I knew I would and have but now it's to remember my young times with my mom that just died on August 11th. She was only 67. I had hoped she would live longer but she chose to stay with a man who deliberately stressed her out every time me and my sister would try to visit. He picked fights with us and her because he didn't want us there and then he would claim we didn't love her when we weren't there.

I just realized it's not 20 years - but 30 years - that I've been moved by the minor chords and primal intensity of Billy's voice (where have the years gone). It's only now that I'm hearing the brilliant expression and critique of the painful life in the music industry that - I now see - has been such a huge part of his history. Hm. I know right Billy Squier really doesn't get the credit he deserves it's a real shame how the music industry screwed him over and it's probably one of the reasons why he's blackballed from the business because when he put this song on he was exposing the music industry he should be remembered more these days but they unfortunately blackballed him from the industry they blackballed him because he wouldn't fall in line with what they wanted he did something that why do people at the time weren't doing and remember this song came out back in the 70s the song was really ahead of its time he did what a lot of people were afraid to do at the time and that was exposing the music industry Michael Jackson did it back in 2001 when Sony screwed him over and refused to do any type of promotion for his album Invincible which makes me question where they are already planning to bring down his career from the beginning those are things that you got to wonder

Saw Billy open for Foreigner on the "Foreigner 4" tour at the Rosemont Horizon (Chicago) in late 1981. One of the best concerts I ever saw. Billy's set was awesome, but to me the highlight was "The Stroke". He had 5 or 6 guys from the audience (none of them particularly sober) come up on the stage and, well, do the stroke in time with the heavy drum beat. The real treat was that one of the guys was completely off from the other ones. When they were up, he was down, and when they were down he was up. 🤣🤣🤣

September 1989, we just started our senior year. I was recovering from a bad motorcycle accident and we lost our classmate in car accident. He was a twin so his brother was devastated with all of us. This was our class anthem and it all brought us closer as a class. I used my settlement money to buy kegs of beer and we all left school and went to the mountains to party and be with each other. Rest in Peace Tracy Class of 1989
