- Hi everyone,
Welcome or welcome back to my channel. My name is Jess and I love doing DIY, making clothes in a "simply but pretty" way.
In today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made my Valentine dress. This dress looks like a wrap dress. But it's not totally a wrap dress. It comes with the boat neck and batwing sleeve in midi length to have the feminine look. This beautiful dress is made from such a simple pattern. So I hope you will try it out.
To make this dress, please check out some of my basic information below:
Sewing machine: Merrit Joyful Sewing
Material: 2.5m silk cotton fabric
My body measurements: 80-66-92 (bust-waist-hip). I'm 165cm and usually wear Small size.
I learn sewing by myself. So I would love to know more sharing from you guys to improve my skill.

Oh my God, Jess, you finally made it!! I thought you'd never make it. P.S: I was the one who DMed you on IG about this dress🤭🤭
OMG 😱 I was trying to find your message to tell you about it. But I couldn’t find it as it’s too many of them and I think it was long time ago
Thank you thank you thank you!!
This is one I 'd defina add to my closet. I have so many fabrics in my stash that are waiting... this one is perfect for my blue checked bed sheets. I mostly practice Re and upcycling sewing by the way and your vids are so inspiering
Hope to see you make them soon
I've been sewing for a long time and I learned alot from you, also I really like your choice in fabrics in all your videos. You sew so fast.
Thank you so much!
I just finished my dress 🥳❤️ the results are really elegant and comfortable. Thank you for simple tutorial 💖💗
So happy to know you made it.
I love it! As you allways says: "Simple, but pretty"; I think, so pretty!! Gorgeous as all your creations. Thanks 4 sharing with us.
Thanks so much! 😊 Hope you try this one out as I personal think it’s a very easy one but the result is just perfect
everytime i watch your videos it inspired me to go back sewing .love it!
I’m so glad you got that feeling as it’s the one I always want to share to everyone. Sewing can be hard and difficult when we first started. And it makes us want to give up after that. That’s why I want to share it in the simple way that you can find it easy to do yourself. And since you made one, you will have more encouraged to keep doing it
@@JessDangDIY Thank you jess! definitely gonna keep watching for more inspiration!
Ohhhh this is great! Would look so cute as a shirt too!
YES!!!!!!! I TOTALLY AGREE.
I think so too!
I am blown away! For someone who never studied fashion, it amazes me how you do it. I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to tackle sewing my own clothes without a purchased pattern. Love the dress!
Thank you so much! It's quite funny the way I got into self drafted pattern. When I was a kid, I saw some tailors in my hometown drew the patterns straight on the fabrics and cutting after that. So I just did the same and in some ways learn it myself.
Oh Jess thank you for taking more time at the end to model !! Especially so I can see how the dress works and ties! Love your videos 💞💞💞💞from New Zealand
You are so welcome! I think it’ll help everyone to know how the dress worn to have more visualized of it
Ohh JESS you nail it, is just perfect for spring time
Yeah, can go with blank or floral fabric. All are perfect for this design
I love this pattern so much!!!!
Me too ❤ Such a simple one but has a wonderful result
Another winner. I've been thinking of making something similar (with slimmer sleeves), so very timely. As usual, you've aced it!!🥰
Thank you so much! Hope to see you try it out soon
Wonderful casual dress.... Love it
Thanks a lot!
This dress is beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
I love watching you sew. I haven't made one of your dresses before, because I'm 5'10" and have big differences between parts of my body (bust 45", waist 35", hips 45"). I've always worried that your patterns wouldn't be a great fit for me, but this one looks very forgiving, fit-wise. I'm going to give it a try!
Yeah, this one can hide lot of thing 😊 And it’s also super comfy too. Perfect for an everyday dress
Would be very pretty with a silk fabric as well.
Totally agree ❤ I was really close to go with silk. But I also want to wear this dress on my daily life. So I chose with this silk cotton gingham fabric to suit my purpose
Lovely! Thank you for sharing!!
You are so welcome!
I just made some gold pants but want to use a pink n gold sari /scarf I have been saving for years as an overdress. Finally I think this may be the dress that will work! This would be good for all the beautiful scarves and silk I seem to collect 👍🏽💞
Oh yes, I think it would be perfect for this dress 😍 You even can make the front and the back with the different scarf if you don’t have enough fabric from one.
Wow 1 never thought of that!
Beautiful design 👍🌺🌿🏵🌵🌹🍀🍁
Thank you!
Have always loved your videos...
P.s would be great if you could upload on how to sew and draft a corset top/dress🤩❤
Thank you! I’ll try to check it out soon. But I have one tutorial about the corset kind of bustier top design in my video “making my wedding dance dress” You can check it out

