Showed this to my mom-in-law. She really liked learning that way. She was great at Honga, too! So was our toy poodle "Honga", who demanded grandma's attention and affection the whole game!
Perhaps your poodle has a little sabretooth tiger in it's ancestry :)
"... Thanks for re-watching!" 🤣
Great job! Rewatched all the way through the first and now this one. This game looks very fun
Thanks for that - appreciated!
Honga is the 6th game my husband and I have gotten after watching your how to play videos. Well, technically the 5th, but we pre-ordered Bosk. Your videos and personality are awesome. Thanks so much for doing what you do, you are by far our favorite UA-camr for games!
Thanks so much for the kind words lilster! Hope you have fun with all the games :)
Bosk is great!!
Played this online once and really liked it. Just bought it on amazon prime 2 day and can't wait to play it in person :)
Have a great time playing!
Thank you! Love this game!
So glad you enjoyed Cade!
This was very helpful, thanks!
You're very welcome - have fun playing!
Your videos are awesome! I really hope you can do a rule explanation for Pulsar 2849 😊
Thanks for the interest.
I felt sad that I had no fish, until I met a man with no fish and a hungry saber toothed cat coming to visit.
if you have no fish he'll eat your berries, if you have no berries he'll eat your mushrooms, if you have no mushrooms, he'll eat your mammoth, if you have no mammoth he'll just eat you - GAME OVER! very sad
Honga is just like my toy poodle, except that she would like to eat cheeseburger, pizza, and sweet potato chips, she would bark the woolly mammoths into submission rather than eating them, & she would ALWAYS leave whoever she is pestering if grandma arrives. XD Amazing video as always, Rodney!!!
Well, we know who your poodle would cheer for in this game!
@@WatchItPlayed XD
Herself? XD
"... Thanks for re-watching!" 🤣
Indeed!
So, it is Honga the Hot Potato Cat.
Ha! Yes :)
@@WatchItPlayed That was the first thing I thought of when you explained where the cat goes when you don't assign it hands. I wonder if the game designer thought of the same thing ,but he couldn't call the game Honga the Hot Potato Cat. It just takes you out of the theme.
Is there no end to creative action selection mechanisms? This looks fun.
That was one of the main reasons I wanted to feature this one. Didn't feel I had seen anything quite like this before.
Great video. Quick question: if you place more than one hand at the barter ? can you buy more than one card and do they have to be among the 3 visible cards or you start buying one, then reveal a new one and make your choice for the 2nd purchase among the 3 new cards or it has to be among the 2 cards ? Also in order to kick out honga with a bonus card can you do it immediately when he visits you or does he have to eat one resource and only then you can kick him out ? thank you
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Can you please help me to find board games that easy to explain “not complicated games” but you must have strategy to win? Such as Ticket to ride. Thanks 🙏.
Carcasonne, Catan, MAchi koro,
We have a playlist of games for people new to the hobby on our front page, if you want to check those out.
how often do you get to play your own board games O_O theres so many. must be some you have only played once or not at all
I try to play as often as I can!
Are you SURE Honga isn't a toy poodle?! "Honga just wants everyone's affection, all the time, forever." Yeah, it's got to be my Rosey. When she gets mad, she does strongly resemble a sabretooth tiger. That must've been how you made the mistake. Very understandable, Rodney. If you compare her image (see my avatar) to the Honga meeple, you will see they are, indeed, the same creature. It's okay, though. No need to make a correction to the video. Honga...I mean, er, Rosey....will understand. I think. Maybe. As long as you pet her for the rest of your life.
Does seem like they require the same amount of attention to keep them happy :)
With this new format, I now like to play a game of 'spot the box before Rodney reaches for it'. I'm doing quite well so far.
I hope you're keeping score :)
Great tutorial as always! I’d love to see you play the Uncharted board game. Looks like lots of fun :))
Thanks for the interest Wilma.
Hi Rodney I have been meaning to ask this for a long time..where is Luke? We dont see him at all! This would have been a great game to play with Luke (though there is no dice ! :P )
He's a busy guy. School keeps him pretty busy, and Watch It Played videos take a lot of time. That said, he may be back again this year for an appearance. We'll see!
@@WatchItPlayed Excited for his return this year! Any chance you are visiting Toronto this year?
@@THEGLADIUS101 Possibly. No plans currently.
If you have the tooth and use a mammoth leaving none in the field for any player I assume then no-one keeps the tooth and you have to draw a regular gray disc at the end of your turn.
In this case, the tooth goes back to the center of the mammoth field.
Sorry you had to make an updated video, but I assumed you'd want to know if there was something off with the rules.
Oh, I'm VERY glad to be made aware of any mistakes. What's crazy, is that I already had a corrected video shot, but I accidentally uploaded the incorrect version initially. The video will be online for years, so better to get it right!
What’s the update??
"the correction is at 8:11, where it now correctly explains how you break a tie in the mammoth field."
You'll find the update listed in the description of the video - and Queen kindly shared it here for you as well.
Watch It Played thank you. I can’t find it to buy anywhere in the United States anyway. I was thinking of getting it, but it is not showing up as being available for sale in the United States 🇺🇸 yet......
You don't need to reupload every correction do you? Can't you just use the subtitles to correct stuff like Rhado?
That works if people know to look, but most casual viewers wouldn't. Thankfully these kinds of mistakes don't happen often.
