gained access to the Kryptonian ship early in the movie, hacked in with Zod's fingerprints, and activated some of the crazy alien tech stuff. Explaining every complex point in exacting detail would have made this into a 4-hour movie. I mainly just enjoyed watching Batman be a total badass.
The funny thing is you guys are mentioning the Batmobile scene, but that total scene was only there because Snyder's thinking we've got to have a rad batmobile scene. Think about it. Batman is up on the crane uses his "rifle" and shoots a tracking beacon onto the truck. The Batman from the animated series or comics would have then tracked that truck to it's destination, shown up in using his ninja stealth and would have done some investigating. Instead we get the redundant and less sophisticated Batmobile scene (which was fun) of him being a blunt object of destruction. (More Punisher's style than Batman.)
I didn’t mind the whole save Martha part. Batman is obsessed with his parents death always being reminded of it. Martha makes him think of his mother it makes sense and he’s guilty of not saving his parents so Superman saying save Martha and snapping Batman out of his rage makes sense to me.
Who gives a damn? Nolan had very little to do with This film. Stan Lee has executive producing on Marvel movies too. Nolan has no more to do with this film than Stan Lee has to do with practically every Marvel movie. The Executive producer normally has very little involvement in the film. Hell Jon Peters has executive producing credit on Man Of Steel but he has nothing to do with that film.
I watched another UA-cam review of this movie and someone else brought up that lex Luther was acting like the anxious ocd riddler. Lex should’ve been more like DCs version of tony stark - calculating, arrogant, confident etc.
Zack Snyder Lex Luthor- THROW MORE ADDERRALL AT IT!!!! Crew: WE RAN OUT OF ADDERALL OVER AN HOUR AGO!!! Zack Snyder: THEN THROW THE XANAX AT IT!!!!! Crew: WE'RE ALL OUT OF THAT TOO!!!!! (Keep in mind this is a Zack Snyder film, meaning that entire conversation is taking place AFTER the severe overdose of antidepressants that it takes to get that color pallette)
This movie is like a party. Everything's in your face, the music is booming, and it's mindless fun. But after a while the high wears off, you're surrounded by sweaty strangers, and u realize u don't have a ride home.

i believe they based it at least partially on the batman from the flashpoint series. in that universe batman was thomas wayne instead of bruce, he was relentless, brandished two pistols, killed everyone and didnt care
Chris' laugh at 3:30... omg man you are the best 😂😂
This video made me laugh out loud. Thank you xD
Danielle Cardenas Hey Pervy Creepy Creep
Danielle Cardenas Well isn't that just wonderful. One day you can tell your daughter the same thing.
Jesse Heisenberg acted more like the riddler. which I think would make more sense but that's just me.

Also this movie gave us a worse lex luthor
The film is a solid 7.5-8 out of 10

ya, in my opinion he didn't resemble doomsday, but the film as overall excellent
+TheAlmightyOragutan He was also stupidly tall and looked like a grumpy baby wearing no diper
+TheAlmightyOragutan I thought of LOTR too. When Doomsday was revealed, I thought "Oh, they have a cave troll"
+Majeh Lol! Except I think he was actually wearing a diaper after his placenta fell everywhere xD

It did why it wanted to do. It got me excited for future movies

+Lance Cade i think i don't to watch it again, yeah they did a good job to build up the story for the next movie
taken from the IMDB trivia page "A rough cut of the film was shown for the executives at Warner Bros. They were reportedly so impressed that they not only gave the film a standing ovation, but also began negotiating a deal with Ben Affleck to have him make three solo Batman movies, rather than the original plan to make only one" DC, I have one piece of advice. Eisenbergs performance was quite good but it just didnt fit the character maybe the riddler
Yeah him as Lex Jr was off
Really enjoyed the level headed conversation about this movie.
:O

Also! Zack Snyder was so put off from everybody saying millions died and billions in damage from Man of Steel. that they wrote into the movie a report or saying "luckily the "whatever" district is empty because the work day is over. AND that where they fought Doomsday Batman says "don't worry, I own these docks they're abandoned." As if Zack is preparing for the hate, lol
reporter*
I'm lovin the collabs with FlickPick. Keep them coming!!!
+Steven McCallum Thanks god !!! Someone notice it !!!
+Carl P bat branding for your blasphemy !
+Carl P "mass murderers" someone's using that term a bit loosely.
Rez will it is the true
Carl P it is true that you're using it a bit loosely.
Rez Mass murder (sometimes interchangeable with "mass destruction") is the act of murdering a number of people, typically simultaneously or over a relatively short period of time. The FBI defines mass murder as murdering four or more persons during an event with no "cooling-off period" between the murders.

