Welcome or welcome back to my channel. My name is Jess and I love doing DIY, making clothes in a "simply but pretty" way.
In today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made a ruffle sleeve tiered baby doll dress. This is a little upgrade from the ruffle top that I shared with you before. That's why it's a beginner friendly sewing DIYs. I hope you like it and try it out.
To make this DIY, please check out my basic information below:
Sewing machine: Brother Auto Tension
Material: 2.5m of soft cotton fabric. The width of the fabric is 130cm
My body measurements: 80-66-92cm. I'm 165cm tall and usually wear Small size.

The dress you are wearing while taking measurements, I made that dress in winter after watching your that video multiple times , it was my first time sewing a dress, though I ended up having some issues with the neck line but over all that dress turned out pretty cute , I couldn't believe I made it. Your way of explaining is so good, and here I'm watching this video to make another dress.

Hi Jess! I hope you can make an easy way to sew button down blouses with collar. It can be used for formal attire but most importantly it's very quick and cool to use it in casual attire 🙏🙏

I love your videos! I’m super excited to start sewing but I get really confused about fabrics, would you mind doing a video explaining where and how you find your fabric? They’re all super cute and I feel like I can’t find anything as cute and comfy looking as the kind you use
Thank you! Most of my fabric is a very basic cotton fabric. The prefer to use them as they're very easy to work with and have so many options in term of the textures and details

This is sooo cute! I am sorry if I missed this, but I was wondering if the strip that gets added to the neckline has to be cut on the bias? Or is it okay to use just a regular cut of the matching fabric? Looking forward to the next video already!
No, I cut it as a normal rectangle, not bias

Yes, it's still pretty with longer length. You just need to add more tier or make each tier longer.

Thank you! I already had a tutorial for that dress. It's not a blouse. But you can make it shorter to turn it become a blouse if you want

Yes, you need to adjust the bust size and the length size for other person. Check it slowly at each step where I shared my measurements, I also shared how I got them. So you can replace with the new body size

Just tried making this and got finished with the top and tried it on....problem was once I got it on i could not get it off. Any tips on how to get the right bodice width measurement?
I wonder how you could get it on? Usually if it's hard to get on or off is from the width of the top is too small or too close to your bust size. That's why it makes it hard for you to take it off. The solution is making the width of the top bigger. So the total width of the top from the front to the back will be much bigger than your bust size.

if I wanted to add another layer to the skirt to make it longer, what would be measurement of it? (I live in VERY windy country and dont want strangers seing my pants :D)
To make it longer, you can make one more tier or keep the number of tiers & make each tier longer than I did. To make another tier, it should be around 1.5 times longer than the third tier (or the tier next to it). So you can create the gathering fabric there

I made it for my size (small size). If you want medium size, you need to change the bust size of the dress to fit your body

You can do it by making the skirt part with 2 pieces (the front and the back). So you can connect them together at the side and adding the pocket there
