Making my new favorite spring dress | Balloon/Bishop sleeve dress | Step by step sewing tutorial

Welcome or welcome back to my channel. My name is Jess and I love doing DIY, making clothes in a "simply but pretty" way.
In today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made my new favorite spring dresses. They're the balloon/bishop sleeve dress. They're made with 2 faces of the sleeve technique with a deep v-neck, loose fit and in midi length.

To make this dress, please check out some of my basic information below:
- Sewing machine: Brother Auto Tension
- Material: 2m of mix cotton silk fabric for each type of fabric
- My body measurements: 80-68-92 (bust-waist-hip). I'm 165cm and usually wear Small size.

Cute! You could hack this in so many ways too. Like short circle sleeves would be cute. Could add a tie in the back for more fitted look. Could even make this sleeveless.

You can make the dress longer by drawing a line that is parallel with the ending line.
i’m confused too, and i so want to make this dress, love it. Jess is there any way you could make a pattern for it, i would be happy to pay for a pattern.

Hi, can I make the sleeves longer? Should I add an elastic band?
Yes, you can make the sleeve longer. And if you want to add the elastic band, you don't have to make the basic sleeve inside.

Beautiful - how do you finish your seam edges to stop fraying?
I believe she has a serger now. But you could finish the edges with a zig zag stitch.
Yes, I got my serger. But I used to use zig zag stitching before
Where do you recommend shopping for fabric on line for this dress ?
It'll be a bit hard for me to give recommendation as I don't shop online that often. And the online shop I know is only ship within my country

Please in 6:33 why do we move down 2 cm from the shoulder line
i made your dress without moving 2 cm down and it turned out gorgeous 😍 but i'm welling to make it like you did this time
Can you explain please ^^
2cm is actually the width of your shoulder between the front and the back bodice of the dress. It's okay to not move down 2cm. However, if doing that, you can see the seam that connect the front and the back will likely move to the back. Because it needs space at the shoulder and it take that from the front bodice. So the shoulder seam won't stay in the middle

Any recommendations on how to adjust this for bustier women?
At the step where I measure the width of the bust area, you can adjust that measurement on your body size.

As I said in 1st msg really cute. When you flash msgs on the screen could you leave it longer. It’s only on a second, I tried to snap pics of them & on my phone … ahhh not possible. Lol! I sighed up for emails .. using my husbands tablet so I gave you a different one. Not sure if this will make sense to you , but very interested! 50+ plus yrs seamstress specializing in bridal, formal wear, etc. Love making costumes as well. Self taught, love to create❤️

Yes, I made them the same. In fact they are a bit different. But it's not a big deal here

Hi Jess Dang. I lost my subscription to your channel somehow but I am back now. Just a question, there's no darts. For a full breasted girl this dress will be awkward. Where to add darts if needed?
If you want to add dart, you can do it at 2 sides of the bust area, under the armpit

I have a question 🤔 when drow the pattern you show the different between the front and the back of hands but when you drow the sleeve pattern you missed that's
It's not a huge different between the front and the back for the sleeves. So I made them the same