Don't let Snyder direct EVERY SINGLE MOVIE on the DCCU. That can fix it
Holy shit, it did
@@MrMrSanti lol
The only thing snyder should direct is people to their seats in theaters.
I meant original material instead of script*
Yeah that was what I hated most about it. The people in it don't behave like real people which makes their motivations and actions look inadequate at best and moronic/mean-spirited at worst. The writers clearly don't interact much. One my favourite scenes was where Bruce silently puts a cup of coffee in front of Alfred by ways of an apology. I thought "wow, the first genuinely human moment in this mess". Wanna bet Affleck wrote that?
Good for you. There are people who prefer to see what "meta-human" motivations or actions look like in this movie.
+Deusirae79 Meta humans are still human, though, so their motivations aren't supposed to be nonsensical I'm pretty sure. But seriously, I envy everyone who liked the movie. You should be glad you could enjoy it.
Got to comment on your point at 11:12
Alfred *does* talk to Batman about how he's become more cruel.
I thought I was the only one that caught that.
It's not even close to how Doomsday was created.
batman completely throwing his hatred for superman out of the window because their mums have the same name was the stupidest part of the movie for me. how can you be on the verge of killing someone then realise oh wait your mum has the same name as mine? oh well then i love ya man
That was a huge reach and was a little strange!
There's a deeper meaning to it man. They aren't gonna spell it out for you like all the marvel movies, you have to actually think about these movies
Logan Garrick lol good try mate, i thought you were serious for a second
+MVPboppin it's because Bruce didn't think of Clark as human, he didn't believe he was capable of emotion, but he begged batman to save his mother, a human, Clark had accepted he'd die, but still begged Bruce to save his human mother, thus batman finally realised superman was on some level human, he cares nothing for his life

And while there are things that aren't perfect, no movie is, I still love it and one of my favs.
to answer the query about batman and lex not communicating...well, lex only put his plan to action when he saw the bat-signal...so yeah
And I think he was expecting Batman to steal the Kryptonite.
"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck."

When you remember a joke in class - 3:31
They liked the whole Martha thing? What?
Eric Harris Ikr? That made me cringe a bit.
It was extremely poorly executed despite being an interesting concept about Batman realising that in some ways Superman is actually very human. Unfortunately they made it laughable.
it's "could HAVE" not "could of". Yeah I'm being a grammar Nazi but I've seen you post that like 3 times on these comments.
I really enjoyed the movie. The positives far outweighed the negatives for me.
same for me exactly.
Jared Waters please read the dark knight returns comics he kills this isn't your animated series batman
TheRightAngleGamer Batman only kills Joker at the end nobody else
Clark, For all the years to come, I want you to remember the one man who beat you. If that was in the movie it would have been awesome
I didn’t mind the whole save Martha part. Batman is obsessed with his parents death always being reminded of it. Martha makes him think of his mother it makes sense and he’s guilty of not saving his parents so Superman saying save Martha and snapping Batman out of his rage makes sense to me.
To me Wonder Woman was the only GREAT character in this movie, I'm disappointed you guys barely mentioned her.
Oh really? I thought that batman is the best thing from the movie
@@ysgoh4446 he probably think that Bale is the best batman ever like all the sheeps on net

+RXN54 yes, it was in the initial credits
Who gives a damn? Nolan had very little to do with This film. Stan Lee has executive producing on Marvel movies too. Nolan has no more to do with this film than Stan Lee has to do with practically every Marvel movie. The Executive producer normally has very little involvement in the film. Hell Jon Peters has executive producing credit on Man Of Steel but he has nothing to do with that film.
the only positive in this movie is exactly that, Nolan will get paid for it