Yay! A new dress. I loved the pattern clara dress, I altered it and made the ruffled bottom. I received so many compliments on it..Ty again Jess! The Pattern was sooo easy to use.
So so happy to hear that ❤ I’m glad you bought and pattern and alter it yourself to make your own version of it 😍
MARAVILHOSOOOOOO!! Vou fazer... 👏🏾✨🇧🇷
Thanks a lot ❤
I like your videos, so helpful.😊 Loves from Türkiye.❤ I want to sew this beautiful dress but i dont understand how you sew elastic band to waist?
Hi Jess do you mind share some tips on sewing with the checks, I noticed your checks are perfectly matched!
It’s mainly at the part when you copy the patterns to the fabric. In stead of cutting 2 same pieces in a fold fabric, I always cut it in 2 times. And when apply the pattern, make sure you check the ending or where the pattern connect with the other to make sure they match. I’m quite an OCD person. So it would be very annoying if they don’t match 😂
Спасибо за бескорыстность и доброту что даришь красоту и свой опыт здоровья счастья любви мира вам
Love it ❤❤❤
Thank you ❤
Maravilhoso vestido amei❤

@@JessDangDIY yes! And just in time for spring ❤️
Amazing 👏 😍
Thanks 😄
You seem like such a beautiful soul x
Thank you so much ❤
Cute 😍😍
Thank you ❤
Jess where abouts do you put the elastic on your pattern. Is it actually at your waist or below your waist to get a blouson effect. Such a beautiful dress. X
It's at my waist. So when wearing, I will move it a bit higher than my waist to create the falling fabric to hide it
What a beautiful dress! I will definitely add this to my to do -list ☺️ Question: How did you sew the elastic to the dress?
I cut an elastic band with a half of my waist size. Then sewing along at the waistline of the front dress
Amo seu trabalhos me inscrevi não falo seu idioma, mais gostaria que se fosse possível colocar legendas eu amariaaa
💞
Amei! Quero fazer para mim
Thank you ❤

Gracias
It's called iro and baba in Nigeria 🇳🇬... Love from Nigeria
My pleasure ❤
جميل جدا
Thank you ❤
Hi Jess, how do you add the elastic to the waistline at the end?
I sew it straight to the waistline. I mark 4 equal parts of the circle elastic band first. Then pins them to the waistline. Then pull them when sewing.
Quick question: when you say ‘quarter of my hip size plus 5 centimeters’, do you add the 5 cm after you divide your hip by 4 or after? E.g. if my hip size is 30, do I do 7.5cm + 5cm or do I do 30cm + 5cm and then divide by 4? Xxxx
First you divide the measure of your hip size and then you add the 5 cm to this number. Ex: 80÷4=20; 20+5=25. 25 was the final measure.
5cm I add is for the comfortable feeling at your butt area as I don’t want it too fit to the body. That’s mean if your hip is 30, it will be 7.5 + 5cm. If you want the dress more loose, you can add more than 5cm
Me encanta, todo o qué haces es muy lindo y parece raro fácil pero no, toro tiene su chiste al acéralo
Thanks a lot ❤ I always try to find the most simple way to make my clothes and share with everyone. Because I want to inspire sewing lovers to start making their own clothes. And since you can make one, you can keep going to make more 😊
Poderia mostrar cortando no tecido. Ficaria mas fácil de entender
Poderia ter legenda em português 😢😢😢
👏👏👏👏👏👍❤🤴💋💐
Please make cargo pants jess
I’ll try to check it out soon
